Welcome Friends and thank you for connecting with us for an amazing episode of CWC! In today's episode, Paula and Donna meet up with the talented Carley Callaghan of Silverspark! Silverspark Bio: After a chance meeting in London, songwriters Carley Callaghan and Matt Phillips began their story. Within 6 months of meeting, they had quit their day jobs to take a leap of faith and build a career in music. Sacrificing many of life's comforts, they honed their craft performing covers at weddings and events to pay the bills and wrote their first song together backstage at a show. Those early songs, Carley's soulful voice and Matt's captivating guitar playing meant they quickly grew a loyal fan base and played at iconic circuit venues such as The Musician, The Jericho Tavern, and the O2 Academy. Radio support from regional BBC stations, and College Radio in the US, further cemented them as a band to watch. Just as momentum was building, SilverSpark faced some unexpected twists in the road, including COVID-19, which left them on hiatus.....until now. For Carley and Matt, the fire burns strong, and with a desire to get back to their roots as a duo. With their love of real instrumentation and evocative storytelling, the authenticity of country music has always been in their blood. Growing up, Matt was listening to REM, The Eagles, and The Rolling Stones, whilst Carley was singing Patsy Cline songs and had Shania Twain, Faith Hill and LeAnn Rimes on repeat. It's this rich melting pot of influences, including some of the greatest storytellers of all time, that inspire SilverSpark to take the listener on a journey. Whether it's one of heartbreak or redemption, hope or defiance, throughout their lyrics as in their daily lives, they always wear their hearts on their sleeves. 'The Last Time' is the first single in this new chapter; a powerful anthem for anyone who has seen the warning signs in a relationship and knows they need to escape before it's too late. Gig-pigger, where you been? You look so worn, so thin. To be fair, it was halfway through the Fringe when the pod that doesn't take the easy road, the easy road, bundled Chloe Petts, classiest glasser in town, into the Pleasance Cabaret Bar to find the silver linings in a chagrin heavy evening at the “hideous” O2 Academy. And before we even get to it - and its side helpings of Kasabian pits, Killers passwords and, obviously, G4 - there's a windy intro that truly is the sound of Keals and his disgrace. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their groundbreaking, Mercury Prize-winning debut album, An Awesome Wave, alt-J explore their early history together, over the course of the upcoming five episodes. In Episode 1, they return to their old university house in Leeds, known as Ash Grove after the street it's on. There, they revisit major moments from those days, from meeting on campus in 2007 while studying in various arts and literature classes together, to playing their first-ever show in the living room of Ash Grove, to writing and demoing songs like “Matilda” and “Breezeblocks” in the attic room upstairs, and more. They also give a walking tour of beloved local sites, including the legendary Brudenell Social Club and other regular haunts – a greasy spoon diner called Popina's, the Eldon, where Joe first took mushrooms, and the Library Bar, where they played frequently in those early days, in the lead-up to recording An Awesome Wave. *** In addition to celebrating An Awesome Wave with this podcast, alt-J have joined forces with premium social live media platform Moment for a worldwide digital performance, set for Wednesday, October 19 (North America/Europe/United Kingdom/Africa) and Thursday, October 20 (Australia/NZ & Asia). Recorded May 17, 2022 at Brixton, London's world famous O2 Academy, the concert sees alt-J performing An Awesome Wave in its entirety, joined on stage by Gwil Sainsbury for the band's first single, “Bloodflood,” as well as the album-closing epic, “Taro.” In addition, the ticketed event features an additional set showcasing greatest hits and fan favorites from alt-J's subsequent body of work, spanning 2014's This Is All Yours, 2017's Relaxer, and 2022's internationally acclaimed new album, The Dream. Tickets to the digital concert event – along with a limited edition line of official 10th anniversary An Awesome Wave merchandise – are available now HERE, exclusively via Moment. Ticket buyers will automatically get access to video-on-demand (VOD) upon purchase, allowing them to view the event for up until 24 hours after the end of the official streaming premiere. Fans who miss the premiere can still buy VOD up until three hours before the 24-hour VOD window closes, ensuring ample time to watch (or re-watch) the event.
С этих выступлений начался гастрольный тур The Prodigy в честь 25-летия их альбома "The Fat of the Land". Лид-синглом с него стала недавно выпущенная композиция "From the D2 the LBC", записанная на пару со Снуп Доггом (Snoop Dogg) и выпущенная в прошлом месяце. Альбом выйдет 5 августа на лейблах Shady Records/Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records.

Promotion is key in the live music industry. You've got the venue, you've booked the band, but how do you spread the word about your gig and sell tickets?Meet Dom Patience, the man responsible for bringing bands such as Gallows, Cancer Bats, Napalm Death and Hadouken to the UK's South Coast.Carving a career for himself as an independent promoter since the age of 16, Dom brings some of the hottest names in rock to the south's most loved grassroots music venues, such as Anvil Rock Bar Bournemouth, The Old Fire station, The Joiners in Southampton and The Loft. This year, many rock music fans watched as concerts and festivals were cancelled and the music industry was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. As someone who's job is solely in live music, Dom talks about how he was affected when tour cancellations started coming in thick and fast as the virus spread across Europe and countries started closing their borders. He tells us how he watched ticket sales for his shows drop to virtually nothing and explains different ways fans can support the music scene as things start to pick up again.Dom talks about the fight smaller music venues are currently having to survive and how the UK's Government could be doing more to support the sector, he gives his thoughts on bands being asked to take pay cuts to play shows and festivals next year and tells us which upcoming talent he's got his eye on and who he hopes to book the future.

Alberto Cereijo: guitarra solista. Fernando Calvo: guitarra rítmica. Charly Domínguez: bajo. Tino Mojón: batería Antiguos miembros: Javier Domínguez: batería Angel Barrio "Gelo": batería Alogo Mebuy "Hermes": guitarra solista. ✝2003✝ Ramón Costoya "Moncho": guitarra rítmica Carlos Costoya: batería Ángel Ruiz: guitarra Pepe Losada: guitarra Tony Vallés: guitarra Tino Canolas: batería Carlos Romero (Abuña): batería (1986-88)Escucha este episodio completo y accede a todo el contenido exclusivo de Biblioteca Del Metal (Recopilation). What’s great about Liverpool and Merseyside is that no matter who you support, whether Red or Blue, is that people stand together on the bigger, more important things than what happens out on the pitch.Yet another example of that is the special event taking place at the O2 Academy in the city centre on Friday night.Called Talk Tonight, it features some of the best bands and acts in Liverpool, and it’s been inspired by the death of big Liverpool supporters, Michael Woodburn and Neil ‘Yozza’ Hughes.84 men take their own lives per week in the UK, and the event aims to help break the stigma of mental health and suicide – as well as raising money for two very worthy local causes. For the podcast, Paul Wheelock speaks to one of the organisers of the event, Chris Tyrrell, and then Scouse footballer Kevin Ellison. The 39-year-old Morecambe forward opened up about his own mental health issues in the summer.Back then we interviewed Kevin for a special podcast to talk about why he went public on his eight-year battle with depression. And we picked up the phone to the boyhood Liverpool fan again this week to talk about the reaction to his initial posts on Twitter – and the fact that more and more footballers are coming out and talking about mental health. You can buy Talk Tonight tickets from www.seetickets.com. They cost £22.50 and all proceeds will go to Paul’s Place and James’ Place. And if you need mental health and suicide support, the NHS has compiled a list of free helplines, the details for which can be obtained at www.nhs.uk/conditions/suicide/ For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
Neil Fitzmaurice is back with his Poetry in Motion podcast and for the latest episode he is reunited with Joe Rimmer and joined by Kristian Walsh, who keeps his place after an impressive showing last time out.In contrast, Jurgen Klopp may have to ring the changes for Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield after a number of his players picked up injuries while playing for their countries. But the lads are confident Klopp now has the squad to cope and they ask, if he doesn’t, what does that say about his side’s title chances, particularly given the run of games they have coming up?A lot was made of Liverpool’s schedule before the international break but Fitzy and Co argue that, in many ways, this next set of fixtures could be the real litmus test.Ronald Koeman’s interesting comments about Virgil van Dijk are discussed before talk turns to another player who got injured during the international break, Naby Keita, and the reasons why the summer signing has so far been unable to live up to expectations.Gini Wijnaldum, however, is defying expectations, and after the panel lavish praise on the Dutchman, they explain why he has become such a key man, and question whether the fit-again Adam Lallana can do the same now that it appears opportunity knocks.Another brilliant podcast rounds off with (tentative) details of our next Blood Red Live and, more importantly, the Talk Tonight event that is taking place at the O2 Academy on Friday, November 2. South Shields band Far Pacific are set to rock the O2 Academy 2 in Newcastle on January 22 with their first headline gig. The indie four-piece are taking to the stage at the popular music venue to launch their debut EP I Can See The Sea. The teenage quartet are already making waves on the North East music scene with their brand of catchy indie rock music and their single Where Do We Go From Here gained high praise last summer. Despite being a fledging teenage band, Far Pacific, have worked hard to develop their sound and build a name for themselves on the local scene. The lads have gigged relentlessly, playing at venues such as O2 Academy, Head of Steam and Pop Recs, as well as supporting Lilliput at Independent in Sunderland and Belgian indie band Balthazar at Think Tank? in Newcastle.

Lisbon are set to release their second single from their forthcoming debut EP next month. The alt-pop four-piece hail from Whitley Bay and the costal town heavily influences their new single Natïve. Produced by Joe Atkinson and Jordan Riley at Newcastle’s Blast Studios, Native explodes with the energy of youth, bursting with colour and vibrancy. Lyrically, the song focuses on the desire to surpass expectation, venturing out of comfort zones in the search of success. The track has already been described as being ‘packed with pop hooks, glistening synthetic production and colossal ambition.’ Lisbon are known for their unforgettable guitar riffs, captivating choruses, and songs full of energy and had great success with their debut single BLUELOVE and second single Rio. To promote Native, Lisbon will be playing at Deep, in Whitley Bay on Thursday December 18. This will be the band’s first headline show since October, when they played the Riverside, after having been on tour with Eliza and the Bear and Saint Motel. Doors open at 8pm, tickets cost £5 and Street Party in Soho will be supporting them. If you can’t make that date, then they band will be playing at the O2 Academy, Newcastle on Saturday February 7. He’s been completely immersed in Dance culture for well over a decade now, a fact reflected by his ability to craft the kind of imaginative mixes only heard from the most dedicated record spinners. It’s this asset, combined with his notorious enthusiasm behind the decks that paved the way for his amalgamation into the team at Slide, one of Oxford & London’s foremost authorities on hosting House & Techno events. Throughout his involvement with the brand, he has been fortunate enough to play to sizeable crowds on a monthly basis at Oxford’s O2 Academy, and has warmed up for the likes of Nic Fanciulli, Adam Freeland, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, and Style Of Eye amongst many others. He’s also had the privilege of being chosen to warm up for Erol Alkan with Simple (Oxford’s flagship Dance promotion), invited for several guest spots on Oxford FM, and repeatedly booked for boat parties and the burgeoning Out To Graze Festival for 3 consecutive years alongside fellow turntable maestro Dave Johnys. It’s safe to say he’s been a busy lad, but he hasn’t limited himself to local events. Spreading his wings and delving into the turbulent London scene has thrown up some of the most memorable experiences, such as a particular booking at SeOne (during a Tidy vs. NuReligion hard-house event). Having the courage to stick to the music he believed in led to his set (B2B with good friend Chris Page) packing out an empty dancefloor, despite playing intelligent techno to a room full of day-glow ravers who had never heard anything like it. It’s gigs like this that have sparked his enthusiasm for DJing in London, and subsequently joining the team at Kai-Zen has provided Andy with a much larger podium to shout from. Despite 2011 being a quiet year with regards to club appearances, Andy has used the time to start getting to grips with music production, and the intricacies of Ableton Live 8. He’s the first to admit that he should have made a start on this a long time ago, but as is so often the case, life’s distractions have kept his attentions elsewhere. Regardless, 2011 was a significant year whereby his move into the complex world of music creation meant that he also took some time to consider the music he was supporting. Whilst Andy is always extremely vocal in his adoration of Chicago-House, Deep-House, and Progressive (or anything with a decent groove for that matter), he found that his tastes had slowly adapted to favour the more leftfield abstract Techno of such artists as Luke Abbott, Nathan Fake, Dominik Eulberg, and Caribou. With that in mind, he has made the conscious decision to start openly embracing this style of music (regardless of whether it leads to an incline or decrease in bookings), and base his sets on Techno for those with a more open mind to Dance music. With regards to influences, Andy would never profess to have a page-long list, but one DJ/Producer that does spring to mind again and again is James Holden. As his friends will testify, Andy’s love for all things Holden is boundless, mainly due to the forward-thinking nature of the music released on his Border Community imprint and the unparalleled approach Holden has to music. Following closely behind would have to be Nick Warren. His reason for influence stems from his respect for a man who still has an unmatched passion for pushing new and interesting music, despite being in the industry since year dot. As a proud member of the Electronica scene, Andy would hope that this ethos of never compromising music quality will serve him well as a DJ guideline, and that through this he’ll never be regarded as ‘just another DJ’.
