Set in the 1990s, it follows an FBI agent tasked with tracking down an occultist serial killer responsible for murdering multiple families throughout the state of Oregon, without having been physically present in the crimes. Cage also served as a producer on the film through his Saturn Films production company. Longlegs was released in the United States by Neon on July 12, 2024. It received critical acclaim and grossed $108.9 million worldwide, becoming Neon's highest-grossing film to date domestically, as well as the highest-grossing independent film of the year.[5] In 1974 Oregon, a young girl with a Polaroid camera follows a mysterious voice and encounters an erratic man in pale makeup. In the 1990s, FBI agent Lee Harker, who exhibits possible clairvoyance, is assigned by her supervisor William Carter to a case involving a series of murder–suicides in Oregon. Each case involves a father killing his family and himself, leaving behind a letter with Satanic coding signed "Longlegs", whose handwriting belongs to none of the family members. Lee discovers that each family had a nine-year-old daughter born on the 14th of the month, the murders all occurred within six days before or after the birthday itself, and the murders form an occult triangle symbol on a calendar, with one date missing. While talking to her mother Ruth, Lee receives a coded birthday card from Longlegs, warning her that revealing the source of the code will lead to her mother's murder. Oddity is a 2024 Irish horror film[4] written and directed by Damian McCarthy. It follows a blind medium and curio shopkeeper who is still grieving the death of her twin sister a year prior when a wooden mannequin from her collection becomes crucial to her quest to uncover the truth about her sister's murder. The film premiered at South by Southwest on 8 March 2024, where it won the Audience Award in the Midnighter section of the festival. It was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 30 August 2024. Alone one night, Dani Odello-Timmis, the wife of psychiatrist Ted Timmis, is brutally murdered while renovating the couple's newly acquired country house. Olin Boole, one of Ted's former patients, visited Dani that evening, warning her that a stranger had infiltrated the home. Olin is ultimately convicted of the crime, and is later found murdered in his room in the psychiatric hospital. One year later, Dani's twin sister Darcy Odello, a blind clairvoyant with psychometric powers, is visited by Ted at her Cabinet of Curiosities shop in Cork, and the two make plans to visit again. Several days later, Darcy arrives unexpectedly at the country house where Ted now resides with his new girlfriend Yana, a pharmaceutical representative. Preceding Darcy's arrival is the shipment of a large crate containing a strange life-sized wooden mannequin. Plot[edit]

Here's the run down – MultiVersus: Collision Detected #2 – 8/10 – This is too entertaining and funny. It shouldn't be this good for what it is. But I can tell you that I've played the game and this comic book is waaay better than the game. DC's I Know What You Did Last Crisis #1 –7.5/10 - This was okay. Some were better than others. Some art was amazing, some just good. Altogether, better than I was hoping for. The Dr Light Story and Midnighter were both really good. DC Horror Presents: Creature Commandos #1 – 8/10 – A kick the door in style of introduction to the Creature Commandos and it has me curious what the rest will look like. Good stuff so far for an intro issue. Plastic Man No More! #2 – 9/10 - This story is something else man. The art aims to be of the lighthearted variety, not super modern. Mopre classic, more cartoony. But I have a feeling that if it didn't have that, it might be hard for some people to get through. This is an intense book. So far, by far, the best Plastic Man story ever told. This is heartbreaking. The Nice House by the Sea #3 – 8.5/10 – Man… oh man. Al l can tell you is how good this is because if you aren't reading it you wouldn't understand but seriously, if you like horror and myustery… grab up the first series, nice house by the lake, and then move on to this one, nice house by trhe sea. Every issue leaves you hungry for more. Every single one. My Adventures with Superman #5 – 8/10 – I can't believe how good a cartoon tie-in book can be on the regular. The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #10 – 4/5 graded by Dash. He liked that it was spooky Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? #130 – 3/5 graded by Dash. Is E3 dead again? seems like it. PSVR2 dead on arrival? Halo Infinite dead? why is everything dying in the video game industry??? Netflix dominated 2022, and is looking to lose it all in 2023 with their password crackdown. It also looks like 2023 is the year of the revival with both King of the Hill and Fraiser coming back. Then in the biggest news of the week James Gunn and Peter Safran finally lay out their grand design for DC and somehow it includes Booster Gold.
The Authority is a high-concept superhero team from the independent superhero setting of Wildstorm comics, which was initially published by Image Comics and later became part of the DC Comics universe. The team was created by writer Warren Ellis as a boundary-pushing reflection and celebration of the Justice League and the Avengers. The Authority's members, including Jenny Sparks, Jack Hawksmoor, the Doctor, the Engineer, Swift, Midnighter, and Apollo, were designed as more realistic superheroes and had a fighting optimism about the world. The series became a trendsetter for superhero storytelling in the new millennium and was followed by the loud, brash, and controversial style of writer Mark Millar and artist Frank Quitely. The Authority was integrated into the DC Comics universe after the Wildstorm universe was bought by DC. In 2021, a miniseries titled “Superman and the Authority” was released, imagining a near-future in which Superman leads the Authority. The Creature Commandos animated TV series will be written by James Gunn and will feature military superhumans including a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and a gorgon. The show will also include the character Weasel from Gunn's Suicide Squad. The animation will lead into live-action and back into animation, allowing for “gigantic and huge” stories without a large budget. The Creature Commandos were introduced in 1980 and are created by J. M. DeMatteis and Pat Broderick. -------------------- *Check Out All Our Podcasts!* Geek Freaks Podcast: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaks Pushing Buttons: https://linktr.ee/PushingButtonsPodcast TrekFreaks: https://linktr.ee/TrekFreaks Headlines: https://tinyurl.com/2p8bvu6d Geek Freaks Interviews: https://linktr.ee/GeekFreaksInterviews Outlast Podcast: https://linktr.ee/OutlastPodcast Round Three: https://linktr.ee/RoundThree Disney Moms Gone Wrong: https://linktr.ee/disneymomsgonewrong Sloop: https://www.patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast -------------------- *Hang Out With Us!* Discord: https://discord.gg/6Jrvyb2 Twitter: twitter.com/geekfreakspod Facebook: facebook.com/groups/227307812330853/ Instagram: instagram.com/geekfreakspodcast E-mail: thegeekfreakspodcast@gmail.com Twitch: twitch.tv/geekfreakspodcast Site: thegeekfreakspodcast.com --------------------- *Support Us!* Patreon: https://patreon.com/GeekFreakspodcast Store: redbubble.com/people/GeekFreaks

Holy Tom King, Bat-Fanatic. As often as we worship at the altar of Tom King, this particular series has been largely overlooked by Joe & Kendall (mostly Kendall). Joe read the first volume a few years ago, but Kendall had never read any of it! As the title implies, Dick Grayson leaves the life of vigilantism behind to take a role as a (sexy) spy for Spyral. This series is co-written by King & Tim Seeley with art by Mikal Janin. Needless to say, this Dick looks great! Can Dick keep his ethos intact in the life of espionage? Can Helena Bertinelli REALLY be a compelling love interest when Babs is still on the table? Is the Midnighter actually cool? These are some of the topics we delve into as we cover the first part of Grayson! Prep your ID concealing hypnos, track down the latest super-power granting organ, and settle in to learn the secrets of supers across the globe! Plot Pandemonium: Grayson vol. 1 #1-6 + Annual 1
Eisner and GLAAD Media Award nominated writer Steve Olrando known for his iconic "Midnighter" run and his recent Image comics hit "Commanders in Crisis" joins Nick and Anas to talk all about his Marauders takeover, his work on Marvel's Darkhold with Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom and all his upcoming projects over at Marvel and teases some INTERESTING stuff yet to come! (wink wink)

In this week's episode, Lulu and Pie take a dive into two mythology-infused superhero comics: Angela: Queen of Hel by Marguerite Bennett and Midnighter and Apollo by Steve Orlando. Topics include the way these two comics retell the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, LGBTQ+ representation, demons made of ramen, and monopoly-playing supervillains. Content warnings: discussions of death, slavery, homophobia, and human experimentation You can learn more about Never the Twins Shall Meet at our website.
Yes, the rumors are true--this is it, the end of all comics. The very concept of combining pictures with words was destroyed when these powerhouse pages clashed in a winner-take-all tournament to determine the best comic we read this season. Brother fighting brother, puns against puns, and random criteria for success combine to make this the single most exciting single-elimination tournament of comics in the known world. Witness the end of an era and see who comes out on top!Veronica's theme for this season was GREEN. Monte's theme was LGBT Power Couples. The comics we read were:JLA: Trial By Fire (vol. 1, #84-89) (featuring Martian Manhunter)X-Factor: Lost Souls (vol. 3, #207-212) (featuring Rictor and Shatterstar)Swamp Thing: The Anatomy Lesson and others (vol. 2, #20-24)Midnighter and ApolloPoison Ivy: Cycle of Life and DeathRunaways: Live Fast (vol. 2, #19-24) (featuring Karolina Dean and Xavin)The Incredible Hulk: Always On My Mind (vol. 2, #24-25) (Joined by Michael from Superhero Politics!)and Harley Quinn & Poison IvyNext week we will be back with the preview of Season 7, where we discuss our themes and comic choices for the upcoming season. We will also announce the topic of our inter-season bonus episode, which will air the next week. The week after that begins Season 7.Email us at sjwcomicspodcast@gmail.com, or check out our social media at:https://twitter.com/sjwcomicscasthttps://www.instagram.com/sjwcomicscast/
One of the big features released in the SXSW film festival Midnighter selections was Travis Steven's sophomore feature effort, Jakob's Wife, starring Barbara Crampton and Larry Fessenden. It was a wonderful character study of a middle-aged woman finding the most unusual (and bloody) way to break out of a mid-life crisis. The Scariest Things got a chance to break down this remarkable film with Travis.
