Young Bobby Brady (Mike Lookinland) has the gall to write a report on his hero Jesse James. Apparently, the school has something against custom motorcycles since the principal calls in Mr. & Mrs. Brady (Robert Reed, Florence Henderson) for a conference. The parents Brady are so concerned about Bobby's fascination with this long-dead old west outlaw that they stage an intervention of sorts and give Bobby a taste of his own medicine by watching a sanitized edited-for-TV movie about Jesse James. It backfires... badly. Only when grizzled prospector Jethroe Collins (Burt Mustin) comes a-callin' with a true story of Jesse James killing his paw with a shot to the back does Bobby change his tune.
