Topics: Jerry brings up clients that you need to be more up front with billing for your time so there is no confusion that can lead to an unpaid bill. He talks about one particular client that has aging hardware/software and they are scrambling for support. He tries to set expectations early. That rings a familiar bell for Joe who might be more inclined to start helping someone right away. With Sam’s monthly clients, he has formal paperwork that mentions “discovery”. Often times customers are more inclined to accept that if they know it will save them costs moving forward if you are already familiar with their environment. Jerry talks about smaller clients to possibly start small and move incrementally to earn some money up front. “Technical debt” is a term Joe coins from all of this. Realizing Joe may have missed an opportunity for calling out chargeable items, he realizes that he may need to get more comfortable onboarding a larger client. Sam talks about he learned from a similar situation. Jerry talks about a very strange problem his client who could not find any of her mail, her inbox was empty (and Time Machine wouldn’t work!) Joe remembers back when emails would disappear after updating to Catalina. The group discusses the many issues everyone has with mail and the recovery service. Tim Nyberg of The Mac Guys shared some feedback about using the mobile support feature of Splashtop which leads into a conversation about using it. He has a remote support feature on his website (themacguys.com) that helps you download the correct version of Splashtop. Sam has to break the news that he had to let go of a really nice office space.

With Sam off on official EquiRatings business, Nicole, Jenni and Diarm rehash an epic week at wild and crazy Boekelo, which certainly lived up to the hype. It was a Battle of the Tims as Dutch favorite Tim Lips faced off with Tim Price for the win. While the Kiwi took first prize, the other Tim claimed the Dutch National Championship and the hearts of many in a class performance on home soil. And there were many more performances to celebrate, like Liz Halliday-Sharp and the exciting 9-year-old Deniro Z leading the way for Team USA in his CCI3* debut. Chris Burton proved once again that he is the undisputed speed king as the only rider in the field to make the time aboard Cooley Lands. And, of course, Diarm can't let the girls forget that he picked Cekatinka to win.

What Happened Last Time?: Frodo, Pippin, Merry, Sam, and Fatty Bolger have finally met up in Frodo’s new house at Crickhollow. After a bath, and some supper, the friends talk about what has happened on their journey through the Shire. Frodo, though reluctant, is finally put on the point of telling his friends that he is leaving the Shire altogether, but, as it turns out, he doesn’t have to because they already know a good deal of the story themselves. With Sam gathering information the friends have helped Frodo by conspiring to help him on his journey toward Rivendell. With final preparations in order, a quick night’s sleep is all that separates these Hobbits from their adventure into the Old Forest and beyond. Where Are We in the Narrative?: Frodo has finally made it to his home at Crickhollow in his attempt to disguise his departure from the Shire, his mission to take the Ring to Rivendell is about to start. His friends have conspired to help him, which is very welcome to Frodo especially as Gandalf is still conspicuously missing!
