Your inner child longs to come alive in your creative spirit. Yet we live in a world that overemphasizes the power of form and technique over living in the play, or creating just for the sake of the person you become along the way. In this episode, Sheryl Benjy shares how her art is more than just the tangible piece she creates, but more of a moving meditation and a process that invites play through creativity and emoting the experience. In the emoting, Sheryl helps people heal through trauma and challenging life experiences in both the creative process + by immersing in the piece as a divine reminder that the spirit always remains. I personally connected with Sheryl through a painting of one of the hostages following the events on October 7th and was so deeply moved by how she uses her art to express what cannot be put into words, and evokes this same feeling in both the families of the victims and the entire community at large who feels so helpless in such a tragic time. She also speaks so beautifully to the dynamic of being both Iranian and Jewish, and how this interplay of ancestral experiences continues to influence her artistry in a way that moves others to become more resilient and feel peace amidst the chaos. This is my art, thank you for supporting by being a listener.

At a recent party a close friend of mine asked me if I had gotten hot flashes yet. My response was: "I don't know, what does that feel like? How would I know." She laughed and then responded - "OHHHHH honey, you would KNOW!" This sparked my interest in menopause and perimenopause. I basically knew liternally nothing. This was not something my mom EVER mentioned and my friends haven't really talked much about it either. So this episode was truly inspired by me wanting to know what to expect.  What happens to our bodies? When does it start? What can we do to make it easier/better/less....hard? In this episode I interview Integrative Health Practitioner Sheryl Carroll who is younger than me (by a FEW years!) and has become an expert on perio/menopause as a result of her own experience. In the episode we talk about: The difference between perimenopause and menopauseWhen do symptoms start and how can we reduce the impact of themHow genetics vs lifestyle factor inWhen does perimenopause start and whyWhat are things that can make it worseHow stress affects menopauseWhich hormones are changing and howStages of perimenopauseThe age ranges that perimenopause can start What are symptoms of perio menopause and menopauseHow HRT works and how to know if it's right for youWhat supplements and herbs can help the most  This conversation covers SO much on this topic, most importantly, that there are things we can do TODAY to slow down the arrival of menopause and we have lots of choices how to handle it when it arrives.  There is zero reason this needs to be such a mystery and there are a TON of resources out there. So reassuring. Connect with Sheryl:Website: https://www.ytvhealthcoaching.com/Connect with See The Upside:Website - www.SeetheUpside.comInstagram - @see.theupsideFacebook - See The Upside Your feedback means everything! If you love this episode, please share it with a friend or leave a review on Apple or Spotify xoxo

We cover: * What animals can teach us about how to treat one another * The value of taking time to walk in someone else's shoes * The greatest episode ever of Buffy The Vampire Slayer :) And much more Sheryl Green is a New York native living and thawing in Las Vegas since 2008. When a devastating divorce shook her world, she found solace in animal rescue. In 2015, she hosted an event to honor Pele, a very special service dog, and found her true passion. Paw it Forward raised $5,000 for the newly formed Hearts Alive Village and Sheryl was asked to join the rescue. She now serves as the Director of Communications for the organization. She is a professional speaker and the author of Surviving to Thriving: How to Overcome Setbacks and Rock Your Life, Book Writing for Busy People, Once Upon a Bottom Line™: Harnessing the Power of Storytelling in Sales, and Do Good to Do Better: The Small Business Guide to Growing Your Business by Helping Nonprofits. Fun fact about Sheryl: she challenged herself to 365 days of Kindness/Love and have been posting it on Facebook each day. I did a year of gratitude a few years ago and figured this would be the best way to put some good energy out into the world. Sheryl is the proud mom to a beagle/lab mix named Akasha and a chihuahua/corgi mix named Bodhi. She spends her free time hiking, writing, and tending to an absurd number of houseplants.
