In the sugar-fueled '90s, Pepsi had one goal: win the Cola Wars. But when it launched “Pepsi Stuff", an ambitious promotion that encouraged people to buy Pepsi and redeem points for prizes, they overlooked their own fine print. When they promised a military-grade plane for less than it was worth "as a joke," Pepsi never imagined somebody might try to actually snag it. Colour plays an important role in the social hierarchy, and it’s important that everyone knows their place. Such social constructs play an important part in elevating the important people above the lower-level nobodies. Using this construct we wanted to elevate ourselves, which is why we wanted to have a certain guest on the show. This guest, among other many great things, is universally known for his colour. Tehran Von Ghasri is a “blue-tick” American-based comedian and was kind enough to give us lower-level, non-“blue-tick” Twitter people, an education as well as a little elevation. During our humourous discussion, Tehran talks about his tribulations with social constructs, the Iranian community and their social hierarchies, as well as contemporary shifts in comedy. Tehran has the best of both worlds. Hailing from the nation's capital, Washington D.C., Tehran was born and raised in the United States to an Iranian father and a Black-Tehran-2American mother. On this episode RECAP: HULU'S RAMY - SEASON 2 - EPISODE 5 - ARIANA GRANDE, Dena takes center place as she has become the recipient of a full ride scholarship to law school, a fact she publicizes first on Facebook to the dismay of her parents. Farouk and especially Maysa are worried that Dena will receive the Evil Eye and be jinxed. Maysa tells Dena of Uncle Naseem's bout with the evil eye which caused him great misfortune. Dena, to modern to believe in such nonsense takes her parents warning with a grain of salt and is annoyed by their lack of enthusiasm for her. Dena is concerned and goes to visit Uncle Naseem to determine how to rid herself of what she is sure now is the evil eye curse. Uncle Naseem cryptically tells her to visit a mystic who can help her. Once there the mystic is immediately off put by the energy of Dena's misfortune as determined by the configuration of her turkish coffee fortune. The mystic grabs a paper shaped like a person and pricks it several times with a needle stating the names of the people who 'liked' her facebook post. The mystic then burns the paper and circles Dena's head with sage reciting prayers and seance alike. Once in the car again, the doctor from Dena's check up calls to tell her the lump is a benign normal lump, Fibroadenoma. The driver, a Mexican naturalized citizen, makes a series of negative stereotype comments to Dena in regards to being Muslim and having her head covered. After being attacked verbally by the driver for her insistence on wearing the scarf and maintaining her cultural identity, Dena has a justified meltdown and goes off on the driver expressing the headscarf is to cover her balding condition and dispels many of the negative things the driver says. Dena tells the driver to pull over, let her out, and take her car to the shop without doing anything to it. On this episode RECAP: HULU'S RAMY - SEASON 2 - EPISODE 6 - THEY, we explore more of Maysa, the mother, as she is on her quest to become a citizen. Maysa takes her studies and duties very seriously. She reaches out to a lawyer who says her case seems like it will be "softball" a term she learns means very easy. Her dreams come to a seeming halt in her mind when she is suspended by Lyft for an incident. She calls Lyft frantically to find out what the incident is. Not only does she want to work she also irrationally worry about her chances to become a citizen. She expresses her frustration to Dena who is attempting to study for her new law school. Dena tries to calm her mother down by explaining the irrationality, Maysa is not having it. Dena tells Maysa to go over her day. He is aware of Maysa and the incident the day before and very upset by it. Maysa admits to stalking the couple to which Sofia's boyfriend calls the cop. Dena comes to Maysa's rescue and explains the situation to the cops. The couple is not pressing charges. Dena and Maysa have a harsh heart to heart in which Dena tells Maysa she is rude not honest. Dena also expresses how her mother has been very rude to her in the past. Maysa expresses her love and pride for Dena and not wanting her to make the same mistakes Maysa has made. They are Hunters and have been assigned to complete a new mission. The team is on board, plus Gemma and Enoch, the spaceship faced with the dilemma to awaken an LMD version of Culson. They are torn because they know this is not what Culson would have wanted however it is what the team and the world may need right now. Quake sees Culson and before the discussion can be concluded hits the button. Culson is woken and goes through a confusing state as he is attempting to process 2 years of information in 10 seconds. Mack shuts him off. They awaken him later and is brought up to date. After hearing the call in regards to the police officers who had their faces burned off, the team plans on finding the Chromicoms and stopping their plan to take over the world. Deke updates the team on the possible guidelines of time travel as they use Deke's humorous guise of being Canadian Mounties who are helping the police investigate the gruesome deaths. Once on the scene, Deke begins to scan the bodies for DNA and clues while Culson and Mack follow up on a clue on a bottle of whiskey with a swordfish which Culson presumes is in relation to a close speakeasy which is a hub used by the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) precursor to SHIELD. After an encounter Mack and Culson are reunited with a Koenig, this time Ernest Hazard Koenig who is owner of the speak easy. While Quake and Deke are attacked by the returning Chromicoms in their new identity. On this ship, Gemma offers Yo Yo a new pair of arms to easier fit in. Yo Yo is reluctant to accept them because she does not want to forget. Quake and Deke manage to bring back a Chromicom hostage. Gemma hooks up the Chromicom to a machine to generate continual junk data in a torture method in order to extract the nature of the Chromicom plan. Mack, Culson, Quake, and Deke attend the Governor FDR party as he is to begin his presidential run, thinking FDR is the Chromicom target. They are joined by Freddy on behalf of Koenig. As the team attempts to protect FDR from a possible Chromicom attack, on the ship Gemma is able to extract the name Freddy. Freddy is the the actual Chromicom target not FDR. The team arrives just in time to save Freddy. Turns out Freddy is the key to Hydra and the team must save Hydra in order to save the world. No Hydra. No SHIELD. So at this time its all hail Hydra. In this premier pilot episode of CW's STARGIRL - SEASON 1 - EPISODE 1 - PILOT - A golden age of heroes protected the world for decades. Ten years ago that golden age ended. But this one has just begun. We being the episode following Pat Dugan in a classic, seemingly 1955 Oldsmobile, driving frantically towards a mansion estate. Inside the mansion a roaring battle is going on between the Justice Society of America led by Starman's heroics and the Injustice Society comprising of villains Brainwave, The Wizard, Icicle, and Grundy. Starman putting up the last bit of fight heroically stops Brainwave but is caught off guard by a sharp icicle by Icicle which leaves him fatally wounded. Pat Dugan, Starman's sidekick gathers him and takes him into the car. Grundy gives chase, as Dugan puts the car into special gear and takes to the sky but not before the car is damaged by Grundy. The flight gets the sidekick and hero out of harms way but crash lands later. Unharmed by the crash but fatally wounded, Starman gives Pat the staff and tells him to hide it. To give it to one who is worthy, and humorously that is not him at all. Mike has become very adjusted and made new friends. He leaves as Courtney is left with Pat and Barbara. Courtney also finds the Cosmic Staff which brightens and comes to life at her touch. The staff only meant to be held by Starman works for Courtney and takes her on an adventure. Courtney finds herself at the drive in and once again stands up to the jock bullies as they bother other movie goers, blowing up the jocks car. As she sleeps that night, the staff comes to Courtney. The staff takes her to practice. As she practices, the jock, Henry King Jr is being chastised by his father for blowing up the car. Realizing the significance of the staff, we see that his father, Henry King Sr, is none other than Brainwave. Suspicious of the return of Starman, Brainwave calls Icicle who tells him to do nothing. Brainwave goes to investigate and runs into Courtney. As a fight is about to ensue, Pat emerges in STRIPE, the robot armor suit. An all star cast with all star action, we discuss this on the Afterbuzz Aftershow and more. Stay tuned. The After show is hosted by Tehran Von Ghasri, Chae' Jones, and Alice Ford. On the heels of making a promise to Cristal to be a better person, Blake (Grant Show) teams up with Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) to go back to their old mischievous ways for a seemingly good cause. Heidi is taking Connor away from his new found family of Liam and Fallon, and they are not so happy. Fallon recruits the only person she knows is more devious and clever than herself, and an expert at taking children away from their mothers, her father Blake Carrington. Blake reluctantly agrees. The dynamic devious duo decides the best course of action is to investigate Heidi for any "skeletons" in her closet. When no skeletons are found, Fallon and Blake set Heidi up with having her innocently and unknowingly drive away in a stolen car. Meanwhile Cristal (Daniella Alonso) is not to happy with Blake's lack of turning a new leaf. Heidi (Emily Rudd) is not as innocent as she looks as she admits that Connor (John Jackson Hunter) is not Liam's son but his brother, a result of an affair she had with his father. Liam's mom knew the whole time and kept it a secret and Liam On the other side of Atlanta another robbery, Colby is in the hospital from the unexpected results of mixing alcohol with the drug he did not know was in his system. Alexis (Elaine Hendrix) once again guilts Adam (Sam Underwood) into helping and Adam is able to find an easily overlooked medical problem with Colby's liver meaning Colby (Sam Adegoke) needs a liver transplant. Problem is, Alexis admits to Colby that Adam drugged him again and Colby does not take the news well. Colby gives Adam an ultimatum, if he dies Adam's video confessional of poisoning him gets sent to the authorities. After an extensive search of family members DNA in the medical files turns out Adam is the only match for Colby's liver transplant, however given the circumstance of him having already donated a part of his liver to his adoptive mom Adam risks death if he donates again. The best idea is to remove the liver of a terminal patient who's faith forbids it. So Alexis and Adam plan a liver robbery but it is foiled by a morgue worker and a random visit by Cristal. Colby prepares for the end when Adam decides to donate after all. A robbery is exactly what happens when Sam (Rafael de La Fuente) gives Kirby (Maddison Brown ) a job at the hotel planning for Culhane's National Soccer event. When the commissioners rolex goes missing at the big party, Ramy who previously helped Sam rob the mansion and went to jail and showed up on his doorstep, is blamed. A search of Ramy's room reveals nothing good at first but he cant fool Sam. Sam doesnt embarrass Ramy in front of the Hotel and its guests but calls him out. Ramy asks for forgiveness and a second chance, Sam reluctantly agrees. Ramy wastes no time breaking his promise as he makes a copy of Sam's keys to the hotel. Kirby asks for the same from Culhane (Robert Christopher Riley), who is ready to get back to business as usual and even vouches for Kirby's job performance with Sam who offers her the permanent job. Another brief scene with Anders (Alan Dale) who has been suspiciously absent over the past couple episodes and we end with Liam's mom, Laura Van Kirk, making an offer Blake just cant refuse, the block of the sale of CA to Jeff Colby if Blake blocks Fallon's marriage to Liam. We discuss all this and more on this weeks Afterbuzz Aftershow.
