Helping women grow their online brand through photos that connect with their ideal client.
Today we are talking about our next C, which is: Cost. Have you ever gotten a DM or email that has no introduction or anything and just says, “What does it cost?” That can be super tricky. Because they are usually asking about the price. However, there are many costs associated with your product or service that are going into a person's mind when they are determining whether or not to give you their money. So hold that thought while I remind you of something. Let's talk very briefly about money in general. Money, in the actual paper sense doesn't hold any real value until we give it value, right? It's honestly just a piece of paper. And now with venmo and paypal and apple cash, we've actually eliminated physical products too. But what gives it value? And who determines it? Of course, we have centuries of social constructs telling us the value of money, and we can also comprehend that the value of money can fluctuate (hello inflation), but if we break it down to it's basics, money only has the value that you are willing to give it. Let me say that again, “Money only has the value that you are willing to give it.” And when you are asking someone to make a transaction with you, you are actually exchanging value. If you have an apple and I have 25 cents and I go to buy that apple, what is happening is that I value the apple more than I value my 25 cents. And the store owner, or whoever has the apple values the 25 cents more than the apple, and so a transaction occurs. Get it? So I want you to remember that. When someone is asking you about the price of your product, they are constantly evaluating the value of the product you are providing. So when I talk about COST, in this context, it isn't just the price of your product or service. When you are coming from your customer's point of view, the COST is more than just the price, it's everything that goes into making a value exchange decision. It could be the cost of their time to implement your product. It could be the cost of brain power to understand how to use your product. It could also include the cost of them understanding how beneficial a product is or not.I know this may sound a little nebulous, but I want you to start thinking like your customer. What additional costs are associated with your product and how can you make that easier for the customer to want to make a transaction with you?I don't know if you've ever seen an advertisement for a crazy deal on flights. Sometimes I'll get a random email or ad that says, “$29 round trip airfare.” Sounds like a crazy good deal right? I mean, if I were to say, “What does that cost?” You could technically say, well it costs $29. But is that true? As a customer, no…it's not just $29. And I'm not just talking about the additional taxes and fees or expenses related to going on a trip, but I'm talking about all of the other costs associated with this offer. Usually the offer is only good within a certain time frame or only to certain cities. Do I honestly want to go to Cincinnati in January? Probably not. Do you see the costs that are going through my brain as a customer? Your potential customers are doing the same thing. They are unconsciously and consciously evaluating the cost…with a Capital C to determine if it's worth the value exchange for them.If you are struggling to sell something that is just SO amazing, then think about all of the tangible and intangible costs that your customer faces when deciding if it's right for them to hand over some cold hard cash.Once you have that information, THEN you can take action and do something about it. It could be creating more awareness, making it easier for them to have access, or educating them better on hJoin The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" My graduate school classes are filled with people from a million different backgrounds, and some of them don't have any experience in marketing. This may be what you are feeling like. You own a business, you want to grow, you love what you do, but you don't necessarily love marketing. That's okay. It can seem like a big scary thing, but here's the thing-We are all marketers!Everything you do, from the products you create, to the reels you're dancing in, to the emails you send, to how to tell other people about your services….that is all marketing. And understand the foundation of marketing is key for your business growth. It's our number one job to take care of our customers or consumers. I will use those words interchangeably, but for the purpose of this episode, we are going to just think of our customer or consumer or audience as all the same people….someone who will give us money in exchange for what we are offering. The 4 C's that we are going to be learning about are:1) Customer's wants and needs2) Cost3) Convenience4) CommunicationI had a great conversation with an entrepreneur this week who has an amazing product. It's a digital CPA service that helps you get strategic about what to do with your business finances rather than just trying things out, handing your books over to an accountant, and paying your taxes. The problem was that this client didn't know who their customers were! And because of this they couldn't move forward with anything else in their business. Sometimes it's easy to say that your consumer is a mom or a teenage boy or an athlete or a foodie. But that's not good enough. A great marketer always digs deeper. And when you think you've dug far enough, that's a sign that you need to go even deeper. You need to be constantly trying to understand your customers more. Many times you may come up with an amazing product, but have no one to sell it to. Instead, I would suggest that you focus on your target customer and create a product or offer that fills the void in their life. When you understand your customer, it becomes so much easier to create a product that they will want. Of course, if you've already created a product, that's fine. It's a great way to test your audience. If they are buying it, or if they love it, you know you've hit a home run. If you are hearing crickets, that may be a signal that you created something that doesn't resonate with their needs. Don't worry, it's all about testing. Testing your product or audience is fine, but I find that it's easier to learn as much as you can about your customer first and then create something amazing that will make their life better. How to learn more about your customer?Ask them? This seems simple and hard at the same time. But speaking directly to your ideal customer is incredibly valuable. This can look like sending out an email poll, or a questionnaire on your IG stories. You can even call up some of your clients and ask them if you can chat with them. This is called getting customer insights and all of the best companies do it. ALL.THE.TIME. Even long standing brands, like Hershey or LL Bean are doing this every single day. Why do you think they are still in business? It's because they are in love with their customers and know that people are shifting their thoughts and beliefs all the time. So talk to your customers. Get them on a phone call. Take them out to lunch. Get the conversation going. www.britbennion.com/122Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Join Brand Builder's Bootcamp TODAY!
Megan Pyrah is a mom who loves sharing how to make money at home. Especially helping you to keep it simple, easy and FUN! She helps you take the confusion out of social media and use it to BUILD and benefit your business.Megan knew she wanted to be a stay at home mom, but also wanted to contribute to her family income, so she began learning about running a business from home. She has made over a million dollars in sales and even has her children running their own companies. It's a family affair and she's done it all from home with the help of social media.Megan says that one of the biggest questions we face as content creators is, "I don't know what to create!""It's a huge stopping point. So you throw up your hands, and walk away.""BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO REINVENT THE WHEEL!"Let's keep it simple. Let's reuse our content. What does that look like?Take something and talk about it again and again. Whether it's what you're selling or an offer to make or a solution you have - make sure you are talking about the same thing. When you are jumping from subject to subject, your audience doesn't know why they should follow you. If you feel like you've talked about the same thing over and over again, try to find a different way to talk about it. Remember:Your audience may have missed it the first time.Someone may have just started following you. You may have created amazing content that needs to be shared again.3. Your content will hit your audience differently each time—experiment with using the same content but switch up something simple, like the hook.4. Use what's working well and freshen it up. Can you use it on a different platform? Or mix up the video shots? Can you change the colors and use the same quote?5. Use third-party apps to help you schedule and repurpose your content."Don't be afraid if someone sees your content twice," Megan says. "They are going to see it twice. We want them to see it twice. In fact, we want them to see it a million times!"Megan understand the power of getting out of your own way because many times we are stuck in the beginning. Want to know how we get more female voices "on the stage"? It doesn't start with a mindset shift, it starts with a financial shift. Here are my thoughts on that.Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Join Brand Builder's Bootcamp TODAY!
When Kylee Ann began investing in herself and business, everything changed. And for the better. She understood that she wanted more and that the fastest and simplest way to get there was by investing in herself and business. She says that one of the hardest things we do as women and moms is to decide to think of our "hobby" as a business. "We get in our heads like, oh, we don't want to invest a lot of money into this. We don't want to invest a lot of time for this. This is just a side thing. We just want it to like bring in a lot of money without a lot of effort."But as soon as you can change your mindset from hobby to business, everything else will be so much easier for you."When you think of your offer and what you are selling as a hobby, you don't want to spend too much money. However, if you think of the same thing as a business, it gets easier to understand that the money you are spending is an investment (with an expected return). Kylee says as soon as you can switch your mindset to think of the money you spend on your business as an investment, "I promise those after those years, it comes back like tenfold and it's great."And there's multiple ways in which you can invest in your business - it can be in the physical tools or products that you're using. It can also be in education or hiring help. So where do we start investing in ourselves?"When I first started, I was really good at investing in conferences and I was really good at investing my time in learning things, but my mindset stuff didn't catch up for years later."And my business didn't scale until I invested in the mindset stuff. You could have every single tool in the world, but if you don't believe that you can do it, you're not going to."Kylee says that shifting your limiting beliefs is a huge step in moving forward in your life and business. It's also a skill that we aren't born with, so we have to spend time to develop those skills.Everything starts in your brain."You have to get your mindset right. If you can grasp the part that you literally have the power to do anything, and your mind is so powerful, then the investments that you make are that much more valuable," says Kylee. You can learn all of the tools of marketing or business, but if your mind isn't in the right place, you will not move forward using those tools correctly. "As soon as I learned these mindset tools, I really started building a business around what I wanted out of life....my dream business."Once you have all of this information, trusting yourself to sort through it. And that's how you're gonna be able to grow the business that you love and find the success that you define for yourself. Kylee says the last key is that you can't do thiss alone. Having a coach or guidance is key to keeping your mindset in the right place and you action on track. "I think as women, we just feel like we need to do it all, but we forget a regular business has a manager, and shippers for warehouses. They have a social media person, they have someone in the front greeting people. They have all these things. And we, as women think we need to do everything ourselves and we need to just know these things and we just need to learn these things on our own, but nobody in real life is doing that. Every successful business has a team and support."Learn more and connect with Kylee here.Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Join Brand Builder's Bootcamp TODAY!

Have you heard the rumblings? People are stressing out about whispers (and shouts) of an impending recession. What will this do for you or for your business? How will you grow or even make ends meet? These are difficult questions to ponder on. I've had a number of people in my world speak on this exact topic. From mastermind groups to daily emails, podcasts and more. There's a general trend of people in the online space that are feeling fearful. Because things are a little bit rocky in our economy. Sales are down across the board and people are starting to stress out. Whether you are reading the news or listening to people of influence saying that there's been a slowdown for their business, don't let this strike fear into your heart. Here's the bottom line. When it comes to your business, do not get stuck in the downward cycle of scarcity. Push pause on that rhetoric. You can choose to believe that your business will be deeply affected by a recession or you can choose to be open to the possibilities that the future will bring you. This is the difference between an abundant marketing mindset vs a scarcity marketing mindset. We get to think and decide how we want to react to any situation in our business. That's the beauty of being an entrepreneur. The beauty of being able to have your own business. You get to choose how you want to think about it and the actions you wanna take in relation to what's going on.Ask yourself: Are my thoughts and energy being scarce or abundant?Because whatever the answer is, you are right. If you are having scarcity thoughts, you will see scarcity in your business. If you are having abundant thoughts, you will see abundance in your business. How does this work?Listen to the episode www.britbennion.com/116 for all the details.Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Join Brand Builder's Bootcamp TODAY!

She created her successful life coaching practice while parenting three teenagers, teaching special education full-time, supporting her husband in his demanding career, and serving as the President of her Church's Women's Organization. Ceri works with creative entrepreneurs, many of whom have ADHD, helping them streamline their priorities and goals while simplifying their business, and schedules so that they have time and mental energy to continue to grow their successful business, strengthen family relationships, and have time for themselves.Lead with our strengths in all areas of lifeWhen your strengths become stronger, then we are able to develop in areas in which we are weaker so we can now develop that. Doing the things that are strengths for us is the best way to do more of what we're good at and will build our confidence. The more you lead with your strengths the faster your business and confidence will grow? How do you know what strengths you have to use?We all have talents, but sometimes it may take a while to figure out what you have. You can start out by just believing that you have them. Ask yourself these questions:What do I enjoy doing? What do other people say that I'm good at?What do I get complimented on?What is something that I can easily do for hours? What is something I enjoy learning about? What comes easily to me?If I had to talk to a group of people for 30 minutes, what would I talk about? The answers to these questions will help you know what actions and what topics you like. They will also help you to understand what feeling you like to have when using those strengths.Don't confuse inexperience with weakness. One of today's biggest challenges is to perform well right now and not be willing to fail. We can develop a new strength if we give ourselves the space to grow. Don't let fear stop you. You can be scared to do something, but still work on it and develop it into a strength. Hire Out or Do WithoutIf you are able to hire out some part of your life then it frees up time to do more of what you love. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're paying someone to do something, but rather that you assign someone else to take on that task or you perform a trade. This allows you to do more of what you love and less of what you don't enjoy. When we look at spending money as an exchange to do more of what we love, that's empowering. Also, recognize what the “needle movers” are in your business. What are the things that are making you grow and do more of that. So many times we focus on things that we think we “have” to do, but they aren't helping us. Those are the things we can do without. You could take all of the business courses, tips, and tricks to be successful, but if you don't believe in yourself, those things will be of no value to you. Build your confidence and recognize the value of believing in yourself. It will make all the difference in what you are learning. If we are growing a business or doing something different that we've never done before…What if we just expected that we could learn what we didn't know?It isn't because you are talented that you can succeed. It's that you have the ability to believe in yourself. Connect with Ceri at www.britbennion.com/115Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Lisa says that growing beyond your audience is vital to the life of your business.Clients will say, "I feel like I'm constantly creating content for social media, but I'm not seeing it convert. I'm not getting more sales. I feel like I'm doing things over and over on this hamster wheel."Lisa tells them, "There is a huge difference between content and visibility content. It is so important that we're showing up, that our audience can get to know us, but we have to remember that content is only seen by the people who already follow us."Our content nurtures the people who are already there, but a visibility strategy will help us to grow and bring more people into our ecosystem.HOW CAN YOU GROW YOUR AUDIENCE?Lisa says that you can grow your audience using paid ads, but that can get expensive very quickly. Instead of worrying about FB/IG ads, you can get your name out there and be more visible by borrowing other people's audiences. This is called "earned media". Lisa says this essentially, "leverages other people's platforms showing up with value so that you can get access to their audience. Many entrepreneurs aren't utilizing earned media. But this is one of the fastest and least expensive ways to grow your audience. Earned media can be something as simple as guesting on someone's podcast or in a group, writing an article or going live with another contemporary in your field.WHAT STEPS CAN I TAKE TO GROW MY AUDIENCE?ABC's of Audience GrowthA: Awareness - Get in front of the person who has the ability to hand over their credit card.B: Build Buzz - Get a lot of people talking about you and your launch, product, upcoming offer, service. Want to know more about the dark side of personal branding? What about the ways in which you might be ruining your personal brand? Here are 5 ways you may be ruining your personal brand.Maybe you are doing some of these things and don't realize they are actually hurting your brand. Jump on in and see how you can stop doing this and start seeing results. You Don't Have a StrategyEvery successful brand you see has a strategy. No one is just crossing their fingers that the things they are doing in business are just going to work. Even if we allowed for some serendipitous moments in our business, that's really not a long term strategy.Every business that is growing has a strategy behind it. They have systems in place that get their future clients to start thinking about their problems differently and showing them that perhaps their company has the solution. They are coming up with ways to engage and serve their current clients at a higher level. With different offerings and ways to work with them. All of this is a strategy. All of the content and marketing that they are doing has a purpose. Posting everyday is not a strategy. If you are not leading your audience along on a journey, if you are just posting for posting's sake, that's going to make your business run in circles and get you nowhere. If you do not have a clear understanding of the what and why behind the content you're creating, you are not going to get to where you want to go. The simpler your strategy is, the better. Make sure to understand and be intentional with the content you are creating in order to help convert your audience from passive listeners to active customers. You Don't Know Your AudienceIf you are speaking to everyone, no one is going to listen. I absolutely love working with my one on one clients to get down to the core of who their audience is. Everytime we are able to go just a little bit deeper. Sometimes you think that you know your audience, but if you're not getting feedback from people saying that they are loving your content, then you aren't getting specific enough with your audience. You can always, always go deeper in understanding who it is that you are trying to serve and speak to.When you know your audience, everything in your business changes. You can then cater your offers to them, speak to them on a whole new level, create content that turns them into raving fans and more! You Are Confusing Your CustomersIf I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times….a confused client doesn't buy.Confusion on the simplest level can really hurt your brand. Which is why I teach you how to have brand consistency in your content and visuals in my online course, Brand Builder's Bootcamp. If you're constantly confusing your audience by not being consistent with your message and visuals they will seek out a more clear and consistent brand. You Are Copying Other PeopleThis can show up in a few different ways. The first is that you are copying someone else's content and posting it directly on your page. Even if you have permission and/or give credit to them, this is not helping your business. It is setting them up as the brand authority and taking that authority away from you. Another way is copying other people's ideas or content and presenting it as your own. Not only is this in bad taste, but it's taking away your power and your authority in the field. Content is no longer king, original content is. So trust yourself, step into power and create your own original content out of your own origiJoin The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Join Brand Builder's Bootcamp TODAY!
Understanding your customer journey is key to growing your business and making more sales. But do you understand what stage your general audience is in? And how can you move them along faster? There are 5 levels of brand recognition to understand in order to be intentional with your content creation. Think of these levels as a ladder to scale climbing upwards. Brand RejectionThe lowest level of brand recognition is where people not only don't recognize you but they flat out reject you. This is where people have some sort of negative associations with your brand - they're 100% trying to avoid your company. Perhaps this is caused by a bad experience or bad press. Either way, you don't want to be on this level with your audience. Brand Non-RecognitionBrand non-recognition is where you are just another face in a crowd and no one knows about you. People don't recognize your brand or understand anything about it. Therefore they cannot take action with you. If you are not gaining traction in your business, perhaps you are stuck on this level. I teach in Brand Builder's Bootcamp how to move out of this level so that you can be seen and heard. This is where branding starts to shine!Transitioning from brand non-recognition to brand recognition is a huge step that comes through consistency, repeating your core messages, and your visual brand elements.Brand RecognitionThis level is where customers are actually recognizing you. They recognize your brand. They can differentiate you from your competition. At this stage you know what makes you different, you know what sets you apart, and you are able to convey that confidently and consistently in your messaging and your content.Brand PreferenceThe next level of brand recognition is brand preference. This is where your audience actively chooses you and your offers over the competition. This is where you're no longer competing on price, but rather the unique offer you have. This comes from having great systems and processes in place - excellent customer service, and results that other people can see.Brand LoyaltyThe final level of brand recognition is brand loyalty. This is where your audience keeps coming back to your brand no matter what - even if they've had a bad experience with you. They love you so much they are willing to forgive your mistakes. You may not be perfect, but you've created a fanbase. These are your super fans. This is the ultimate level that we want to take our people to when it comes to brand recognition. This stage shows you are really honed in on the needs and wants of your audience and you can deliver results time and time again. Check out the episode to learn more about what to do in each of these levels in your business.Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Click Here to Leave A Review

You want your product to be relatable so people can see that it will serve them in their lives. The driving factor of comedy is relatability. When you are able to bring comedy into your content, you are able to be a little more vulnerable which allows you to double down on that connection and relatability.Your content should do one of three things:EducateInspireEntertainWhen you use comedy in your content, you can easily hit all three of these targets. What if you are fearful of adding comedy in your brand?Sometimes as women, we are much more aware of how people perceive us in business. We are fighting to balance fun and professionalism and it can feel very vulnerable. “When using comedy,” Shelby says, “you really have to let your guard down. You have to climb over that wall. You have to be vulnerable to show that you're not perfect. That you don't have it all together and that you make mistakes too.”“But when you can laugh with someone, that's the biggest bonding factor there is.”Kristina says, “You should push yourself! Take that creative risk, because there is such a payoff when you go outside of the box.” She says that it can actually help your audience to respect you more because you are being so creative. How to start using comedy videos in your brand?Listen. Understand your audience. What are their needs? What problems do they have?Brainstorm. Get all of your ideas out. Nothing is off the table.Plan. Script it out. What tools are you going to use? What's your budget? Who, what, when, where will you create this?Create. Record and put everything into action. Actually do the thing!Edit. As a business coach, podcaster, speaker, and founder and CEO of Michelle Gifford Creative, she guides women through creating and maintaining a business that lasts through creative content and online strategy. Her agency, Michelle Gifford Creative, cultivates brand strategies and content for influencers and creatives. A mom to five, she and her husband are raising their family in Southern California.Michelle is passionate about working with women and helping them grow their businesses. One of the bigggest struggles that she sees women face is that they don't take themselves as seriously as they should. Even working with big brands, Michelle sees that many women can feel scared. "They're scared to put themselves out there and they also don't consider themselves a business. They don't treat themselves like a business and there's a mindset shift that has to be made by women at some point. It happens individually."We're so afraid that people are going to find out that we're starting a business and that's not what 'moms' do. But I'm a happier mom because I have."Michelle says that one of the first big decisions she made while establishing herself as a brand was to hire a personal branding photographer. That's one way that she knew she could take herself and her business more seriously. She wanted to show up differently and in a very professional manner, so hiring a brand photographer was at the top of her list.1. Knowing that you have a brand and what the elements of it helps you to become instantly recognizable.2. Create a brand message that aligns with your branding elements.3. A brand mentor of mine once said “You're doing your audience a favor by repeating yourself.” What does it mean to repurpose content? It's really the practice of determining your best performing content and recycling and reusing it. I'm not saying that you should copy and paste the exact same content every single day. Instead, focus on what is working, what is resonating with your audience and create more of that type of content. Why should you repurpose your content?SimplerWhy work harder when you can work smarter? This is 100% true. When you are repurposing content, it makes everything so much simpler. You're able to really focus on a few main topics or points in your business that you want your clients to understand and can create to just those simple things. This is really where you get off of that hampster wheel of content creation. Easier to UnderstandToo much new content for your audience can be overwhelming. It's like drinking water from a firehose. You don't want to drown your audience. However, if you keep repeating the critical things they need to know, they'll actually start to grasp these concepts.Stand out as a brand authorityRepeating your message and repurposing your content helps you to stand out as brand authority. People will come to you when they want to know or learn something. If you're selling a coaching package and talk about something new every single day, you'll have lost your audience. However, if you focus on a very specific niche then you will stand out as the authority in your field. You will be the one that others will recommend when their friend or co-worker or family members needs to hear your message. Not everyone sees your content the first, second, third, or fourth timeMost people, including the people who have actively chosen to follow you will not see everything that you post. In fact, industry average is that only 3-10% of your audience will actually see your content at any given time. That means that not everyone sees your content the first time, or the second time, or the third time, or even the fourth time.If that's the case, then repurposing is not only good for you, your workload and mental health, but it's also a fantastic practice for your audience. They want to hear from you. So repurpose your content and message in a number of different ways so that they can get that message. By not repurposing your content and message you are leaving opportunities and money on the table.Reach New AudiencesYour audience is always growing. You have new people coming into your circle every day. Don't just give out your best information once and call it good. Your new audience will be missing out. When you repurpose your content you are allowing your new audiences the opportunity to learn all of the amazing things about you and your offer. Always keep in mind both your current and new audiences. Repurposing your content means that it's not only getting reinforced in the minds of those who already know you, but it's introducing that content to your new audience. How to repurpose content?Listen to the episode for all the details. The next time you're wondering what to post, focus on repurposing your content. This practice makes your content creation:SimplerEasier to UnderstandAllows you to stand out as brand authorityHelps your audience to actually see your contentAnd educates new audiences while supporting your current audience. Are you creating content on a regular basis for your business? How many days a week do you post? Do you enjoy creating content for your business or dread it? Do you know if your content is making a difference in your business or are you jus creating content for content creation's sake? How would it feel to easily create content that actually works for your business? What if you could cut down the time it takes to create content? What would it mean if you never had to worry about what to post again? How would it feel to stop being overwhelmed with content creation and actually have time to devote to doing the parts of your business that you actually love?I know that these are questions and thoughts you are having because at some point in time, all entrepreneurs have these thoughts. When content creation becomes a rat race and you feel an overwhelming pressure to create content, business doesn't always feel as enjoyable as it once did. Content marketing is a way to nurture your community and show up regularly to build connection with them. That way, when you open doors to your next launch, or offer a new product, you'll already have an engaged audience that knows, likes, and trusts you. This is the backbone of content marketing.Showing up consistently doesn't mean you have to post every single day. Consistency just means showing up in the same place, regularly, and with consistently good content. It means showing up in the same style, with the same tone of voice, so that your audience isn't left guessing what you'll do next. This is what I talk about regularly when it comes to understanding and building your brand. You create brand awareness and consistency through everything you put out into the world. It's not just your colors, fonts, and logo. It's consistency in showing up to build that trust and not leaving your audience confused.Which is why I created The Content Collective. To help takeaway the question of “What do I post today?” and take the overwhelm out of content creation. The Content Collective is a monthly call that's part accountability group, part co-working session and part coaching. Personal styling is everything that embodies the external representation of who we are. Not just what clothing we wear. It encapsulates their energy, their body language, the confidence you feel within your style.Your personal style translates over video and photos. Which is why it's so important to understand your personal style in your brand. This doesn't mean that you have to be wearing the latest “it” item, wearing designer clothing or chasing trends. What understanding your personal style means is that you are drawing in a community of people that relate to and understand who you are. Prioritizing your style also helps you see a future version of yourself. Ask yourself: “Am I embodying the person that I want to be seen as? And am I doing that intentionally?”Jordan shares more important questions to think on:Are you choosing how you want to be seen as? Is it in alignment with what you're trying to represent?Do you feel like yourself in the way that you're being represented?Authenticity is important with your personal style, so how do you reconcile being authentic and showing up as the best future version of yourself? Jordan says to think of your “Badass Alter Ego Self.”If you haven't quite figured out your personal styling yet, you can start off by thinking of what it would be like to embody that badass alter ego persona. If you had everything figured out, what does she look like? How does she present herself? How could I understand her? How is she dressing? What makes sense to her? When you can separate the two - where you are now and where you want your future self to be, you can start to embody who you want to become while staying true and authentic to yourself.Personal styling and personal branding is a transformative experience. If we want to be, do, have something different, then we have to do something different. You can build confidence in your personal styling just by trying. There are 3 key steps to get started.Determine your message. Think of personality and style adjectives. For example: “I want to be seen as approachable and relatable with some feminine infusion.” When you are building your personal style, always assess your decisions against these adjectives and ask yourself if they align.Build the visual. Create a visual representation of what style you are attracted to. Start with Pinterest and find out what you are drawn to. Pin more and more. When we see repetition, that's when we know something is speaking to us.Recreate what you see and experience. Take the visuals that you've built and try to recreate it with what you own. See your clothes in new ways and see if it feels authentic. Do this with your own closet before you ever step into a store. When you experiment first, you'll have a better idea of what you may need when you shop.Styling is not superficial. It's an extension of your body and who you are. Be an anthropologist to your own self and discover what lights you up and is authentic to yourself. This should feel very fun because there's no wrong way to style yourself. You just need to start.Connect with Jordan and learn more here.Join The Content CollectiveThe answer behind: "What do I post today?" Click Here to Leave A Review
WHAT IF YOU COULD...
Hunter is a business mentor for the beauty industry teaching independent service providers how to set boundaries by automating and elevating their client experience. He loves spilling all the tea about creating systems that hold you accountable to boundaries so you can reclaim time, freedom and energy back from your business as an entrepreneur.Hunter's expertise extends beyond the beauty industry. Anyone can learn and implement the techniques that he teaches.Hunter teaches that as an entrepreneur, we juggle a lot of different responsibilities to keep our business performing at the caliber that we want. And the only way to do this is to have 3 key ingredients:1. BoundariesHunter says that by setting boundaries we are better able to take care of ourselves. Instead of always hustling and working 24/7, if we set boundaries to make sure we aren't burnt out, we can better serve our clients. Hunter's favorite message is: “You cannot fill from an empty cup.” Yes, there is a time and place for “short term sacrifice for long term gain,” but that isn't a sustainable business practice.2. Systems/AutomationsOne of the best ways to grow is to implement technology to help with systems and automations in our business. Hunter says to not be afraid of technology or thinking that your client experience will be lessened because of it.If Fortune 500 companies utilize systems and automations, you'd better believe that it will boost your business to do so too!“Technology allows us to serve our clients better.” Whether that's helping you keep your boundaries, communicate in a faster way, or give you the time freedom you desire, taking the time to set up automations is well worth it.Systems compliment the boundaries you set in your business.3. Amazing Client ExperienceWhen you have systems in place, it makes the experience for your clients amazing. No longer are they confused about how to work with you, book an appointment, contact you, etc. The systems you have in place make the experience with you worthwhile. And doing that will make you stand out in your industry. All customers want to feel like they are being taken care of and by focusing on your boundaries and systems, your client experience will be one to remember.Listen to the full episode to learn more about the types of boundaries and systems you can put into place and how Hunter was able to uplevel his customer's experience and stand out from his competitors. I know that as an entrepreneur you are also a content creator. Whether it's a podcast or blog post or pinterest pins or instagram reels or TikToks or LinkedIn articles…the list goes on and on, I see that you are on that hamster wheel of content creation. So take a page out of my notebook and these lessons that I've learned.1) Keep your mind in the GainLook back at where you started and where you are now. Let that be your motivation and your support to know that you can and will get better - that this will get easier. That you've been able to serve your audience and that will only have a snowball effect as you continue to show up in your business online.2) Have a guideIf you are listening to my podcast, I hope that you see me as your guide. It is such an honor to have you here and I will never take that for granted. Every listen, every email or review or DM I get makes my heart flutter. Because I want you to grow and thrive and know that you can ask me questions and learn something new each day. 3) Lean on your communityHaving a supportive community is foundational. It doesn't even have to be in person. I have the most amazing support group and they all live far away from me! Some are in different countries, some I've never even met. And some I've known for months or years and they know exactly what I'm working on in my business on a week to week basis. 4) Do the workIt's hard sometimes, and I completely sympathize with you. Long hours, late nights, early mornings and sometimes it feels like you have nothing to show for it. But keep going. If you have a guide, like we talked about before, it makes doing the work faster because you can follow their process. If you have a community, it makes doing the work easier because you get feedback or support. See how that builds on each other?5) Be okay to start at the beginningStart. Just start. Start somewhere. Start messy. Start under a pile of blankets. Start with less than stellar audio or graphics or the perfect color pallet. Getting started is the only way to get where you want to go. Remember, you can't get to episode 100 if you didn't create episode 1. So stop daydreaming about where you want your business to be in 5 years. Stop sitting in indecision about what to do next or how to niche down, or what audience you want to attract. Get started. All of that will get fleshed out as you are constantly changing and growing. So start at the beginning. It's okay. I'm giving you permission. The problem isn't that you are a beginner. The problem is that you aren't getting started. This is the number 1 thing getting in the way of your success. And the longer you delay, the further out of reach your goals and dreams are. There are my 5 lessons that creating 100 podcast episodes have taught me:Keep your mind in the gainHave a guideLean on your communityDo the workStart at the beginningBrand Builder's Bootcamp are about to open. This is my 6 week course to help you define your brand, create the content you need to grow and systematize it so that you get out of that hamster wheel. At the end of the 6 weeks you will have all of the tools to do the work. You will have me as your guide. You will have that community. And most importantly, you will have a reason to get started and leave that fear of not doing everything perfectly behind. How many of you, either right now, or when starting out ask yourself, how do I get more followers? How do I get more email subscribers? How do I get more reel views or shares?Don't be ashamed. Yes, this is very common. These are the questions we are asking, because in our minds we are connecting more of these metrics with growth in our business. But I'm here to tell you…You are asking the wrong questions.Instead of asking how do I get more followers? How do I grow my Instagram? How do I get more likes on a post. You need to be asking how do I create and share content that is worth following. What does this mean? There are two ways to grow your business: 1 - Through Paid advertisements, like FB ads, Google Ads, Pinterest Ads, and more. And the second way is through content marketing. Paid advertising is an amazing way for you to grow your business. But when you're starting out, you may not have a marketing or advertising budget. That's okay. In business, you can either use time or money to grow. And you usually only have one or the other, or you usually only want to spend one or the other. Most people, especially when you are starting out, use content marketing as a way to grow your business. So what is content marketing? Content marketing is when you create relatable, relevant, and reliable content for your audience.Content can be created in many different forms. From social media posts, to emails, podcasts, blogs, tutorials. You name it, in our day and age, the sky's the limit! So let's break down how to create and share content that is worth following.Your content needs to be these three things:RelatableRelevantReliableWhat does it mean to have relatable content? It means that the content you are creating builds a connection with someone else. And that starts out with you actually knowing who it is that you are speaking to. There are billions of people in the world, and if you are ready to stand out in the crowd, you need to have a specific message to a specific person. When you are creating content that is relatable, you stand out from the crowd and people will connect that you are the person who can help them solve their problem.Which leads into the next piece that your content needs to be: Relevant. Your content needs to serve a purpose. This means that you are cutting away the fluff of trying to do all the things and simplify into one single message. This is your brand. This is defining what it is that you do and being so clear on it that everything you create leads back to that message.I've worked with tons of women and especially in some of the masterminds that I'm in, there seems to be this lack of clarity. Women want to do this, but they also want to do that, but they help people in this way, but they know that that other way could work. And in the end, everyone is confused. And remember, a confused client doesn't buy. You do not want to confuse the people you are speaking to. You want what you say to be relevant and serve a purpose for them.Because while YOU are creating the content, everyone is looking to find a part of them IN that content. They want to know what's in it for them. This is human nature. When we think about Maslow's hierarchy of needs, we know that people are motivated by things that will help them better survive. People are programmed to seek out things that they know will help them. When you create content that serves a very specific, very actionable purpose, you are going to gain those superfans, those followers that put their trust in you.Make sure that your content is relevant. And the third element for creating content that converts is to be reliable. This means consistency. Thwww.britbennion.com/masterclass Click Here to Leave A Review

There is something special about looking at people through the lens of a camera. And I have looked at many, many women through the lens of a camera. Asking them to do something that doesn't come natural to most of us. Something that makes most people feel very vulnerable. I've had women tell me their secrets and greatest fears. Things that they usually want to hide, but are afraid that the lens of the camera will actually capture it. “I'm not pretty. I'm too old. This eye is bigger than this one. My face is not symmetrical. Can you make me look smaller? Can you see my cellulite through my pants. I have these little “eleven-sies” right in between my eyes.” And then even deeper. “I'll never be successful. My mother in law thinks I'm a joke. My husband doesn't believe in me asks when I'll get a real job. I can't ever stick to anything. I'm not consistent. I feel burnt out. I just sell some little things in a little shop.”And over the years of working with women entrepreneurs I know that I am not just a photographer. I'm a dig-deep-down, challenge your inner most thoughts and transform you into something completely different kind of a gal. But most importantly with my clients…I'm a cheerleader. And as I've been doing the work on myself, I came to a realization. I cannot change society. I cannot change the fact that over the course of thousands of years, women have been taught that they are less than, should be smaller, quieter, nicer, wallflowers. So much so that it's most likely ingrained in our DNA. I can't change any of that. And I also know that I cannot control the experiences that my daughter has in life. But despite all of that I know that I hold the key to setting her on a different path. And that simple key is that I can be an example. The most important thing that I can do to change the trajectory for my daughter is to show her that I love myself. And in turn, the most important work that I can do in this world is to be an example of self-love so that I can show other women and they can show their friends and neighbors and daughters. So you may be saying, Brittany….this is all very nice and well, but what does it mean to love yourself? Does it mean that I give myself a hug everyday or soak in a bath or get a pedicure? Are you telling me that by getting a pedicure that I'm going to change the world? Maybe I am.But I don't want you to mistake self-love with self-reliance or self-sufficiency. We can take care of ourselves, which is self-reliance, but self-love is the ability to not dissolve into a puddle of shame or self-hatred when we mess up. It means that we can try new things that we might fail at and know that we, ourselves, are not failures. And self-love isn't actually always easy.I'm going to break it down into 3 very simple categories and in a very simple way so that you can remember this. Move your body. (Exercise - Sit up straight). When you get out of that contractive pose, your brain releases testosterone (power hormone) and reduces cortisol (the stress hormone). If you can't get your mind in the right place, get your body in the right place and your brain will follow. Become more mindful. People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel, and want. Neuroplastic brain. Changing the thoughts in your head. Affirmations. Showing up from a place of love.Practice good self-care. Ask yourself, “what is the kindest thing I can do for myself today?” Go to bed Almost every entrepreneur I talk to says they hate the way they look in photos.
Working with a brand photographer might look different than what you expected. Having a photographer that just shows up and takes pictures will only get you so far. After investing time, energy, and money into a photoshoot, you want to have a photographer who does more for your business. Commercial and brand photographer, Jenna Joann, tells her clients just that. ""There's lots of different touch points that you have to make with your client. If you're out there and you say, 'It's time for me to hire a photographer, I'm ready to work with somebody,' find somebody that's going to communicate with you and really understand and get that deep level knowledge of your brand."The more your brand photographer knows about you and your business, the better equiped they are to capture your brand.Whether you hire a brand photographer to photograph you or your business products, it's crucial that your photographer has an understanding of your needs. When working with products, Jenna ask questions like- "What is this product? What are the ingredients made in it? I'm literally taking apart the product in my mind. So I'm looking at whatingredients are in it. What's the color of this product? What is this product used for? How does it smell? How does it make me feel?"Because at the end of the day, you aren't necessarily selling a product, but rather how that product is going to make you feel.Which is why brand photography is catgorized as a business investment, rather than a business expense. With brand photography you get a return on what you spend. Not only are you able to sell more of your offers but you are able to be more confident and show up in a different way in your business. No matter where you are on your business journey, we can all use a little more confidence. Here are the 7 daily things I do to boost confidence in myself, my offers, my business, and life.1. Stop Comparing Yourself to OthersWhen you compare yourself to others, you will always be at least one step behind and always looking to other people to validate your decisions and choices. And when you compare yourself to others, you are usually comparing your very worst to their very best. But the truth is that no one is as perfect or put together as they may seem online. Start focusing on trusting who you are. 2. Look Inward, Not OutwardWhen we're looking outward at what other people are doing, it distracts us from what we need to do in our business and in our purpose.Trust who you are and trust your gut. You get to decide what works best for you and your business. Yes, that includes some testing and trial and error, but you will get to you goals so much faster if you start by looking inward for answers.3. Measure BackwardsMeasuring backwards means that you're focusing on yourself and looking at where you are now versus where you were before. This simple exercise will allow you to open up your mind to be able to see that you've grown, that you learned something new, and that you're getting better.Otherwise, you're constantly chasing this ideal that you'll never get to. Instead use this technique to measure backwards and see what gains you've made in your life and business to boost your confidence. To learn more about this, check out The Gap and The Gain.4. Power PoseI love talking about power posing and in fact, I have a whole episode about power posing. So what is power posing? It's literally moving your body into a more confident position. When you move your body, your brain follows.I like to call it the "wonder woman" pose. It's when you stand up, legs are spread apart like hip with the part, your chest is puffed out your hands on your hips and your head is held up. What happens when you get into a powerful position like this, is that your brain is your brain is literally being rewired to build confidence and hold empowering thoughts.5. Rewire the Words In Your HeadThis has been my goal for 2022! I'm my own biggest critic. And I hear the same from women all the time."I don't know what I'm doing." "I'm not enough." "I weigh too much." "I can't get my pictures taken." "I don't know what I'm doing in, in business or marketing." "I'm so overwhelmed." "I'm stressed out." I hear it all the time. I say it all the time to myself too. I also hear people who are further along on their business journey than me say the same things. To combat this, you must flip these words on their heads. Find the opposite of these destructive thoughts and focus on that. Consciously repeat those in your mind to rewire your thoughts that aren't serving you.6. Learn Something NewI love to learn. Each year, I take a day at the end of the year to do some review and planning. When I'm doing my year in review there are a few different questions that I ask myself. The first thing I ask myself is:How did this year start out?You may have heard the saying, you overestimate what you can do in a day and underestimate what you can do in a year. When you take a few minutes to reflect back on where you started and where you are now, you will be blown away. This can be for anything in your life. Not just your business. When I think back to where I was last year and where I am now, it puts so many things into perspective. This has been a huge year for me and my family. But not entirely in a business sense. My husband graduated and got his PhD, we got his dream job, moved across the country, and are finally settled. This time last year, we had NO clue where we were going to be. With Covid and soaring unemployment rates, we had no idea if my husband would even get a job. With my business, I had to put everything on hold for the majority of 3 months. And yet, I'm still here doing my best to show up for you. That's a whole lot of things happening in a year's time. But let me tell you. When I focus on the day to day actions, the majority of the time, I feel like I'm behind. I'm not. From where this year started out to where I am now is amazing. What worked well this year? It's always great to focus on the things in your business and life that went really well. Did you have an offer that took off? Did you create a new offer that was more in alignment with your audience? Were you more consistent in doing something? Did you have better systems? This year, and especially this last quarter, I've been crushing it at Instagram Reels. They have been SO much fun to create and I love being able to educate and entertain at the same time. I've also really dedicated some time to upping my Pinterest game. It's been a challenge because my brain tells me that I'm not an expert in this, which is why I bring on Pinterest guest experts to teach you about this amazing platform. But let me tell you, I've been working, and learning, and experimenting, and I'm proud to say that I've seen a difference in my business and Pinterest is something that has worked well for me this year. What didn't work so well?Being able to reflect on ways to improve is always an excellent step to take in your business. When we don't take the time to reflect on this, we may be sticking our heads in the sand, or trying to push through so hard that we don't realize we are pushing against a brick wall. When we ask ourselves what didn't work so well, it allows you to make some changes, removes blocks, and helps you move forward.Things that didn't work well for me this year, batching my content. I know, I know. I'm the queen of touting the benefits of batch work. And I stick 100% to all of that. But I'm being very honest with you. Sometimes, it just doesn't work for me. This year, I have been dealing with some PTSD and anxiety and it's really hindered me from being able to batch create in the way that I like to. I'm putting some systems into place in 2022 so that I can get back into the power of batching.Read more here.Almost every entrepreneur I talk to says they hate the way they look in photos.
Welcome to the posed for success podcast, episode 91, The Confident Selfie Secret. How many times have you tried to take a selfie? You are most likely in either one of three camps. Completely avoid taking selfies.Take 45 photos trying to get the one you like. Are a pro and have the duck faced pursed lips down to a science.I know you know what I'm talking about. Now most of you aren't likely to be in that third group. It's just not in most people's nature to feel comfortable on camera or to take and post perfect selfies all the time. Now, I'm on a mission to change that, but we'll get back to that in a bit.You probably felt more like group 1 or two, who either completely avoids taking selfies or you aren't confident with taking your own photo that you end up taking a million photos and then spend a half hour trying to pick out one that you actually feel like it's worth posting. If you relate to this at all, listen up, because I'm talking directly to you. Here are some reasons why I think you need to learn how to take selfies. Or, if we want to make it sound more professional….learn the art of self portraits. To begin, you need to understand that there is a deep desire in human beings to connect. I've talked about this plenty, but this is the best place to start. Humans love connection. That's how we operate in everything that we do in the world. We have to connect in order to work, collaborate, sell, and buy. And people will choose to take these actions with people they know, like and trust. If you are looking to increase these types of actions with others, you need to start with connection. Your audience needs to see you. They need to learn more about you. They need to like you and what they see, and then they will begin to trust you. Taking self portraits is a crucial step in this process. If you want to test this out for yourself, check out what content people engage with the most. Whether on your facebook, instagram, tiktok, emails - whatever. You are more likely to see higher engagement when you show your face and connect with other people.Next, you need to recognize that you are unique. There's only one YOU! What you do and how you do it is different from everyone else in the world. And that's special. You could be selling the exact same product as your next door neighbor, but you will do it differently because there's only one way that you do it. So capitalize on that. And realize that when you put yourself out there and show yourself you won't be for everybody and that's okay. Let me give you an example. Friday nights are usually pizza night at my house. My husband and I go all out and make the most delicious homemade pizzas. We have fun testing out new toppings and combinations. You could say we are pizza aficionados. Now, you might think that a pizza is a pizza…especially if it's a delicious pizza. But of course, that's not true. My husband will not touch a pizza that has pineapple on it. But I love that. There's no convincing my husband that a pizza with pineapple is worth being made or eaten. And that's okay. Because, while I know I'm in the minority here, I love a good pizza with ham and pineapple. And when I get the chance to eat that pizza, you'd better believe that's the slice I go for.Let me teach you how to do this. Head on over to britbennion.com/selfie.Almost every entrepreneur I talk to says they hate the way they look in photos.
The coaching industry is at an all time high. When you're competing for clients, you need to make sure to stand out. Here are five tips to gain high paying coaching clients.KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TOIt's vital that you know exactly who you are talking to. While you may know a lot about health and wellness, if you are a coach for someone who is trying to lose weight by counting macros, that's completely different from a coach who is trying to help someone lose weight by training for their first 5K. The same goes for someone who is a life coach. If you coach mothers of children who are on the spectrum, that will be very different from someone who coaches people who have gone through traumatic experiences. You may have the skill set to do both, but if you are trying to attract a client into your high ticket offer, you need to make sure you know exactly the type of person you are talking to.This niching down may feel restrictive, but it's actually very freeing. Once you understand exactly the type of person that you are working with, you can start to easily create content that relates to their situation. When you get focused on who exactly it is that you're talking to, you start to stand out as the authority in that field, which opens up many new opportunities for coaching clients.SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGEWhen you know who you're talking to, you need to speak to them in a way that they understand and can connect with. For example, a fertility coach needs to know the special words and jargon that are used in that world - like TTC, which stands for trying to conceive, or BBT, which stands for Basal Body Temperature. Now, not all of them are acronyms, but to make my point, you need to use the words and language that your clients are using. This builds instant trust between you and your future client. Coaching is a very high level practice. As a coach, you are able to remove yourself and see your client's problem from a bird's eye view. Many times this may mean that you are speaking to a solution and a conclusion that they haven't arrived at yet. This causes a disconnect. When you are creating content to attract a high level client, you want them to feel like you are inside of their head. Using their own language helps them to resonate better with what you say.How do you find the language that your ideal client community is using? Here are three easy ways to do that:Read the rest of the tips here.
Content creation burnout...we've all been there. Whether you need extra help, have major life experiences, or just not finding the joy in your business that you used to, burnout is real, and you're not alone.Having a plan to overcome burnout is essential and I've got five ways to help you through a difficult time in your business.Know Your Energy and Plan Your Week AccordinglyJust because somebody says you need to create content a certain way doesn't mean that it's going to work for you. If it works for one person, it doesn't work for everybody. Know and recognize your energy and then plan your week accordingly. You may be someone who likes to sit down and get you content knocked out in one sitting. Or you might need to create content in the moment. When you're aware of how you can best create content, plan your creation schedule around that. Block out chunks of time or give extra space to allow for moments of inspiration. Just don't try to force content creation into something that doesn't work for you, because that will cause resentment and burnout.Prioritize Where You Create ContentWe know that you have the ability to be everywhere, but doing this causes burnout. If you're trying to be on all of the platforms all of the time, of course you're exhausted. So the best thing for you to do is focus on where you get the most traction and let everything else just trickle down. I'll give you a little bit of an insight into how I create content and how I utilize this.I choose one thing, the most important piece of content that I can create, and I go 100% all in on that. My podcast is my core piece of content. It's the most important thing that I create and it's something that I prioritize and make sure that I do every single week.Because this is a bigger piece of content, I'm able to let the rest of the content that I create throughout the week and month trickle down from this one piece. I break it down, summarize, and pull quotes from this content and am able to make multiple pieces of similar content. From my podcast I can create:Weekly NewsletterWeekly Blog PostPinterest PinsInstagram CarouselInstagram ReelFacebook Group PostInstagram StoriesIf I have to choose between making a Reel and producing a podcast, I prioritize my podcast.Create Healthy Headspace Around Content CreationWhen you have resistance to content creation it means that you need to change your mindset around it.Maybe you need to sit down and think a couple of minutes about your "why". Why are you building a business? When you start thinking about your greater purpose, you are more able to create content from a place of abundance, not stress.Having a healthy mindset around content creation you're better able to get into flow and your content connects better with your audience.Use a Content Creation SystemA content creation system helps you create content easier and faster. Having systems actually makes you use less brain space. You're using less energy because you're going through an already proven process.Check out my FREE content creation system HERE.Organize Your Content Organize and catalog your content to see what is working for your business. A good baseline is to do organize your content every few months. Once you have a good understanding of your best content, you can use this to repurpose content. If you want to be known as an expert in something, you have to repeat what you say over and over again. When you have a catalog of content that connects, you can refine and repeat your content over and over. This is the biggest buster of content burnout!
Marketing your business may seem scary or overwhelming. If you don't have money set aside in your business budget for marketing, you may not be getting the type of traction you want. You may not be getting the number of clients or bookings you want. Some businesses have HUGE sums of money set aside for marketing. Think of how much it costs to put in a commercial during the super bowl. MILLIONS, right? It costs about 5 and a half million dollars to advertise a 30 second commercial in the superbowl. Now, nearly 100 million people view the super bowl, not to mention all of the people who come back after the fact, just to watch the commercials on YouTube. I know that I certainly do that. If we do some rough estimating….and I mean rough. It actually breaks down to spending about one dollar and getting 20-30 people viewing the commercial. That doesn't sound terrible right? On a recent facebook ad campaign I ran, I calculated it out and found that my ad spend for nearly the same exposure was priced pretty similarly. I could reach about 30 people for 80 cents. Fascinating. To think that I'm able to have the same budget spend ratio as someone who advertises in the Superbowl? However, let's contrast that to what happened when I created content using my Brand Builder's Formula. I was able to create a 30 second commercial for myself and it was seen by over 3,000 people, that were mostly in the realm of my ideal community, for FREE. Then I did it again the next week, and the next week. Even when I create a post for myself and it's seen by 40 or 50 people, I can do it for free.Having a marketing budget is amazing and it helps you to grow bigger faster, but if you aren't utilizing the tools that you have right now for free, how will you ever be successful enough to even have a budget to pay for that growth? This is where branding is the solution to market you and your business for free, vs spending any amount of money. If you have listened to episode 86, I talk about the 4 pillars of a stand out brand. I say this over and over again. When you build these pillars: Visibility, Vision, Visuals, and Viability, you are able to create a brand that attracts clients to YOU in your sleep. This is what I teach in Brand Builder's Bootcamp. Listen to the episode to hear two case studies. If you are not a massive company with a HUGE budget for marketing, or even if you are, you have to understand fundamental principles I teach in my Brand Builder's Formula in order for you to get that next client and grow. The advertising and marketing world has changed. We can't just list an ad in the newspaper and expect people to come running. If you're an online business, there's not even a newspaper to do that in.Social media advertisements, like Facebook ads, have evolved. When you are using Facebook Ads to market your business, you have to put into action a strategy. You still have to build your know, like, and trust factor. A single advertisement will not work. People see far too many advertisements and we've become numb to them. You must "woo" your next clients, you must provide them with value while positioning yourself as the expert. It's a fine dance, but it will be the difference between endlessly putting content out there with no direction and getting nothing out of it and actually having a strategy that works for you and attracts clients in your sleep. So how do you advertise and market yourself for free? You build a personal brand using the four pillars in the Brand Builder's Formula. Visibility, Vision, Visuals, and Viability. It's as simple as that. Want to learn more about this formula? Building a personal brand is the ONLY way that your business can grow and withstand the bumps in the road that always come with entrepreneurship. Many of us get into entrepreneurship because we have a bigger dream of what we want. Sitting behind a desk all day doesn't cut it. Whether you started your own business because you wanted freedom, extra income, control over your life, or something else, I want to help you have the best chance of success and sustainability. That's why I teach the Brand Builder's Formula. This formula consists of three 4 pillars that you need to have in your personal brand in order to build a business that will last.If you've been in business for any length of time, you know that it's not all roses. There are ups and downs. There are financial downturns and times when your creativity is in a rut. If you focus on building a strong brand, it will be the guide to get you out of those ruts. It will be the foundation to let you weather those downturns. More than any other thing you can do in your business. So let's learn about the four pillars of a stand out brand.VISIBILITYIn order to have a personal brand, YOU need to be visible. This doesn't mean that you need to always be dancing in instagram reels or tiktoks, but it does mean that when people are trying to make a purchasing decision between two products, and they know who you are, they are more likely to purchase from you. VISIONYou need to know not only who you are, but who you serve. That clarity brings about vision. I recently did a poll on instagram where I asked if you would prefer for you to find more clients or for clients to find you. Every single one of you said that you would like clients to find you. You want to attract your ideal clients. You want clients knocking on your door, not the other way around. That's awesome! I want the same thing. If this is something you want for your business, it means that you need to have a clear vision of who you serve and how you serve them so that your ideal clients will come straight to you. VISUALSYour visuals can also be called the content that you create. You need to be creating visuals or content..REGULARLY. How can you expect anyone to find you if you don't put things out there?Using consistent visuals is vital to having longevity in your brand.VIABILITYIf you want your brand to survive and thrive, you need to make sure that it lives. It needs to be viable. Which means that you have to have systems in place to allow it to be consistent. So many of you are asking me “Brittany, why am I not growing? Why are my ideal clients not coming to me? Why am I not making the sales?” And very often this is the reason. You are not being consistent. Each time I put a system in place that's either automated or super simple to use, I get better results with my clients. When I batch my work or schedule in time to get the work done, I show up with a plan that gets me closer to my goals.Viability is what gives your brand life.I want to invite you to my FREE 3 day challenge where I deep dive into each of these pillars and how you can actually implement them into your business. 1) KNOW WHO YOU'RE SPEAKING TOThis one you may have heard before. You need to niche down, you need to know who your clients are, you need to understand who you are speaking to. And if you're thinking, oh my gosh...I'm hearing this again. Well….it's because you aren't doing it! If there's one thing that I've learned in my years as an entrepreneur, it's that if you keep hearing the same thing over and over again - you'd better pay attention.Knowing who you're speaking to is foundational to creating a strong personal brand. When you can get really crystal clear on who you're speaking to, then you can connect to their wants, needs and problems. And that leads into the next simple step2) UNDERSTAND WHAT PROBLEM YOU SOLVEThis isn't simply understanding what you do. Anyone can do that. If you're a hairstylist, the problem you solve isn't overgrown hair. If you're a photographer, the problem you solve isn't outdated pictures. If you're a life coach, the problem you solve isn't listening to your clients for an hour. What you DO isn't the same as the problem you solve. The problem you solve is the transformation. HOW you do it is just the mechanics behind giving your client that transformation. It's a subtle but vital difference. I see so many business owners trying to grow their business on selling their service, but that doesn't cut it. Especially in a digital world where there are a million other people doing the exact same thing. If you are able to focus your brand messaging on the problem you solve, you are already 10 steps ahead of the majority of your competition. The final simple step to build your personal brand is to be crystal clear.3) BE CRYSTAL CLEARA confused customer doesn't buy. Someone who has never met you or seen what it is that you do should be able to figure out:1) Who you serve and 2) How you solve their problemin just a few short minutes. If that's not happening, you've got some work to do.Now this goes a little deeper than clarity. It also means that you need to be consistent. Clarity comes through consistency. And this is where having a formula, like the Brand Builder's Formula, will give you the tools you need to know to create simple consistency in your business. When you are able to know who you're speaking to, understand what problem you solve, and be so crystal clear on those points that you become the only person your client can think of when they need help, you've taken 3 simple steps to build your personal brand. If these ring true to you and you know that this is what you need in your business, join me in my course, Brand Builder's Bootcamp. A personal brand statement is a 3 to 4 sentence statement that explains you and your brand. But it's more than just a quick 30 second elevator pitch used to introduce yourself. You may have done an exercise where you practiced what you would say if you walked into an elevator and only had 30 seconds to explain what it was you did for work. And that's a great skill to have. It's important to quickly and concisely explain who you are and what you do.Here's a direct example from indeed.com:“Hi, my name is Sara. It's so nice to meet you! I'm a PR manager, specializing in overseeing successful initiative launches from beginning to end. Along with my 7 years of professional experience, I recently received my MBA with a focus on consumer trust and retention. I find the work your PR team does to be innovating and refreshing—I'd love the opportunity to put my expertise to work for your company. Would you mind if I set up a quick call next week for us to talk about any upcoming opportunities on your team?”Get it? You are telling someone what you do and kind of pitching your ideas or offer to them. But a personal brand statement goes deeper than that. A personal branding statement is a guide to everything you do in your business.A personal branding statement is what you will look back on and reference for everything you create. From content to offers, to articles, to social media, to podcasts, to what you wear and where you speak, who you network with and more. It's THAT important. Why do you need one?So why do you even need one? Remember that I said a personal branding statement is a guide to everything you do in your business? This is different from just telling someone that you are a stylist or a designer. A personal branding statement showcases the personal aspect that you bring to what you do. It says who you are, what you do, who you serve, or what problem you solve, and what makes you unique.A personal branding statement is your guiding compass. If you don't have one, you will probably make a wrong turn and then waste time scrambling to get back on the right road. How many times have you said, “Yes” to a project or client that just didn't work out for you? I know that I'm guilty of that. It makes everything you do so much harder because it isn't in alignment with your mission and goal. But if you have a brand mission statement, you can always refer back to it to guide what you should say yes to, what you should say no to, what you create, what you offer, and how you serve.Where to use one?As an entrepreneur, you most likely aren't sending out resumes to various corporations. That's one place that many people think a personal branding statement should be used. Instead, you will most likely be using it as a guide for what you are creating and offering in your products or services. You may even use it to introduce yourselves at networking events or meeting others to collaborate with. What about pitching yourself for a podcast or as a guest speaker at a summit or conference? This is a fast and easy way to grab the attention of people you want to work with. It's a concise way to qualify if an opportunity is the right fit for you. But the most important place to use a personal brand statement is in your daily business. How do you create one?Check out this post for more info....Join the Branded Business Collective. What is the #1 thing stopping you from getting your branding photos done? When I ask my audience this, a surprising number of you say that you want to lose 10 pounds before you get your photos done. Or some version of that:You aren't comfortable in your skinYou don't like the way you lookWe are living in a world that generally associates success with a certain look. However, we need to acknowledge that the overwhelming majority of people look nothing like that. Let's break those stereotypes and start normalizing what we, as female entrepreneurs, actually look like. But I do hear you. I see that you aren't sure of this whole branding thing because you want to be that confident business owner and can't get over that mental block - that you have to lose those stubborn pounds we've all gained during the pandemic in order to get your photos done.So I've got a secret for you: You don't have to actually lose those ten pounds in order to look like you've lost it in photos. Because these tips and tricks will help you in every aspect of your business. From branding photos to video to speaking engagements...even to your iphone selfies. Let's dive in. Find Clothing That Fits and Complements YouYou'd be surprised how an ill-fitting blouse or shapeless dress will add ten pounds to your image. While you may want to hide with outfits that are looser, I want you to start with something a little more fitted. V-necks or a long necklace are a great option to compliment your neckline and make you look leaner. And don't be afraid to use shapewear. It doesn't matter what size or shape you are, shapewear helps your clothing lay better and lifts and tucks away everything. Now if you want to slim up your figure, stay away from large patterns or horizontal stripes. Vertical is the way to go! Stick with solid colors or layer your clothing to add dimension to your outfit.Focus on Your PosingPosing does wonders to emphasize your best features and hide what you hate. So what techniques do you need to know to pose like a pro?Whatever is closest to the camera looks bigger and whatever is further away looks smaller. I have wider hips and smaller shoulders, so I always push my hips back and my shoulders forward when taking pictures. A little lean isn't noticeable in the camera and keeps the focus on your face. I always tell my clients to give me a little hinge at the waist and it totally changes the look and feel of the imageSit up straight and suck it in. A little bit of good posture does wonders...plus, it makes you look and feel more confident! If it bends, try bending it. This breaks up your body from looking like a block and adds some "white space" around you. Hands on hips or a popped knee creates spaces between your body and helps your shape look more naturalOut and DownTo learn what this means and more, check out the rest of the show notes at www.britbennion.com/episode83And don't forget to grab my guided cheatsheet while you're there!Join the Branded Business Collective. Have you ever felt like you are competing in an oversaturated market? The problem isn't that the market is oversaturated, it's just that you're still trying to fit in with everyone else doing the same thing as each other. You haven't done anything different to make people start to notice you. So what can you do to stand out?Focus on what makes you uniqueIt may be hard to figure out what makes you unique when you don't think you're unique. But how much harder is it for your potential client to think you are unique when you're doing everything the same as everyone else? SO HARD. I promise, you don't want to make it hard for your clients to figure out what sets you apart. If you're struggling with this, ask your close family and friends. A little distance allows them a different perspective. Sometimes we don't know what is unique about us because it comes so naturally to us. Think of things that come easily to you, because I guarantee that it doesn't come that easily for everyone else.No one can do what you do exactly like you do it. So let people know that you do things differently or that you have a strength that is well suited for what you do. Infuse your personality into everythingYou need to put the YOU into your brand.Maybe you think that if you are a certain way that you'll get more clients or people will like you better. All that does is keep your potential clients on the fence. They don't like you enough to be dying to work with you and they don't dislike you enough to move on. The goal is to get them off of the fence. It doesn't matter which way they go. Some will go one way and others will go the other way. But if everyone says on the fence, your business won't go anywhere. That's where you end up being stuck in the oversaturated market. That's when people start competing with you over price. And you really don't want that to happen. So infuse your personality into everything. Some people will love you and some people will not. And that's okay. I know plenty of people who can't stand Beyonce, but you'd better believe that she couldn't care less about them because there are so many people who know she is Queen B. And when people are off the fence you can really start to focus on serving the ones that are on your side of the fence. The biggest reason you want to infuse your personality is that you can just be yourself. And that's significantly less exhausting than trying to be someone else or suppressing who it is that you really are. Just show up as you!Find out the rest by clicking here.Links MentionedPierced By MacBrand Builder's BootcampPodcaster's KitJoin the Branded Business Collective. Do you want to know how to make social media not suck the life out of you? When you are growing a business you hear all sorts of opinions about how you should be posting every single day or that if you don't have a large enough following that you won't be taken seriously, or that the algorithm is out to get you, so there's no point in even trying. Trust me, I've heard it all. And honestly, you can throw all of that advice out the window. After years and years of trying to crack the code, find the secret formula, and unravel the mysteries of social media, I've found that there is only one true trick. Consistency. Just be consistent. Consistency looks different for everyone and every industry. But if you truly want to gain traction on social media, then you need to be consistent. We may think that because the “experts” say we should be posting every day, that we have to be perfect and never miss or we will have failed. And that just isn't true. You do need to be consistent. Because that builds trust. That builds connection. That builds the relationship that you want to have with your clients, customers, and audience. When you are bouncing around, with no consistency, it will make it so much more difficult to establish those patterns on which we as human beings so heavily rely. Have you ever signed up for someone's email list and then never heard from them again? And then a year later, they all of a sudden send you an email? It's jarring. It's confusing. And if you're like me, I immediately delete and unsubscribe. Because they don't have my trust, they didn't take the time to nurture and develop a relationship with me. So, let me say this again. Consistency matters! Here are 3 simple steps to being consistent on social media:1. Know who you are talking toBefore you start off with creating bucket-loads of content, you need to be really clear about who you are talking to with your posts. Before I sit down to do any batch work, I take a few minutes to refresh myself, or redefine who it is that I'm speaking to. I think about their wants and desires. I get really focused on my ideal community so that when I do get to writing, recording, or creating, they are top of mind.Learn more at www.britbennion.com/episode81Join the Branded Business Collective. When someone lands on your "About Me" page they are looking for a reason to hire you - a reason to work specifically with you. So how can you do that and what pictures do you need to make your "About Me" page stand out from the competition?1) Welcome the viewer into your spaceWhen a potential client lands on your website and wants to learn more about you, they have some expectations when they click on "About Me". It's like a new friend coming to your home and is about to ring the doorbell. They expect you to be the one to greet them at the door. They probably anticipate a friendly, “hello” or an invitation to come sit down and chat. That's exactly what you want your page to do for you. You want to immediately show your face and welcome them into your world. Imagine what it would be like if a neighbor knocked on your door, you cracked it open, stuck your hand out holding a sign with a paragraph of your life bio. Weird huh? That's what so many people are doing when they forget to include a photo of themselves on their "About Me" page and think that a stanza on their life accomplishments is a good enough introduction. Stepping into a brand photoshoot can be a very vulnerable experience. Getting all dolled up, staring into the lens of a camera, moving in awkward feeling poses. Not the easiest thing to do. But I spoke with my good friend and personal stylist, Swapna Patel, to give us the inside scoop on styling yourself for your personal branding session. Swapna Patel is a New York City area-based personal stylist. She teaches female entrepreneurs to quit hiding behind their laptops in sweatpants, messy buns and confidently use their wardrobe as a tool to show up as the face of their brand. As a stylist, Swapna has helped coaches, fitness experts, photographers, realtors, and other female business owners level up their style, using what they already have in their closet, so they can look like true industry experts. It is Swapna's firm belief that it is not what you wear, it is how you wear it! While she loves style, she is not a label junkie, something she prides herself on! Working with Swapna has saved her clients lots of money, boosted their confidence and some say it has even changed their life! So what is Swapna's take on what to wear for your next photo session? She says that you should start with what you already have. Many times you have everything that you need in your closet, but you just don't know how to put them together. It's always a good idea to bring in an element of “play” and “creativity” to your style. Also, ask yourself: What are the finishing pieces I need to complete this look? Don't always go for the exact same things that you wear every day. Mix it up and have fun. Because you can use your wardrobe and style to tell a story about who you are. It's all a part of who you are as a personal brand. But what if you think you don't “have a personal style”? Swapna tells us that you need to think about your brand aesthetic because it very often mirrors your own personal style. Start with the descriptors that you are using in your brand. For example “modern” - head on over to Pinterest and start creating a vision board of what you like. Focus on the colors that pop out to you and incorporate those into your wardrobe. Pinterest is an excellent resource for you to not only understand what your style is, it also helps you to know what isn't your style. Allow yourself to grow and play. Try something new. Mix and match what you already have and add pieces that compliment what you already have. That's what brings life to your style. When you are planning for your photoshoot here are a few strategies to look and feel your best: Find out more at: www.britbennion.com/episode78
Ready to debunk personal branding myths that I hear all of the time? This is important for you to hear at any stage in your business journey, because they are the basis of personal branding that people mess up all the time. So let's set the record straight today.1. You have to look or act a certain way in order to have a successful brand. We are not robots….we are not machines….we are not the stepford wives...we are humans. Humans who run, own, and operate businesses. The point in thinking of yourself as a brand isn't that you create an alter-ego that you call your personal brand. It's not that your personal brand all of a sudden is this super-human, polished, robotic persona of you. That's all wrong. The actual point of a personal brand is to become authentic and intentional. The best way to become more human in your brand is to know who you are and then accept that enough to tell your story. 2. You have to be an extrovert to have a personal brandMany people who are successful and are building personal brands are actually introverts. So how do we balance between showing up online and being an introvert? A lot of it has to do with boundaries and understanding where to draw the line. The best example of this is Jenna Kutcher. She is the queen of batching and this is one way that she is able to be successful and an introvert -because she protects her time and energy. This is not to say that extroverts have it easy. They certainly deal with many things as well, but just remember...if you happen to be an introvert, it doesn't mean that you can't have a successful personal brand.3. You have to have a certain number of followers to be successful. This could be likes, followers, subscribers, downloads, anything. There is no magic number that you need to hit in order to be successful. In fact, you are the only one who gets to determine what success is for you. There are thousands of broke “influencers” and thousands of thriving businesses with small followings. What matters most is finding what works for you and your brand. And this mostly means that you need to treat each and every follower with respect and understand that they are a human being, not a cash cow. I've worked with many women entrepreneurs who have very small followings but generate multiple 6 figures and are living the lifestyle that they want. It's because they've worked with me and understand that by getting clear on who they serve and how to best serve them, they can produce the results that they are promising and can generate the revenue that they need. And you can do the same. Start by serving who you have and stop focusing on the numbers. Your consistency and authenticity is going to get you to where you want to be far faster than if you focus solely on numbers.

This leads to stress, overwhelm, and a loss in confidence. And if you don't have that confidence piece, you can't build your business. We've seen a massive shift in how businesses are marketed. With social media, you have an almost unlimited space to show up and speak about what you do. But one of the biggest challenges that women face is “public speaking”.Public Speaking can be anything from:One-on-one conversationSales pitchOn-stage speaking experienceLive VideoWebinars / ZoomAmy shares with us her 5 tips on how to help successful women overcome the fear of public speaking:Stand Tall Like A Tree: We need to remember that how we look, in our posture, sends a message. We forget that we speak volumes without saying a word. Instead of getting stuck worrying about what you're going to say and how you're going to say it, start by just standing tall. This helps you to feel more stable and grounded, which will allow you to instantly be more confident.Shine the Light: Imagine that you have a search light that's positioned in your heart-center. Stand in such a way that that search light can shine out to your audience. This opens you and your posture up, which signals confidence, and it will allow people to sense your energy. Bring the Energy of a Smile: The act of smiling releases the “happy hormone” oxytocin. If you bring the energy of a smile, not just the motion of smiling, you receive an oxytocin hit and the people who are watching you get an oxytocin hit. Your energy can be shown in person and through live video. Find a picture of something that brings you joy and look at it before you go on video or do your next presentation.Remember-It's Not About You: When we are consumed by our fears, we cannot serve others.Use the “Stop Sign Technique”: When you have all of those self-destructing thoughts pop up in your mind. Start by recognizing the thoughts that you have, then visualize in your mind a stop sign, take a deep breath, and imagine all of those thoughts dumping out of your mind onto the sidewalk. These steps will not only help you in growing your business, they will help you in your whole life. You will feel so much more confident because you have trained your body and brain. Just like working out, building your confidence is like building a muscle.Grab Amy's Poised and Confident Guide
Are you doing the same thing over and over in your business just not seeing the results that you want? Maybe you have found success. Maybe you have a viable offer. But what about growth? It’s something that we all seem to be chasing. Let's dive into what you need to understand in your business so that you can achieve growth. If you’ve been following me on IG or are in my FB group, you may know that I'm about to move across the country. YES! It’s honestly a big deal for me and my family. Our house is filled with boxes and I’ve been sorting through what to keep and what to leave. This has been a pretty stressful time for us.But this is a good move for us. Really good. I’m excited in so many ways. We’ve been preparing for this moment for years and everything we’ve done for the past 5 years has lead up to this moment. Yet, despite all of this amazingness, there have been so many times that I’ve thought to myself:“Maybe this isn’t a good idea.” “This is going to be hard and your life is so good now, why do you want to change it?”“Who knows what’s going to happen after you move? You’ll have to start all over again. It may not be as great.”Now hold on a minute. Remember, I just told you that this move is great for my family. I KNOW this is the next step for us. So why do I get these thoughts in my head?I have a mentor who once said to me:“What got you here, won’t get you there.” All of those crazy thoughts in my brain were telling me to stay where I was. To keep doing what I was doing. To play it safe. Are you getting upset in your business because you keep doing the same thing over and over again and yet, you aren’t seeing any different results? If you are stressed, worn out, or frustrated that you cannot get traction with booking more clients, it comes down to this one factor. Understanding that what got you here won’t get you there. So start by thinking about where you are today. Whether you have found success or are just starting out or somewhere in between. Now think about where you were last year and ask yourself:"What have you done in a year’s time? Who have you served, what have you changed?"A lot of times we fail to look back on what we’ve done to see where we’ve really come. What have you done in the past 12 months? Have you grown? Do you know what steps you took to get you here? Have you kind of floundered? That’s okay, it’s not the end of the world. But what have you NOT done that has kept you where you are? What haven’t you done that has prevented you from having that growth that you want?Let me give you an example of one of my clients. She and I were on a call about her business. She had laid out her current business model and what she was doing. Then she told me about where she WANTED to go and what she WANTED to do. All of a sudden you could feel the energy in the conversation shift. She knew that growth was vital to get her to where she wanted to be. When I asked her why she wanted to work with me now and what motivated her to take action now, she said, "I know myself. And I’m scared to do this big thing. But I also know that I want to take my business to the next level. To grow. To make money. To live my passion. To do what I love. And I know that I can’t get there by doing what it is I’m currently doing.” She KNEW that she had to make a change in her life and business if she wanted to get to the next level. The same thing with me and move. I KNOW that doors and opportunities will be opened to me that I’ve never had before. And while I’m scared, I also know that I can still do it. And I know that if I stay doing exactly what I’m doing, I’m never going to get to where I really want to go. And I know the same thing goes for you. What got you HERE, won’t get you THERE.
We talk a lot about how to improve your personal brand. But do you want to get an insider’s look on HOW getting clear on your branding can actually move the needle in your business? In this episode, we are deep diving into the experience of one of my students from the Brand Builder’s Bootcamp. So you can see the exact transformation that it made on her and her business. When building a successful brand, what do you really need?Community - A group of women who are building their business online who understand what you are going through and what you are trying to do. Trying to do it by yourself will lead to despair and frustration. You don’t need to do that. Working with like minded women and following a roadmap will eliminate the stress and overwhelm that causes you to not be consistent and show up for your audience. Roadmap - You may know what you want your brand to look like, but you may not know the steps to get from Point A to Point B. If you are ready to jump in with both feet and have the path to get you there, you need the roadmap that is found in Brand Builder’s Bootcamp.Mindset - Don’t be generic or worry about whether or not you’re doing it right. Understand that overcoming perfectionism is one of the best things that you can do for your business. People don’t need “perfect”. They just need the information that you put out into the world. Putting up “B-” work is “A++++” compared to putting up nothing. Brand Builder’s Bootcamp is the key to stop getting stuck and to get out of the fear of creating content that connects with your ideal clients.Chelsea was able to go from unsure and insecure in her new position as content manager, to confident, consistent, and self-assured. All because she had the exact roadmap to get her there. I have seen the change in Chelsea's and many other of my students' business. I want the same thing for you - I'd like to welcome you to Brand Builder's Bootcamp. Just like Chelsea, you’ll be joining a community of women who are building their brand and business online. Women who want to scale and succeed. Women who are ready to go to the next level and feel confident that they have the tools to get there by attracting their ideal clients.
If you have a social media account, then you have one of these, but you may be using it the wrong way. Yes, we are talking all about profile pictures. I’m going to teach you the wrong and right way to create a killer profile picture. If you've listened to Episode 69 “Create an Instagram Bio That Converts” or Episode 70 “3 Reasons to Stop Using LinkTree Right Now”, you know that I’ve been doing a series regarding getting your instagram up to snuff. I had a discussion with one of my business girlfriends about picture profiles. She said, “Brittany….my biggest pet peeve is people’s picture profiles. Most businesses’ picture profiles are terrible. There’s got to be something that we can do.”It sparked a conversation that I hadn’t really thought of before. In fact, many business owners don’t pay too much attention to it, but it’s super important to do. So how can you up-level your picture profile?1. Understand the PlatformYou have to understand the platform that you’re working with and the device that people are viewing your image on. Did you know that a whopping 83% of all social media content is viewed from a mobile device. You need to recognize that you are working with very little real estate. So that should be a driving factor for you when determining your photo for your profile picture. It is vital for you to make sure that your image fills the frame. 2. Show your FaceNo more logos or photos of your cat or favorite social cause or children or anything else. When you are creating a personal brand, people need to connect with you. And that connection happens when you can look into someone’s eyes. 3. Have a Pleasant LookMake sure that you look pleasant in your photo. You will come off as more approachable. A pleasant look on your face is sure to build connection that much faster. *Now let me throw in a caveat. If your personal brand is 100% moody, artistic, or emotional, then you 100% need to have a photo like that. If you showed up with a super clean, perky, smiley photo….that would backfire on you. So please, make sure that it’s in line with your work and personal brand.4. Look the Way Your Normally LookMake sure that you look like your picture profile. This may mean that it’s time to update your photo. If someone were to sit down with you for a cup of coffee and then look you up on instagram, would you look the same or would they be confused? Remember, my favorite saying? A confused customer doesn’t buy. 5. Careful with the FiltersIf you don’t know my honest opinion on filters, I’d like to invite you to listen to Episode 46: Should I Use Photo Filters. In a nutshell….steady….steady on the filters. They are usually hurting you more than helping you. And if you definitely want to use them, that’s okay. Just do it lightly...okay?6. Stay Consistent Across All PlatformsStay consistent with your picture profiles across all platforms. You need to understand how people are using social media. Most of the time, users will platform hop. You want to make it as easy as possible for them to find you no matter where you are. So keep your picture profiles consistent. I’m excited to see what you end up doing with your picture profiles. Shoot me a DM on Instagram to show me what you've done!
