Dr. Nicole Cain is a leading expert in resolving anxiety and has helped thousands of patients break free from panic and build lasting mental wellness. In this insightful interview for the MindHealth360Show, she shares the powerful methods behind her revolutionary approach to treating anxiety. Author of the book Panic Proof: The New Holistic Solution to End Your Anxiety Forever, Dr. Cain brings a unique and multidisciplinary perspective to mental health. With a degree in clinical psychology, training in EMDR, and a license as a naturopathic physician, she incorporates medical, psychological, and holistic approaches to healing, and successfully bridges the gap between biochemical and psycho-spiritual factors to address anxiety from multiple angles. In this compelling and complex conversation, Dr. Cain introduces the 9 distinct types of anxiety (thought anxiety, chest anxiety, gut anxiety, depressive anxiety, nervous system anxiety, anger anxiety, endocrine anxiety, trauma anxiety, and immune system anxiety), emphasising that our different experiences of anxiety require tailored treatments. She highlights the importance of identifying the root-causes of anxiety for sustainable and effective healing and reminds us that anxiety is not caused solely by a stressor, but by how we respond to it in states of sympathetic activation. She outlines her ‘panic proof' strategies that focus on mind, body and soul for healing from anxiety and panic attacks, and explains why focusing on our bodies, sensation, touch and connection is so important. With real warmth and optimism, Dr. Cain reassures us that we are designed to heal, offering a message of hope: recovery from anxiety is not only possible – it's within reach. In this episode you will learn: How anxiety and panic coexist on a spectrum, with panic at one extreme and generalised anxiety at the other. Why a trauma and biology-informed approach is essential, and how addressing both the biochemical and psycho-spiritual aspects of anxiety leads to deeper healing. Why anxiety originates in the body, and how thoughts are attached to those physical sensations – rather than the other way around. How to identify early “canary” warning signals of anxiety and why each person's experience is unique. Why we can't simply “talk” ourselves out of feeling anxious, and ways that trauma is stored in non-verbal parts of our brains, influencing anxiety in ways we might not consciously recognise. Why anxiety becomes maladaptive when it is not proportional to a threat, and ways maladaptive behaviours are those that stop you from adapting to new or difficult circumstances. The neurophysiology of anxiety – understanding anxiety as a stress response that results from the nervous system getting "stuck” in a heightened state - and why it's rooted in the reaction, rather than in the stressor. The root-causes of anxiety, including environmental toxins, moulds, infections, hormone, nutritional and neurotransmitter imbalances, inflammation, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences - and how these biochemical and psycho-spiritual factors interplay. The 9 types of anxiety – thought anxiety, chest anxiety, gut anxiety, depressive anxiety, nervous system anxiety, anger anxiety, endocrine anxiety, trauma anxiety, immune system anxiety – the typical symptoms of each, and how each type informs targeted treatment strategies. How the brain's salience network contributes to anxiety, and why excessive sensory stimuli (screens, social media, blue light, toxins) can trigger panic. How to shift from asking “how do I make the anxiety stop?” to “what is my body telling me I need” - and why listening to our bodies informs healing strategies. How experiencing physical touch and building meaningful human connections play a vital role in recovery. Why asking “how can I become more of myself?” rather than “how do I fix myself?” can be a powerful tool reframes how we accept and heal from anxiety. 3 key foundational strategies that build resilience and adaptability; 1: meeting core human needs (prioritising connection, proper nutrition, hydration, warmth) 2: removing obstacles to healing (toxic relationships, unfulfilling jobs, and unhealthy environments) 3: strengthening brain/body health (herbal medicine, detoxification, micro-dosing, targeted nutrition, movement, bodywork, sauna therapy, and massage) A practical demo of the “3 minute hack” ,tips for panic attack prevention, and why self-compassion and care transform our experiences of anxiety.

Healthcare is very expensive right now, and the most profitable business models all rely on people being attached to a chronic illness model. How can we make healing through functional medicine more accessible? We've been asking ourselves this question at the Integrative Women's Health Institute and it's difficult to answer. Treating clients who have complex chronic conditions requires active participation by practitioners. We bring together coaching skills and look at different physiologic systems as a whole, all while being mindful of overwork and burnout ourselves.Technology will change how healthcare is delivered, and the role of clinicians will change. The good news is that there are ways we can integrate these new systems into our practices to create better outcomes for our patients and clients. When done correctly, technology can help us scale our skillsets and improve accessibility.Today I'm excited to share my conversation with Diane Ducarme, creator of Migraine Heroes. Diane and her team have created a solution to chronic migraines that comes from a very unique perspective that combines technology with traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and functional medicine strategies. They're also working towards making the platform more accessible and approachable for people who can't afford functional medicine. In this conversation, Diane and I discuss insights from her sister's migraine experiences, the importance of integrative approaches to women's health, the complexities of migraines, the need to address the root causes of migraines, integrating traditional Chinese medicine with Western medical practices, the role of nutrition and lifestyle changes in migraine management, how migraines impact health journeys, the prevalence of migraines among women and hormonal influences, financial barriers to accessing quality healthcare, the use of technology and innovative tools in migraine management and support, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!---Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/healing-migraines-by-combining-an-integrative-approach-with-technology-with-diane-ducarme-founder-of-migraine-heroes/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/). Hyperbaric oxygen chambers have long been used for acute issues such as strokes and brain injuries—but can they be used for chronic conditions as well? This week, I'm joined by Dr. Scott Sherr, an internal medicine physician certified in hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We sat down to discuss what makes this chamber "a wound healer from the inside out" as well as the proper protocols one should follow before even considering oxygen therapy for chronic issues. In this episode, you'll discover: The Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT): As soon as you step into the hyperbaric chamber, your body works to reoxygenate the cells in low-oxygen tissue. In the long term, not only does the body rebuild damaged blood vessels, but you can also expect to see a decrease in inflammation and swelling, an enhancement of the immune system, and lymphatic and detoxification optimization. Having a Healthy Foundation Is Key: "You want to get some of that foundational stuff working before you start stressing the system with oxygen," says Dr. Sherr. This includes having the right vitamins, minerals, and nutrients required to detoxify and create energy or ATP effectively. "The challenge in the hyperbaric world is that we don't think about these things as much," he adds. HBOT's Role In Cancer Treatment: Dr. Sherr uses hyperbaric oxygen therapy in conjunction with other interventions, such as vitamin C IVs and a ketogenic diet, as a way to support and sensitize people for chemotherapy and radiation. What Methylene Blue Does: In terms of supplemental support, Dr. Sherr turns to methylene blue, which helps optimize the mitochondria—the parts of the cells that produce ATP—while promoting detoxification at the same time, which the internal medicine physician calls "very unusual." He opts for low doses of the supplement to avoid potentially causing oxidative stress in the body. 05:40 Integrative Approach to Hyperbaric Therapy 07:03 Understanding Hyperbaric Therapy Basics 15:41 Physiological Benefits of Hyperbaric Therapy 19:07 Hyperbaric Therapy for Various Conditions 22:58 Hyperbaric Therapy and Cancer 26:27 Types of Hyperbaric Chambers 35:06 The Importance of Foundational Health Before Hyperbaric Therapy 39:36 Personal Experiences and Protocols for Hyperbaric Therapy 42:10 Optimizing Hyperbaric Therapy with Other Modalities 52:19 Methylene Blue: Benefits and Applications Connect with Dr. Myers: Website: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ Newsletter: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ec/guide-to-leaky-gut Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmyMyersMD Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amymyersmd/ Episode mentioned with Dr. Shai Efrati on HBOT: https://open.spotify.com/episode/1bwEfDrSU5RTpwOkMwYf3L?si=e96668253f504c10 Connect with Dr. Sherr: Website: https://www.hyperbaricmedicalsolutions.com/integrative-hbot/scott-sherr Health Optimization Medicine (HOMe) Practice: https://home-sf.co/ OneBase Health website: https://onebasehealth.com/ Methylene blue product: https://troscriptions.com/pages/team/dr-scott-sherr Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drscottsherr/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drsherr/

A free way to support your cancer treatment? Shifting your mindset and finding the positives in life. This week, I'm joined by Taylor Dukes, a family nurse practitioner, mother of two, and former colleague. We sat down to discuss her cancer journey—from finding out she had a brain tumor to entering remission—what she's learned in the years since her initial diagnosis, and how reframing her mindset helped her thrive. In this episode, you'll discover: Integrative Approaches to Cancer Treatment: When doctors found a brain tumor in Dukes' right frontal lobe, the mother of two didn't jump straight into surgery. Instead, she implemented a lot of integrative therapies such as coffee enemas, hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy, wearing a red light helmet, and more. "In the five months between when I got diagnosed and when I actually had surgery, we were able to shrink the brain tumor in half," says Duke." The Power of Positive Thinking: Dukes, who currently has "no evidence of disease," believes that as long as you're breathing, there is always hope and there are always options. "No diagnosis, no test, no statistic has the ability to figure out the number of your days," says Dukes, who credits prayer and meditation for her mindset. "Your mind is powerful and what you believe is so, so powerful." Maintaining Your Health After Cancer: Two years after her diagnosis, Dukes is now in maintenance mode and focuses on getting her immune system back on track. She keeps up with regular fasting, eats a lower-carb diet, and alternates between red light therapy, ozone therapy, and sauna. “I'm starting specific therapies to target the co-infections and Lyme markers I have,” she says. 06:40 A Life-Changing Diagnosis 10:15 Integrative Approach to Healing 18:19 The Power of Faith and Family 20:26 Life After Surgery 24:41 Immune System Suppression and Cancer Growth 25:01 Prevention and Immune System Recovery 25:26 Targeted Therapies and Integrative Approaches 26:55 Conventional vs. Integrative Treatment Options 31:11 Support Systems and Personal Decisions 34:08 Navigating Parenthood During Cancer 37:55 Coping Mechanisms and Emotional Resilience Connect with Dr. Myers: Website: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ Newsletter: https://www.amymyersmd.com/ec/guide-to-leaky-gut Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AmyMyersMD Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amymyersmd/ Connect with Taylor Dukes: Website: https://taylordukeswellness.com/ Online store: https://shop.taylordukeswellness.com/collections/all-products Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/taylordukeswellness/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/taylordukeswellness/ Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@taylordukeswellness

Today on Integrative Cancer Solutions Dr. Karlfeldt is joined by Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy. Dr. Connealy is a prominent leader in integrative medicine, combining conventional, homeopathic, Eastern, and modern medical approaches. She is the medical director of the Cancer Center for Healing and Center for New Medicine, which together form North America's largest integrated medical clinic. These facilities have treated over 47,000 patients, focusing on personalized care that includes cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment of various chronic conditions.Dr. Connealy's journey into cancer treatment was influenced by her personal experience. As the third of six children, she was exposed in utero to diethylstilbestrol (DES), a drug given to her mother to prevent miscarriage. Later, it was discovered that DES caused cancer and other health issues in offspring. This led Dr. Connealy to pursue medicine and specialize in cancer treatment, driven by a desire to understand and address the long-term effects of such exposures. In her approach to cancer treatment, Dr. Connealy emphasizes treating the patient with the disease rather than just the disease itself. She focuses on determining the origin of illnesses and employs a wide range of therapies. Her work has been recognized nationally, as she was named one of the top 50 functional and integrative doctors in the country in 2017. Dr. Connealy is also an author, having written two influential books: "The Cancer Revolution" and "Be Perfectly Healthy." These works have significantly impacted the medical landscape. She actively contributes to medical publications and serves on several boards, including those for Dr. Josh Ax, ACAM, and ACIM Connect. Her dedication to integrative medicine and cancer treatment continues to influence and shape the field.Dr. Connealy's Cancer Center for Healing and Center for New Medicine form the largest integrated medical clinic in North America, having treated over 47,000 patients. Her personal exposure to DES in utero led her to pursue a career in medicine and specialize in cancer treatment.Dr. Connealy emphasizes treating the patient holistically, not just focusing on the disease itself. She was named one of the top 50 functional and integrative doctors in the country in 2017.Dr. Connealy has authored two influential books: "The Cancer Revolution" and "Be Perfectly Healthy," which have significantly impacted the medical landscape.----Learn more about Dr. Connealy: https://www.connealymd.com/The Cancer Revolution: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=the+cancer+revolution+by+dr.+leigh+connealy+book&crid=2GS09LV93ONK5&sprefix=The+Cancer+Revolution%2Caps%2C199&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_2_21Be Perfectly Healthy: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=be+perfectly+healthy+dr+connealy&crid=30H1M792AF1Q6&sprefix=be+perfectly+healthy%2Caps%2C142&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_20----Website: https://www.drrobertwhitfield.com/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@breastimplantillnessexpertApple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/explant-breast-surgery-recovery/id1678143554Grab my book A Better Way to Treat Cancer: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing and Most Effectively Treating Our Biggest Health Threat - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM1KKD9X?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860 Unleashing 10X Power: A Revolutionary Approach to Conquering Cancerhttps://store.thekarlfeldtcenter.com/products/unleashing-10x-power-Price: $24.99-100% Off Discount Code: CANCERPODCAST1Healing Within: Unraveling the Emotional Roots of Cancerhttps://store.thekarlfeldtcenter.com/products/healing-within-Price: $24.99-100% Off Discount Code: CANCERPODCAST2----Integrative Cancer Solutions was created to instill hope and empowerment. “I have a bigger connection with my patients than I ever have, and that even translates to working with other professionals on the care team.” - Dr. Maggie Roth, PT, DPT, ATC, WHCIntegrating health coaching into our existing practices and skills can profoundly improve patient care and outcomes. In clinical training, we're typically taught to measure success against a set of functional goals. It's rare for clinicians to encourage patients to think about goals specific to their lives and support them in achieving them. The healing journey is not just about evidence-based measures like how far a patient can walk and what their endurance is. Those metrics are important, but they're not the whole story and don't reflect a holistic approach to women's health.Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to Dr. Maggie Roth, a graduate of our Women's Health Coach certification program. Maggie is a pelvic health expert and physical therapist who now specializes in working primarily with mothers who also deal with chronic pain. Since graduating, she has integrated her coaching training into her physical therapy practice in a way that has helped her clients get to the point of being fully well and in alignment with their goals. In this conversation, Maggie and I discuss her journey into physical therapy, what it has been like integrating health coaching into her physical therapy practice, what holistic, client-centered care looks like, why relieving physical symptoms doesn't address the whole picture, her experiences as a postpartum mother and working with women suffering from chronic pain, the need for continuing education and community support among healthcare professionals, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/a-truly-integrative-approach-to-womens-health-physical-therapy-with-womens-health-coach-graduate-dr-maggie-roth-pt-dpt-atc-whc/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/). “I always pair the exercise and nutrition plan with the medication because the goal is to foster positive behavior changes to reinforce the changes occurring with the medication. That's what maintains the weight loss.” - Dr. Elizabeth SharpLosing weight can be very challenging, and many people get stuck in a vicious cycle where they are making positive changes but not seeing their desired results. In these cases, when we understand how to integrate a healthy diet and exercise, having something like a GLP-1 agonist to help jump-start your hormone balance can be a game-changer.Whether it's pharmaceuticals or nutraceuticals, there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic and Wegovy are no different. They can be highly beneficial when we view them as morally neutral tools, especially in collaboration with practitioners who can put them in context alongside exercise and nutrition.Today, I'm so excited to introduce you to Dr. Elizabeth Sharp, an internal medicine doctor in New York City who recently started her private primary practice with an additional focus on weight management. Dr. Sharp has a preventative mindset that is rare in conventional medicine, and seeing her approach gives me hope that we're turning a corner in the Western medical system. In today's episode, Dr. Sharp and I discuss the role of GLP-1 agonists in weight management, the importance of lifestyle changes, what an integrative approach to weight loss looks like, the need for preventative health measures, her approach to longevity, how you can reach your long-term health goals, and more.Enjoy the episode, and let's innovate and integrate together!Learn more or watch the video version of this conversation at https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/an-integrative-approach-to-weight-loss-with-dr-elizabeth-sharp/.Connect with me and access our entire platform at IntegrativeWomensHealthInstitute.com (https://integrativewomenshealthinstitute.com/). Stories, trauma, imprints, births, losses, past sexual experiences, and even more energetic qualities like our creative energy or feelings of safety. So, even if we aren't experiencing any issues "down there" we could still benefit from some regular caretaking just to tend our tissues. But if you *are* someone (like many of us) who's got anything from menstrual cramps to fertility challenges to trauma history to endometriosis or PCOS or irregular cycles or bladder pain or even creative blocks...it's likely that some extra presence and care would be a powerful option for you. In this enlightening episode of the Tick Boot Camp Podcast, hosts Matt Sabatello and special guest co-host Justin Lindorf sit down with Dr. Andrew Petersen, a Lyme-literate medical doctor with over 24 years of experience in treating chronic Lyme disease and other complex chronic illnesses. Dr. Petersen shares his unique journey into medicine, driven by a desire to "stick up for the little guy," and how he transitioned from family medicine to becoming a leading figure in Lyme disease treatment. Key Takeaways: Creating a Healing Environment: Dr. Petersen emphasizes that the key to overcoming chronic Lyme disease is creating an environment where the body can make more new cells than are being broken down, which promotes overall health and healing. Promoting Cell Growth and Repair: Ingredients for New Cell Formation: Ensuring the body has the necessary fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, oxygen, and water. Proper Signaling Molecules: Maintaining the presence of hormones, peptides, cytokines, interleukins, enzymes, growth factors, and neurotransmitters. Optimizing Cell Production: Addressing hormone and thyroid imbalances to enhance the body's ability to make new cells. Reducing Cell Death: Managing Microbes: Implementing strategies to reduce the microbial load, including Lyme-specific treatments and immune support. Detoxification: Actively managing and reducing environmental and internal toxins that contribute to cellular breakdown. Addressing Stress and Trauma: Implementing therapies to reduce the impact of psychological and physical trauma, which can trigger immune dysfunction. Mitigating Electromagnetic Frequencies: Reducing exposure to EMFs, which can disrupt cellular function and contribute to chronic illness. Fecal Implants and Microbiome Health: Dr. Petersen discusses the use of ThaenaBiotic, a processed and sterilized form of fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), to help restore a healthy microbiome. This approach aims to reintroduce beneficial bacteria to the gut, which can be crucial for patients with Lyme disease and other chronic conditions. Dr. Petersen's Journey: Learn about Dr. Petersen's unconventional path to becoming a DO, inspired by personal experiences and a dynamic biology professor. Understanding DO vs. MD: Dr. Petersen explains the differences between DOs (Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine) and MDs, and why he chose the osteopathic path. Challenges in Lyme Diagnosis: Dr. Petersen discusses the difficulties he faced in diagnosing Lyme disease during his early career, especially while working in tick-endemic areas without proper awareness or training. Integrative Approach to Healing: Dr. Petersen shares his holistic approach to treating Lyme disease, which includes addressing the key factors that contribute to chronic illness alongside Lyme-specific treatments. Justin Lindorf's Perspective: As a Lyme patient himself, Justin offers valuable insights into Dr. Petersen's compassionate and open-minded approach to patient care. Integrative rheumatologist Jill Weintraub MD explains how hi-tech medicines can be supported by lifestyle measures—including diet, stress reduction, and specific supplements. She's the co-author of "Strategies to Treat Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis: Everything You Wish Your Doctor Had Told You," where she offers comprehensive recovery plans with patient vignettes. She first details conventional options now available for autoimmunity, including the new biologic drugs. Dr. Weintraub discusses how diet can be deployed to reduce dependency on medications; the Mediterranean, Paleo, and vegan diets have been found helpful, as has intermittent fasting. Supplements like curcumin, omega 3s, and Boswellin may help tamp down inflammation; Adaptogens may counter the effects of stress; and probiotics and “gut-sealers” may address altered intestinal permeability. Androgens—especially DHEA—have proven helpful in lupus. A particular focus for Dr. Weintraub is patients who have signs of autoimmune susceptibility prior to formal diagnosis, who are ideal candidates for early intervention with natural modalities to forestall the development of full-blown disease.
