Tyrion attends a Small Council meeting chaired by his father. Much news is discussed. Afterward, Tywin announces that Cersei will marry Willas Tyrell, the heir to Highgarden, and Tyrion will marry Sansa Stark. Shae was unavailable for comment. Simon and Mackelly plan the bachelor party.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister attends the Small Council along with his father Tywin, uncle Kevan, sister Cersei, the familiar figures of Petyr Littlefinger Baelish, Lord Varys, and the reinstated Grand Maester Pycelle. In addition, Lords Tyrell, Redwyne, and Rowan take their seats. Tyrion's not sure he knows the rules of the new game, but he's sure he better learn them, fast. The news flows thick and fast:Randyll Tarly has defeated the northerners at Duskendale. Devan Lannister is rounding up the remnants of his late father Stafford's army to march on Riverrun. Balon Greyjoy offers alliance in return for recognition of him as King of the Isles and the North, Tywin's not ready to respond to that. Greyjoy is already doing everything the Lannisters would want of him - for nothing. Littlefinger is to woo and marry Lysa Arryn to bring the Vale over to King Joffrey. Tyrion takes over as Master of Coin - he senses that Baelish has left him a trap. The Reach lords divide the spoils of war. Both of these are to derail the plan to marry Sansa to Willas, which Littlefinger unearthed and reported to Tywin. Lastly news of Robb's marriage to Jeyne Westerling is revealed. Joseph and Michael talk about the fourth episode of Game of Thrones: Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things. In this episode they discuss the erasure of Tyrion's antagonism towards Theon, call out how terrible Randyll Tarly was to Sam, defend Catelyn's catastrophic decision to arrest Tyrion and maybe look at the first hint of Daenerys' madness? That and much more in this episode of Back Into Thrones. This episode does cover sensitive topics, listener discretion is advised.

Brienne returns to Maidenpool and has a few reunions with folks from the late King Renly's camp. Like many reunions, her meetings with Hyle Hunt and Randyll Tarly are unpleasant. But it's not cause for getting crabby: That happens later with the entrance of Nimble Dick Crabb. It's back to our regularly scheduled programming as we head back to both Cersei and Brienne in our first foray into the second half of AFFC. Specifically, we see Petyr Baelish destroy the Lords Declarant in a political tennis match, Cersei's well-thought out plans (HA!) are crumbling already as Tommen puffs up his chest, Brienne returns to Maidenpool before setting out again with a new squad, and Samwell Tarly swings a mean right hook over in Braavos. Today's chapters are: - Alayne I/Sansa II - Cersei V - Brienne V - Samwell III Hop aboard the Isle for chit chat on how Sansa remembers her name, Tommen's monumental decision to outlaw beets, some great but short enjoyment of the Arya-Sam pairing, and of course, pure unrestrained adoration of the Broken Man speech. All that plus curse words aimed at Randyll Tarly. A lot of them. “ I assume you’re here to bend the knee?” Daenerys asks Jon Snow expectantly. Jon Snow replies “I am not.” Season 7 conclusion begins in suspense as Jon Snow and Ser Davos arrive at Dragonstone to meet with Daenerys Targaryen. Upon their arrival, Varys and Melisandre have a conversation about each other’s future in Westeros. “Oh I will return dear spider. One last time. I have to die in this strange country just like you.” Melisandre tells Varys knowingly. Jon and Daenerys converse for the first time and Jon tells her and Tyrion about the army of the dead. They argue and trade facts about history and loyalties with neither backing down. “So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I've been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen.” Daenerys boasts to Jon. Varys interrupts this interaction with grave news about the Greyjoys and the Sand Snakes. At King’s Landing Euron Greyjoy brings Cersei the priceless gift he promised. Euron and Jaime have a less than friendly interaction while Cersei gets her revenge for Myrcella’s death. Cersei meets with Tycho Nestoris from the Iron Bank of Bravos and they discuss the Lannister. Back at Dragonstone Tyrion and Jon talk of the White Walkers with Jon asking Tyrion if he believes him. “I trust the eyes of an honest man more than I trust what everyone knows.” Tyrion says in response. Jon asks Daenerys to allow him to mine the dragonglass. While in Winterfell, Sansa is growing into her own and making executive decisions as the Lady of Winterfell. Meera brings Bran to Winterfell and Sansa and Bran see each other for the first time since Season 1. Bran tries to describe to Sansa the role of the Three-Eyed Raven in unsettling fashion. In the Citadel, Jorah Mormont has been cured of Grayscale and is ready to return to his Queen. Meanwhile, the Unsullied take Casterly Rock only to find out they were tricked. High Garden falls to Jaime and the Lannister army, Olenna drinks the poison and gives Jaime a confession. Jaime leads his army back to King’s Landing with all of High Gardens’s gold and harvest crops. Meanwhile, Cersei gets an interesting proposition from Tycho. In Winterfell, Petyr Baelish approaches Bran where he finds that even with all of his wits, he can’t fool someone who literally knows everything. Arya arrives in Winterfell for the first time since Season 1 and reunites with her sister and brother, and Bran gives Arya an important gift. Back at Dragonstone, Jon shows Daenerys the dragonglass and some interesting hieroglyphics that provide evidence to the existence of the Night King. Daenerys learns of latest failure at Casterly Rock and is ready to burn it all down. Before she makes a decision, she asks Jon his advice to which he tells her “If you use them to melt castles and burn cities, you’re not different. You’re just more of the same.” In Winterfell, Arya and Brienne have an epic spar while at Dragonstone, and Jon and Theon see each other for the first time since Jon left for the Night’s Watch. Randyll Tarly informs Jaime and Bronn that all of the gold is safely secured in King’s Landing, but that relief is short lived as Daenerys arrives to show them who the real Queen is. Upon her return to Dragonstone, an old knight pledges himself to her once more, and Tyrion devises a plan to make Cersei believe in the threat to the North. In Winterfell, Sansa is tempted by The Northern houses. Tyrion meets with Jaime to convince him to have Cersei agree to armistice, and Ser Davos collects an old friend from Flea Bottom. In the Citadel, Gilly comes across perhaps the most important discovery in Maester Maynards’ records, while Arya in Winterfell makes a shocking discovery of her own. At The Wall, the A-Team of Westeros go beyond to bring back a wight. After dangerous encounters with creatures of the dead, Jon and company catch a wight only to be surrounded by the Night King and his army. Is this the end for them? Or will someone come to save the day? If they do survive, will Cersei have a change of heart when presented the proof or was it all for naught? The Night King adds the most dangerous ally to his army, while in Winterfell, the Stark sisters rid themselves of a dangerous ally of their own. Bran and Sam together fit the final pieces together about Jon’s true lineage, while two relatives are rocking the boat. Meanwhile unbeknownst to anyone except the men holding The Wall at Eastwatch By The Sea, Winter is officially coming to Westeros. Take a dive with the Riddikulus Crew into the conclusion of Season 7 in our 3 and ½ hour special as things begin to come full circle, while other questions are raised. Where does Jon Snow go from here? In the words of Bran Stark “He’s never been a bastard, he’s the heir to the Iron Throne.”

Welcome to another fun and exciting episode of Winter is Coming's Game of Thrones podcast -- Take the Black. This week, our larger than usual panel discusses all the ins and outs, highs and lows of episode 705, "Eastwatch."Some topics:Dan believes the opener was a wasted opportunity for a good cliffhanger.Thone and Sarah heatedly debate Dany's decision to burn Dickon and Randyll Tarly. I really loved the Jon and Drogon scene. While Ser Friendzone is back, Isis knows he's no competition for Jon Snow.Corey Smith doesn't remember seeing an animal's eyes warg white on the show before, and he thinks that's a neat touch. We all agree the Maesters are just the worst. The subtle reveal that Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark were married thus legitimized Jon was done quite cleverly. We marvel at Jon's reaction to the news of Arya and Bran's homecoming.Gendry is back and Isis and Sarah can't get enough. We felt the ending was cheesy, and overall, the episode was rushed more than usual. As usual, Take the Black leans heavily on the NSFW side (beware of F-bombs). You’ve been warned.

Guess who's back? Back again? Game of Thrones. Still no book. But never fear, Shark Liver Oil is back for season 7 of the TV series. It's time to talk the second episode of season 7, so Andrew and Manu discuss Euron's manic sea battle (specifically Theon's trauma and Yara's reaction), Dany and Tyrion's decision-making regarding invasion strategy, Jaime's efforts to convince Randyll Tarly to join Cersei's side, Arya's interactions with Hot Pie and Nymeria, Sam's attempts to cure Jorah, political infighting in the North, and Melisandre's surprising meet-up with Dany and company. Show Rundown: In this week’s episode, we review Christopher Nolan’s new movie, “Dunkirk.” In our second segment Peter Brown from Assignment X and our other podcast Dorking Out About Trailers joins us to talk about - duh - trailers; the trailers from Comic Con - to be more specific. Peter sticks around for our final segment, in which we talk about Sunday night’s episode of Game Of Thrones. Topic 1: Dunkirk Review and Thoughts on Christopher Nolan In recent years movies have been discussed in terms of extended universes, reboots and intellectual property which launched a thousand movie tickets. From Hunger Games to Marvel, from Ghostbusters to the upcoming Dark Tower, it seems studios have left the era of director driven films and only think in terms of IP. One of the very few directors who still stands out as a brand unto himself, as the Spielbergs and Tarantinos did in decades past, is Christopher Nolan. While he did do his time in the comic book mines, by making three of the greatest comic book movies ever made in the Dark Knight trilogy, he’s now thought of as an artistic voice in his own right. From Inception to Interstellar, from The Prestige to this week’s Dunkirk, it seems he’s one of the vanishingly few directors whose name alone can almost guarantee a big opening weekend. So his latest is Dunkirk, a World War II story about the evacuation of the British and French armies at Dunkirk in one of the darkest moments of the war. Topic 2: The Trailers Of Comic-Con If you’re a dork, geek, nerd or spaz, then you know that Comic Con happened last week in San Diego. I’m joking, because, of course, gone are the days when Comic Con was just just for dorks. Every TV show, every movie participates in Comic Con now. It’s the center of everything pop culture, including “Sharknado 5” directed by friend of the podcast Anthony C. Ferrante (shameless plug). Last week, a million trailers came out, and we want to talk about them, so Peter Brown from Assignment X and our other special podcast Dorking Out About Trailers, is joining us to talk about all the buzzy new trailers and whatever news that captured our interest. Daenerys sends the dornishmen along the Greyjoy fleet to Sunspear, the Unsullied to Casterly Rock and decides to not move on to King's Landing yet, intending to install a siege instead. Grey Worm and Missandei declare their love for one another, which they consummate before Grey Worm leaves with the Unsullied. There, Cersei has gathered many lords and insisted on fear for the Dragon Queen and why they should support the Lannister crown instead, promising Randyll Tarly the title of Warden of the South. In the Riverlands, Arya meets with Hot Pie, who tells her of Jon being named King in the North. She decides to return to Winterfell, and in the way she is briefly reunited with her long lost direwolf pet: Nymeria. At Winterfell, Jon Snow leaves for Dragonstone in hopes of getting support of Daenerys Targaryen against the threat of the White Walkers, leaving Sansa in charge. At the Citadel, Sam begins a forbidden treatment for Jorah Mormont's greyscale. Euron Greyjoy's Iron Fleet attacks Yara Greyjoy's, and in the battle, Obara and Nymeria Sand are killed, while Ellaria, Tyene and Yara are captured. Theon Greyjoy flees the carnage in horror. Join Jeremy Baker and Meredith from CFOX as they discuss episode 2 of Game of Thrones Season 7. Daenerys sends the Dornishmen with Yara's fleet to Sunspear and the Unsullied to Casterly Rock, deciding to place King's Landing under siege. She questions Varys' loyalty and threatens to burn him alive if he ever betrays her. Melisandre arrives and encourages her to invite Jon Snow to Dragonstone. Grey Worm and Missandei consummate their relationship. Cersei gathers several lords, asking for their fealties and elevating Randyll Tarly as Warden of the South. Qyburn shows Cersei a prototype ballista capable of harming dragons. Arya meets with Hot Pie and learns of Jon's ascension to King in the North, halting plans to travel to King's Landing and instead setting course for Winterfell. After receiving Samwell's letter, Jon leaves for Dragonstone in hopes of convincing Daenerys to support the fight against the White Walkers. He leaves Sansa in charge and aggressively warns Littlefinger to keep his distance. Samwell applies a forbidden treatment on Jorah's greyscale infection. Euron's fleet attacks Yara's. Obara and Nymeria are killed, while Ellaria, Tyene, and Yara are captured. Theon shows flashes of his time as Reek, hesitating to challenge Euron before fleeing the carnage by jumping into the sea.
Season 7 rolls on as we tackle episode 2, "Stormborn." Tyrion tells Dany she's named that because of rain one time. Anyway, Hot Pie goes on Ellen The Generous and Randyll Tarly is sweating racist Frank Underwood. Thanks for listening! TOPIC: Disruptions in Service This week, Dan and Merlin talk about that ineffable but growing feeling of disconnection from the collections we used to treasure. Music, Photos, Movies, Books—all the stuff we increasingly entrust to The Cloud. Seems like there's a weird confluence of changing culture and buggy technology that makes us feel sadly meh about making everything work. And that feels weird. Also? Don't be Randyll Tarly. That guy's a total choad.

Alex and special guest host, Ian Lockhart, chat about the fabulous casting of James Faulkner (remember Uncle Geoffrey from "Bridget Jones' Diary"? ONE AND THE SAME.) as Randyll Tarly, some (possibly depressing) Margery spoilers and reminisce about days of Drogo past in preparation for rewatching episode 6 of season 1, "A Golden Crown."
