Jonny Drury & Ollie Westbury bring you the latest episode of Shrews Views - with special guest Shaun Whalley. The Salop legend, who spent seven years at the Meadow, joined the boys to discuss everything from his Town career. He discusses how signing for Salop helped him with off field issues, and he reflects on the superb 2017/18 campaign that saw the club flirt with promotion to the Championship. He talks other big memories at the clubs and reflects on his departure and the breakdown of his relationship with then Salop boss Steve Cotterill.
Much like our beloved Northampton Town, Shrewsbury Town were predicted to struggle by the pundits this season. And after sacking Steve Cotterill in pre season, most Salop fans seemed to be worrying about what lay ahead for their team in 23/24. In came former Cobbler Matty Taylor to take Salop to a new era but that time feels a long way away at the moment. Shrewsbury have won just three of their opening ten games in League One. All of them against fellow early strugglers - Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Burton - and all of them in August. They only managed to pick up a solitary point from their four games last month, a 0-0 draw at home to Charlton. And October hasn't started well for Salop either - Oxford thumped them 3-0 on Tuesday night and midfielder Joe Anderson was sent off to compound their misery. On this episode, Danny and Charles sit down to talk about the Cobblers win over Reading on Tuesday night and what they think will happen at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday. Birmingham visit Griffin Park on Tuesday night in a game which could prove to be pivotal for both teams. Birmingham need the points to avoid falling back into the relegation trap door. Whereas Brentford, being only 5 points off the playoffs, need three points to get themselves in with a shout of a top 6 finish. More to the point, it's Harlee Dean, Maxime Colin and Jota's first return to Griffin Park since they left for Birmingham City at the end of the summer transfer window with Harlee Dean's 'Birmingham are 10 times better than Brentford' quote going down like a sack of sh!t amongst Brentford fans. Billy Grant and Dave Lave from Beesotted decided it's time to pull together a rare mid-week mini-pod - the perfect excuse to talk about the big game. It also gave us a chance to look back to last weekend in the North East where Brentford had an impressive 2-0 win against The Black Cats.
