POPULARITY
In this week's show, an irrational ex Labour PM joins Farage - in nonsense on net zero. The Telegraph smeared Dale again, then apologised and then donated to Gaza - all in less than a week. In the saga the score stands at 8-0. Dale finds an unlikely ally in Richard Tice, but only half so and Zero carbon homes are back on the agenda, starting with a new/old rule for new builds. Questions pour in from listeners, not least on ‘breaking the link' and of course we have some X-rated rantings…..
The need for more Nuclear cops, the MAGA diet that will surely work, more pointless tariffs and a madly big cheque - on one side as we take a dive into something you might call Nexit. With the usual gaggle of listeners chipping in, not least about the last ice age.
Times Radio out does the Telegraph for a Daily Dale this week as we mix British Steel - energy and a nutty new right wing narrative - about Ed Milliband - with the new line from Nige and Semi, while our contributors in X rated corner make clear just how dangerous that is. We've got a bit of a food focus too as our right wing nut award goes to a Big Farm funded propaganda campaign against science, pesticides are found in our houses (100s of them) and banned substances are in Scottish farmed salmon - which is an actual crime. Some great questions - like how many windmills can we get for the price of Sizewell C, the answer to that might surprise you.
Trump's tariff assault on the World has unexpected consequences, of course, but this one takes the biscuit. As factory farming comes under attack, for a reverse pandemic and the rise of superbugs - the public strikes back, we get an update on grass as food. Ian has a fan but it's not what it seems. And a new direct action group start making Citizen's arrests. Great questions around electric planes and solar panels along with more laughs in the X-rated corner. Oh and the climate crisis will destroy capitalism - not according to an eco warrior…
Trump versus the weathermen - hedge funds to the rescue? Tesla and the China Syndrome. California (not so) dreaming, sea water sucking, woods and trees and net zero ducking. The return of Cummings! and er what's Bianca got to do with it….RickAAAY?
Musk faces market Karma while Trump pumps Tesla, and a tiny tax that could change everything. Dale has a dress code issue with government security and Ian puts on his Reform hat to explain it all. This week's right wing nut Kemi B tells big porkies about net zero in the week a new report paints the clearest picture yet. Over the pond Greenpeace face wipeout in a crazy court decision, while back home Britain's carbon emissions hit an incredible new record. For clarity in a crazy world don't miss this.
This week Dale's looking for a job, animal poo from farms gets a new classification, lab grown food meanwhile is round the corner, the Aussies print a new house, Reform talk farm manure about energy, pylons that can cut your energy bills and a global kickback against the Musk. Chock full of sense and nonsense - with a sprinkling of X rated corner. Don't miss it…:)
We got that, Dale in Tatler, Bezos in third, religious attitudes to this eco stuff, the wealth tax comes back, Drax giving us all the Vs and windmills going dark - who could want more? We got X rated corner if you do....:)
Having cut off military support to Ukraine, the US is now no longer sharing military intelligence either. Plus: Donald Trump's marathon address to congress; and the British millionaires who are demanding to be taxed more. With Michael Walker, Volodymyr Dubovyk, David Adler and Dale Vince.
The “HamasGate” saga endgame approaches as the Daily Mail and Guido Fawkes fold.We look at a new report from those eco fanatics at the CBI while the fossil fools at BP doubles down. And in its latest report The Climate Change Committee talks cars and kebabs. Dale explains why we need to ‘break the link' in order to get our bills down - but is anyone listening….. And on X-rated corner - a bit of S&M.
This week we brush past the latest improbabilities that are Trump actuals and dive into food and nature. Wolves can help us cut carbon and the eye crushing of shrimps. The Telegraph appear to be Dale's new media platform as they carry his social media posts as stories - this week Jim Radcliffe and Man Utd in the crosshairs. And then there's the incredible study of diets using 22 pairs of identical twins…Dale's gold jacket and No. 10 sleepovers…
Good news for tree huggers. Bad news for the perps of Hamasgate. Green skyscrapers, invisible killers and Trump's exploding straws. Great audience questions give us Dale's new motor, diamond lessons and Ian gets a roasting - while X-rated corner makes some sense! What is happening...?
This week Dale faces fact-free allegations from the party of corruption. And we go where economists fear to tread - running the numbers on new runways and oil, and we look at the mini nukes that defy the laws of economic gravity. Some bunch of eco loons reckon we can add £57bn to our GDP with green stuff... and avoid three more Brexits with nature stuff… Most surprising of all is the sense we find in X-rated corner.... Don't miss it.
This week we look at Belinda Carlisle's view of heaven; the Moral Maze; French schools and wine; Trumps Tariffs, Crypto, Gaza plans and USAID; Death of the Aga Khan; Protecting womens sport in the US; Angela Rayner and Islamaphobia; growth of LGBTQI youth numbers in the UK; Trans indoctrination in the UK; Sadiq Khan removes pronouns; Country of the week - Myanmar; Big Pharma funding Bernie Sanders; History of the Bagpipes; Joe Rogan on LA fires; Dale Vince gets his reward; Death of Jack Hemmings; persecution of the Church in China; Feedback and Psalm 27 with music from Belinda Carlisle, UB40, the Beatles, Fred Morrison, the Peatbog Faeries; Marty Robbins; and the Gettys
One article every day for five days looks like an obsession. A mad media week ending with dawn till dusk coverage on Gaza, donations, Heathrow, big green energy projects and a middle eastern connection - a proper eclectic mix with one element in common. And the oxymoron that is Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Has Labour blown its green credentials? And X-rated corner does its thing.
This week we reflect on the new Bob Dylan biopic - a complete unknown - including the UK's wind failure; cost of electricity in Australia, Dale Vince's hypocrisy; CIA and Wuhan; The Year of the Snake; Emlilia Perez; Australian censor permits violent sex novels; Steve Smith reaches 10,000; DeepSeek; Remembering Auschwitz; Anti-Semitism in Australia; Ben and Jerries Woke Empire; No Debating; Days off to Learn how to be anti-Racist in Scottish schools; Country of the week - Congo; Population of Earth in Christ's time; Preacher arrested for sign against Islam; and Feedback. with music from Bob Dylan, Johnny Wakelin, Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, John Williams and Pete Seeger

We've got it all, US flat earthers land in Blighty, Reform want new coal mines - while climate scientists talk of weather whiplash. One side is hideously wrong. Meanwhile, is Veganuary flopping? Who says we need more roads to get to net zero and X-Rated corner gives us a fact - you couldn't make that up..:)
Trump out-Trumps himself - with his imperial ambitions for Greenland, Canada and the Panama Canal… while his new his bro Musk wants to run Britain. Biz bosses earn astounding sums but can't pay tax - while the climate crisis does untold economic harm last year. And Trump wants to ban wind - that just sounds odd. We have X-rated corner for light relief though..:)
In this episode we explore a pivotal year - from Labour's game-changing election win, the global surge in renewables, hitting that 1.5 degree target a decade too soon and warnings of more to come. Dale breaks down the good and the bad - and the bold solutions emerging for the coming year - as we approach the start of the second half of that vital last decade the UN said we had - in which to take bold action. What's next in the fight for our future...?
This episode we got Big Food trying to stop cows from farting, Musk trying to pollute our politics, we hear about Dale's week in the High Court, his visit to the Guardian picket line and some great green energy news. On X rated corner we have fabulous backhanded compliments, Liberace and another conspiracy theory, while regular listeners chip in with Xmas jumper dress codes in schools (yikes) and a villain accused of taking meat from school kids? Bat sh*t crazy way to end the year.
Bendy solar panels can do what? US support for UN climate plans begets fury. Milk can't be called milk… and a wooden football stadium is now nailed on. Musk threatens to distort British politics - Reform already does that... while X Rated corner continues to entertain.
A very special live episode from Liverpool Accelerator City.... :)

Noisy heat pumps, pointless COPs, Fags and Bacon - and Farming's new bestie... yeah right. Plus some old chestnuts - and false choices.
Another oil baron kicks off another Petrostate COP this week – Keir Starmer stands up for climate justice, sets bold new target but makes interesting claim, - while 18 of the G20 are doing their laundry or something. I revel in my new role of ‘Staines remover' and we look at the curious story of Turkey 'theft' by a vet. With of course fab Qs from the audience - keep 'em coming.
Caroline Wheeler of The Sunday Times assesses the latest developments at Westminster. Following the publication of the assisted dying bill, Caroline speaks to one of its supporters, the Labour MP and former surgeon, Peter Prinsley, and the palliative care expert and long-time campaigner against assisted dying, Baroness Ilora Finlay. To discuss what the election of Donald Trump means for the war in Ukraine, Caroline brings together the former Conservative Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, and Nato's former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, General Sir John McColl.Dale Vince, founder of the green energy company Ecotricity and one of Labour's biggest donors, discusses the COP29 summit in Azerbaijan and the UK's drive for net zero. And, as Donald Trump appoints Elon Musk to look at ways to cut trillions from US government spending, Caroline asks if the UK could benefit from a similar endeavour with Labour MP, and chair of the Treasury Select Committee, Meg Hillier, and the former Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs, Mark Littlewood.
Right wing nuts dominate the latest episode… but here's why Trump won't be able to stop Net Zero and James Dyson should stop whinging and pay his taxes like the rest of us.
This week we talk Budget, Green-on-Green battles, why I'm saying No in November, and I unpack my supposed "shadowy" support for the Labour Party...:)
We got left and right wing nuts this week - as the heat pump rumble, rumbles on and I'm accused of all manner of things. The UN issues a stark warning ‘apocalypse this century' looks nailed on. With the Budget coming, we talk about making tax more fair. Water companies continue to outrage, their apocalypse is surely just around the corner. All with a fab dose of listener questions, and X rated icing on the cake.

The Monbiot episode? Well, it was hard to avoid some mention of the extraordinary attacks, sparked by my public comments on Heat Pumps. Our school dinner campaign has bled over (wrong choice of words?) into the NHS - I've been advocating for more tax (again) and then we talk Drax (the actual one) and the bonkers plans of the last government to buy trees from far-flung countries - to feed the beast. Our listeners chip in with brilliant contributions - not least X rated corner - I think I love these guys...:)
This week we talk Regicide, Hurricanes, Football, Climate Villains (and tax exiles) and news giving us reason to maybe co opt that old right wing saw “what about China?”. Then we get to the serious stuff, listener questions and we have fish on the beach, cows in the room, grid fairies and zero carbon flying (no fairy tale that) - and X rated corner is what it is...:)
Keir gives up British islands to China controlled Mauritius as the sleaze scandals keep coming in, Mike has a ding dong with Labour donor eco-wizard, Dale Vince and Robert Jenrick is on selling himself for the Tory leadership. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Cracking episode... We kick off with the Tory party conference - just another episode in the saga of the race to lead the zombie party. We celebrate the end of coal in the UK, although the joy's somewhat dampened by a big gamble on Carbon Capture. In 'non-news', we have fossil fuel companies not investing in green... Our undercover team's been busy too – breaking a dirty salmon farming story live on ITV, followed by another on snares and a Duke. Fab questions, great intervention from Julie, and some humorous names in our X-rated corner...
This week – we dive into the Labour Conference with fringe events, speeches, and wall-to-wall media interviews, covering donations, wealth tax, and winter fuel allowance... The big bad boy that landed in the press was the mandatory meat and dairy for school dinners, stirring up quite the storm... Keir Starmer's sausage slip-up makes the headlines, and I share my own sausage moment on Sky News...:) Plus, we chat about the bizarre Green 100 list placing Theresa May above me, and finish with fab questions on everything from school meals to protein made from grass... Oh, and that bloke Musk.
The red half of Westminster will shortly decamp to Liverpool for the first Labour conference since the party's general election landslide. Host Sascha O'Sullivan looks at a group which played a key role in that victory — the left-wing think-tank Labour Together. Sascha pieces together the fascinating origin story of Labour Together, speaking to ITV Deputy Political Editor Anushka Asthana, author of a new book, which details the group's influence, and Keir Starmer biographer Tom Baldwin. Andrew Cooper, political pollster and member of Labour Together advisory board, tells Sascha how Josh Simons, former director of the think tank, built on the work of Morgan McSweeney by using deep voter analysis to help Labour HQ. Sascha speaks to the group's new chief executive, Jonathan Ashworth, about Labour Together's role in shaping the thinking of the new government. He addresses some of the cronyism accusations surrounding the think tank and is quizzed by Sascha on its purpose now Labour is in power. Henry Newman, former political adviser and author of the Whitehall project, explains the concerns about how Labour Together acted as a middleman for political donations between wealthy individuals and politicians. Labour "mega-donor" Dale Vince tells Sascha why he gave money to the think tank. And think tank stalwarts Harry Quilter-Pinner of the Institute of Public Policy Research, Ryan Wain of the Tony Blair Institute and Charlotte Pickles explain how Labour Together fits into the world of the wonks and how different it is from most policy outfits. This week - An ex government minister says some crazy stuff and goes toe to toe with Nige for the right wing nut award - while an actual government minister says something crazy but true. The nuttiest project from the Tory years gets the High Court boot and the implications of that are big. Look out, Rosebank... We reflect on the good things Thatcher did… weird, and then discover Counterfactual Corner… you gotta love it…:)
In this one, we've got methane – a bit of a climate villain and another reason to ditch the cow. Right-wing nuts are back – Trump and his leading acolyte on this side of the pond, both vying for top spot. And vegan dogs and cats – who knew? Even vets admit they live longer, healthier lives. Green populism gets a run out in the US as a way to engage the right-wing in the polar bear-saving agenda. Plus, some simply fabulous listener questions, including a new X-rated section. Oh, and do you know which animal in Britain kills the most humans…?
Our new season kicks off and we talk about the title, what it might have been and why it is what it is. We have Rishi and his 4 foot wooden spoon, a summer of Grid Faeries and the incredibly self unaware rantings of Reform in the House. The success of the latest renewable auction and the nuclear story behind that - plus our listeners are back with a bang, not least with the 10 million tonne question…
It's been a crazy ride this series - blessed with an abundance of right wing nuts, we explored all manner of craziness, not least from Sunak and co (remember him? Nah us neither). The series spanned Dale's time immersed in the summer of Just Stop Oil, the vital pivot to Just Stop the Tories (to de fang the right wing media) all the way up to our election campaign called Just Vote - and the actual election at which we did indeed Just Stop the Tories. Not sure Season 6 can top that, but who knows. Still needs a name btw……over to you.
LIVE from WOMAD - Dale really enjoyed the audience questions on this live session which was off the charts, just brilliant. Great questions, great discussion, wide ranging, free ranging really - and great fun. Made the day.
Recorded LIVE at WOMAD. We cover the origin of 'Just Stop the Tories,' the significance of the recent Labour election victory, and their rapid policy changes. We also delve into Labour's green credentials, the Green Party's views and the economic benefits of renewable energy... Additionally, we discuss personal anecdotes with Tory MPs, public misconceptions about green energy, and the evolving role of direct action and protest.
E189 Shownotes: The Football Sustainability Index In this episode, we delve into the transformative world of football sustainability. We explore the Football Sustainability Index, a groundbreaking initiative assessing clubs on their environmental impact, equality standards, financial sustainability, and community engagement. Joining us is Niall Couper from Fair Game, a volunteer-driven organisation dedicated to transforming the governance of football to ensure the sport contributes positively to its communities and operates sustainable. This episode uncovers the current challenges and vision for football's sustainable future. What is the Football Sustainability Index? The index assesses football clubs on environmental impact, equality standards, financial sustainability, and community engagement. Football clubs are not just teams. They are community hubs offering services like dementia groups, walking football, food banks, and environmental programs. Current Challenges in Football: The football culture often prioritises short-term gains through high player wages over long-term community investments. The Premier League generates £3.19 billion annually, with most funds directed towards player wages, leaving minimal support for lower league clubs. Example: For every £1,000 a Premier League club earns, only 15 pence goes to lower league clubs. Increasing this to £22 would greatly enhance community services. Long-Term Vision for Football: Encouraging clubs to adopt long-term thinking can strengthen community ties and create a more sustainable football ecosystem. Clubs like AFC Wimbledon and Lincoln City exemplify how a long-term approach can yield both social and financial benefits. Regulatory Framework and Financial Instability: The football governance bill proposes an independent regulator to oversee financial distributions and ensure clubs meet sustainability criteria. Since 2000, 64 clubs have gone into administration, with 58% of clubs in the top four divisions being technically insolvent. ESG and Equal Pay in Football: Niall highlights Dale Vince's Green Code initiative promoting sustainability in football. Will discusses the holistic approach, including veganism, at Forest Green Rovers. Niall suggests rewarding clubs adhering to sustainable practices to drive cultural change. Niall emphasises the need for financial incentives for clubs excelling in sustainability and advocates integrating the Green Code into a broader sustainability index. Niall covers Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions tracking and the importance of long-term thinking in football management. The podcast concludes by discussing Fair Game's efforts to create an index for clubs based on sustainability, social impact, and financial stability. Resources:
The Tories have been stopped, Labour wastes no time, and we look at a bit of green-on-green action. Dale's feeling the pressure for a new name, NIMBYs in the firing line, and another eco-activist in the dock as we ask - why are the good guys getting banged up? Another temperature record, windmills with no gears, what has Ian learned in 5 years of doing this… and other fab listener questions. Our last episode of the season ends on a high as we look ahead to a live show at WOMAD and the Vegan Camp Out.

Today, we look at the reaction to the alleged comments made by Tory donor Frank Hester as well as warnings from a watchdog that pet owners are overpaying for medicines. Adam and Chris discuss the reported remarks by Frank Hester, who has donated £10 million to the Conservative Party, after Rishi Sunak's person described the donor's comments as “racist”. Mr Hester's company said he "accepts that he was rude about Diane Abbott in a private meeting several years ago but his criticism had nothing to do with her gender nor colour of skin".It said he had tried to apologise directly to her for the hurt he has caused, and is deeply sorry for his remarks.Dale Vince, Labour Party donor and CEO of Ecotricity tells Adam what it's like to be a donor of a political party.
