In this 50th episode and in celebration of our new podcast name, we are excited to host Dr. Shamini Jain, an eminent clinical psychologist and scientist, as she guides us through the revolutionary paradigm shift in holistic wellness and alternative medicine. Author of the award-winning book Healing Ourselves: Biofield Science and the Future of Health (2021), Dr. Jain is also founder and CEO of the Consciousness and Healing Initiative (CHI), a collaborative accelerator that forwards the science and practice of healing. Join us as we delve into the emerging field of biofield science and its profound implications for wellbeing. Dr. Jain explains how biofield science bridges the language of modern medicine and traditional healing systems through overlapping concepts like qi, prana, bioelectricity and cellular membrane potential. Furthermore, we learn how investigating the biofield requires studying molecular biology, energy healing modalities, distance healing and consciousness. Our conversation takes a personal turn as Shamini recounts her powerful early encounters with a Reiki healer which led her to study the emerging field of psychoneuroimmunology. She shares the emotional and physical revelations that led her to a deeper understanding of vibrational healing, energy work and sound therapy. She also discusses the fascinating subject of distant healing and the scientific breakthroughs by researchers Dean Radin and Marilyn Schlitz, exploring how our interconnectedness can transcend time and space. We learn more about the incredible work being done by CHI, and the cultural shift towards a more inclusive view of health. This episode emphasizes the importance of grassroots movements in driving change and the power of collective efforts to shape a future of integrative health. Tune in for an empowering discussion that bridges science and spirituality, offering a fresh perspective on what it means to truly heal.Dr. Shamini Jain is an international keynote speaker, and integrates her background in clinical psychology, psychoneuroimmunology, Eastern spiritual wisdom, and vocal empowerment to teach others how they can best heal themselves and live joyful, fulfilling lives. For this week's episode, Sarah talks with researcher Tracy Poff who is doing her PhD on Medical Intuitives. After visiting a medical medium for an unexplained illness in her family, she felt compelled to study transpersonal psychology and then pursue her doctorate in medical intuitive practices. We talk about what exactly that is, how to discern a good one when meeting someone for the first time, and a general discussion of how intuition can inform all our decisions to make us more in tune with ourselves - a favorite topic on The Side Woo.  About Tracy L. W. Poff Tracy L. W. Poff is a student of Life whose work in the world is to infuse everyday living with the light of divine context. She holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School, and an MA in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Straddling the worlds of intellect and intuition, Tracy is a soul-centered guide whose quest and teaching is to know thyself. She is currently a Ph.D. student in the Transpersonal Psychology program at Sofia University in Palo Alto, California, and the focus of her doctoral research is medical intuition, also known as medical clairvoyance. Medical intuition is a perceptual skill that uses non-local awareness, or extrasensory perception, to assess health conditions of another person. The phenomenon of medical intuition is a fresh area of study within academics and through her work, Tracy hopes to deepen understanding and raise awareness of our intuitive capacity as human beings. Paying Tribute to Dr. Edgar Mitchell. On January 31, 1971, Navy Captain Dr. Edgar Mitchell embarked on a journey into outer space that resulted in becoming the sixth man to walk on the moon.  This historic journey ended safely nine days later. It was an audacious time in the history of mankind. For Dr. Mitchell, however, the most extraordinary journey was yet to come. Traveling back to Earth, having just walked on the moon, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell had an experience for which nothing in his life had prepared him. As he approached the planet we know as home, he was filled with an inner conviction as certain as any mathematical equation he'd ever solved. He knew that the beautiful blue world to which he was returning is part of a living system, harmonious and whole—and that we all participate, as he expressed it later, "in a universe of consciousness."  Within two years of his expedition, Dr. Mitchell founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973 and he serves on the board of directors of the Institute. Watch the Institute of Noetic Sciences video on “Consciousness Matters:  the Mysteries of Inner Space.”  Featuring Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Deepak Chopra, Marilyn Schlitz, Dean Radin and Cassandra Vieten. Deepak Chopra is a world-renowned figure in mind-body medicine who has authored more than 80 books. Marilyn Schlitz is a social anthropologist and public speaker who’s been a leader in the field of consciousness studies for more than three decades. With Sounds True, Marilyn Schlitz has written a new book called Death Makes Life Possible: Revolutionary Insights on Living, Dying, and the Continuation of Consciousness, for which Deepak wrote an insightful foreword. In this special edition of Insights at the Edge, Tami Simon speaks with Marilyn and Deepak about the continuation of consciousness after death. They discuss the Western taboo about direct engagement with death and how we might move past it. In this spirit, Tami, Deepak, and Marilyn also talk about increasing “worldview literacy” and how we may be in the first stages of a “death awareness movement” that seeks to ease the cultural fears around dying. Sister Jenna welcomes Astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell for a thought-provoking interview on the America Meditating Radio Program. Watch the Institute of Noetic Sciences video on “Consciousness Matters :Exploring the Mysteries of Inner Space.”  This video features: Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Deepak Chopra, Marilyn Schlitz, Dean Radin and Cassandra Vieten in an exploration of the Mysteries of Inner Space.  For almost 40 years, the Institute of Noetic Sciences has explored the fundamental powers and potentials of consciousness using the tools of basic science.
