The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are nearing their limit with The Flop Era, where they look at some of the biggest fiascos and failures of Hollywood's modern history, but it's taking its toll, and 2011's "Mars Needs Moms" might just be the most expensive awful-looking movie of all time, one of those ate aughts mo-cap animated films that were canned after the tremendous financial failure of this martian parable about respecting your mother. Episode 420 includes: -Disney is trying to use their free-trail subscriptions to get out of all sorts of legal liability. Exploitation! -Trailer responses for "Sonic 3" and the next film from the team that gave us "Psycho Goreman." -Ben and Nate wrestle with the charms and miscues of the Paul Feig comedy, "Jackpot!" -Ben thinks "Cucko"'s ultimate revealtion is a bit of a ... "so what?" that drains the rest of the film. -The Flop Era -- "Mars Needs Moms" (2011) -A kid blasts off to Mars to save his mom because, apparently, all those little Martians are harvested from the ground and need maternal figures to care for them. It's a bad bad movie, and it's made even worse by how terrible it looks on the eyes with its uncanny valley of horror.
This week we're watching our fiancée die in increasingly hilarious ways, as we kick off our time-travel theme month SepTIMEber with an early 2000s forgotbuster that's better left in the past. It's 2002's The Time Machine, directed by Simon Wells, written by John Logan, and starring Guy Pearce, Jeremy Irons, Orlando Jones, Mark Addy, Samantha Mumba, Omero Mumba and Sienna Guillory. The story of a man driven mad by loss and the desire to change the past, it's a movie that was directed by H.G. Wells' great-grandson, a somewhat notable name in 90s animation tasked with making what would prove to be his one and only live-action feature. While there are a handful of technically impressive elements on display here, we're not gonna lie: this was a rough watch, a tough start for what we hope will be rip-roaring month of fun for the next three weeks. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, which this week we absolutely do not recommend, well... good luck, babe! The Time Machine is not streaming anywhere north of the border, and Hayley had to watch it on a weird Chinese pirate video website that undoubtedly loaded her computer with viruses. Other works discussed in this episode include Adam Sandler: Love You, Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh, Don't Mess With The Zohan, The Wedding Singer, Strange Darling, Cuckoo, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland (2010), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Avengers: Endgame, L.A. Confidential, Memento, Mars Needs Moms, and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. We'll be back next Friday as SepTIMEber continues with a rare misfire from the late great Richard Donner, as we finally catch up with 2003's Timeline, starring Paul Walker, Frances O'Connor and Gerard Butler. Timeline is not currently streaming in Canada, though perhaps our American listeners will have better luck with that. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!
Not even going to sugar coat this, Mars Needs Moms is the worst Animated Disney Movie we have watched so far. But in this show! We bring the goods with Descendants Talk! The Rise of Red is out! Should you watch it? Also, just in time for the Paris Olympics, You can watch The Young Woman and the Sea. Seriously! Go watch it! We have a few other surprises up our sleeves in this episode. So enjoy!
Take the microwave memes. This week we talk about getting ready for the upcoming ACEN, the ongoing battle between Kendrick and Drake, going this year's C2E2, Sony trying to make you connect your HellDivers 2 account to a Playstation account, Sony redacting that idea, Watcher doing the same thing, then redacting that idea, Kindergarten Cop, Call Me By Your Name, Mars Needs Moms, rewatching Taxi Driver, Challengers, Argylle, The Contestant, Unfrosted, and the Star Wars Holiday Special. This week, we discuss 2011's Mars Needs Moms. A Seth Green movie that doesn't really feature Seth Green. A rare Disney animated movie not from one of it main animation studios. And motion capture galore. For the final fifth birthday episode, Disney could see that motion capture was quickly becoming the next big thing for animation, and they wanted in. They teamed up with Robert Zemeckis to make A Christmas Carol, and then Mars Needs Moms, based on a children's book, written to persuade a young child to eat his vegetables. But Mars Needs Moms would not only be incredibly dark for a family animated film, and venture deep into the realms of the uncanny valley, it would also become a huge box office bomb for Disney, affecting their next Martian-set movie John Carter, and who Disney now do their best to avoid promoting in any way as their own...

this is a comedy ""podcast"" btw believe it or not. It is a joke, it is parody, it is satire. It is not serious; it is not meant to be taken seriously. I do not condone the physical harming or even light harassment of real estate agents in any way shape or form. Do not call, text, or email Jeffrey Doussan or Keller Williams of New Orleans. Do not write funny bad reviews on yelp or google or furnished finder. Do not send pipe bombs or bomb threats to his house or any of his listed properties. I mean it! If you do any of these things you will be banned from podcasts forever. Thank you enjoy the show. Looking at rentals is really fun cuz real estate agents and property managers are some of the most redacted and oblivious people you have to trust with your livelihood. Recently I had scheduled to see a place and the guy no showed, no contact I messaged and emailed him multiple times and 3 days later he texted "apologies out of town." He then proceeds to try to reschedule immediately for the next day at 11am I say can we do 2pm he says no we can't let's do Monday 2pm I say okay Monday 2pm he says great I say great and then he says actually we can do tomorrow Friday 2pm i say perfect cool then Friday at 11am he says you must think we're crazy but we're actually just short-handed can you do monday 2pm and then i showed up today Monday at 2pm and the guy is 10 minutes late, I text the guy and he said "oh Philip's not there?" Philip the minion shows up within 1 minute of me texting, Philip says haha it's good thing our office is right around the corner and he points to a building literally right behind the rental and gives me the dorkiest fcking smile and I want to drown Philip in a puddle. We go to open the door and he doesn't have the right keypad code. I stand around in the rain for about 5 minutes while he calls and texts people and then he's like oh we can just try the other side of the duplex and I asked if the other side is the same layout and price and furnishings and he said no so I said no and so we sat in the rain for another 5 minutes and he finally gets the code and we go in. It looks like the last tenant had just left, all the lights and tvs are on and trash cans full, poop splatters on the toilet and it smells like cat piss. Despite this, I message the property manager that I am interested and would like to move forward with my application and he likes my message and says nothing else. $1400/month. a few years ago, a property manager was stunned that I requested to inspect the house before signing a legal document that said we conducted an inspection and told me I was the first person to ever do so. He addressed me as "Gay bro" in a text and it was never acknowledged $1754/month 440 sq feet #italiano #realestateagent #propertymanagement When you were investing in real estate, I studied the blade. When you were having open houses, I mastered the blockchain. While you wasted your days at the bank in pursuit of equity, I cultivated inner strength. And now that the world is on fire and the barbarians are at the gate you have the audacity to come to me for rent. It's free! Real estate! We're giving you land! It's free. We're giving you a house. It's real estate. Free. It's a free house for you, Jim. This is free real estate! You gotta bring furniture, but the house is free! Two bedrooms, no rugs. It's free! You unlock the door to your free house, we got you the real estate! It's a two bedroom house, its free, its got a pool in the back. I'm not carrying this around all day! It's for your house! Free real estate, I'll pee my pants. Jim, come get your damn land. It's a free house! Jim, I got real estate. Jim, does it get better than this? Jim! The house is free! Jim! The house is free! Mars Needs Moms AKA the film that Disney pressed self destruct on. This movie in all of its glory is a cinematic masterpiece. A work of art packed to the brim with A-LIST talent from the crew to the cast. Every ounce of this movie lives up to its 150 million dollar budget and anyone with a pair of eyes will agree its terrible reviews don't make a lick of sense. That is until you start digging. On Certified Cinephiles season 1, we have only barely scratched the surface of Hollywood's elitist deep state. In this season's penultimate episode, we show you just WHY one of the world's most powerful studios decided to go to great lengths in order to publicly flop their own movie, and just why we have never seen mocap animation since. next episode will be our last before we take a break to gear up for season 2 of certified cinephiles. thank you so much for your patience while we get things in order and rework the show a bit! we've learned a lot from these first 16 episodes, and we look forward to expanding the certified cinephiles universe. thanks to those of you who have been here from the beginning: we love you for loving our weird movie podcast. we plan to be back in late october or early november--stay tuned for more info on season two of certified cinephiles. movie boys!!!!!!!!

School librarian Tricia Fraser shares how educators and parents can foster a love of reading in their children. Don't miss her book suggestions for all ages! Click to read the article by Tricia “When we slow down and read a book, it gives us an opportunity to think about things deeply and to use our imaginations.” “When kids have a choice of what to read, it helps them discover more of what they like.” “We want to be modeling a love of books, we want to be sharing books with them, because the goal is to have them have their own motivation to read that's internal.” “The single biggest thing that anybody - teachers and parents - can do to help kids learn to love to read is to read to them.” Battle of the Books Sources for finding books: Redeemed Reader, Read-Aloud Revival, WORLD Magazine, Triple Crown Awards, The Tome Society, Shadow Mountain Tricia's recent read: Within These Lines by Stephanie Morrill Keane's recent reads: Sam and Dave Dig a Hole by Mac Barnett and Bo the Brave by Bethan Woollvin Christian authors with undertones of Christian worldview: Books by N. Hanna's Cold Winter by Trish Marx: This is a story of trying to keep the hippos in the Budapest zoo fed all winter during WWII, based on a true story. Mars Needs Moms! by Berkeley Breathed: I read this story at Easter as a new way of illustrating Jesus' sacrificial love for us, comparing our relationship with Him to the relationship of the little boy in the story with his mom. Grades 3-5 The Penderwicks Series by Jeanne Birdsall: These are adventure-filled friendship stories with a lot of heart. The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan: Adventure, bows & arrows, good guys vs. bad guys, what's not to love? We end the Robert Zemeckis saga with 'Mars Needs Moms' one of the biggest bombs of all time, so bad that it shut down the entire company. We take a look at this 2011 CG animated film and find out if it is as bad as we think it is.
Berkeley Breathed is perhaps best known for his comic strips "Bloom County," "Outland," and "Opus." But he's also a gifted children's book creator. I first met him in 2003, upon publication of his book "Flawed Dogs." We tal;;kerd again in 2007 after he published "Mars Needs Moms," which later became a Disney animated film. It's about a 9-year-old boy named Milo who comes to appreciate everything about his mom, after she's abducted by Martians.
Mars Needs Moms is a Disney motion capture movie staring Seth Green, Dan Fogler, and Joan Cusack. Directed by Simon Wells this movie became Disney's second biggest flop in the box office. The Story follows Milo(Seth Green) as he argues with his mother(Joan Cusack) over literally nothing. She gets kidnapped by Martians and it is up to Milo to save his mother.
Hello Everyone, Today’s episode was recorded on the 28th of May. Since then, the narrative online has pivoted towards the deeply rooted systematic injustices that plague American society at every level. During this time, everyone with a platform owes their support to the growing movement attempting to enact social change. Both of us at Boardwalk Talk are deeply appalled by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police who abused the power entrusted to them. Not only are we pained by the murder of George Floyd, but also the routine abuses of power that have taken the lives of other innocent Black men and women. Black Lives Matter, and recognizing this simple truth is just as important now as it ever has been. Please show your support for the movement by visiting this link and pledging either your signature for the various petitions or money for various fundraisers. No matter who you are, your support is meaningful and can be the difference between progress and inaction. Black Lives Matter Carrd: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ On the show, we are lucky to have Blake Roark back on the show to discuss another animated film. This time, we turn our focus to one of Disney’s worst, the ImageMovers Animated Film Mars Needs Moms! Did we hate it? Yes! Is it awful? Yes! Is this episode a better use of your time than actually watching the film? Absolutely. This episode was actually recorded moments before the Seth Green cut of the film was leaked online. Each week, we go deep into the Disney+ catalog and take a look at things that you might have missed, and tell you if they worth adding to your watchlist. For this episode, we picked a film that was just added to Disney+ on April 1st. And no, I’m not joking––it’s Mars Needs Moms! Mars Needs Moms, released in 2011, was animated in motion capture by the Robert Zemeckis company, Image Movers Digital. In this film, we’re introduced to Milo, a 9-year-old boy who has a lot on his mind: He has monster movies to watch, comic books to read, and all other kinds of fun stuff to accomplish. He definitely does not have time to do homework, or eat his vegetables. Milo's getting tired of his mom nagging him to do these things, and his mom is tired of nagging. But just as Milo is telling his mom that life would be more fun without her, Martians kidnap her. Milo stows away on their spaceship, determined to launch a rescue. Now, I know you’re probably feeling a little nervous right now, but don’t worry—every person thinking about watching Mars Needs Moms has felt that way at one time or another. Before you decide if it’s right for you, come along on a test run with us as we venture to the red planet and take you... Deep in the Plus! Mars Needs Moms has has all the elements you would think you'd need for a good Disney movie, yet this movie certainly didn't resonate with audiences when it was first released. The movie cost $150 million to make, and another estimated $60 million to promote, yet cleared less than $40 million at the domestic box office. While this was disappointing, it is said to have brought the partnership between Disney and ImageMovers to an end. I'm almost as disappointed in the fact that we didn't get to see the other projects come to be, such as Calling All Robots, a Yellow Submarine remake, and saddest of all, the Roger Rabbit sequel. At the same time, I'm really torn because this style of animation is just... well... creepy. But watch this episode and decide for yourself. Is this movie for you? Do you agree with our thoughts? And don't forget, in every episode of Deep in the Plus, you'll get bonus recommendations as we present our "Pick of the Week." This is where we offer suggestions on even more gems from the Disney+ vault. Don't miss it! Our review of Mars Needs Moms is the 11th episode of Deep in the Plus! This week, your lovely and very patient hosts suffered through the 2011 motion capture disaster, Mars Needs Moms. Take pity on us as we speculate about the life of Robert Zemeckis, if Seth Green was paid enough for this, and why the alien's hips are a mile wide. If you have a Starz subscription you can stream the film, but otherwise, you'll have to rent this one. As always, you can find us on twitter at our not great handle: @animatedopinio2 There's two of us, so I guess it makes sense?

Andrew and Jeff mostly talk about the movie Mars Needs Moms.
The last time Vicky, Nolan and Jill watched a collaboration between Disney and ImageMovers Digital it was...well it was Mars Needs Moms and it was one of the worst movies any of our hosts had seen. But it seems like even an effort to create MoCap Monstrosities can't overcome the Christmas spirit, as their adaptation of the Dickens classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, manages to impress all of our hosts to varying degrees. And that''s in spite of it not featuring any Muppets.

Despite our recommendations to stay away, The Rock still came out victorious at the box office this week. Rampage took the number one spot, beating out A Quiet Place, Truth or Dare, Ready Player One and Blockers. But, with all of his success, can The Rock actually be the new flop king? Check out this week's episode to see if The Rock takes the crown or if someone else currently sits on the throne. This week its all about flops! From the conventional choices: Nick Cage, Mars Needs Moms, Gerard Butler. To the surprise failures: Man From U.N.C.L.E., Keanu Reeves, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. We break down all of the expected and unexpected failures in film history. We also have a brand new Top 5 and a fresh batch of PICKS OF THE WEEK. We got all that and so much more on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
On the third episode of Awake in the Dark, I'm joined by my friend Taylor as we unravel time and space to discuss A Wrinkle in Time, the latest Disney film based on the children's novel by Madeleine L'Engle. We'll also discuss a couple notable Netflix series, including The Crown and the new docuseries Flint Town. Then we do a brief Oscar recap and give the Academy some advice for next year's telecast. There's even a Mars Needs Moms reference for good measure. Find us on Facebook, Twitter and Letterboxd.

Damn, Damn, Damn. Did anyone honestly think this would good, honestly? Following in the horrible footsteps of other crappy animated films like Mars Needs Moms, and Planet 51 we give you our thoughts on the movie that shouldn't exist; Norm of the North!
Y'know D Lovers, sometimes you make an animated film about a woman and a beast finding the best in each other and falling in love and you get nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Other times you make a motion-capture film about an annoying kid who follows his stolen mother to Mars where she's going to be vaporized by an alien species because they need to steal her memories to plant them into the robots they use to raise their female children who hatch from the ground every 25 years (they just throw the males in the garbage) because that's just how Martian society works??? - and you end up losing A LOT of money. Vicky, Nolan and Jill know that Disney isn't perfect, but we'd like to believe the movie studio responsible for so many strongly written and animated classics could have seen all the missteps in story (or lack thereof) and lifeless animation while this particular film was being made not too long ago. But nobody is perfect, and that's what brings us together today to talks MARS NEEDS MOMS right here on We Want The D.
Steve Cooper talks with actor Mindy Sterling. Mindy is best known for her role as Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers movies. She is very active with the LA based comedy group The Groundlings and her film rolls include Drop Dead Gorgeous and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. On the TV front she has been one of the stars or recurring characters on A.N.T. Farm, My Own Worst Enemy, iCarly, Desperate Housewives and Legit to name a few. She also does voice work where some of her credits include The Legend of Korra, Chowder, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Robot Chicken, Kick Buttowski, Mars Needs Moms and The Looney Tunes Show.
Today is a very special day at Mousterpiece Cinema HQ, because it's finally happened. After months of searching, after hours of discussion, we have found a film that Mike doesn't love. In fact, this is a film that Mike had an easier time nitpicking. Yes, that's right, folks, Mike can nitpick, too! In this epic episode, Josh and Mike get right into the nitty-gritty of what is currently the biggest box-office flop in film history: Mars Needs Moms, a motion-capture animated movie based on the Berkeley Breathed book of the same name. Is the movie as bad as you might think? Do cats like broccoli? Did Mike dislike a movie more than Josh for once? Could it be possible? Check out the new show to find out!

Your old pals Jeff Bayer and Eric D. Snider are off to Austin for South By Southwest, but that didn’t stop them from delivering a piping-hot new edition of Movie B.S. with Bayer and Snider first! All the movies this week are about aliens and monsters and stuff. “Battle Los Angeles” offers good action, too much shaky-cam, and war-movie cliches. “Red Riding Hood” is stupid. “Mars Needs Moms” is flat and lifeless. B & S also play a game of Interquel that gets dark and weird, announce the winners of last week’s propaganda contest, and add a few new agents to the Movie B.S. census. QOTW: What movie alien would you most like to find in your back yard, and why? (Note: No humanoids, e.g., Luke Skywalker.) Send your answers to moviebspdx@gmail.com, or post at facebook.com/moviebspdx. If you’re in Austin for SXSW, keep an eye on Twitter — @MovieBS, @EricDSnider, @BayerJeff — for a meet-up.
