I've never met anyone quite like Miki Agrawal. She's incredibly creative. No really. She once hosted a “funeral for a tree” at an old cathedral in NYC hosted by comedians and actors. It drew a crowd of thousands, generated millions in free press, and helped shed light on the toilet paper waste that her company TUSHY can help solve.  She understands trends in marketing. She knows how to grab attention. So much so that she was banned by the NY transit authority from running subway ads. Which led to a PR fight that she won…and in the end, got more press and attention than if they hadn't been banned.  She's also warm and kind and FUN.  She's created multiple 9-Figure businesses and has garnered some pretty incredible recognition. She was named "Fast Company's Most Creative People", “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum and INC's “Most Impressive Women Entrepreneurs”. She's also the author of #1 best selling books Do Cool SH*T and Disrupt-HER. In this episode we unpack Miki's wacky, impossible-to-forget and wildly successful marketing strategies and tactics. Here's a look at what we cover: How Miki was banned from advertising on the NYC subway and turned that into a huge PR win for her brand THINX. How to use Accessible + Relatable language.  How to create ads that are both effective and “fridge worthy”. How iteration is perfection. How to start with play to create great ideas.

Hey Brave Table fam, welcome back—you're in for a goodie today! In this chat with Miki Agrawal, the ultimate girl boss queen, we go all in—touching on everything from infertility and motherhood; to deep healing and inner work; to navigating big challenges that may come up as an entrepreneur in your journey.   Miki is the founder of Tushy, Thinx, and Wild. All of these companies have been disrupted by who she is and what she stands for. She is also the author of the #1 best-selling books Do Cool Sh*T and Disrupt-Her, and was named "Fast Company's Most Creative People", “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum, and INC's “Most Impressive Women Entrepreneurs”. Miki is a true visionary when it comes to making periods, poop, and organic food sexy— completely disrupting and dominating industries that most others shy away from.    Hear why she stepped down as CEO of her own company and a breakdown that led to creating another 9-figure business—but not before sinking into the depths of an inner reckoning. She shares how to use traumatic life experiences as a means for massive growth, an opportunity for learning/unlearning, and having even more conviction in your work.    We also talk about feminism and the importance of celebrating women instead of clawing each other for a seat at the table in our patriarchal society. Instead, can we be inspired by other women and not envious? Can we choose to lift each other up and not want to take each other down? How do we change the system that's keeping us small—in a fear-based world—and start operating from a place of abundance rather than lack?    Some of the juicy nuggets you'll experience in this episode:  - Overcoming struggles during your most vulnerable moments  - The dangers of ‘extremism' and leaning too much into alternative stances - Having gratitude for even your worst feelings and what it means to feel truly alive - Learning how to choose every single day what you focus on and put your energy into - The importance of creating diversity in the workplace and your community, and learning the true depths of diversity - How to be brave in the face of cancel culture, share your truth, and attract the right people to your work - Observing yourself in your toughest moments, finding the beauty in the breakdown, and extracting lessons from your sucky human moments - Letting go of reacting to low-vibrational shit, letting your work speak for itself, and doing things out of integrity - Moving into the matriarchy, awakening the divine feminine, and how to be a seductress in your life - The importance of meeting people where they are  - Miki's healing regimens & nourishing practices that you can use when going through a tough time If you liked this episode…   - Check out Miki's website here https://mikiagrawal.com/ and on Instagram at @mikiagrawal - Buy Miki's books on Amazon: Do Cool Sh*t https://www.amazon.com/Do-Cool-Sh-Business-Happily/dp/0062366858 and Disrupt-Her https://www.amazon.com/Disrupt-Her-Manifesto-Modern-Miki-Agrawal-ebook/dp/B079P32W22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&keywords=disrupt-her%20book&qid=1542383560&s=digital-text&sr=1-1  - Listen to Being Brave in Building Your LifePass with Payal Kadakia: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/payal-kadakia-being-brave-in-building-your-lifepass/id1608226580?i=1000553155461  - Check out How to Build Unconventional Wealth & Abundance with Codie Sanchez https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/codie-sanchez-how-to-build-unconventional-financial/id1608226580?i=1000553932009 - Find out how to know if you are ready to pursue your purpose & change your life like Miki did https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-to-know-if-you-are-ready-to-pursue-your-purpose/id1608226580?i=1000554190755    Thanks for listening, fam. You probably don’t know much about menopause… and the things that you do know might be based on stereotypes more than actual facts. That’s because, unfortunately, despite being an important—and inevitable—life stage for literally every woman on earth, it hasn’t been studied very much! (shocker)  In this week’s interview, we talk with Jill Angelo about the myths and stigmas of menopause, the lack of resources and support for women going through it (aka, eventually, all women), and the ways in which we can all—men, women, and folx—better normalize and create greater visibility surrounding this transformational life stage. In case you think this isn't relevant to you—think again.  Jill Angelo is the CEO and founder of Gennev, a company dedicated to bringing the world a better menopause experience. I’m pretty intense and hardcore about everything – immigrant family mentality.”, (7:12). Desiring to genuinely chill out at times to calm her mind, (9:08). Spending her entire life as an entrepreneur and having a ‘getting after it’ mentality, (9:30). Playing soccer and badminton at a young age, (9:58). Being taken off the basketball team by her dad, (10:45). Having been the smallest people on the field with her sister, (12:57). “You lose a play, you have to get up, get back and your head into the game. Playing D-1 soccer all 4 years at Cornell, (20:10). Quitting with her sister after her coach wanted to bench her last 2 games senior year, (18:37). “My sister and I found out the investment banks were holding first come first serve interviews for anyone in the communication and arts school. They pick one or two from the school to bring in a creative perspective.”, (20:38). Getting to the final round of interviews for every investment bank with her sister and receiving a job, (23:10). Starting her job at the investment bank in NYC during 9/11, (23:50). “It made me realize that life is so short. I calculated from 22 years old to the point you die, you only have 21,000 days to live. The average human dies at around 80-85. 21,000 dies to live and what are we going to do with our lives? Are we going to spend it chasing down money or are we going to follow our dreams or passions?”, (25:39). Making it into the New York Magic soccer team, (27:56). Working in the film business as a production assistant in NY after investment banking, (30:26). Wanting to create NYC’s first gluten-free, organic pizza in 2004 after giving up eating pizza, (32:09). Bringing together a group of people to start a business idea, (37:10). “I always lead with, ‘How can I help you first?’ before asking for help first.”, (37:35). “That is what I keep on telling people. Just DM people and tell them you want to work for them for free for a couple of months.”, (40:52). “You have to know what your zone of genius us. My zone of genius is definitely not operations. I’m a creative. I come up with the ideas, the campaign, the aesthetics and I find people.”, (46:00). Breaking down the stigmas of talking about reproductive health for women, (49:08). Delivering 3,000 pairs of underwear for women, (52:57). Not being allowed to say the word, ‘period’ on ads in NYC and made a full press story about it, putting them on the map, (56:00).
