Quinn Rose is the Founder of Story Based Brands, a video production company based in Portland, Oregon, that helps businesses and organizations make a bigger impact through video. Native to Portland, Quinn moved to New York City to pursue her childhood dream of being an investigative reporter. There she co-produced a documentary on the NYPD Stop and Frisk policy, which now has over eight million views and is mentioned in a federal ruling. She also reported courtside at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Her stories and interviews aired in 256 countries, reaching a TV audience of over one billion, and her team's corporate videos continue to break records worldwide. From there, Quinn continued working in international events and writing, producing, and directing videos and teaching workshops to students and adults. Her focus is on one goal: to use her journalistic lens and passion for stories to support mission-driven companies. In this episode… The future is always uncertain. No one can predict the future or know for sure what it holds. Should that stop you from pursuing your passion? To successfully navigate the uncertainty of the future, Quinn Rose chose to trust herself. She believes in following your unique path and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Your life can take a different direction than other people's. Quinn's advice is to spend quality time alone, learn more about yourself, and live on your own terms. You should trust the process and reach for what makes you happy. In this episode of the Lead Like a Woman Show, Andrea Heuston interviews Quinn Rose, the Founder of Story Based Brands, about the value of following your own path. Quinn shares her experience as a reporter, working on a documentary about NYPD's Stop and Frisk policy, starting a video production company, and her advice for identifying your passion.

“Are you surrounded by people that you can lean into? Are you surrounded by people that remind you of what's true and real, even when you forget?”- Lola WrightWhen I first faced the challenge of having to change my language and the title of this very podcast, I felt deep resistance. But through the power of my practice, my support system, and a little bit of good legal counsel, I'm ready to let go and create something new.On this final episode of Find Your Fierce & Loving, I say goodbye to this wonderful iteration of this community, and turn towards the one that is already emerging. While the path here has not been all smooth, I have trusted it. As I reliably invite you to consider with me, something greater is happening here. And with that always guiding my way, I am so excited to share my new podcast with you in October. This very same feed will have a new name, new language, and renewed purpose. I promise, it will have the same fiery love that we've always had. “You and I are not here to suffer. We are not here to struggle. But those are always available if you want to pick them up.” - Lola WrightIt's tempting to find problems everywhere. In our personal lives, communities, and the world at large, it seems like you can't go through a day without seeing roadblocks in your way. But while it's easy to find issues, you cannot solve problems at the level of consciousness that created that problem. This week on Find Your Fierce & Loving, we're deconstructing the way that we perceive issues in our lives. It is possible to move through the present moment with curiosity and grace. “The gift of change is that it exposes everything that's going on beneath the surface.” - Lola WrightI live by a principle that I learned in volleyball: keep your knees loose and move your hips. “There will be obstacles along the way, and the question then becomes, who will you be in the midst of it?” - Lola WrightI am so excited to celebrate the beautiful new Logan Square space with my husband and our community. Not that long ago, however, it looked like this new chapter wouldn't work out after all. We almost lost the chance to buy the property when we were faced with an argumentative lawyer who seemed to be looking for a fight. This week on Find Your Fierce & Loving, I explore the ways that this world tries to teach us that a fight is necessary. Instead of joining a fight in anger, or passively rolling over, what can you do to be of service in these scenarios? How can you stay true to yourself and facilitate a better outcome for everyone? “When we're living a life that is responding to vision, when we're surrendering to the big idea of life in, as, and through us, we're not listening for what's probable, we're listening for what's possible.” - Lola WrightOnce I got on board with Nathan's vision for his business, I was eager to help and be part of making this next step in our lives a reality. Some of the challenges we've faced have been harder than I imagined. Accepting my vulnerabilities, asking for help, and releasing perfectionism has been required on this journey. In the second episode of a series called Three Things I Learned While Digging In the Dirt, I'm bringing you what I learned through the practice of surrender. “When you say yes to a vision that's moving through you, it may not always be met with a popularity contest… But if there's a vision moving through you, you have a responsibility to trust it.” - Lola WrightWhen my husband, Nathan, got a business opportunity, he had a vision for his future that I couldn't see. Gratefully, he was persistent in his belief and I chose to trust him and support his plan. It was only after I accepted his idea that I was able to see the vision that he was drawn to.In the first part of a series called Three Things I Learned While Digging In the Dirt, I'm bringing you what I learned about responding to vision. “There's an instinct right now on planet Earth for identity groups to be turning inwards, as if that inward turn will protect us from oppression. And that's the move that we as Jewish people, but also all groups as human people on this planet, need to be turning towards each other.” - Rabbi LizziWhen Rabbi Lizzi Heydemann was growing up, she identified her family as German and Polish, since her grandparents had immigrated from those areas of Europe. However, when she visited Germany, she saw the contrast between a German identity and a Jewish identity. Between those early visits and her role now as a Jewish leader she went on a journey of discovering culture, privilege, oppression, and all of the ways those intersect in her life. That journey, and the others like it that she guides her community members through, continues to this day.Listen in to this week's Find Your Fierce & Loving to hear about how identities can be both empowering and limiting. Human beings have infinite potential for collaboration and discoveries—if they properly invest in themselves and others.(03:41) - Race and identity(23:10) - Relationships(29:26) - LoveRabbi Lizzi Heydemann is the founding rabbi of Mishkan Chicago, an independent, post-denominational Jewish spiritual community in the city of Chicago. She grew up on the South Side of the city and graduated with Honors in Religious Studies and Philosophy from Stanford University, and was ordained by the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. Rabbi Lizzi currently serves as the senior Rabbi and Founder of Mishkan Chicago, where she leads services, guides the organization's vision, and hosts the podcast Contact Chai, a podcast that features weekly sermons and inspired, down-to-earth Judaism in conversation. Outside of Mishkan, she currently sits on the board of T'ruah: the Rabbinic Call for Human Rights and the first rabbi to be a part of the Chicago Commons Project, a program run by the University of Chicago School of Divinity that cultivates a cohort of the city's faith leaders. She was named one of Jewish Women International's Women to Watch in 2018 and is a frequent presenter at conferences nationally on prayer leadership and revitalizing Jewish communities. She is married to Henry Bernstein, and is the mother of two children under 4, Judah Lev and Adira Hannah.Do you want to unleash your inherent love and goodness, liberate yourself, and free humanity from the oppressive systems and structures we have created? “Any time you are creating something new, destruction is present.” - Lola WrightWhen I spoke about the heartbreak of the new at Bodhi Center sixteen months ago, I didn't know how much was about to change for all of us. But while that time feels like a lifetime ago, we had the same concerns that we have now—the role of social media in changing our world, the danger of resting in inertia, and how to consciously rise above the circumstances of our lives. The process of creating something new requires destruction, and you may naturally be tempted right now to return to your former life as quickly as possible. However, we deserve better than that, and we have the power to rise above those old ways.On this week's Find Your Fierce & Loving, we investigate our patterns that aren't serving us anymore. Listen in to learn how to handle the discomfort that comes from breaking those patterns and daring to create something new.(01:50) - Looking at the world(09:30) - When things fall apartDo you want to unleash your inherent love and goodness, liberate yourself, and free humanity from the oppressive systems and structures we have created?
