Black History Month has begun, and with the NHL All-Star Game returning to Toronto for the first time since 2000, Donnovan chats with a pair of guests uniquely qualified to discuss them both. Mark Fraser (3:16), former NHL player and current Maple Leafs Director of Culture and Inclusion, joins to chat about the capsule collection blending the iconic visual language of streetwear brand Too Black Guys with the rich history of the Toronto Maple Leafs as a franchise, and how these items did not exist when he was a player (including with the Leafs themselves). Donnovan also chats with Too Black Guys founder Adrian Aitcheson (16:39) who gets into what led them to this point, and to chat about the The No Apologies capsule collection, inspired by the experience of eight Black Toronto Maple Leafs alumni. Afterwards, Donnovan takes a look at Amazon Prime's latest hockey documentary, 'Chosen One: Alexander Daigle' - the former no. 1 overall pick himself stops by, and Daigle (24:54) discusses why this was the right time to revisit his career. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.

The report, produced by NIWA, also revealed 16 percent of the agency's planned developments are set to be built in flood zones. Mark Fraser, Kāinga Ora's general manager, urban development and delivery spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
Hockey culture is experiencing major issues. Racial slurs on the ice, homophobia in the locker room, and a constant stream of allegations of sexual assault at the hands of players and coaches. But the sport itself is a game we love. How can we make things right? Wes sits down with Renee Hess, founder of The Black Girl Hockey Club and Mark Fraser, a former Toronto Maple Leaf who is now on their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team, for a conversation about the future of the sport they love.
Tile installer Mark Fraser discusses the precision and intricacies that it takes to do a high end tile installation, no matter what the application. He has done it all, with projects ranging from showers, walls, fireplaces, high end hotels and even cruise ships. Let's take a moment to learn from the best!
The NHL standings are tight and heading into March the games always get more intense! The Leafs went 7-4-1 in February and while the top line of Matthews-Marner-Bunting is one of the best right now in the NHL, the goaltending has been less than ordinary. These are a few topics we discuss in our segment the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.Despite some of the ugliness, we actually found a bright spot! We also had flashbacks to a Leaf great, who used to take the puck end to end! Who was that Leaf great? Tune in to find out and to hear who made our LTL Highlight Reel!Another exciting moment that all of Canada celebrated was the Gold medal win for the Canadian Olympic Women's hockey team! The Gold medal game was the most watched event of the Beijing games in Canada. We talk about the big victory over the United States and what many people are saying was the best Team Canada ever to represent the women's game.We conclude the show by celebrating Black History Month, which is highlighted every year during the month of February. It is so important to bring awareness to, and improve on, growing the grassroots of the game throughout the year. Former Leafs defenceman Mark Fraser works with MLSE in Player Development – Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and we discuss his involvement with the team and also talk about a personal Scarborough hockey connection that we didn't know about! The funnest part of the season is just around the corner! The trade deadline is a couple weeks away and we are one month closer to the playoffs. Our show is also approaching a significant milestone as we are closing in on our 50th episode! So much to be excited about and we are so grateful to be sharing it with all of you! THE CLASSIC OF ALTERNATE EARTHS! Ancient, encrusted with legend, supposedly empty, the old mansion on Spindrift Key stood like a dark and lowering wraith. In this classic science fiction novel the New York Times called "a fast-moving adventure, told with engaging humor," reporter Elspeth Marriner's nose for news leads her into a world of trouble. Make that, in worlds of trouble. When she and photographer Mack Fraser, the man she loves to hate, are sent to investigate the old mansion in the Hatteras, they never dream that once inside their lives will never be the same. For the house is a gateway to alternate Earths, watched over by a mysterious group called the Workers, who guard against more advanced civilizations crossing the dimensional barriers to conquer defenseless neighbors. From the Workers, Elspeth learns that her and Mack's presence at the house is no accident. They have been personally selected by the Workers for a dangerous assignment. Their unique combination of talents and knowledge are needed to counter a threat that could plunge the entire world into war. If Elspeth accepted the assignment, she would have to cross to another world, aided only by her native ingenuity, then surmount a succession of plots and counterplots, with death the price of failure. Worse, she would have to work more closely than ever with the detested Mark Fraser.

Brendon Goddard said on RSN Central on Monday if the AFL upped umpires salary (to $200k) and made it full-time it would be more enticing for himself and former players to join the ranks and make the transition from playing to umpiring. Mark Fraser has made that shift, we ask him what he thinks about that
The best approach to behavioural change in the inclusion space is often argued and often political. Having the conversation with Mark is a breath of fresh air. It is a conversation with nothing off the table, constructive, honest and most important, creates relatability. Mark Fraser spent 15 years in pro hockey, 8 of those in the NHL. Those years came with being treated differently for the colour of his skin and his cultural differences. Today, Mark has a lead role in Maple Leaf’s Sports & Entertainment, Equity Diversity & Inclusion team. In this episode we point out why the top down approach doesn’t work and why the bottom up approach does. We talk about the power of the minority and the majority working together toward improvement. We reference stories of significant change being made in the sporting world without any governing direction. We also dive into how people can begin creating this change in their own environments/communities without convoluted direction or regulations. Send me an Email Heroic Minds Apparel

On today's episode, I have the honour of being joined by Mark Fraser (5:58). A veteran of the game, Mark has played 14 years of professional hockey that included stops with teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and New Jersey Devils. Known for this physical style of play, Mark encompasses a that traditional defensive-defensemen role that many coaches have coveted. A role that includes blocking shots, playing physical and fighting, it is not one that is as common in today's NHL. Throughout the course of the podcast, myself and Mark discuss his career, some of his perspectives on the shifting culture of the NHL to a more skill-based league, the importance of never becoming complacent, and a ton more. Another week is winding down and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is here to get you set for the weekend. On today's podcast, we looked at NHLers lending their voices for equality, whether or not the playoffs should be permanently expanded, the idea of an asterisk on this year's winner, and more. To start off this week's podcast, we spent some time talking about NHL players that are using their voices to speak out against racism. Not only did we all believe it was incredibly important to show our support for these players that are speaking out, we wanted to highlight some of the stories that are being told as well. (Robin Brownlee wrote a powerful piece here. Matthew Henriques wrote about his experiences in sports here. Former Oiler, Mark Fraser, wrote about his experience at The Player Tribune. We also had an important conversation on yesterday's Real Life Podcast) Sticking with NHL news, the league announced further details about the 24-team playoff format that will hopefully get underway later on in the summer, including the re-seeding of teams after every playoff round. Is this something the league should carry forward? The league also announced that phase two of their return to play plan is set to get underway on Monday, which means that handfuls of Oilers will be able to return to the ice in limited and voluntary sessions. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with a look at the news that Chris Cuthbert will be joining the broadcast team at Sportsnet, which led us to talk about our favourite announcers and moments that hooked us as hockey fans. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Former NHL player Mark Fraser says that growing up there were times as an African-American he felt that he couldn't truly be himself around his hockey teammates. Fraser also says that it's one thing for the NHL to send out tweets and social media posts condemning intolerance in the hockey community, but that the league should put initiatives in place to help better address the issue.
