Gasp It's an Elbow!  Welcome to this weekend's episode in which Sam and Morgan discuss the novel Never Fall For Your Fiancee! In this episode, we talk about missing shoes and the fact that Morgan can't go into a bookstore without buying new books! About The Novel: The last thing Hugh Standish, Earl of Fareham, ever wants is a wife. Unfortunately for him, his mother is determined to find him one, even from across the other side of the ocean. So, Hugh invents a fake fiancée to keep his mother's matchmaking ways at bay. But when Hugh learns his interfering mother is on a ship bound for England, he realizes his complicated, convoluted but convenient ruse is about to implode. Until he collides with a beautiful woman, who might just be the miracle he needs. Minerva Merriwell has had to struggle to support herself and her two younger sisters ever since their feckless father abandoned them. Work as a woodcut engraver is few and far between, and the Merriwell sisters are nearly penniless. So, when Hugh asks Minerva to pose as his fiancée while his mother is visiting, she knows that while the scheme sounds ludicrous, the offer is too good to pass up. Once Minerva and her sisters arrive at Hugh's estate, of course, nothing goes according to his meticulous plan. As hilarity and miscommunication ensue, while everyone tries to keep their tangled stories straight, Hugh and Minerva's fake engagement starts to turn into a real romance. But can they trust each other, when their relationship started with a lie?   Wanna check us out! Follow our other socials Here!

Together, we delve into key scenes that reveal Elinor's emotional burdens and how she often adopts a more masculine energy by becoming the mediator and strength for everyone else in the book.We compare Elinor's stoicism with Marianne's emotional expressiveness, discussing how others' expectations shape their experiences. We examine Elinor's relationships with Lucy, Willoughby, and Edward, and discuss the impact of "eldest daughter syndrome" on her. Through this exploration, we appreciate Elinor's strength and growth, highlighting the enduring themes of emotional acknowledgement and personal development in Austen's work. We discover that Elinor is the true heroine of this novel, but we also consider the sacrifices she makes to claim that spot in a fictional world dictated by Sensibility. Where can you find Olivia? Do you Bridgerbuddies have some extra traveling this Thanksgiving season? Some extra time in the car, on a plane, or just drowning out your relatives? Well, we've got a sort of on theme bonus podcast for you, bringing it over from the Patreon to the main feed. (Plot summary starts at 9:04 time stamp) We hop back into the Regency Era for the 2005 Jane Austen adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” starring Keira Knightley. Elizabeth Bennett has to solve a few mysteries before she catches feelings for Mr. Darcy, but our “plain” heroine does just that, while also trying to play wingwoman for her sister Jane. We've got a potato-eating pervert, Mr. Bing Bong, drunk children, a dink with a ponytail, and a nice dad along for this classic ride, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. This podcast happened via a request from SEVERAL patron pals, and if you haven't yet, join the fun over there at patreon.com/kevinandjon! The video version of the podcast can be found over there. And as always…rate and review us, you dukes and debutantes.

I so enjoyed this conversation with Julie Klassen. She loves all things Jane—Jane Eyre and Jane Austen. Her books have sold over a million copies, and she is a three-time recipient of the Christy Award for Historical Romance. The Secret of Pembrooke Park was honored with the Minnesota Book Award for Genre Fiction. Julie has also won the Midwest Book Award and Christian Retailing's Best Award and has been a finalist in the RITA and Carol Awards. A graduate of the University of Illinois, Julie worked in publishing for sixteen years and now writes full-time. She and her husband live in St. Paul, Minnesota. Julie and I talked about her research process, her fascination with England, and her newest novel, The Sisters of Sea View. Julie also asked me about my own writing, so that was a fun twist to this episode! Here's a description of The Sisters of Sea View from Bethany House Publishers: When their father's death leaves the Summers sisters impoverished, Sarah Summers hatches a plan to open their seaside home to guests to provide for their ailing mother. Younger sisters Emily and Georgiana are on board, but Viola, physically and emotionally scarred, is distressed at the idea. Left with no other choice, the four sisters begin their new venture with the help of family and friends. But instead of hosting elderly invalids in need of fresh sea air, the sisters find themselves in the company of eligible gentlemen and a mysterious Scottish widower. Some guests have come for a holiday, others for hidden reasons of their own. As Sarah is torn between a growing attraction to the mysterious stranger staying at Sea View and duty to her family, their new situation also threatens to expose Viola's scars—both the visible and those hidden deep within. The Sisters of Sea View is a story full of faith, intrigue, and the unbreakable bonds between sisters. Readers will be eager to escape into this new series set on the charming Devonshire coastline.
