Pass the podcast 'pon the left hand side, ammirite? Ha ha ha. We have fun. And speaking of fun, here's a wild one from the Ebersol years. Joan Rivers! Y'all know her. Comedienne extraordinaire, red carpet correspondent and world class Liz Taylor hater. She's here to host one of the loudest episodes of the show's history, complete with one of the show's most strangely under-seen moments of joyfully coming off the rails. And then there's poor Musical Youth, exhaustedly performing their early 80s hits late in the night's proceedings. It's a bit of a mess and Update...ooh boy, Update. Are the bits of shocking racism and Joan River's bursting-at-the-seams energy enough to sink Timmy's ship or will the gleeful madness save him in the nick of time? Tune in to find out.

Pete Byrne of Naked Eyes was one of the first interviews I did solo for Stuck in the '80s. It was back in 2008 and I had just seen the band perform as part of the Regeneration Tour in Las Vegas. Pete and I had a great chat as he shared stories behind some of the band's biggest hits. Naked Eyes is playing on the 2025 voyage of The 80s Cruise, so it's a good time to revisit this classic interview. Prior to this episode, Jemma had mainly associated the word 'Duchy' with Musical Youth, the band from the 80's who used to pass it on the left hand side. Since delving into the C4 Dispatches 'The King, The Prince and Their Secret Millions' she's had to catch up pretty quickly. Marina feels a mixture of vindicated and furious and neither of the Trawl ladies can get their heads around charging high rents to charities you're patrons of, owning sea-beds and being an advocate for the climate issues when your own properties aren't insulated properly. There's a lot to discuss. After hearing a vintage clip of Robert Smith, lead singer of The Cure, Marina's a huge fan..Larry and Paul serve up a wonderful pudding.

In 1982, Grammy nominated reggae band Musical Youth achieved global success with their hit “Pass The Dutchie,” a song based on The Mighty Diamonds' “Pass The Kouchie.” Three decades later, members Dennis Seaton, Michael Grant, Kelvin Grant, Frederick Waite Junior (Junior Waite), and a representative of Patrick Waite's estate initiated legal proceedings in 2004 against their lawyers according to court documents obtained by WMV. This, after losing a previous dispute stemming from a 1984 agreement outlining the division of royalties between the owners of the copyright in the original work and the derivative work. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/worldmusicviews/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/worldmusicviews/support
