Lester Kiewit speaks to Stephen Price, Principal at Lotus High, about the recent video showing disturbing acts of school violence. A shocking video has surfaced on social media, showing a young boy being choked until he loses consciousness, while another widely shared clip captures a group of boys and girls attacking a lone female student. The footage has sparked outrage and deep concern among parents, educators, and the broader community. Mr. Price confirmed that a SAPS case has been opened, and Grassy Park SAPS has identified the boy in yellow, who is not a Lotus High learner, with appropriate action to follow. All identified Lotus High learners in the video have been suspended and will attend disciplinary hearings on Saturday morning. The school is following due process in dealing with the learners in accordance with regulations and remains deeply dismayed by the violence. The Dangerous Impact of Progressive Education on School Violence: An Interview with Neil Erian In today's episode of The Rational Egoist, host Michael Liebowitz sits down with Neil Erian, a former math teacher and current engineer in the aircraft industry, to discuss a controversial yet pressing issue: the connection between progressive education and the rise in school shootings. Drawing from his recent article for Capitalism Magazine, titled "Product Safety Alert: Progressive Education," Erian argues that the erosion of discipline, merit-based evaluation, and individual responsibility in schools has fostered an environment where violence is more likely to occur. Together, they explore how educational philosophies that reject objective standards and emphasize collectivist ideals have far-reaching consequences on young minds and, ultimately, on the safety of schools. Tune in for an in-depth conversation that challenges the conventional narratives surrounding both education and school violence. Michael Leibowitz, host of The Rational Egoist podcast, is a philosopher and political activist who draws inspiration from Ayn Rand's philosophy, advocating for reason, rational self-interest, and individualism. His journey from a 25-year prison sentence to a prominent voice in the libertarian and Objectivist communities highlights the transformative impact of embracing these principles. Leibowitz actively participates in political debates and produces content aimed at promoting individual rights and freedoms. He is the co-author of “Down the Rabbit Hole: How the Culture of Correction Encourages Crime” and “View from a Cage: From Convict to Crusader for Liberty,” which explore societal issues and his personal evolution through Rand's teachings. In this episode Shawna and LaLa navigate School Violence and Apocalyptic Anxiety. The girls dive into the alarming rise of violence in schools. From a shocking incident where a 13-year-old boy brutally assaulted his classmate to another student's online threat to bring a gun to school, Shawna and LaLa fearlessly dissect the troubling trends plaguing local educational schools. But amidst the chaos, there's a celestial event on the horizon: the solar eclipse scheduled for April 8th. While most are eagerly anticipating this rare phenomenon, LaLa's anxieties are once again stirred as she contemplates the possibility of an impending apocalypse or societal shutdown. Coincidentally, schools are also planning early dismissals on the day of the eclipse. Is this mere happenstance, or could it be a sign of something more sinister? Tune in as Shawna and LaLa navigate through the complexities of modern-day life, from societal issues to celestial wonders, with their signature blend of wit, insight, and a dash of skepticism. #shawnaandlala #solareclips #solareclipse2024 #april8th #schoolviolence #endoftheworld #apocalypse #apocalypse2024
