In 2016 DC comics announced, and started releasing a pop imprint curated by Gerard Way. This imprint would go on to have a massive impact on many lives, ours included. Odd Man Out wouldn't exist without Young Animal, so it's only right that for the one year anniversary of OMO, we also celebrate the 8 year anniversary of YA.
For the first part of my Tbubz special, celebrating the internationally renowned Thought Bubble comics festival in Harrogate, I talk to Cecil Castellucci, the writer behind Shade The Changing Girl, Female Furies, Soupy Leaves Home, and now the ecological futurist sci-fi OGN, Shifting Earth. Cecil and I tackle activism, comics, and no smaller subject than the future of mankind in this terrific interview! Don't forget to check out my Patreon for more bonus content and like, share, and subscribe to keep on helping us spread the word about great comics!
Episode 6 of the AdvoCATES Book Club is HERE! As always, this is the show where famed comics creators and married couple Donny Cates and Megan Hutchison sit down with two comics and do a deep-dive discussion on them (along with their faithful producers, the Supple Boiz)! This week, the book club gets celestial. Donny takes a look at The Wicked + The Divine, a book about gods reincarnating as pop idols and having really great outfits! Megan dives deep into Shade, The Changing Girl, a series about madness and being a teenager (madness)! Have a listen! This week we discuss: The Wicked + The Divine (Vol. 1) and Shade, The Changing Girl (Vol. 1) This and all other shows from the Amazing Friends Podcast Network (as well as MERCH and MORE!) are available at: SheridanandSmith.com Join the AdvoCATES on Facebook: facebook.com/devilsadvocatescult/ Email Us: advocatesbookclub@gmail.com Follow us on Twitter: Donny - @doncates Megan - @blackem_art Ethan - @talestoastonish Griffin - @Grifsheridan

This week we're talking about our YouTube channel, The Boys, Shade The Changing Girl, and The Apple. Show music by Reed Love and OGRE. Support the show!
Gen and Jette talk about Shade, The Changing Girl - a collection of comics on DC's Young Animal imprint - about an alien that embodies a teenage girl and all the baggage that they both carry. Show Notes: My Chemical Romance will always be amazing. Jette's funeral will be a recreation of the "My Helena" video. The Umbrella Academy is LIFE - Klaus forever! Doom Patrol is another comic on YA that has been made into a tv show. Cecil Castellucci was in Bite and Nerdy Girl before going solo. Other stories by Cecil are "Boy Proof" and "We Have Always Lived on Mars" - soon to be a movie directed by John Krasinski. Marley Zarcone is the artist behind these comics. Gen and Jette may go on a tangent raging about the "live-action" remakes of the Disney animated films of their childhood. Their opinion is real. Saga is a comic by Fiona Staples and Brian K. Vaughn on Image Comics. Yes - Gen mentions Supernatural and Harry Potter again for anyone who's counting. Shade, the Changing Girl stems from Shade, the Changing Man and also continues in Shade, the Changing Woman.

MY NAME IS IVOR, I’M AN ENGINE DRIVER Comics? Comics? We don’t need those stinking comics! They’re back, and they just can’t stop telling people that they’re in LOVE! It’s Gary Lactus and The Beast Must Die return from the bearhunt, ripped, randy and raring to podcast. Are you ready for SILENCE!?? Look, I’m not going to waste your time – this is easily the most discursive, digressive, rambly episode in a long while as the boys seem determined to avoid talking about comics. Along the way though they manage to incorporate Lars Von Trier’s Top Cat, The Five Obstructions, Dancer In The Dark, SILENCE to Astonish LIVE at Thought Bubble 2017, David Lynch: The Art Life, Daredevil season 2 (audio version), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (audio), Universal Soldier: Resurrection, Gun Mobiles, Supersonic, Michael Fleischer’s Steve Ditko’s Oasis Comic, SDCC News, Arkham Asylum 2, Dave McKean, Photocopied clocks, Squirrel Girl, Dr Strange, ESCAPE issue 10, the birth of maturity, Stray Bullets, Bernie Mireault’s The Jam, American Splendor, Shade The Changing Girl, Mystery In Space, Captain Victory, Silver Star and a whole rambalicious slew more. Dive in why don’t you, and grab yourself some treasure… @silencepod @frasergeesin @thebeastmustdie @bobsymindless @kellykanayama silencepodcast@gmail.com You can support us using Patreon if you like.
