On this episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose begin a week of conversations focused on how families can cultivate fun, connection, and belonging for girls with differing abilities. Together, they explore how Christian families can move beyond fear or uncertainty and embrace a Gospel-centered vision of inclusion—one that sees every girl as an image bearer of God.    Throughout the episode, Rachael and Natalie reflect on the beauty of people-first language, the importance of empathy in friendships, and the ways families can thoughtfully adapt activities so every girl has a place to participate. You'll also hear a Raising Godly Girls Minute from Patti Garibay that highlights the importance of cultivating empathy for friends with Autism Spectrum Disorder and helping girls extend Christ-like love to those who experience the world differently.  Through personal stories, biblical encouragement, and practical perspective, this conversation reminds parents that the Gospel calls believers to open doors, widen tables, and build communities where every girl is welcomed, valued, and celebrated. Whether your family includes a differently-abled daughter or you're seeking to better support friends navigating disability, this episode offers a hopeful reminder: when we see people the way God sees them, barriers can become bridges to deeper connection.    Three Things to Consider:    See the whole person, not the disability. Every girl is uniquely created in the image of God and deserves to be known, valued, and included in community.  The Gospel moves people from isolation to belonging. Christian families are called to open doors, widen circles, and ensure that differently-abled girls are welcomed into meaningful relationships and activities.  Be willing to adapt to serve. Sometimes inclusion simply requires creativity—adjusting environments, activities, or expectations so every girl can participate and feel honored.    Scriptures Referenced in This Episode:    John 5:1–9  Genesis 1:27  Luke 14:13–14  1 Corinthians 12:22–26    Visit raisinggodlygirls.com for more encouragement and faith-based parenting tools.            Learn how to find or start an American Heritage Girls Troop in your community at americanheritagegirls.org.

In this episode of Manufacturing in the American Century, we're joined by Ivan Rosenberg. Ivan's had a long career as an engineer and as a management consultant for aerospace and defense manufacturers. In this new chapter of his leadership and discussed in this episode, Ivan is the founder of the Uniquely Abled Project, an initiative that connects and trains people with autism and other “unique abilities” for skilled jobs in advanced manufacturing.Ivan's entry into this work is personal. As a father of two children on the autism spectrum, he saw firsthand the barriers they would face trying to enter the workforce. At the same time, he was working with manufacturers struggling to fill open jobs. That tension between labor demands and overlooked talent led him to a simple question: why aren't we connecting these dots more effectively? The Uniquely Abled Project is built on the idea that cognitive disabilities don't mean unemployability. In fact, many people with autism have strengths, such as attention to detail, comfort with repetition, and process thinking, that are a great match for family-sustaining roles in advanced manufacturing like CNC machining. Ivan walks us through how the program works, the importance of changing both language and assumptions, and what it takes to build effective cross-sector partnerships around this work.We also talk about mindset; how employers, parents, and institutions often limit what's possible by framing disability in terms of deficits rather than abilities. Ivan offers a practical, clear-eyed approach to making this shift, and in doing so unlocking the opportunity for so many more individuals to have meaningful roles in meaningful work. Way to go, Ivan! Raising a daughter with a heart of compassion and Christ-like love means helping her see the dignity, value, and worth of every person—including those who are differently abled. But as parents, how do we guide our girls in developing genuine empathy and understanding? How can we equip them to navigate friendships with peers who have disabilities with confidence, kindness, and a Biblical Worldview?  In this episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, host Patti Garibay, Founder & Executive Director of American Heritage Girls, welcomes Shauna Amick, disability rights advocate, mother of a child with Down syndrome, and a key member of Joni & Friends, the global ministry founded by Joni Eareckson Tada. Together, they explore how families can instill in their daughters the heart of Christ when it comes to inclusion, friendship, and honoring those with disabilities.  We'll dive into Shauna's powerful personal story—how her daughter's diagnosis transformed her faith and deepened her understanding of God's purpose in suffering. She shares insights on how parents can model and teach empathy, drawing from both scripture and her work with Joni & Friends. We'll also discuss practical ways to help young girls befriend and uplift peers with disabilities, address common fears or misconceptions, and reinforce the truth that every life is created in God's image.  Patti and Shauna also highlight the long-standing partnership between American Heritage Girls and Joni & Friends, including the development of the All God's Children Badge Program, AHG's Serving Persons Impacted by Disabilities National Day of Service Initiative, and the new children's book A Paintbrush for Joni.  If you're a parent, grandparent, or mentor looking for Christ-centered wisdom on raising a compassionate, service-minded daughter who sees all people through God's eyes, this episode is a must-listen.  To learn more about disability ministry resources that can transform your family's approach to inclusion and service, visit joniandfriends.org.  Find an American Heritage Girls Troop near you, visit americanheritagegirls.org       Add even more Biblical wisdom to your parenting quiver, visit raisinggodlygirls.com

In a world that often overlooks those who experience life differently, the Church has a unique and powerful opportunity—to create spaces of true belonging. This week on the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, co-hosts Rachael and Natalie dive into an essential conversation about the role of the Church, families, and communities in embracing differently-abled girls.  For too long, individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities have been separated, sometimes unintentionally, from the larger Body of Christ. But that's changing. Churches and ministries across the country are recognizing the need to move beyond mere inclusion to fostering a deep sense of belonging. Together, we'll explore what this shift looks like in practice, from the development of special needs ministries to the impact of simple, everyday acts of Christ-like love.  Patti Garibay, American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director, shares a Raising Godly Girls Minute to highlight the importance of introducing our daughters to differently-abled friends early in life. Research shows that children develop social biases as young as preschool age—but by intentionally engaging with those who experience the world differently, our girls can grow into compassionate, Christ-reflecting young women.  We'll also reflect on the Biblical call to embrace all members of God's family. First Corinthians 12 reminds us that every believer—regardless of ability—has been given spiritual gifts to serve and build up the Church. When we create environments that allow differently-abled girls to participate fully, we not only honor them but also witness the creativity and wisdom of God in ways we might otherwise miss.  From discussing impactful programs like Tim Tebow's Night to Shine to highlighting how American Heritage Girls Troops can offer a welcoming place for girls of all abilities, this episode is filled with practical ways to champion belonging. Whether you're a parent, a church leader, or simply someone who wants to reflect God's heart for all His children, this conversation will encourage and equip you to make a difference.  Join us as we consider: How can we better love, support, and celebrate our differently-abled friends? And how can we teach the next generation to do the same?  Listen now and take the next step in creating a world where every girl knows she belongs.  Find an American Heritage Girls Troop near you, visit americanheritagegirls.org       Add even more Biblical wisdom to your parenting quiver, visit raisinggodlygirls.com

The digital Bible study is inspired by a very familiar passage – 1 Corinthians 12:14-26 – where the apostle Paul highlights the importance of every person’s abilities … even those that we may inherently view as weaker or lesser. While this letter from Paul was to one of the earliest Christian communities, the body metaphor that highlights the oneness of our differences is still highly relevant today, especially when juxtaposed against the Western ideal of individualism. Random Vegas Ever wonder why they call them tokes instead of tips?  The reason is many years ago dealers tried to convince the IRS that the cash they received from players was not a tip and therefore did not have to be reported as taxable income. The logic behind this dodge was that a tip was defined by the IRS as a payment in return for special treatment. Since it is illegal for a dealer to provide any sort of favor to a player, the dealers argued that the money they were given was a “token of appreciation” for dealing an honest game, and therefore not a reward for special services. The IRS didn't buy it, but the term “toke” stuck.” (Super Casino)   TwitPic of the week It's the best picture of the sultan at the Dunes that I've ever seen, perfectly lit up a night.  It was a Porte cochere like no other.  Well, it was actually kind of an uneventful Porte cochere but it has a giant sultan on the roof.  And he had a gem that lights up at night in his turban.  This, looking at this, just makes me smile.  The picture was shared by @VitalVegaswith a hat tip to Las Vegas Memories Facebook group. Life gets busy. When our aging loved ones are slowing down, it can be challenging to dial back our pace to be present with them. The same is true when a spouse or friend becomes ill, or with our children, and especially with our parents – the folks that were yelling at us to hurry up when we were younger. Our minds might not be able to grasp what is happening when their bodies and minds are losing functionality. One thing that is super important is to meet them where they are, support them without taking over for them, and celebrate what they are able to do. They still have things that bring them joy and fulfillment. They just need a little assistance with the activities they like to do. But this doesn't mean they need us to do everything for them. If we do, we take away their autonomy and sense of accomplishment. As hard as it might be when our time is limited, it helps if we can resist the desire to take over and do for them the things they still want to be able to do - even if we can do it better or faster or with the latest tools and technology that is going to make it super cool. They still have value and capability, and if we can slow down and have patience with them, we can learn a lot from them – which helps them feel they are still valued as well.In this Meditation & Healing Circle, we are working with our patience – slowing down our energy during the times we spend together. We open our hearts to see wisdom, beauty, and lessons in the old ways that may seem obsolete. We embrace the value in accepting and appreciating our elders and all the wisdom they have gained in their lives.By the way, Happy Father's Day! This is the 3rd in a series of Blessings and Lessons from Living with My Father - keys to help us in our relationships with our parents, honoring our elderly, and in our personal growth. You're invited to join us LIVE for The Meditation & Healing Circle - every Sunday at 10am US ET / 7am US PT. Thank you for joining me for this special episode of the Mystic Dog Mama Spotlight Series. These are episodes where I invite incredible mystic dog mamas to come on the podcast and talk about their stories, and how their dogs, or in today's case, dogs and horses, have had an impact on their lives. It's an opportunity to explore the variety of ways animals are impacting us, and it's one of my favourite parts of the podcast. Today's guest is Rhiannon Anderson. Rhi shares her experiences of living with Muscular Dystrophy, and how equine therapy and a connection with horses, -in particular a beautiful Clydesdale mix named Larry - have helped her to navigate a world that isn't built for disabled people. She talks about the ways Larry has helped her experience profound emotional and healing breakthroughs, and given her the confidence to step more fully into an expanded version of herself. Rhi also talks about her beautiful border collie, Millie, who acted as both a physical and emotional support, and even learned some useful tricks like pulling off Rhi's socks, even if she did get carried away with it! Rhi also shares how she developed her blog, Living Abled, as a way to deal with the fears and stresses during Covid, and how this personal project ended up catalysing a whole community, and led her to starting her own life coaching business to help support other people in their struggles. At just 24 years of age, Rhi is an incredible young woman who is such an inspiration! I know you're going to love hearing her story, and I hope you are just as inspired as I am by her! And, just before we get started, a quick reminder that this episode is supported by Aspirationery, which, in full transparency, is another project of mine where we create books, notebooks, and stationery to help you become all you aspire to be.
