What up Fellas! Zweite Folge in diesem Jahr und schon schließen wir das erste Projekt des Jahres ab. Nachdem wir letzte Woche bereits über die erste Hälfte von Kanye West's vierten Album "808s & Heartbreak" aus dem Jahr 2008 gesprochen haben, schließen wir dies nun ab. Und auch wenn die Erfolgssingles "Heartless" und "Love Lockdown" bereits hinter uns liegen hält die zweite Hälfte des Albums noch einiges parat. Trotz einer gewissen Spontanität des Albums bekommen wir auch mal wieder die Möglichkeit tief in die Analyse zu gehen und uns um Kopf und Kragen zu interpretieren. Neben dem Endes seines Prozesses sprechen wir in der neuen Folge unter anderem darüber, wie Message und Replay-Value im Einklang stehen sollten und wie Kanye mal wieder seiner Zeit voraus war! When 1980s electro and freestyle music from Miami, New York, and Los Angeles touched down in Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities, it ignited a wildfire in the minds of local DJs and soundsystem operators. Out of the hoods – in Brazil known as favelas – emerged the ass-shaking sounds of baile funk. You may have heard baile funk hits by Pablo Vittar, Diplo & MIA, and Karol G, but on this episode we're taking it way way back to the roots. Raised in Fortaleza in Northeast Brazil, Priscilla Cavalcante a.k.a. House of Pris joins me to talk about her experiences in first-wave baile funk and plays us some of the most important samples and beats that started the whole movement. It doesn't matter what genre of beats you make, the 808 is one of the most powerful instruments as a beatmaker. Now, the 808 sound is a VERY SPECIAL instrument because it's like a hybrid between an kick drum and a bassline. To become a GOOD producer, you NEED to learn how to use an 808, and a bit of its history. Each genre uses the 808 a bit different, but it's a key element for fullness in your beats. (The 808 kick drum originally comes from a Roland-TR 808 Drum Machine. This week we are looking at Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreaks and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. 808s was a pivot for Kanye into rap balladry, where MBDTF was a belabored project of vulnerability and collaboration after a fraught period for Kanye. Both of these albums are important in their time and in the history of Kanye West and rap music.

In this episode we talk about how to navigate a heartbreak. We discuss the various emotional and physiological hallmarks of heartbreak and the similarities with the 5 stages of grief.
