I am Infinite. I am cosmic. I am purple, obsequious, and clairvoyant. I am POST RELEVANT. I AM the END of the END of TIME.... Fall into the cosmic crystal oceans along the edge of the Lagoon Nebula and surf the silver tides of Aldebaran! The time has come for the grand entrance of the Ladies of the Hour. Let's all live in a swamp and be three dimensional! You are about to witness the return of the Elfling herself to the show for the first time ever! Ladies and Gentlemen, Its Laurelle Rethke, performer, healer, and curator of the Faerie Den crystal shop in NYC. I knew she would be perfect for investigating the deeper themes of the scene in "Under the Silver Lake" where Sam brings a gun to a hut and meets the Final Man and his three brides. And she was! She is! Laurelle and host Phil talk about what parts of the film were spooky, why she remembered UTSL as a bunch of scenes with pretty girls in them, and then we got in deep on the Moon. We dive like dolphins into the Moon's glades of significance - as a tarot card, as a temple, as a tempest temperature taker. We wander across the wonderland of the body's bioelectric fields , feet like salmon zodiacs transform into the apostles and figure out how many snakes Ophiucus is holding. We cast lines to catch the queen of the Fish Tower, Mary Magdalene, and slather on the nard to understand how the Ladies of the Hour applied the medicine. And we wonder about mystery witches wandering Mu.... Its a musical odyssey to make your honey hustle as Phil and Laurelle explore the multiversal moving picture known as "Under the Silver Lake" to a complete musical score. Also! A new song -- "Her Mystery School" -- debuts on the show. The "School" rocks like a crystal shop as the lyrics linger along levels of the edge of orange mirrors - see if you can decipher them on instagram.com/philristaino. Plus! All this and lowly comedy, too!!! Meet a real city-dwelling faerie as she skates the shapes of Persephone's fate and teaches us to cleanse our crystals in the moon light. You'll feel the magic as real until you are dull and boring and omnipresent! As we wrap our series this week on "Why Are You Hiding?" we address the fear many of us harbour about what comes after the success. Instead of living in the moment, or going after the goal with all of our might, we worry about the repeat performance. Here's how to get out of your own head and get out there! In this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, I outline four primary reasons too many of us get stuck being who we're "supposed" to be rather than who we're MEANT to be. My hope is that you either recognize these patterns in your own life and decide that now is the time to pivot, or you are at least more conscious of this possibility that you may be living out the expectations of others rather than living out the dreams of your own. "What has entrepreneurship taught you about yourself as a woman?" It's one of the cornerstone questions that I ask each guest of the Support is Sexy podcast. The answers range from inspiring to surprising, but always intriguing. Lately, perhaps because we've now been in this podcasting journey together for a year, I've begun to ask myself some of the questions that I pose to my guests. And when I asked this one, about what I've learned about myself as an entrepreneur and ask a result of entrepreneurship, one word came to mind: Compartmentalization. Though I never thought it would be a technique I'd call on, I share in this episode how it has not only saved me from making stupid and hasty decisions time and again, but it has also made me a better entrepreneur. Listen to find out how you may harness the power of compartmentalization as well. SUBSCRIBE to the Support is Sexy podcast on Apple Podcasts or on Stitcher Radio! I've spoken quite a bit recently about being more intentional about my own self care, and encouraging you to be more intentional about yours. Of course, there's proper diet, regular exercise and healthy environments that all play into that, but there's also the important factor of your support network. Not just friends, family and colleagues, but fellow entrepreneurs who support your kind of crazy! On this episode I offer seven smart ways to get started building -- or reinforcing -- your support network. Many you may know, but it never helps to revisit it. I certainly needed a refresher, hopefully this will be a breath of fresh air for your as well. I'd love to hear if you have other ideas! Dahcia Bastien became fascinated with the idea of becoming an entrepreneur during college at University at Albany, when her boyfriend-now-husband, Jacques Bastien -- who freelanced throughout school -- defined entrepreneurship as the freedom to create something that's your own. Dahcia didn't know exactly what that freedom looked like for her, but what she made sure to do was remain open to the possibilities, even while working her 9-to-5 job at the New York State Assembly after graduation. As she worked with her husband on running his marketing company, Boogie, this possibility eventually evolved into Shade -- an innovative influencer marketing agency she created that represents influencers of color. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, Dahcia shares how to find a gap in the market, jump in and fill it, how to serve underserved customers, the importance of launching before you're "ready" and knowing when to move on and when you're on to something. PLUS, what you need to know to build your brand and become a successful influencer. Show notes, links and resources for this episode may be found at supportissexypodcasst.com. DON’T MISS AN EPISODE! 5-4-3-2-1... If, within just five seconds, you challenged yourself to do the thing you said you were going to do -- to keep a commitment, send that email, make that call, feed the kids, go to the gym -- think of how different (and productive!) life would be. This is a lesson I'm learning while reading the book, The 5 Second Rule, by Mel Robbins. I highly recommend it! Such a simple concept that has the potential to be the catalyst for a major mindset shift for all of us who apply it. How do I know? Because I applied it recently and actually saw it work magnificently. On this episode, I share that experience with you, how it changed everything, and how you can adopt the same principle in your own business and life. If there's one thing that entrepreneurship teaches you, whether you're ready for the lesson or not, it's how resourceful you are -- or not. This is one of the things that life strategist SharRon Jamison loves about entrepreneurship, and what she learned from her parents, who always had a side hustle when she was growing up. SharRon -- a native of Missouri who moved around 14 times with her teen parents before she reached high school -- took note of this model, and while building her career as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry during the past 30-plus years, she always had in her mind that she was going to launch her own business some day. On this episode, though, SharRon speaks candidly about past childhood wounds, including cruel racism, that she had to overcome in order to reach that place where she felt comfortable stepping into the spotlight, and shares what we all need to understand about ourselves to overcome life's obstacles and have the courage to be our true selves. On this episode you'll learn: The true value of the side hustle. How to utilize corporate America as the training ground for you're life's work.Understanding that your worthiness is a birthright.Recognizing when your private pain is showing up in public places. Why if you don't deal with your wounds your wounds will win.You have to be okay celebrating yourself by yourself. What it means to have courage to follow your truth and not tradition.Reasons some of the people who are most successful often feel the least fulfilled. How to recognize when something within is not working.3 things that she says each of us wants. How to restructure your life so you get better, not just busy. Why you must have a growth plan. The importance of learning to choose yourself. The different dysfunctional personalities that you need to be aware of. I get it -- when you're building your business and creating something sexy it's go, go go, right? If it's going well, you don't want it to stop so you keep pushing; or, if it's not going so well, you feel like you can't stop so you keep pushing. Either way, the result is you pushing and pushing and pushing. Here's the thing about pushing, eventually, if you're not careful, your body will push back and tell you that, "hey, you need to take a break!" That was the case for me when a recent migraine shut everything down and stopped me not only from pushing, but from working at all. On this episode, I want to remind you of ways to take care of yourself before you body pushes back. You're a super woman, but you don't have to be Superwoman. Take care of yourself, and take a break! As women in today's world, we certainly are embracing our agency more and creating lives and businesses that we love; but there are still times when we have to be reminded that WE have control of our own narratives. At a time when our decisions, our bodies and our access to opportunities continue to be blocked in many ways, remember that you are the author of your life (or the co-author, if you're like me and you believe that a higher power is at work with you on this journey). Don't let the world tell you who you are supposed to be. Be who you're MEANT to be and control the narrative. DON’T MISS AN EPISODE!
