С этих выступлений начался гастрольный тур The Prodigy в честь 25-летия их альбома "The Fat of the Land". Лид-синглом с него стала недавно выпущенная композиция "From the D2 the LBC", записанная на пару со Снуп Доггом (Snoop Dogg) и выпущенная в прошлом месяце. Альбом выйдет 5 августа на лейблах Shady Records/Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.

What IMDB has done for the movie industry is what Vibrate is doing for the music business.  How popular are you as an artist? Are your followers a good reflection on your success, or even your visibility? Is your album or touring success an accurate barometer of where your career is at? Vibrate helps with the analytics of it all. It provides the data to show you that a slightly lower fan base isn't such a bad thing if their engagement in your musical path is higher. Vasja Vebar who is the creator and co-found of Vibrate is an experienced music business professional with a background in marketing. After earning his Master's degree in economics, he co-founded a digital marketing agency and earned a senior partnership in an event management company. Courses → https://edmprod.com/courses This week, UMEK sat down to chat on the EDM Prodcast. UMEK is a techno producer/DJ from Ljubljana, Slovenia who has been a scene staple for nearly 3 decades. Over the years he has moved from the classic techno sound, through to tech house, and then back to techno with a distinctly dark and melodic sound. We dive into how moving genres and selling out was a bad move for his career, and that having a core fanbase is important. As a result, UMEK has side projects such as Zeta Reticula which allows him to explore other sounds without compromising his main project. We talk about how he almost exclusively uses software for UMEK tracks, and why he got rid of over 20 synthesizers in favor of synths like Serum. UMEK discusses his writing process and that he doesn't overthink the story behind a track - he just writes music that he thinks will sound good in his sets. He also describes how his DJ sets are a sprint rather than a marathon. Vasja Veber is the co-founder of music tech company Viberate. Vibrate has been building blockchain solutions for the music industry since 2017 and are positioning as market leaders in the music data sector. They have just entered the NFT space. Techno DJ UMEK is also a co-founder and is about to execute a live event NFT.  Guest: Vasja Veber Why you should listen: On April 29 Viberate co-founder and Techno producer UMEK will mint the first-ever live performance and live stream NFT. If the release is successful, Viberate plans to enable their half a million verified artists database to mint gig NFTs, secure future bookings, and create a new revenue stream.  Key takeaway: With this drop, UMEK aims to disrupt the live event industry, minting the first-ever live gig NFT and the first-ever livestream NFT, as well as minting three unique remixes of his track Lanicor.  During the pandemic, UMEK, like all touring artists, has resorted to live streams and online fan interaction. Still searching for new ways of expression and exploring the digital space, he wants to push the boundaries of NFTs and create something unique. With the live gig NFT, he aims to disrupt the booking industry and offer promoters and artists a safety net until events are up and running again. Live streams have proven they're here to stay. NFTs have the power to create a brand new market for them, offering musicians a new revenue stream and enabling fans to support and book their favorites. According to Statista, live music industry revenue in the United States is on track to reach 11.99 billion USD in 2021 (up from 9.28 billion USD in 2015). But what setbacks could stall this foreseen growth? One of the greatest challenges plaguing the live music industry is a lack of robust data, a problem that live music data company Viberate is perfectly positioned to solve. On the Viberate platform, entities are organized by event, festival, artist, venue, genre, subgenre, city, and country. Entities are crowdsourced with the help of over 20 thousand contributors, and each and every entry is then curated by a team of 70 full-time database curators. Viberate also taps into the API's of major ticket vendors, which provide tens of thousands of events daily (contributors can add events manually as well). Artist profiles are also rich with content and always up-to-date, since Viberate sources the content from entities' official sources and enrich the content with metadata. To date, the Viberate database includes 1/2 million artists, 1/2 million events, 150,000 venues, 5,000 festivals. But it's the success that it is delivering to artists that is the most impressive part of this startup story. But it's the success that it is delivering to artists that is the most impressive part of this startup story. Viberate Co-Founder and COO Vasja Veber joins me on the podcast to discuss how Viberate is solving a major pain point in the live music industry. Vasja tells me how "You can't develop anything using the current data in the live music business. It's just too unstructured. It's also hard to keep the information updated. Standardization is our only way forward." Viberate aims to standardize and map the entire global ecosystem for live music, becoming something akin to IMDb, a single, verified, and artist-approved source for music information. To accomplish this, the Ljubljana-based startup uses a carefully calibrated mix of crowdsourcing and curation, and blockchain, incentivizing contributors and supporting artist control of assets and information. "Blockchain has become the long-overdue catalyst for the music industry to update its policy and business models toward music-makers and to provide quick and seamless experiences for anyone involved in creating or interacting with music," notes Viberate advisor, blockchain advocate, and musical innovator Imogen Heap. "Anything that involves music-makers being independent and having space where they can reach out to anybody who wants to make business directly with them is a really positive thing." Vasja Veber explains how he and his team are doing for music what IMDb does for the movies.

On today's episode we'll be talking about the music: recorded music and concerts. 20 years ago, Napster and the MP3 crushed record labels and artist revenue. With Spotify, the revenue model is finally recovering (slightly). Still, iTunes, YouTube, Ticketmaster, and Live Nation control (monopolize?) the music and concert ticket industry. Smart contracts can hold music rights information to ensure that artists, songwriters, producers, and everyone involved in the creation of a musical work get paid out correctly and efficiently. Blockchain tech can help artists fund their projects. We discuss: RecordGram / TuneToken - a better system for royalty transparency for artists. SingularDTV - tokenized ecosystem for artists Viberate - smart contracts in the negotiation between musicians, booking agencies and event organizers Guts Tickets - an app for artists, venues, and fans
