Ava Paige is one of those rare singer/songwriters that is an actual Nashville native. Born in the former Baptist Hospital, maybe all the music in the air entered her lungs in the very first breath she took, because she picked up her Dad's guitar when she was only six.Paige calls Mount Juliet, Tennessee home.  Aside from the fact that she doesn't go to school with the majority of the kids her age, she lives a fairly normal life. She loves boating, fishing, golfing, drawing and all kinds of animals.  Oh, and boots!  “I live in boots, except on the boat.” Her Dad makes her wear flip flops on the boat.  Paige was diagnosed with Cancer in July 2019, but thankfully was received a clean bill of health and has kicked Lukemia's ass. Currently, Paige is an independent songwriter and performer. Terah Belle is the mother of a very special little girl named Indy Llew, who stole the hearts of thousands of people across the globe. Indy was born with down syndrome in May of 2016, and although it was a scary and unexpected diagnosis at first for Terah, she says it turned out to be the best thing about Indy. Terah shares what it's like to have a daughter with down syndrome, and then what it was like watching Indy go through chemotherapy to stop early stages of Leukemia, only to have it return later and her to fight cancer for a second time. Indy's earthly life ended far too early, in June of 2021 just after her 5th birthday, but her story and her light and joy and courage continues to inspire and touch the lives of thousands of people. This interview felt like a sacred gift, a tender and raw and heart-felt journey between a mother and a daughter. Terah shared with me so many miracles and tender mercies and little ways that she sees Indy all the time in her life, and I felt the warmth and truthfulness of that as we talked about her sweet Indy. I wish we could've had Indy speak today too, but this next sound clip will give you a tiny piece of the magic of Indy Llew.   This week's episode is sponsored in part by Ana Luisa Jewelry. Effect on Emotions Mindfulness is at the forefront of everything I do because I have to maintain a positive mindset to make it through every single day. With the type of business that I'm in, my emotions are all over the place and so I try to think positive, try to associate with positive people, and that keeps my mind elevated. Thoughts on Breathing Breathing is very essential to my mindfulness. I began having panic attacks when my mom passed away. It was a scary feeling. I literally needed to use the brown paper bag to breathe out of. That's how bad it was. Breathing basically assists me with my anxiety. I take a deep breath, deep in my belly, and I count to ten and then exhale through my mouth. That relieves my stress and my anxiety. I try to focus on positivity and everything that I'm grateful for. I think honestly, I bullied myself. I had negative self-talk back in the day. I would tell myself I wasn't good enough, I wasn't pretty enough, and mindfulness definitely wasn't part of my vocabulary or in my thoughts. In middle school, my older brother who was born with hydrocephelis, that's water on the brain. A classmate was picking on him and my sister and I got into a physical altercation with this classmate. At the time I knew it was not right. Maybe if I had used mindfulness back in the day, I would have calmed my mind and realized that I need to communicate instead of fighting back. We supported a front runner; heard from a survivor and learned from a scholar on three diseases that continue to plague our country. Le'Dor Phoenix, the 2015 Atlanta Woman of the Year Candidate for the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society stayed with us for the hour. Le'Dor has amazingly changed the game inside and outside her chosen industries while continuing to pursue studies, raise a family and campaign for Lukemia. She is amazing and you will enjoy every word she shares. Sickle Cell Day was on its way but not without the support and rally of Dr. Milford Green. Dr. Green works for the foundation and provides valuable insight we all need to know about ourselves and families. About midways through we met a living inspiration called Mary Ellen Ciganovich. Mary Ellen learned to cope with; did not take traditonal medication for but instea prevaled over two majoy illnesses, an abusive childhood, and the difficultires of single parentlhood to become a whole and dynamic person.

One word for Emily is curious! She is also dedicated and has found yoga helpful for her active lifestyle with marathons, triathlons and in her life. Every time she is in class she gives her best and really wants to learn why we do what we do in yoga to find the results she desires in her body to perform better while running. I love that Emily has really brought the teachings of yoga into her life by being present and appreciating every breath, appreciating her family, friends and the gifts in her life. Yoga does help running - YEAH! She was 20 minutes better in her timing this marathon than her first one a year ago- way to go Emily. Her yoga practice has taught her to be in the moment as she is running seeing that every step is important which has enriched life for her in many ways appreciating how yoga supports her love of running. In her words - they go hand in hand. Emily will be doing a triatholon for The Lukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training - to raise money for this cause this June please click and sponsor her Anusara Yoga Yoga Breath known as Ujjayi BreathThe benefits of Yoga for RunnersYoga for Geeks with Sara PullmanThe Accidental YogistThe Run Podcast Click to subscribe and Listen This week March 15th I am interviewed by Lara of Yoga Peeps - it's a fun conversation she rocks yogini style!
