Today on the podcast our guest is Frank from Frank Does it. Frank Does It is primarily a media company, Frank doesn't focus on making commissions anymore. He recalls that the origins started all the way back in High School woodshop. Then Frank and his wife went nine years in their marriage without having an actual bed with a headboard and footboard vs. just a mattress and metal frame. Frank's wife really wanted a nice bed frame, so Frank looked into the cost and then thought, “I can make that.” Frank went and bought a miter-saw and some impact drivers and he fell back in love with woodworking.  Then Frank put some photos of the bed on Craigslist and got a ton of engagement. People wanted to commission him and he did that for a while, but he has a full-time job as a journeyman lineman with a wife and four kids so he is too busy for much commission work.  “I work scheduled 40 hours a week, but with power outages and anything like that, you know, I end up working a crazy amount. I have my wife and four kids, and I live busy.  I work 4/10's at my normal job, so I spend pretty much a full day, one day a week on that three-day weekend that I get in the shop. What everybody sees is what I do on that one day, and then I trickle it out throughout the week.” Frank Instagram: @therealfrankdoesit YouTube: Frank Does It

Today on the Toy Power Podcast, we’ve got new toys and TV to talk about! But sadly we are one-person short tonight – however Frank doesn’t sound too unhappy about that… There’s new product reveals from Mattel, NECA and Playmates (so, 2/3 of it is good) With new Masters coming soon, is the great cross-over of GeekDudes and Darren going to end up equalling a streak? The figures look great but there’s a problem… Mythic Legions are at it again with their Masters tributes and tongue twisting names. And the new TMNT LootCrate has been revealed – who’s in? (The answer might surprise you) Then Frank gets his chance to gush about the figures he’s been dreaming of for years – only he’s starting with Wave 2 of Super7s TMNT Ultimates. Which one was the surprise packet? Then it’s a movi…err TV review as we cover the finale of WandaVision. Big Spoilers exist in this pocket of the multiverse so be warned. Inside Vocal MajorityI Thank My Lucky StarsAmericans celebrate the Fourth of July every year, marking the founding of the United States. Usually an occasion for parades, parties, barbecues, concerts and fireworks, this most significant national holiday on the American calendar will be different this year. It may be quieter… with smaller gatherings…closer to home. But this doesn’t change the fact that Americans love this country and cherish our independence and freedom. On this day, we “thank our lucky stars to be living here today.” We also know that freedom isn’t free. Millions of men and women have put their life on the line to protect our freedom. So we thought you might like to meet some of the brave men of the Vocal Majority who served in different branches of our Armed Forces. In this episode, you’ll hear stories about the military  experiences of VM members Dave Huff, Clark Magee, Jim Patterson, Tony Stafford, Joe Frazier and Mike “MJ” Johnson. And of course the VM will sing a few of our favorite patriotic songs… The Star-Spangled Banner, Armed Forces Medley and God Bless the USA.A note about the production of this episode…longtime VM member/performer and historical contributor Frank Eastman traveled around the state of Texas during our time in quarantine and met (properly socially-distanced) and recorded the interviews you hear on this show. Then Frank and Nick Alexander, another longtime member/performer/show host and “voice” of the VM, edited the hours of interviews into this episode. The VM is extremely grateful for the efforts and dedication of these gentlemen. So Happy 4th of July everyone. We hope you enjoy hearing our stories and music. And we think you'll agree with us when we sing:“I thank my lucky stars...To be living here today,‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom...And they can’t take that away.”

Notes Jessica Jones Final Season. To start with we give a shout out to the See You Next Tuesday podcast, who are doing a men's health episode soon, John gives us an update on his health, and it's good news! We then toss the idea of having Haydn from See You Next Tuesday on as a guest near the end of summer.  As we go through the plot we talk about Jessica, and where she starts this season, as opposed to the beginning of last season. We also touch on Malcolm and Trish characters as well. We have some opposing perspectives on the characters this episode as we discuss the old and new characters introduced this season: Eric Gelden and Gregory Salinger, and give our thoughts on the villain this episode, and how he compares to the previous two seasons.  After our discussion on plot and character we dive into the themes of the season: Starting with “the ends justify the means”, which is most apparent in Trish's story arc as well as Jeri's. Then it’s “You're never a villain in your own story”, which is also the crux of Trish's story arc this season. But the serial killer Salinger also doesn't consider himself a bad individual, despite the murders he's committed in the pursuit of "truth". Then we talk a little about how Jessica seems to perceive herself through out the season, and the series. Which brings us to the last thought on themes: “That you can't give yourself the label of hero, it's given to you by others, and then you have to live up to it”.  John then elucidates his issues thoroughly about this season. Frank throws out some observations on the seasons treatment of LGBQT characters. Then Frank throws out some vain hope for the future on Disney+. Finally we wrap up with our final thoughts.  Quotes "This season, as much as I thought it was great, it's really, it's really shitty that this is where, where we end it." -John "I'm kinda ok with her dying alone and unloved." -John "In a lot of ways they are the most products of their time" -John Meta-Plot [Frank uses the reality ball to recreate SuperHero City, where all the residents constantly fight each other. They hide beneath the Big Bad Baddie Building where they discover, after a phone call with John's brothers dog, Wagner, that there's a tunnel that goes all the way to calculator city.] Credits Episode 109: Jessica Jones Final Produced by: Relevant to Our Interests  Hosts: John R. We then talk about the recent petition to remove Good Omens from Netflix and the hilarious comments that both Amazon and Netflix gave in response.  Then it’s video games! Frank gives a rambling response to his excitement about isometric RPG's being released on the consoles this fall. As well as several Action RPG’s and JRPG’s too. Frank then goes on about E3: He talks about the release dates for the Final Fantasy VII remake, as well as  current and upcoming releases for the Switch. Then we talk about the Switch port for The Witcher III and how we love having so many great ports on the go. John then talks about the indie games he's been playing on the Switch recently, while Frank suggests checking out Budget Gamer Youtube channels for indie game reviews. Frank then dives back into E3: including Nintendo's big announcement about the Breath of the Wild sequel. Then Frank talks briefly about the Xbox Scarlet and the next generation of consoles that will be coming out next year.  John talks about the Youtube channel Hugo and Jake, a channel that roasts Christian films and Chick Tracts. John recommends any of their Halloween episodes or their series on Jordan  Peterson's book. Then John talks about the Midsummer Night's Masquerade Ball that takes place Saturday night, June 29th (see the Anarchy Girls Facebook page for details. about the event). Finally Frank talks briefly about losing his dear dog Shasta. And then we talk about introducing the dog's in John's life into the meta-plot.  We're skipping John's Bad Advice this week, but send us your questions for it to: relevant2rinterests@gmail.com  Quotes: "I think they should show up in every show, in the second season." - John on the "Funky-town Punks" On the Meta-Plot: [Frank finds the Reality Ball, and discovers that the Space Ball is back in Robot City. Notes: Good Omens the Series is given our attention this week. First up John discusses the strength and weaknesses of the original authors: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet. Then Frank gives a very brief plot synopsis. We discuss the characters: John talks about Aziraphale's and Crowley's relationship, and we discuss how intimacy and friendships don't have to be a sexual element, and how some fans read that into this particular story. We then discuss their motivations for wanting to stay on earth and touch on the other characters, including the Narrator, the angel Gabriel, and the demon Hastur and the four horsemen. Then we discuss the subplot with Agnes Nutter's descendant Anathema Device and Newton Pulscifer and the Witchhunter Army. Then it's onto themes: the most obvious one being good versus evil. Frank then tries to make the case for Faith versus Science, and points out that the idea at least sets a tone for what the series is (and isn't). John discusses how the very fact that the characters, and specifically the Ant-Christ, Adam, being British helped guide the course of the story. We then talk about the environmental message of the series, which is most apparent through the Horseman Pollution and through the character of Anathema Device. Frank then talks about the Four Horsemen again, and brings up the ethnicity of each of them and how in some ways their calling is representative of where their ethnicity is from. John then talks about some more of the fun differences between the book and the series. We then wrap up with our final thoughts. Quotes: "We don't have words, or concepts to conceptualize how that relationship would function" - -John Metaplot [The portal John and Frank went through last episode led them to a plane where Shadette, leading an army of demons, and Ruger unwittingly leading an army of angels clash with Frank and John caught in the middle. They manage to survive, with no explanation as to how they did, or who won the battle.] Credits Episode 107: Good Omens Produced by: Relevant to Our Interests Hosts: John R. Then Frank, Trace and Carolina debate which foreign holiday food would be better for consumption: raw blubber and fermented birds (Greenland) or fried worms (South Africa)? In the “Mini Soda Review,” everyone samples Pelligrino Aranciata, a blood orange flavored beverage just not to Frank’s liking. The podcast gang also discusses a very special episode of the Revival League, our original black comedy, “Soylent Scrooge: Or Christmas Is Made Of People,” airing December 19. All this, and an Audrey II and a Stranger Things Demogorgon locking lips in a truly disturbing public display of affection, on this week’s episode of the Revival League Podcast! (This podcast does not represent Alternaversal, Shout Factory or the Kickstarter campaign in any official capacity). EDITOR’S NOTE: In June 2019, this podcast merged with the Damn Dirty Geeks Podcast and became The Damn Dirty Drive-in. These are our classic back catalog episodes, dating back to March 2016. Please enjoy! The new Drive-In podcast opens for business with original sketches, movie discussions, interviews, weird food tastings and more at Episode 168.

After Hours with Frosty, Heidi and Frank

Another amazing After Hours is in the bag. Heidi, Frank, and Smeez are all over the place- going from one topic to the next, like a comedy firestorm. First subject on today's After hours... the fancy shmancy Nog Lobster shirts. Do you want one? Too bad.... they're in limited supply! Then Frank brings up several "underwear" stories. The first, underwear made for people OVER 600 pounds. Wouldn't that just be a sheet? Next, Queen Elizabeth has a pair of underwear goin' up on the auction block. They're yellow, and kinda' bloomer-like! Sounds hot. And the last underwear story is much more serious. Apparently people in Ghana are being forced to purchase second hand undies. So the Ghana government has officially banned all sales of used underwear. Phew... crisis adverted. Other topics on today's After Hours: Spencer's Gifts, paper guitars, Herpes in oysters, and Heidi's secret desire to have sex with large black men. You really need to listen to the entire After Hours. For all this and more download today's podcast.
