The 94 WIP Morning Show was shocked and reacted in a variety of ways to Dave Dombrowski and Rob Thomson's press conferences that occurred yesterday afternoon. Joe DeCamara and Devan Kaney are ok with what Dombrowski said- they think it is hard to win in the MLB. Jon Ritchie, James Seltzer, and Rhea Hughes were not happy and found the excuses to be exhausting and 'loser-like.' What did you think of their press conferences? Dombrowski surprisingly called out Bryce Harper, questioning if he would ever be elite again, and fired back at Matt Strahm after Strahm's comments about lack of practice after the Orion Kerkering play went awry. Eliot Shorr-Parks joined the show and was upset with Dombrowski, thinking he made too many excuses and is too comfortable being '2nd best.' Eliot is also unsure how the Eagles will play this Sunday citing that they haven't given him a reason to believe they'll win. Coach Dick Vermeil joined the show, but alternatively believes the Eagles will bounce back in Minnesota. Drop of the Week and Time's Yours will give you some laughs!
NO SHOW TOMORROW - BACK ON WEDNESDAY! Today's word of the day is ‘final four' as in the Mariners as in the Blue Jays as in Seattle as in Toronto as in the ALCS! The Mariners took the first game 3-1 behind great pitching and the big players making big moments. Cal Raleigh homered. Jorge Polanco picked up two RBI. The Blue Jays couldn't hit. Long series though! (19:20) The Dodgers are going with Blake Snell and then Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2. Where is Ohtani? Well, the Dodgers have a plan for that. What about the Brewers? An opener? (31:30) Let's go back to that Phillies loss. A rushed errant throw by Orion Kerkering was it. A mental mistake for the ages. (36:00) What are the Cubs going to do with Kyle Tucker? Is he a longterm Cub? Is he leaving? (38:30) Review: Play Dirty. (45:00) It looks like Albert Pujols is likely to become the next manager of the Los Angeles Angels. Welp. (50:00) NPPOD. Send us a textDid you stay up late to watch game one of the ALCS Sunday night the 12th? #Mariners and #BlueJays both entered the American League in 1977. Toronto has won 2 World Series but the Mariners have never won a pennant. Will they get past the Jays who have the home field advantage? We make our points and tell you why one of the teams may win easily! Mariners got by the #Tigers winning a 15 inning classic in game 5. George Kirby hopes he never has to face Kerry Carpenter again! But the M's had Leo Rivas and Jorge Polanco to rescue their season although Cal Raleigh did all he could. Jays kind of bludgeoned #Yankees who had pitching and fielding issues despite getting a terrific performance from odds-on favorite for ALMVP Aaron Judge. #Dodgers vanquished #Phillies. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner just didn't do enough. Neither team hit all that well and it was defense and coming through in the clutch that led L.A. to the 4-game victory. Mookie's wheel play in game 2 was amazing and just perfect. Orion Kerkering's brain fart to lose game 5 and the series was unfortunate. We feel bad for him. Now Dodgers get the #Brewers who subdued the #Cubs also in 5 games. Brew Crew did the little things a little better and home field meant everything as the home team won every game. Will L.A. overcome Brewer mojo? Listen/watch us take that on! Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! Check them out on Spotify or Apple Music! ITS LITTLE LEAGUE WITH BIG $$$You may never have heard of Orion Kerkering of the Philadelphia Phillies but he ended his team's season with a bad choice, and a bad throw. The Los Angeles Dodgers have booked their 8th trip to the National League Championship Series since 2013 by walking off in the bottom of the 11th inning against the Philadelphia Phillies. While Dodgers fans celebrated advancing, it was Orion Kerkering and the rest of Philly left wondering what if.On this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the unfortunate error by Kerkering that led to the Dodgers eliminating the Phillies — and why he doesn't deserve all of the blame. The guys then go on to question whether the Phillies have a larger issue brewing with their roster after failing to win the World Series in recent seasons and what's next for their impending free agents. Also on this episode, Jake and Jordan discuss the Chicago Cubs taking down the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4, forcing a winner-take-all Game 5 back in Milwaukee this Saturday. The guys react to last night's Dodgers win! Kap gets very sappy about Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering blowing the game for his team with a defensive miscue in extra innings - because he's a local kid from Venice High School. Seth Joyner joined the 94 WIP Morning Show as frustrated as anyone with the Phillies as they lost Game 4 in LA. He was not a fan of Rob Thomson's decision to put Orion Kerkering in the game. He was also upset with the way the Phillies played fundamentally this playoff. He weighs in on the Eagles' embarrassing loss to the Giants- he thinks the Eagles are in trouble.
Orion Kerkering emotional after making a costly mistake owned it and shared how he was feeling after the huge loss last night. The 94 WIP Morning Show listens and reacts.
The 94 WIP Morning Show is unsure what to feel as the Phillies end their season with heartbreak as Orion Kerkering overthrows JT Relamuto at home plate and causes the Phillies to lose in the NLDS. On top of it, the Eagles and Flyers both lost as well, making this one of the worst days in Philly sports history. Who gets the blame for the Phillies' loss? It is Kerkering? Rob Thomson? The Phillies high-priced players like Bryce Harper and Trea Turner? Will Rob Thomson be fired? Eliot Shorr-Parks joins the show saying has pride in the way the Phillies played, but is worried about the Eagles' season taking a down-turn. Coach Dick Vermeil joins the show and offers insight about what it's unfortunately like to lose in big games. Seth Joyner joins the show and is frustrated by the Phillies' fundamentals, decisions that Rob Thomson made, and is also worried about the Eagles season since they can't seem to figure out the problems. Time's Yours calls lament the Phillies and Eagles' losses.
Coach Dick Vermeil joins the 94 WIP Morning Show. He has coached in many big games, and has unfortunately lost some of those- he knows what the Phillies are going through. He explains what his approach would be to caring for a player like Orion Kerkering who made a season-sending mistake. He also knows what Rob Thomson is experiencing. Coach Vermeil is not worried that the Eagles will miss the playoffs.
Eliot Shorr-Parks joins the 94 WIP Morning Show saying that he has pride in this Phillies team that just played sloppy. ESP has a growing feeling that the Eagles' season is taking a downturn. Orion Kerkering spoke post-game, clearly emotional after making a costly mistake to end the game.
The Phillies lose the NLDS to the Dodgers in the 11th inning after Orion Kerkering overthrows home plate instead of getting the out at 1st base. Who should be most to blame? Phillies bats? Rob Thomson? Orion Kerkering?
The Phillies, in the 11th inning of a tie game with 2 outs, lost on a broken bat hit back to Orion Kerkering which resulted in Kerkering's errant throw to home plate instead of getting the out at 1st base to end the inning. Kerkering overthrew JT Realmuto and the game was over. Not only did the Phillies lose, the Eagles lost to the lowly Giants and the Flyers lost their season opener in Florida. The 94 WIP Morning Show is despondent.
Who is most to blame for the Phillies loss? The 94 WIP Morning Show runs through the options- was it the high priced bats like Bryce Harper and Trea Turner? Was it Orion Kerkering and his mistake that cost the game? Should the Phillies blow the team up and start over?

Scott Franzke joins the 94 WIP Midday Show to talk about last night's heartbreaking season-ending loss to the Dodgers in the NLDS. He and the Dodgers broadcast team agree that the series was too good to end on the Orion Kerkering error. He is unaware of Rob Thompson's future, gives high praise to the pitching staff, and says the series was lost because they did not hit enough. Listen to his full call here!
Would you say that the Orion Kerkering error is similar to Ben Simmons passing up a wide open dunk? The 94 WIP Midday Show discusses how pivotal these mental mistakes are. Hunter Brody asks how we will continue to react to more Phillies playoff heartbreak. AJ Brown gives a sarcastic answer to a media question following Thursday Night's loss to the Giants.
The 94 WIP Midday Show continues to analyze the Phillies series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Joe Giglio believes that the Dodgers winning all of the close, hard fought games was an accurate summary of the two teams, and that Orion Kerkering made a "brain mistake" rather than a physical mistake. Hunter Brody says the Eagles hiring process for an offensive coordinator this past offseason was malpractice.
Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker are joined by The Athletic's Jayson Stark (3:20) to chat about whether the Philadelphia Phillies fanbase could forgive Orion Kerkering's misjudgement in Game 4 giving the L.A. Dodgers the win and ticket to the NLCS, what's next for the Phillies, if the Dodgers have returned to being the best team in the MLB, what the New York Yankees should focus on in the offseason, and potential roster changes for the Blue Jays ahead of the ALCS. Then, FOX Sports' play-by-play broadcaster Adam Amin (35:46) stops by to discuss the Seattle Mariners-Detroit Tigers series heading to 5 games, if Josh Naylor can become an x-factor in a win-or-go-home scenario, and if a Tigers series win will erase a bad end to their regular season. Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker react to the Dodgers advancing to the NLCS after Orion Kerkering's error cost the Phillies their season in extra innings. They discuss whether the Phillies make big changes in the offseason, look at the lopsided Game 4 between the Cubs and Brewers, and debate who would be a better matchup for the Jays in the ALCS - the Tigers or Mariners. Sportsnet MLB insider Shi Davidi joins the show (27:17) to make predictions for the Blue Jays' roster changes, whether Bo Bichette will be ready and whose spot he would take, why Anthony Santander is safe, where Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt fit in, and why the Mariners might be the better ALCS matchup for Toronto. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.

Tek & Prem welcome Tom Stakes onto the VetLine to talk Eagles. The Broncos come to Philly with their stout defense and young quarterback Bo Nix. The Broncos last win in Philadelphia came in 1986. At 4-0, the Birds have simply found ways to win. The offense, defense, and special teams units have contributed equally throughout their undefeated September against top-tier NFL competition. As the Super Bowl Champions head into October, the offense will continue to evolve, and the defense will see the return of Nakobe Dean to the field. The Phillies and Dodgers are set to meet in the NLDS and the first two games will take place at the raucous Citizens Bank Park. With a marquee pitching matchup of Ohtani v. Sanchez for Game One, the pressure is on this group of Phillies to phinally get it done in October after reaching the World Series in 2022, losing, and not making it back in their last two attempts. The table is set, but the bats will need to get hot if they expect to knock off the defending World Series Champion Dodgers in this best-of-five series. Segments include: VetPhact, VetLine, The Tek 10, Prem's NFL Picks. Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
Tek & Prem welcome Jon Marks on the VetLine to talk Eagles and Phillies. The Birds host the Rams this weekend at the Linc in a Divisional Round Rematch as we delve into game dynamics. With a stout defense and veteran QB bent on revenge, this matchup will be as tough a game as any on the Eagles 2025 Schedule. Jalen Hurts acknowledges the offense's struggles in the passing game in the first 2 games and we expect to see an improved product at home on Sunday. Stafford has weapons and knows how to get the ball into their hands, so the game will again fall on the back of Fangio and his defensive plan, and our playmakers. The Phillies have secured their 2nd straight NL East Title and are in the race for the NL 1 seed as they head to Arizona this weekend firmly in control of the 2 seed, after winning 2 of 3 against the Dodgers. The D'Backs are fighting for their Playoff lives, but the Phils lineup has been getting contributions from just about everyone, and they look primed for a World Series run. Segments include: VetPhact, Tek's 10, VetLine, & Prem's NFL Picks. Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)

Tek & Prem discuss the upcoming Eagles season opener against Dallas next Thursday Night, and breakdown the 53-man roster. Some late changes were pulled off by Howie and the Front Office, with former Birds returning to the nest in Epps and Covey. The QB Factory also continues to churn. With the Cowboys defense losing Micah Parsons in a trade with Green Bay, it appears more likely that the Eagles soar offensively next Thursday Night, on Super Bowl banner night. Jalen Hurts continues to be slandered by losers like Cam Newton on national television. The march to repeat as Super Bowl Champions is almost underway. The Phillies bounce back from a nitemare series sweep in NY in a big way versus the Braves, pouring on a season-high 19 runs, including 4 bombs from Schwarber as he sets a new Phillies single-game franchise record with 9 RBI. It looks more and more likely that the NL MVP Award is his to lose. The biggest question heading into the final month of baseball is whether or not the Phils can win enough to secure the 2 seed, and avoid a potential Wild Card Series against the Mets. Segments include: VetPhact, Prem's MLB Picks. Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
The Super Bowl Champions are back to work. Tek & Prem discuss Training Camp beginning and the are multiple storylines developing, including the secondary. Cooper DeJean is being placed all over the field as Fangio and his staff evaluate the right players across the defensive backfield positions and packages. Jalen Hurts and the team leaders are focused on what's ahead, not Super Bowl LIX. The season is less than 6 weeks away and preseason football is around the corner. A march to a repeat commences very soon. The MLB trade deadline approaches as the Phillies start a 3-game set in the Bronx against the AL Wild-Card leading Yankees. A Yankees team every bit as inconsistent as the Phils have been since June 1. Taking 2 of 3 on the heels of taking 2 of 3 from the Red Sox is key to maintaining their continual NL East leap-frog with the Mets. Trading for a true star closer is all that separates this team from a World Series in 2025, and possinly one more bat. The jury is out. On Episode 989 of Hittin' Season, powered by WHYY, John Stolnis of The Good Phight recaps Wednesday night's awful loss to the Red Sox and tries to get to the bottom of Jesus Luzardo's struggles. Also, Cristopher Sanchez is now a bona fide ace, John goes inside the numbers on what makes him so special. And what are the latest Trade Rumors surrounding the Phils? John breaks down all the latest. Could the Phils move Ranger Suarez or Luzardo this summer? Show Notes: Disastrous loss in the finale Phillies blow a 5-0 lead, HRs from Schwarber, Harper, Castellanos & Stott, Realmuto It's the Phils' first loss in a game they homered five or more times since June 10, 2019. They haven't won three in a row since June 18-20. Blame Realmuto & Luzardo, who had a no-hitter going into the 5th, gives us 6 in the 5th after walking in two runs then serving up a grand slam FELL APART WHILE PITCHING FROM THE STRETCH AGAIN Thomson said they have to keep digging and working on what's wrong with Luzardo, specifically in the stretch Since June 11, opponents have hit .192/.252/.253 with 37 strikeouts and eight walks when there is no one on base against Luzardo. With runners on base, those numbers jump to .339/.443/.576, 16 strikeouts and 11 walks. (Gelb) Gelb says he went back to his old mechanics last night, but it still didn't work Jesus Luzardo says he is working day and night to fix his issues and he says they need to be fixed. He says teams are hitting him hard when he is pitching out of the stretch. He says it is not on JT Realmuto losing that foul ball pop-up. He says he and other Phillies lost it as well. Manager Rob Thomson says Jesus Luzardo lost his concentration. Phillies now 3-8 in Luzardo's last 11 starts They've now given Luzardo 3-0, 4-1 and 5-0 leads in July only to have him lose all 3 of them. He posted a 2.15 ERA in his first 11 starts. He allowed 20 runs in his next two. He made significant mechanical changes when pitching from the stretch, and it's resulted in only a 4.79 ERA over his last nine starts. UNLESS LUZARDO FIGURES THIS OUT, THEIR ENTIRE OFF-SEASON WILL HAVE BEEN A COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE The good news is this is a mechanical issue… which would indicate to me it CAN be fixed… but can they fix it in time? PITCH TIPPING: The Red Sox are renowned for doing this. Two pitches later, Story doubled home a run. THIS WAS NOT A STRONG ROB THOMSON GAME Luzardo should have been pulled after the second straight bases loaded walk, but got Jordan Romano up too late… after the game, Thomson admitted that was a mistake Pinch-ran Weston Wilson for Kyle Schwarber in the 10th after Schwarber's RBI single… Wilson, who is not fast… thrown out trying to steal 2nd to end the 10th With Wilson already used, Max Kepler had to face a lefty reliever and watched a called strike three to end the game in the 11th, instead of having Wilson available to pinch hit Rob Thomson on the 5th inning tonight: Said they have to keep digging and working on what's wrong with Luzardo, specifically in the stretch Harper's home run was the 350th of his career Bryce Harper tonight became the youngest of the 8 active players to reach 350 career home runs joining Giancarlo Stanton, Mike Trout, Paul Goldschmidt, Manny Machado, Freddie Freeman, Nolan Arenado, Aaron Judge. Kyle Schwarber's 34 HR are the 3rd-most through 102 games in Phillies franchise history, behind only Ryan Howard in 2006 and Mike Schmidt in 1979 -- both had 36. Cristopher Sanchez is a TRUE ACE: https://www.thegoodphight.com/2025/7/23/24472912/cristopher-sanchez-is-a-real-bona-fide-cy-young-contender WHEELER & SANCHEZ This gives the Phillies a leg-up in the postseason No one can match what the Phillies can do in the playoffs STARK ON SCHWARBER Says he believes Schwarber will be back here 4 years, $100 million is the number… how is he going to have a better deal four years AFTER the first free agent contract??? TRADE DEADLINE LATEST: Jayson Stark on 975 the Fanatic w/ Mikey Miss: Dombrowski wants to use his biggest chips to trade for a big time power bullpen arm controllable beyond this year, Duran, Bautista, no on Miller or Clase If he gets one, it's a right-handed platoon bat that falls into his lap Bullpen arm is more important than a bat Jeff Passan: The Phillies have quietly built up one of the best farm systems in baseball, and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski's history of trading prospects for impact talent is unmatched. Still, with the Phillies entering a transition phase over the next few years, they aren't likely to sacrifice all of their depth. That complicates their tack at this deadline, because they are among the few teams with the need and capacity to acquire a pitcher of Clase's talent. Same goes for Cade Smith, another Guardian, and the Twins' two frontline relievers, Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax. Getting David Robertson for $6 million certainly helps matters and serves as insurance against objectionable demands on high-end relief pitchers. And yet adding Robertson plus a high-octane relief arm alongside Orion Kerkering and Matt Strahm gives the Phillies a representative back end. If they can also add a right-handed-hitting outfielder with power -- Adolis Garcia is in the mix, and Luis Robert Jr. would play, too -- it will be a successful deadline for a team whose starting pitching is good enough to carry it deep into October. Ruben Amaro & Jim Salisbury on Phillies Show Very interesting stuff on the show from Amaro (doesn't think they'll be able to get a lock down closer), Aiden Miller might be more untouchable than Painter, and the clubhouse talking about Eugenio Suarez (Salisbury). @JohnnyPhisher: Phillies need a RHH OF @Buster_ESPN: A surprise name has emerged in the starting pitcher market: Dylan Cease, who will be eligible for free agency at year's end. Perception of other teams is that the Padres are intent on making a push for the playoffs, and would use Cease to help fill other roster needs. Mets, AL East teams, Cubs among teams that have talked about him. COULD THE PHILLIES DO SOMETHING SIMILAR WITH RANGER SUAREZ OR JESUS LUZARDO? Jo Adell started slow, but on May 6 he hit a 9th inning HR in a blowout that got things going for him. Since then (67 gms) he has a .907 OPS (top 20 in MLB) with 19 HR (T-6th), and his .563 SLG is higher than any Phillies player. An interesting name: Dane Myers. Plays center field for the Marlins. The right-handed 29 year is wailing on lefties: .324/.385/.493, .878 OPS, 2 HRs, 13 RBIs in 78 PAs, 6 doubles. Would be a platoon guy. The Phillies and Padres are two of the many teams that have expressed interest in Steven Kwan, reports Jon Heyman of The New York Post. Both National League contenders are known to be looking for a left field upgrade.
