Monsters! Ah! Aliens! Double ah! But Monsters vs. Aliens? So many ah's! Amanda and Wade discuss the nice and easy, feel-good charms of this Reece Witherspoon animated film, including, but not limited to, Amanda's peculiar form of face blindness, Seth Rogan's affability, Dreamworks' animated face skills, and the mating habits of the praying mantis. True, a quick wikipedia search will show that Wade is mistaken about mantises. Also, as a bonus game, try to count the number of times the term "gaslighting" is used. It's the word of the day! We spend about half of it quoting Monsters Vs. Aliens. Because it's great:)
It’s time to forget the world and its many strange moments these last months, indulging in a Kiefer Sutherland/Reese Witherspoon/Rainn Wilson animated movie that Johnny has wanted to see for a long time. Yes it’s a very slight piece of Dreamworks Animation, but stay for the Invisible Man tangent, the examination of spin-offs and casting, and a little touch of monster-naming-and-power-having fun that only two very broken brains could let go on for so long.
After dealing with the Mutant Pumpkins, our monster heroes still need to deal with zombie carrots!

Have you ever heard of Christmas in July? Well, Arun and Patricia are doing Halloween in May to discuss about the 2009 animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens. The movie is about a woman named Susan who is ready to get married to a reporter when she is struck by a meteor and turns into a 50 foot giantess. She was sought after by a secret organization where she is teamed up with a group of monsters to fight off against aliens who are planning on invading Earth. However, Susan is struggling with her new size and new life when all she wanted was to be a housewife. Will she learn to accept her new life as a defender of the Earth? When the movie premiered in theaters, it made $381 million dollars and has received mixed reviews from critics and viewers. Since then, the movie has spun off into a franchise with specials and an animated series on Nickelodeon. How does it compare to other movies that spun off into franchises like Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon? Does the movie hold up? Listen and find out.
