Coach Greg Jackson is a mixed martial arts trainer who co-owns Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, widely considered the top MMA training camp globally. Coach Jackson has trained many successful fighters, including former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski, and countless other professional MMA athletes and champions. Greg comes from a family of pacifists, and he grew up in a rough neighborhood. Because he needed to learn how to defend himself, he began learning martial arts. While the young Jackson was occasionally passive in fighting, he would also be an aggressor in brawls and was suspended from school on more than one occasion. After graduating High School, he founded his martial art, Gaidojutsu, which combines rudimentary techniques from wrestling and kickboxing with basic judo locks. He then developed his craft by adding techniques from other styles such as wrestling, grappling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and kickboxing. His school officially turned into an MMA school in 2000. In 2007 Jackson teamed up with striking coach Mike Winkeljohn, and since then, the gym has been known by the name Jackson Wink MMA Academy.

Overcoming a religious cult for the first ten years of her life, Rebecca Knight found a promising future in martial arts. Read Rebecca's full bio here: www.themartialartswoman.com Rebecca's Story: My childhood was difficult at best. I grew up in a religious cult (in Mexico) and endured physical, mental/emotional and sexual abuse for the first 10 years of my life. After moving back to the states when I was 10 years old, I found that it was nearly impossible for me to trust anyone, including myself. I struggled with self esteem, and confidence in every situation and doubted that I could ever recover from the trauma that I had gone through. I attended my first Kenpo lesson in 1996, and immediately felt something that I had never felt before - a small and delicate sense of worth, which grew over they years to an overwhelming feeling of confidence and strength. That feeling that was cultivated in me is why I train, and why I teach…to see that bloom in the hearts of the student that I teach, to show each and every one of them what they are truly capable of - and that is ANYTHING they put their mind and heart into!!! Rebecca Knight, the martial art instructor: I teach because……I have the ability to encourage positive change; I have room for creativity; I am challenged; I can see improvement in myself and others; I can encourage respect and discipline; I can share my passion for the martial arts with others. I am proud to have been included on the Kenpo Compendium (by Amy Long) on 2008, I was featured on the Kenpo Women Website (http://www.kenpowomen.com/2012/08/06/rebecca-knight/) in 2012, and am most humbled by my inclusion as an honoree in Tom Bleecker's The Journey - Book 3 2019. My husband and I own and Operate the American Institute of Kenpo in Tucson Arizona, and will be celebrating our school's 20th Anniversary next September!!! Nearly 48 hours after a controversial end to UFC 247, Ariel delivers his thoughts on the main event and how officiating soured the night. One fighter affected by the officiating, lightweight James Krause, first explains why he took a fight on such short notice and also why even though he lost, he actually feels like he won (21:06). "The Black Beast" Derrick Lewis, a winner at 247, then talks about the emotions of winning in his hometown of Houston...and why he no longer trusts Ariel (42:00). Then, fresh off a dominant title defense against Katlyn Chookagian, flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko discusses why she approaches each fight differently, the early stoppage, if she'll consider fighting Amanda Nunes and her unique relationship with actress Halle Berry (1:02:56). Next, Dominick Reyes opens up about his emotions following an impressive performance against Jon Jones and explains why he feels the referees robbed him of the light heavyweight title (1:23:28). Plus, Reyes discusses how he felt in the late rounds of the fight, if he has any regrets, what Jones and Dana White told him afterward, the support he's received from the MMA community and if he wants an immediate rematch with Jones. Then, Jones' striking coach, Mike Winkeljohn of Jackson Wink, says he and Jones respect Reyes and how he battled on Saturday night, but that the judges ultimately made the correct decision in awarding Jones the victory (1:44:15). UFC welterweight Diego Sanchez, who fights this weekend in New Mexico, then issues an important warning to fighters and everyday people who take supplements to look and train better (2:08:09). Light heavyweight contender Jan Blachowicz, who also fights on Saturday, next talks about the Jones/Reyes fight and what he feels he must accomplish in order to jump ahead of Reyes in the eyes of the UFC (2:32:21). Lastly, "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung talks about the possibility of fighting Alexander Volkanovski...and why he thinks he's an easier opponent than Frankie Edgar (2:44:10).
This week on Heavy Hands, we're breaking down Chris Weidman's long overdue (but likely ill-fated) light heavyweight debut, recapping Joanna Jedrzejczyk's dominant win over Michelle Waterson, and tearing our eyes away from the UFC hypno toad just long enough to mention Demetrious Johnson's win over Danny Kingad. Chris Weidman probably waited too long for this move up in weight--but then, Dominick Reyes has pretty much never fought a wrestler Jeremy Stephens vs Yair Rodriguez, abridged edition. Check out episode 281 for our original breakdown Joanna Jedrzejczyk brought back some of the old aggression, and revealed that, apparently, Mike Winkeljohn's fighters don't have very good boxing CHITO. VERA. He's getting better, bantamweights, and you're next And much more. Too much more, really. We need help.
