It's a mixed bag of topics this week. There is no theme holding all the thoughts together. What will Shawn say on this week's episode? No one knows--not even him! Prepare yourself for a cosmic adventure to nowhere! Valentine's Day was this week. How did you spend the day? Is it Single Awareness Day? Did you go to a fancy restaurant? I spent the day at work, followed by an evening of watching TV, eating chocolate and relaxing. Melissa went to Mexico with her family. We celebrated earlier in the week. Television and movies are fun. I used to host a podcast all about pop culture and movies and toys. I am currently enjoying The Last Of Us. We are only 5 episodes into the series and it is really great so far. I haven't played the video game it is based on, but that doesn't seem to matter. The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard premieres this week. I have been eagerly anticipating seeing the reunion of the Next Generation crew. My brother Robin and I are going to see Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania on Thursday. Who doesn't love Paul Rudd? The situation with my dad has improved recently. Things had been tense for quite some time. He recently reached out. We have been doing coffee and having visits. All in all, it has been quite pleasant so far. Check out Rusted Robot Toys. Brett Young is going to be the new spokesperson for Single Awareness Day!
Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & Sexuality It's Valentine's Day, Galentine's Day, Ballentine's Day (ok, Capt'n Max made that one up), Chinese New Year, National Tortellini Day, Single Awareness Day (a listener tells us about that one) and World Bonobo Day (#GoBonobos!) 2021, and we celebrate them all, especially LUPERCALIA, the original pagan Valentine's Day that marks the coming of Spring with the race of hormones, the howl of the wolf, the sensual, consensual sting of the whip and the lusty, fun-filled blessings of Pan, the horned, horny, mischievous and ecosexual god of the wild. Here in Bonoboville, we've celebrated the Lupercal, V-Day and all the High Holidays of Love with a fabulous flogging festival, Commedia Erotica reenactments, live music and a wild bacchanalian orgy of orgies for over 10 years. But it's 2021, and we're still making our masked and physically-distanced way through the treacherous Coronapocalypse, so it's just my #1 Valentine and me (plus able engineer Unscene Abe), broadcasting this special, heartfelt episode of F.D.R. (F*ck Da Rich) radio, featuring one of the greatest stories hardly ever told, the primeval tale of the Lupercal. We also say R.I.P. to Hustler publisher, Free Speech fighter and “interracial” porn pioneer, Larry Flynt, as well as Chicago 8 (and 7) antiwar activist Rennie Davis, and we roll our collective eyes over the “Gutless Offensive Pathetic” (GOP) refusal to convict twice-impeached Capitol Riot-inciter and all around a-hole, Donald J. Trumpty Dumpty. Not that we expected him to be found guilty by a “jury” of many who are also guilty. But first our F.D.R. Love Train takes the time warp through the Italian countryside just outside of Rome, and we venture into the deep dark womb-like cave of the Lupercal, where the ancient Holiday of the Heart was born… Can't get enough of V-Day's amazing origin story? Happy Valentines Day or in other words Single Awareness Day according to Charlamagne. Moreover, we had wide receiver Antonio Brown stop by for the first time where he spoke about all the controversy surrounding him, and even promoted a new song hes rapping on. Also, we had reformed bully 50 cent stop by where he spoke about French Montana, Power and more. Also, Charlamagne definitely got some people in their feelings after he gave the single people "Donkey of the Day" today Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
Valentine's Day or Single Awareness Day?
OK, we at First Of All just found out that Single Awareness Day is February 15th. Consider this your dating PSA for future reference. But also, Happy Valentine's Day loves! While it's a beautiful holiday to celebrate all the couples and their flourishing romantic love (and give Hallmark/Flowers.com 1/3 of their annual income), for others it can be a tough one filled with feelings of loneliness, pain, and/or just not feeling good enough. In this episode, Minji shares some of her thoughts on her new chapter of being single and a developing self-love practitioner. We just want to love on you whether you're newly single, can't remember your last relationship or if you've never had one. At every stage, learning how to accept and navigate our honest emotions and fill our own cup is one of the most important acts of love we can do. The dating culture teaches us how to break up, not how to stay together. What can we do about the way our hearts are shaped by our dating culture?
It's almost Valentine's Day, also known as Single Awareness Day or the most hated day of the year! You know what topic is coming...dating. Dating in New York City is an Olympic sport of its own. For those of you who don't live in the city, I promise you it's nowhere near as glamorous as Carrie Bradshaw's or Serena van der Woodsen's tales. However, it is just as dramatic and exhausting. In part one of the Unhinged series, I bring on one of my best friends/old roommates Lauren to talk about the impact of technology and NYC lifestyle on dating in your 20s. We talk about dating apps, LinkedIn stalking, expectations of partners, the difference between on paper versus in person, and more. You'll also hear the long-awaited results from my Instagram polls and a quick sneak peek to Part 2's topics (hint: it's all about sex). Those files were completely deleted and needs to be re-recorded so ignore me when I say in the podcast that it is up. Howdy folks! Julian here again. It's close to Valentine's Day, or Single Awareness Day as I like to call it. Last year, Patrick came up with a very smart, high-brow topic, but this year I decided to be super uninspired and talk about romance in vidya games. Join us, will you? We have JD as a special guest to talk about his recent game jam, but Angelo kicks things off with his hate/less hate relationship with Kingdom Hearts. It's a good intro, because it turns out that Angelo has a block of ice where normal people keep their hearts! Patrick joined a LAN (or is that land?) party, and I've been cuddling up with my 3DS lately. We then move on to the subject of love, romance, and all of that mushy stuff in games. We bring up some of the power couples such as Eddie Riggs and Ophelia, Tidus and Yuna, and The Prince and Elika. Angelo has some choice words for BioWare games, but he's entitled to his wrong opinion. I kid! I kid! JD talks about how Mass Effect helped him through some personal romantic issues he had, and Patrick holds a special place in his heart (container) for Link and Zelda. We wrap things up by talking about our most epic fails with romance, as well as getting a little bit creepy by coming up with the virtual characters we'd like to date if they were real. Is this episode in desperate need of a woman's touch? Absolutely! FEATURED MUSIC: Nightwish: Slow, Love, Slow The New York Dolls: We're All in Love Garth Brooks: The Red Strokes The Pretty Reckless: Make Me Wanna Die The Darkness: I Believe in a Thing Called Love

Hey folks, Julian here. I hope you had a great Valentine's Day (or Single Awareness Day if you're like the Pantsless Ones). I wanted to do something special for this episode, but my original idea was love stories in video games. Yawn. Instead, I asked Patrick to come up with an off the wall and eclectic idea, in the way that Patrick does. He did not disappoint, and it's a shame that Rob wasn't able to join us because of BLIZZARD 2013!!! We talk about what we've been playing. It's slim pickings, but Patrick's been powering through Simpsons: Tapped Out and FIFA 13, which leads to a nice discussion about "in-app" purchases. I'm working on Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (review coming soon!), but the big thing for me was playing an upcoming indie game: Pimps vs. Vampires. Pixel artist Thomas Noppers was nice enough to let me participate in a recent weapons test and I liked what I played. Go give him some love on Twitter. We also speculate on what could come out of the upcoming Sony PS4 announcement. Patrick takes the lead for romance, focusing on the countries that spawned the romantic languages: France, Italy, Spain, and Romania. This leads us to a lengthy talk about game design in Europe. Not quite flowers and chocolates, but I think you'll find it interesting. We digress into other regions as well, highlighting the potential for game design in Saudi Arabia and Ireland. Patrick brings up an interesting article about Spanish game design, which you can read here. Part two of the discussion brings in the Romantic movement. We wax philosophical about games that could be considered a part of this period in history, as well as pontificate about what impact video games could have had if they had existed back then. It's something different than you're used to from Nerds Without Pants, and I hope you enjoy it.So put on your smoking jacket and adjust your horn-rimmed glasses, because we get academic on your ass this week.
