Our guest today is the choreographer Sonia Sabri – dance changed her life, and now she uses it to change others. Sonia grew up in Wolverhampton, UK, in a traditional Indian family. Unusually her parents supported her dancing: her dad hoped she might conquer Bollywood, but instead, she devoted herself to kathak, which helped her withstand disapproval and bullying. Alongside her international career, her teaching reinforces the power of sharing dance – building not just steps, but self-belief. Our conversation touches on mental health and domestic abuse – Sonia has helped students change their lives in ways she would never have predicted. Sonia Sabri MBE is a multi-award-winning dance artist, choreographer and movement director and Artistic Director of Sonia Sabri Company (SSC). One of the world's leading Kathak dance artists, her work explores both the classical roots of Kathak and contemporary approaches, reflecting Western and Eastern cultures. In 2022, she was associate choreographer for Wondrous Stories, launching Birmingham Festival Commonwealth Games, and for the Opening Ceremony. SSC is an Associate Artist at Birmingham Hippodrome and Sonia is Creative Resident at Curve.

On Thursday morning, a judge denied a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by the city of Minneapolis against a landlord who allowed dozens of people to camp on a parking lot he owns. The city sued Hamoudi Sabri in September to force him to close the encampment. A few days later, the city cleared the encampment after a shooting there killed one person and injured six others. Sabri's lawyers argued the city could not move forward with the lawsuit without including the people who had been living in the encampment in the case. MPR News reporter Cari Spencer was at the courthouse during the hearing and joined MPR News host Nina Moini to explain.

Minneapolis city attorneys will be in court Wednesday afternoon in an attempt to stop property owner Hamoudi Sabri from allowing a homeless encampment on parking lots he owns. Earlier this week, a shooting at the encampment on Sabri's property in South Minneapolis left seven people hurt, including three who were critically injured. To learn more about the city's response to homelessness, MPR News host Nina Moini talks with Enrique Velázquez, director of regulatory services in Minneapolis.

HAPPY THURSDAY COUSINS!!!!!!!I think we've outdone ourselves with a 2 HOUR LONG EPISODE!! This week, we got a very special guest - Sara's brother Sabri! We've referenced him A LOT in past episodes and he was actually one of our very first guests in the earlier episodes (pre-video days lol). We had to bring him on for his very own episode and we shared all the funny childhood stories, some life and career advice and our usual banter. We feel like there was still so much to be covered so if you want us to run it back and bring him on for a future episode to cover more life/career advice or any other topic, let us know...he might be asking us for some form of payment though

Caroline and Sabri Farouki, partners behind New Orleans-based studio Farouki Farouki, bring a personal and global perspective to their practice. Caroline grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana in a home designed by Louisiana architect A. Hays Town, known for pioneering reusing materials. Surrounded by antiques and architectural details, her passion for design started early. She studied architecture in college, but shifted to environmental studies with a minor in architecture before earning her master's in fine arts in interior design from the Savannah College of Art and Design.Sabri, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, spent his formative years in Egypt, attending an American international school in Cairo. His exposure to varied cultural environments shaped his worldview of what design could be. After completing his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where he met Caroline, he went on to earn his master's of architecture from Columbia University in New York. The pair launched Farouki Farouki in 2015 after working at acclaimed firms like AvroKO, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Bjarke Ingels Group. Today, their firm balances architecture and interiors across a range of hospitality projects, including the recently opened Hotel Henrietta in New Orleans and the Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman.Thank you for listening! Is it time for interventional radiology to sever ties with diagnostic radiology and define its own future? Dr. Ally Baheti hosts Dr. Mark Lessne, interventional radiologist at Charlotte Radiology and Dr. Saher Sabri, Chief of Interventional Radiology at MedStar Health, to discuss the evolving relationship between interventional radiology (IR) and diagnostic radiology (DR). --- SYNPOSISThe doctors begin the discussion by asking a critical question: 'What defines an interventional radiologist?' They delve into the different practice patterns of IRs, exploring both the opportunities and challenges in interventional radiology forging its own path, independent of diagnostic radiology. The doctors share their thoughts on the financial implications, sustainability of the specialty, and the importance of establishing a clinical and longitudinal practice. The discussion concludes with the notion that an organic separation is likely inevitable, although the timing remains uncertain. --- TIMESTAMPS 00:00 - Introduction03:45 - Challenges in IR Practice12:23 - Financial Models and Sustainability16:13 - The Role of SIR in Supporting IRs34:29 - Defining IR Standards35:28 - SIR's Role38:29 - Future of IR and DR58:36 - Final Thoughts and Call to Action
