One of the intentions of the L.I.O.N. Podcast is to inspire people to create a life beyond their dreams. That's why I invited Nicolin on the show, because she is doing exactly that.   She is no different than anyone who's been living in the city working a 9-5 job. Just recently she was living in New Your City working for a big PR firm.  What separates her from many people is that when she felt that life had more to offer her, she took action. This is the process that I am intrigued by. The process of taking the leap while not having all the answers.  Nicolin is in the thick of that process at the moment, and as a friend, it makes me very happy to see her sticking to that process and watching the universe provide her with stepping stones one by one. This has not been an easy process for her, and I found it so valuable to get an inside look at the life of someone who is choosing to transform their entire life with no guarantees of success, simply trusting that it is possible.  Not only did she uproot from New York City to Costa Rica, she also recently quit her job and has been finding opportunities to be self-employed while calling in work that feels in most alignment for her.   Thank you Nicolin or showing everyone that creating the life of your dreams is possible indeed! You can follow Nicolin  on IG: @nicolincollingridge Listen to this Podcast on: Spotify: http://bit.ly/LIONpodcast Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/LION-podcast Google Podcasts: http://bit.ly/LIONgcastAmazon Music: http://bit.ly/LIONapodcast Watch the Video Version on YouTube: http://bit.ly/LION-YTSubscribe to the Love Is Our Nature Blog: LoveIsOurNature.com

EP242: This week's guest interview is with Kim Selby, a woman with a varied background including advertising, public relations, fashion, acting, travel, motivational speaking, and raising a couple of awesome kids and who is constantly reinventing herself. She started her career in New Your City, working in advertising, PR and as a traveling Merchandising Editor at Glamour magazine. Act 2 took her to San Francisco, because she had “dated everyone in New York,” and that was a good thing because shortly thereafter she met her soulmate, got married, and had two glorious children, filling her time by volunteering as PTA president as well as other activities.  Kim has a super fun and vibrant personality and is a great example of how to embrace Act 3 of your life. She is currently being fueled by her love of speaking and her “Ignite Your Spark” podcast, And she's living by her motto and inspiring those of us over 50 that “you are never too old” by getting her first modeling gig at age 64! In this episode, Kim and I talked about: The story behind what prompted her to start a podcast last year at age 64. A shocking revelation that she discovered by accident right after her mom died. Her love for motivational speaking and how that desire surfaced at a young age. The actions she took to give more meaning to her “empty nest” stage of life. I loved our high energy conversation and how Kim walks her talk. She's such a great example of how to stay vibrant by leaning into what excites you and pursuing your passions regardless of age. 16, 2-6-SHOW NOTES Today's poems have not been published.  Some were a continuation of my writing and posting on Facebook as I had done with the poems in Living In God's Rhyme.   Three of today's poems are about color.   I am not an artist so I write words of color that are not seen by the eyes, but hopefully are seen by the heart.    THE COLOR OF WORDS   Can words paint  pictures Like a brush on a canvas? That was the question. What is the answer?   The brush paints a scene, But what does it mean As its many colored hues Present many varied views?   The brush paints with color, The color of the rain, The color of one's pain, The color of life's strain, The color of a smile, The color of a traveled mile, The color of two in love, The color of the sky above. The colors of the world By the brush are swirled.   The colors of our dreams, Just what do they mean? Colors are everywhere, A breath of fresh air.   Words, what do they do In their monotone hue? Words paint the emotions Of peace and the commotions Of the life we live And what God does give.   There is color in our pain, There is color in God's reign, There is color as we strain Our tear filled eyes to see Beyond the dark what will be. There is color in our story, There is color in God's glory.   Through words we will see Colors, the many colored hues, Through words holding the clues To blessings from above, The blessings of God's love.   Every word spoken, every word heard is another brush stroke in the painting of our story in Gods' glory. What do the dictionary and a box of crayons have in common?  They tell our story.   6/4/19, tcarter  (read date)      It has been a few years since I had read today's poems.  I was surprised when I could find three about colors.  I was especially surprised at the short period of time between writing the previous poem and the next one.  More on that after this, A Flood of Colors.    A FLOOD OF COLORS   Red, Orange, Yellow, And green, Blue, Indigo, And violet, Together become a rainbow, A promise of God so long ago.   The blood of Jesus,  The blood of the lamb, The blood that saves us, Salvation, God's plan.   The fire of God's deliverance As we passionately praise Through our faithful observance Of the life God did raise.   The glory of God now shown, Finding joy in our faith, Knowing we will see God's face. Through His reign we have grown.   The new beginning, Promised restoration From  lives of sinning, Now with adoration.   The authority of Heaven, Fed on bread unleavened, Led by the Holy Spirit, God's word, we hear it.   The infinite and the finite, One is God, the other man. Jesus is the bridge over the chasm That was created by Adam.   The priesthood, the kingship, The royalty, the mediator, It is Jesus we worship Who is One with the Creator.   The rainbow, a sign of the mercy of God  (Genesis), The colors, the glory of God (Ezekiel), At the end, the power of God (Revelation), The rainbow, a reflection of God,   Yesterday, Today, And tomorrow.   Post Script: An artist paints with colors, A poet paints with words. Both tell a Story Of all God's Glory.   Tim Carter July 7, 2019 (read date)   At the end of June and the first day of July in 2019 I attended Book Expo in New Your City.  I had been invited by my publisher, Lettra Press to be one of three authors to showcase their books.  The last day was BookCon and the three of us gave out and signed copies of our books.  One of the authors was a man named Dr. Jan Cooper.  He has quite a resume, teacher, PHD, author, artist, and more.  We...

9,679,764 SARS-COV-2 cases worldwide with a total of 491,095 deaths. The USA has 2,444,488 cases with 124,897 deaths. Alabama tops the scales at 33,717 cases. Baldwin County seems suspiciously COVID-19 free-ish. The White House CoronaVirus Taskforce had a press conference today for the first time in months in response to the resurgence of new cases around the Country (Florida and Texas in particular). Fairhope City Hall closed yesterday when it was discovered a staff member who attended the City Council Meeting this week was positive for COVID-19 and potentially infected others. Responsibility, Fairhope and other municipalities in the area have canceled 4th of July fireworks. The SEC and NCAA demand the State of Mississippi remove the confederate battle flag from being displayed as a portion of their state flag; Capt. Raines, as a native, weighs in. We watch Matthew McConaughey have an uncomfortable conversion that launches us into such a nebulous argument that it led to the discussion of not releasing this video, but in the end it is an honest disagreement based on race, history, bias of positions, and perception. According to cited sources 1,000 people are killed at the hands of law enforcement each year when being taken into custody. Of these 25 % are black (African American) when this demographic only represents 13% of the population. But take into consideration that his demographic also commits 50% of all violent crime….we disagree, enough said (See Time Magazine, John McWorter assoc prof of English at Columbia University). We watch a police video from Dallas, Texas of Tony Timpa’s death (a mental patient who called the police for help). No malice on the part of law enforcement here, just a complete lack of training in this area of interaction. And then we go back to Ferguson, Missouri related to the death of Michael Brown and hear from Officer Darren Wilson, the only person left alive to tell the tale. In the meantime, monuments and statues are going on the bonfire. Teddy Roosevelt is too controversial for New Your City and protesters were “shooed away” after trying to topple Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Square in Washington D.C. Columbus is in the cross-hairs, even though one of the most famous black (African American) intellectuals in the world, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, believes that the discovery of the new world and the reunification of the “People of the America’s” with the rest of the world was “the most important thing to happen to our species in recorded history”. And we give you a little backstory on how Andrew Jackson’s treaty of Ft. Jackson with the Creek “Redsticks”, after the Fort Mims massacre (1813 Baldwin County, Alabama), ceded lands to the Whitesticks (allies of the US) which is the site of the Poarch Creek Indians (PCI) Gaming’s Wind Creek Casino. During the Pensacola Campaign, General Jackson and Mrs. Rachel Jackson stayed at Montpelier for three months, the plantation home of James Manual Earle in North Baldwin County. He also gave his famous speech rallying his troops from “Jackson Oak” at the now abandoned settlement of Blakely, Baldwin County, Alabama which is a National Historic Site.

5 Minutes To New Ideas With Phil McKinney

Great leaders - in business, government or society, know that when it comes to others, there is always more than meets the eye. Earl Nightingale once shared a story that reminds us to look beyond what we think is obvious. It seems that the NBC orchestra was about to be formed, David Sarnoff, chairman of the board of NBC, gave one directive: “Do not hire away any players from existing orchestras.” The people in charge managed to put together a superb orchestra -- all except for the first clarinetist. When the great maestro Toscanini was about to arrive from Italy to take over the orchestra, Sarnoff was asked how the problem should be handled. Should Toscanini be left to find about the first clarinetist himself? - or - should they be up front and tell him? Sarnoff said, “Let’s tell him.” His associates said, “You tell him.” Accordingly, a group went down to meet the boat as it arrived in New Your City. In his stateroom, Toscanini greeted Sarnoff and said, “That’s a fine orchestra you got together -- very fine, all except for the first clarinetist.” Sarnoff was taken aback and asked, “Maestro, how did you find out?” Toscanini then said, “I have been listening on a little short-wave radio I had in Milan, and I could tell.” Yes, he could hear the first clarinetist on a little radio in Milan. Toscanini then said, “Take me to the studios.” There the orchestra was rehearsing, and a special dressing room was waiting for him. He sent for the clarinetist, who arrived convinced that he was about to be fired. Toscanini said to him, “You are a good clarinet player, but there are certain things that you do wrong.” Then he began to work with him. The upshot was that the clarinetist stayed with the orchestra for 17 years and became one of the worlds best. As is human nature, we tend to judge people based on who they are today. We fail to take the time and see them as they could be. With the right encouragement, patience, mentoring and a lot of training, you could play a role in helping them become the person you are looking for.   I grew up in Chicago and during summers, I would take the Illinois Central Train to attend weekend seminars at the University of Chicago. During one of those seminars, the instructor quoted a story about Dr. Robert Hutchins, who was chancellor of the University of Chicago back in the 1940s and ’50s. It seems a group was having a discussion about adult education, and someone made the comment that you can’t teach old dog new tricks. To which Dr. Hutchins responded, “Human beings are not dogs, and education is not a bag of tricks.” When it comes to creativity and innovation, there are some who believe that all that is required is to search, find and then learn the “bag of tricks” of creativity to be successful. Or worse -- that everyone should already know the tricks and should be able to walk through the door and perform. This is far too much to expect of a person. A recent Adobe study points out that only 25% of the workforce feel they are skilled and are applying creativity and innovation as part of their job. We need to move beyond the idea that there is a “bag of tricks” and instead educate our people so that they can gain confidence in their ability to be creative - to be innovative. Why don’t you take on the role of teaching others how to be more creativity - more innovative? When you are the student, you learn something but you don’t completely “get it” until you try to teach it to others. When you try to teach something to someone else, you have to take that mess of information and organize it in a way that someone else can understand. In the process, you expand your own understanding and as a result, become better at creativity and innovation. As the lyric from the Phil Collins song, Son of Man, goes, “In learning you will teach and in teaching, you will learn”. In each of us is a deep reservoir of ability, even genius, that we consistently fail to take advantage of. It takes knowledge, practice and time to bring that ability to the surface. Investing in your teams' creative abilities will have a return that far exceeds any other investment you can make. As Dr. Edward de Bono says... There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns. So - who is the clarinetist in your orchestra that has the hidden ability to be world-class?

In late October I sat on a conference call with the marketing team from my publisher and my literary agent. It was to be a discussion on how we (I) were going to sell the book. Many things were discussed in that hour + long meeting, but only one thing stood out to me. The person in charge said to me, “Pre-orders not where we would like them to be.” My first thought and what came out of my mouth was, “Well, of course not. I’ve barely mentioned to my community that it’s available because it’s so far out. Our plans for the big push were mid-November through January.” My next immediate thought was: “They’re disappointed in me. I’m failing at this. I’m not big enough, popular enough, or good enough. They bet on me as an author and I’m losing.” I felt the wash of shame. The marketing team was simply doing their job. Selling books matters to them and their bottom line. I want to make it clear that I was the one making up stories about what they thought of me and who I was. I got off the phone and cried. I called my friends and told them dramatically that my publisher was disappointed in me (keep in mind-- they NEVER used that word, I did) and wondered if it was too late to quit. Then, I went on my book tour. First stop was New Your City. There was an odd cold snap that came up the entire east coast, and people started cancelling for my book event and a dinner I had put together. I got an email from my publicist that the bookstore in Chicago for the following week was worried about their January events because of the cold. I immediately thought, “I’m not worth the cold”. I was in the Lyft thinking we should just cancel both events in NYC and Chicago. I was actually thinking about cancelling it all. Here’s what was happening: I was looking for any excuse not to show up. Looking for any small inkling of evidence that it was too hard, that people didn’t like me, that I wasn’t good enough, and that I should just quit. Yesterday I talked about the Upper Limit Problem and this is a classic example. Things were rising for me. The ante had been upped. It was risky and vulnerable and scary and my inner-critic was totally and completely freaking out. I didn’t want to fail, I didn’t want to disappoint people and not measure up. It was all so incredibly uncomfortable. No matter how successful we get-- whether it’s in our jobs or our relationships, or are even in top physical health, I think we’ll always have moments of feeling not enough. I am no exception. Stick around for Friday’s episode where this all comes together, I’ll tell you what ended up happening at those NYC and Chicago events and what to do when you find yourself wanting to just quit aka SABOTAGE your life when you’re upleveling and things get uncomfortable. Aired Sunday, 6 December 2015, 2:00 PM ETAllayah takes you on a journey into the Mind of a very unique soul, Timonthy Wyllie. We will touch upon his journey and his perceptions of the Rebel Angels and Watchers incarnated in this present timeline. In his book, the Wisdom of the watchers, Georgia, a rebel angel and a Watcher, provides her account of the period on Earth from 39,000 BC to 16,500 BC when Lemurian civilization reached its pinnacle and seismic upheavals overwhelmed its island home of Mu. Georgia interweaves her story with observations about Timothy Wyllie âs life, including his interactions with Timothy Leary, himself a rebel angel incarnate.About the Guest Timonthy WyllieTimothy Wyllie was born in Great Britain in 1940 and raised in London. Having wended his way through an English public school education and then seven years further study at college, he qualified as an architect. In the late 70s, Timothy began a systematic exploration of out-of-body states. This led to experiments in telepathic communication with dolphins and an open invitation to contact with nonphysical beings that continues to this day. During this time, he was also running his own business in New Your City, marketing a system he had co-devised for storing and filing color photographs. He retired from the business community in 1981 and turned full time to his creative endeavors. As a musician, Timothy has made several tapes of what he calls “Bozon Music”–a True Age improvisational jazz, shamanic music of the heart–as well as a series of guided visualization and meditation tapes. Also an artist, he is currently working on a virtually endless progression of drawings of sacred landscape. It is what brings him most joy.Timothy travels frequently to give lectures and seminars or to investigate sites and locations for his drawings. He is the author of Ask Your Angels: A Practical Guide to working with the Messengers of Heaven to Empower and Enrich Your Life, Dolphins, ETs & Angels, and a co-author of Adventures Among Spiritual Intelligences: Angels, Aliens, Dolphins & Shamans. He lives in New Mexico.
