Edwin Rist was a prodigal flautist and a legend within the fly-tying community. After moving to London to focus on his musical career, Rist took his obsession with exotic feathers and rare birds to a new level. In 2009, Rist broke into the British Natural History Museum at Tring, stealing over 200 exotic bird skins. Yet despite being only an amateur burglar, Rist was able to evade capture for over a year.   Author Kirk Johnson heard about the bizarre heist from within the fly fishing community, and took it upon himself to uncover the full story, detailing its significance in his book, The Feather Thief. Petja Kopperoinen on tutustunut tanskalaiseen tutkimukseen, jonka mukaan maalla ihmiset ovat onnellisempia kuin kaupungeissa. Suomessa on tehty muutama vuosi sitten vastaavanlainen tutkimus, joka päätyi myös samaan lopputulokseen. Tätä on yritetty selittää sillä, että kaupungeissa on vähemmän luontoa ja vähemmän sosiaalisia suhteita. Mitä mieltä olette, missä ne syyt piilevät? Miksi maalla ollaan onnellisempia, vai ollaanko oikeasti? Kaarina Hazard on bongannut Ylen verkkoartikkelin psykologi Juni Sinkkosesta. Sinkkonen on väitöskirjatutkija Itä-Suomen yliopistossa ja hän on perehtynyt ympäristötunteisiin, eritoten metsäsuruun. Juni Sinkkosen mielestä luontoon, säähän ja ympäristöön liittyvät tunteet vaikuttavat hyvinvointiin enemmän kuin myönnetään. Kaarina aprikoi, että varmasti näin on, se tiedetään jo tutkimuksistakin. - Jos metsässä painaa naaman sammaleeseen, se tekee tosi hyvää. Ja parikymmenen minuutin metsässä oleilu saa elimistön arvotkin paremmiksi, luontokokemus tekee siis keholle hyvää. Tunteet puolestaan liittyvät ilmastokatastrofeihin ja tämän tyyppisiin asioihin. Kun näemme televisiossa isoja maastopaloja tai tulvia, ne aiheuttavat meissä ahdistusta ja pelkoakin. Pystymmekö erottelemaan koettuja ympäristötunteita, lohtuvoimaa ja toisaalta yhteiskunnallisia ympäristötunteita? Mitä raatilaiset ajattelette aiheesta? Tunnetteko te ympäristösurua? Pekka Seppänen on perehtynyt "temutukseen", joka tarkoittaa sitä että suomalaiset ostavat postitse verkon kautta halpoja kiinalaisia tavaroita, joita voi ostaa tullivapaasti, jos summa on alle 150 euroa. Tämä ostotoiminta, esim. Temusta ja Sheinistä on lisääntynyt niin räjähdysmäisesti, että siitä on Suomessa syntynyt aikamoinen julkinen keskustelu. Halvan kiinalaistavaran tilaajat halutaan lailla kuriin, kansalaisaloitekin on tehty. Mistä on kysymys? Haitallisen turhuuden kitkemisestä vai onko tässä pohjimmiltaan kyse köyhien moraalin vartioimisesta ja köyhiä polkevasta vallankäytöstä? Vai onko kyse Kiinaa tai kiinalaisia kohtaan tunnetusta pelosta, sinofobiasta? Vai kenties jostakin ihan muusta?

Kaarina Hazard on lukenut Ilta-Sanomista Taloustutkimuksen tekemän kyselyn tulokset suomalaisten huolenaiheista, jotka ovat sitten edellisen kyselyn (2,5 vuotta aiemmin) muuttuneet merkittävästi. Valtavasti on noussut kansalaisten huoli eriarvoistumisen ja tuloerojen kasvun suhteen. Kaarinan mielestä suomalaiset seuraavat sisäpolitiikkaa hyvin ja tarkasti. Hänestä kyselyn tulokset myös heijastelevat aika lailla hallituksen tekemiä päätöksiä, niiden seurauksia ja niistä syntyvää huolta.
