The boys just got back from the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, which meant there was plenty to discuss on the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast. On today's podcast, the guys recapped the Jasper tourney, Tyler's Bills sadness, Connor McDavid's return to the lineup, and much more. The podcast started with a recap of the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament from this past weekend at the Jasper Park Lodge and how it was yet another spectacular few days in the mountains. The boys couldn't help but gush about how great it was to return to the JPL, spend time with co-workers, and the games that entertained the group over those few days. If you're ever on the fence about attending the tournament, let this weekend recap be your cue to sign up a squad for next year.Changing gears, Tyler expressed his feelings about the Buffalo Bills' losing to the Kansas City Chiefs for the second consecutive year in the playoffs. From how Buffalo started poorly to how some questionable calls later in the game factored into the loss, Tyler broke down his feelings on the loss and how it's frustrating to fall to Kansas City again. Needless to say, sports are awful most of the time, and last night's loss was yet another dose of that reality for Tyler. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with some hockey talk, as the boys are still reeling from the monster Mikko Rantanen trade that happened on Friday night. Amazingly enough, Jeff Marek ended up getting Erik Tulsky — Carolina's General Manager — on The Sheet to talk about the deal and how it all came together. Finally, they wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a quick chat about Connor McDavid's return to the lineup, and how the boys feel like the captain is going to have a big night.

On a scale from one to infinity, how excited were you to see that a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast was recorded, wrapped, and ready to carry you into the weekend? Infinity excited, right? Of course. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament that's coming up in a couple of weeks at the Jasper Park Lodge and how the boys have started pulling some pranks on their out-of-town co-workers. From convincing guys they need to play with a wood stick to pre-negotiating the post-game party spot, it's clear how excited everyone is to get back to Jasper and play some hockey.Somehow, talking about playing hockey led to an extended discussion about the Olive Garden. Even though none of the guys had been to Olive Garden in forever, they still spent a lot of time talking about all the times they used to eat there. They also discussed how the restaurant removed Wanye's favourite seafood portofino dish. Nobody knows how the podcast landed on restaurant talk, but they spent more time there than expected. With the Olive Garden talk out of the way, the guys examined the weight loss of Chalmers, Baggedmilk, Jay, and Tyler and noted that they're still looking for a way to loop in charity. While Tyler and Baggedmilk have started chipping away at the challenge, Chalmers has been sick for the last week, and Jay is still in Mexico, so who knows how this challenge is going to turn out. Will they lose weight? Will Baggedmilk's hot dog challenge cause him to gain weight? Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday podcast with a story about Wanye leaving the Real Life group chat because he feels Tyler texts the group way too early. As you'll hear, the reason for having his notifications on makes sense, but in this case, he could have taken some very easy steps to mute notifications instead of having to leave the group chat.

Thursday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life Podcast is ready to wrap up your week and help you make sense of this crazy little thing called life. On this week's podcast, the guys talked about their New Year's Eve plans, getting into the World Juniors, and a whole lot more. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing New Year's Resolutions and how this point on the calendar feels like a zone where days blend together. But now that the calendar has flipped to 2025, routines are starting to feel a little more normal. Needless to say, it's always a battle to get back in the swing of things after the Christmas break.Sticking with New Year's Eve, the guys ran through their plans from the night, and what was most interesting was that no one did anything and loved it. That led Chalmers and Baggedmilk to argue about the state of country music after both guys watched the Nashville NYE special. Since Chalmers is a country purist, he didn't appreciate the face tattoos and auto-tuned singing that has invaded the genre over the last year or so.Finally, the fellas wrapped up this episode of the podcast with a collection of random topics, including the scaring of children, Jay's new hydrogen water bottle, and a bunch of other nonsense that was not included on Tyler's prep sheet. As you'll hear, Jay is very passionate about his new hydrogren bottle and tried to convince the fellas that it wasn't just wasted money. As always, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map even when they tried to stay on topic.Nation Real LIfe

It wouldn't be a Monday afternoon without a fresh episode of the Real Life podcast, would it? Of course not.The guys kicked off the first podcast episode of the week by discussing the Nation Citizen Christmas party and how the boys are excited to see everyone at Dogpatch for a night of shenanigans and a viewing party. That led to a chat about Baggedmilk and Jay's time in Toronto and how they had to jump on a plane almost immediately after getting home from the #NationVacation from Denver.Turning the show back to the Oilers, the conversation turned to whether or not it was fair that the Rogers Place faithful let the boo birds rain down on Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Unlike some folks in the media, the boys thought booing them was fair game. Even though both players weren't necessarily at fault for the offer sheet situation, everyone wondered if part of booing those two was also a reflection of what the fanbase thinks of management.Changing gears, the guys discussed the Juan Soto contract that he signed with the NY Mets and how the money in that sport is completely bananas. Despite not being in the same league as Shohei Ohtani in terms of being a hitter and pitcher, the Soto contract is almost as big as the New York Mets decided to empty the vault out for the former-Yankee. Now that Soto is a Met, it will be fantastic to see what the reception is like the first time he goes back to Yankee stadium. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the annual Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament that will be happening again in January. After the devastation of the wildfires from this past summer, knowing that the tourney is back makes everyone so very happy. If you want to sign up for the tournament, head to the CHE Hockey website and enter your team before they're full.

The boys are spending the weekend in Jasper for the annual pond hockey tournament, and that meant the perfect opportunity for an on-location episode of the Real Life Podcast. Kicking off the podcast, the guys started talking about the pond hockey tournament and how it's incredible to be here for a third straight year. As you'd expect, talking about the tournament didn't last long before the shenanigans crept in and derailed the whole thing. Despite being unable to stay on track, it's clear that the fellas were thrilled to be back at the tournament. From bringing the house down on night one to the battle against Flamesnation to kick off day two, this episode of Real Life is about as unhinged as it gets. As you'll hear, Christopher K. Chalmers was an absolute menace on today's show and that meant a very tough job for producer Pat as he tried to edit this thing to a point where it's fit for consumption. Needless to say, this was one for the ages. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ed Rodriquez and John Dieterich are the guitarists for Deerhoof. Though they branch out with other projects, they have both been dedicated to the band for over 20 years and are celebrating the bands 19th album Miracle-Level (out March 31st on Joyful Noise Recordings). As standard with Deerhoof, the new record shimmers with newness and is full of sonic and lyrical surprises, but what stands out most is that this is the first "studio record" they've recorded in their long career. In this episode John and Ed share the recording experience and the motivation behind it. We also learn how John and Ed's artistic and personal relationship formed, how music brought them together and why this bond is so important them. Another Wednesday has landed on your calendars, which means I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to help fill the rest of your week with a little dose of shenanigans. This week, I'm recapping the amazing Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament, Matt Berlin's night to remember, Oilers trade rumours, and a whole lot moreTo kick off this week's podcast, I got started with a quick look at episode 3 of the greatest TV show in the history of cameras. Of course, I'm talking about MILF Manor, the show where eight moms are looking for love in a dating pool comprised of their own sons. I also spent some time talking about the Jasper Pond Hockey Tournament that took place at the beautiful Jasper Park Lodge this past weekend, and how much fun we had with not only the other participants but also the folks from Flamesnation. Getting back to the Oilers, how could I not talk about the amazing Matt Berlin story that happened on Saturday night against the Blackhawks after the U of A netminder subbed in for Jack Campbell for the final 2:26 of that hockey game? As far as cool stories go, this one ranks right up there with one of the most fun sports moments that I've ever seen. But even though most of us loved the move by Jay Woodcroft and the Oilers, there were plenty of angry folks on hockey Twitter trying to rain on our parade. Sticking with the Oilers, I also ran through some of the latest rumblings surrounding Jesse Puljujarvi and how it truly feels like the countdown clock is on for his time with the organization. Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with another round of voicemails to get your take on what's been going on over the last week. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The boys are back from Jasper and the Oilers came up with a big win against Chicago, which meant there was a whole lot to talk about on the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast. To kick off the Monday episode of Real Life, the guys got started with a recap of their weekend in Jasper as the Pond Hockey Tournament is an event that should absolutely be on your hockey bucket list. From the moment the squad arrived until the time they checked out, the folks at the Jasper Park Lodge were incredible and made the weekend so incredibly special. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys spent the next few minutes talking about Matt Berlin's incredible story from Saturday night and how the U of A goaltender was able to live out his childhood dream. While some people thought the move was disrespectful, the guys on this podcast couldn't understand why anyone would be upset about that moment. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a passionate conversation about restaurants that have come and gone over the last handful of years. Hosted on Acast. The first-ever Berkshire Pond Hockey Classic will be held on Saturday, January 28 at Lake Buel, right near the lake's boat ramp. The 16 team field is made up of mostly local teams, including a past NCAA D1 Frozen Four Women's Team. The GB Bagel Co is sponsoring Bagels for Breakfast for all of the participants and their owner Bob is bringing 2 teams and Gary and Andrew the owners of Barrington Brewery will be hosting an awards ceremony after the tournament and coming as partners, bringing 2 teams. The presenting sponsor is The Pass as well as Berkshire Bank from their Foundation and ExtraSpecialTeas, which is an non-profit who is generously sponsoring free tea during the day of the tournament for skaters. Any of the profits made after the cost of the tournament will go back to the town of Monterey. “I'm just trying to find a way to give back to The Berkshires and honor my father,” Regen said. “How cool is that?” For more information about the tournament go to its website.
Another Thursday has landed on the calendar, which means the boys from the Real Life Podcast are back with a whole lot to talk about to wrap up the week. On today's show, the guys recapped the Evander Kane interview, the Jasper pond hockey tournament, and more.Kicking off the second episode of Real Life of the day, the guys walked through the Evander Kane interview that just happened at Nation HQ, and how it was a very fun experience given that he has such a high profile in this city. From start to finish, the guys thought Kane was incredibly personable and open with his answers even though the boys went off script more than a few times. From there, the podcast completely fell off the rails as Chalmers and Baggedmilk vented about dog parks and why you shouldn't bring your dog to them. From there, the guys looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament that's happening at the Jasper Park Lodge at the end of January, and why this is a tourney you should absolutely be a part of if you're able. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the second episode of Real Life with a mishmash of of topics ranging from skiing to travel to New Year's Resolutions and everything in between. Hosted on Acast.
