In episode 24, we review Lisboa by Eagle-Gryphon Games. To start off the episode, we chat about the games that are bringing us joy: Hansa Teutonica, Let's Go! To Japan, Compile: Main 1, and…learning the rules. On November 1, 1755, Lisboa suffered an earthquake of an estimated magnitude of 8.5–9.0, followed by a tsunami and three days of fires that almost completely destroyed the city. Players take on the role of influential nobles who will help in the reconstruction and economic development of the city to receive graces from the King and the Marquis. You will work with the architects to build Lisboa anew, with the Marquis to develop commerce, and with the King to open buildings–all in the pursuit of gaining influence and the most important thing of all: wigs.Connect with us @ https://lnk.bio/BoardGameHomies
In Episode 10, we review Kanban EV by Eagle-Gryphon Games and discuss our first and second impressions of the game. To start off the episode, we chat about what's bringing us joy: Euchre, trick taking games at the Portland Game Collective Convention, Root, and the hope that Becky will play more games with friends. Working on an electric vehicle assembly line, we dedicate time to train towards certification, and we select car designs to upgrade and eventually test–all the while stocking the warehouse with necessary parts in order to then assemble cars for R&D in Kanban EV. All of this is to prepare to be evaluated by our supervisor, Sandra, as she inspects each department throughout the week and eventually schedules meetings to discuss our performance goals. We all agree this game is super thematic, AND you don't have to be interested in middle management or cars to enjoy the play (but it's okay if you are [Angela!!])! If you enjoy big, thinky games, definitely give Kanban a try if you get the chance. Impress Sandra and find us on instagram @boardgamehomies

I once saw a video of a woman driving a Shelby GT350 Mustang on the Autobahn. It hit 275 kph without breaking a figurative sweat, roaring its primal power the entire way. I was petrified even watching the video. This is to say nothing of the terror I felt seeing it take offramps at roughly 100 kph, which is not terribly advisable with a vehicle that is not known for its cornering. Of course, there are many sections of the Autobahn with speed limits--and even more with no Mustangs on it at all. Tragedies heaped upon tragedies.Games Played Last Week:00:54 -boop. We take no time off for Boxing Day here at SVWAG, a day so named because according to the common law of the King (still feels weird saying that) citizens of the Commonwealth are permitted to punch someone in the face on this day only. It's like a pugilistic The Purge but with the metric system and occasional poutine. The news this week features a number of exemplary game titles. Many a stellar game has crossed our paths purely on the strength of its name, whereas others are so generic as to defy searching. Go ahead, find R on Board Game Geek, or the game Quest. Say what you want about the evils of filthy lucre, but I find it amazing how managers turn communitarian and high-minded when it comes to fair remuneration. "Don't you believe in the project?" "Aren't you committed to the team?" et al get deployed all the time when people want to, you know, get compensated for their work. One can't help but notice that racialized workers and women get subjected to such nonsense at a higher-than-average rate. Volunteerism is noble and good, but stiffing workers is not. When someone is trying to elide the difference, you can bet that they're up to something.Games Played Last Week:01:12 -Wonderland's War (Tim Eisner, Ben Eisner, & Ian Moss, Druid City Games, 2022)04:36 -Fantasy Realms: Deluxe Edition (Bruce Galssco, WizKids, 2022)08:55 -Lands of Galzyr (Seppo Kuukasjärvi and Sami Laakso, Snowdale Design, 2022)12:12 -Horizons of Spirit Island (R. This week I tell Julius about the rather large Kanban EV. This game is a re-implementation of the original Kanban and designed by Vital Lacerda. This quite complex and challenging game was rather fancily produced by Eagle-Gryphon Games. We talk about the game play and mechanics of the game without getting too deep into the details of how to play. Kanban EV (BGG, Eagle-Gryphon)
The dam has burst, and the flow of large player-count games rushes without signs of abating. We are willing to be sufficiently foolhardy to gather in larger groups, so the demand for 6+ player games has skyrocketed; and with it, the chance to return to old favourites. One of the great tragic modern misapprehensions of history is the blanching of fascism. It seems that people can watch Attack on Titan and play with their space marines, and simply because there are no swastikas to be found they assume that there are no connections to fascistic ideology contained therein. This is one of the reasons why we so appreciate the humble cucumber sandwich--we would assert that its very fragility and delicacy evoke anti-fascism. Whether one ought to use butter or cream cheese is of great doctrinal import, of course, but we're not gonna get all dogmatic about it.01:47 AYURIS: Undaunted: Normandy (Trevor Benjamin & David Thompson, Osprey Games, 2019)Games Played Last Week:05:07 -Riftforce (Carlo Bortolini, 1 More Time Games, 2021)07:55 -Ark Nova (Mathias Wigge, Feuerland Spiele, 2021)10:21 -1846: The Race for the Midwest (Thomas Lehmann, GMT Games, 2005)20:33 -Railroad Tycoon/Railways of the World (Glenn Drover & Martin Wallace, Eagle-Gryphon Games, 2005)22:20 -Llamaland (Phil Walker-Harding, Lookout Games, 2021)24:53 -Res Arcana: Perlae Imperii (Thomas Lehmann, Sand Castle Games, 2021)27:49 -Faiyum (Friedemann Friese, 2F-Spiele, 2020)30:08 -Regicide (Paul Abrahams, Luke Badger, & Andy Richdale, Badgers from Mars, 2020)31:03 -Dinosaur World (Brian Lewis, David McGregor, & Marissa Misura, Pandasaurus Games, 2021)36:28 -Too Many Bones (Adam & Josh Carlson, Chip Theory Games, 2017)40:11 -Sentinels of the Multiverse (Christopher Badell, Paul Bender, & Adam Rebottaro, Greater Than Games, 2011)42:26 -Ankh: Gods of Egypt (Eric M. Then Don and Jamie jump into a feature review of Martin Wallace's Struggle of Empires from Eagle-Gryphon Games. Tony T collects and delivers a bonkers series of news articles and currently running Kickstarter projects while the gang chirps in the background. All right, we need to talk about Sokka. Another staple of kid's shows is often The Annoying One. I don't know why, but they're often there. Steven Universe had Ronaldo, but they knew to use him sparingly. Sokka is so aggressively obnoxious in the first two episodes it is a miracle anyone makes it to episode three. He could have just been the complainer, but additionally his monumental and gratuitous misogyny is so bad that one wonders what Suki (an awesome character) ever saw in him. Sure, he gets better, but always in my mind the Early Days Sokka looms over the show like some terrible shadow.00:59 AYURIS: On Mars (Vital Lacerda, Eagle-Gryphon Games, 2020)Games Played Last Week:02:33 -Cryo (Tom Jolly & Luke Laurie, Z-Man Games, 2021)07:22 -Red Outpost (Raman Hryoryk, Lifestyle Boargames Ltd, 2019)11:38 -Cantaloop: Book 1--Breaking into Prison (Friendemann Findeisen & Grzegorz Kobiela, Lookout Games, 2020)15:36 -Brass: Birmingham (Gavan Brown, Matt Tolman, & Martin Wallace, Roxley, 2018)19:14 -Clever Cubed (Wolfgang Warsch, Schmidt Spiele, 2020)21:09 -Sleeping Gods (Ryan Laukat, Red Raven Games, 2021)23:38 -PARKS (Henry Audubon, Keymaster Games, 2019)27:16 -Shards of Infinity: Into the Horizon (Gary Arant, Justin Gary, Ryan Sutherland, Jared Saramago, Mataio Wilson, & Jason Zila, Stone Blade Entertainment, 2021)29:19 -Pickomino Deluxe (Reiner Knizia, Zoch Verlag, 2018)31:53 -Witchstone (Martino Chiacchiera & Reiner Knizia, R&R Games, 2021)34:48 -Empire of the Stars (Adam West, CrossCut Games, 2021)40:15 -The Grimm Masquerade (Tim Eisner, Ben Eisner, & James Hudson, Druid City Games, 2019)News (and why it doesn't matter):45:53 Fundraiser on Twitch for Food Banks Canada on October 2nd at 3 PM EST.Guests: No Pun Included, Board Game Barrage, the SVWAG crew! "I admit it's fairly dangerous, but I'd get to fly around like Iron Man." -Mark Watney Like Mark Watney from The Martian we go On Mars this week from Eagle Gryphon Games! On this weeks episode we are missing Board Boy Josh but listen closely and maybe you will hear him! Cam wants BGG to have better editing on it's game description page and check out our new restaurant named "4 Bens". Also Ben challenges Cam to a Haiku and he goes way to far as usual. Also Rob pops up with a fairly spoiler light review of the puzzliest puzzle game The Initiative!

... It's the devil inside I don't trust. We did a robbery. If any law enforcement are reading this, it was not a real robbery. It was a fake robbery. Well, still the same game as before, so let's talk about it. We also discuss recent news with Board Game Arena and talk about not punishing the behavior you want to see from people.

Sarah, Def and Adrian are joined by Perth-based illustrator and graphic designer Ian O'Toole. Ian shares with us some of his experiences with Eagle-Gryphon Games, collaborating with Vital Lacerda, and offers some advice for those interested in illustrating board games. In our Sizzling Games segment, Ian has been solving murders (or framing someone else!) in First Class: All Aboard The Orient Express, Def has fallen in love with Pipeline, Adrian has been dreaming of Steam Punk ever since he got to playtest Weather Machine, and Sarah has been card drafting and building castles in Between Two Castles of Mada King Ludwig In the Board Game Bracket, we resolve Brass: Birmingham vs Mansions of Madness. And once Adrian stops talking about Mansions of Madness we can finally tee up our next battle: Cosmic Encounter vs Everdell. Finally, in Swear An Oath, Def completed two oaths (Architects of the West Kingdom & D-Day The Dice Game) and swears an oath to play Clinic: Deluxe Edition, a game Ian worked on in 2019. And Ian gets in on the action by swearing to play Endangered and get it off his shelf of shame. We’re back this week with our picks for the best releases by Eagle-Gryphon games (with one very special exception for our newest Hall of Fame entry). But first, we discuss our question of the week: With the announcement that we're finally getting a Heroquest reboot, what's another old game that's yet to be rebooted that you'd like to see? In Acquisition Disorders this week, Anthony looks at Deck of Wonders and At the Table, he got a chance to play the Shadowed Paths expansion for Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth. Finally, in our feature, we look at 6 games that stand out as the best on offer from Eagle-Gryphon Games. Don’t miss BGA Live! once again on BoardGameArena.com and Twitch. We all met up in Nashville and played a ton of games! In our hotel we played Fire in the Library from Tony Miller and John Prather and published by Weird Giraffe Games, The Sherlock Files by Marti Lucas and Josep Izquierdo and published by Indie Boards & Cards, For Sale by Steffan Dorra published by Eagle Gryphon Games, and Tussie Mussie by Elizabeth Hargrave and published by Button Shy Games. We then traveled out to ... where we played Magic Maze by Kasper Lapp from Sit Down!, Formulae D by Laurent Lavaur and Eric Randall from Asmodee, and we finished up with Flamme Rouge by Asger Hardin Granerud from Stronghold! And to think ... after all that we still went out to a hockey game too!Post your comments to Twitter/Instagram @FirstTurnCast or email us at firstturntabletop@gmail.com. Please remember to rate, review, and subscribe! Until next week, play more games!

Welcome back to another episode of board game impact. My name is Bruce Brown and what we seek to do here on board game impact is to tell you about the experiences that were having in this mazing hobbies that way, you can make informed decisions for yourself and for your gaming group. And how we do that is we apply our, some of our educational backgrounds at looking into this, and I say we because there's a co host and his name is I'm Josh Isringhausen co host and together both of us are sharing our experiences that we're having in this wonderful hobby and Josh with that. How about we just jump right in and tell this nerves about some of what we've been playing lately? What's something for you? Sure. So the first thing I wanted to bring out today is a game. I'd actually been trying to get to get my hands on for a while now probably since BG con last November. And that is Tayo t-, what con- city of. Gods? So this is designed by Daniel skinny believe is the way his last name's for nounce them. Forgive me if I'm wrong published by NS Kate in games. Teotihuacan is a a. Really interesting hasn't really interesting mechanics to the, the core. Concept of the game is you are building the. Here amid that is at the center of Teotihuacan Teotihuacan is. A city from the Mayan culture in Mexico or not Mexico gonna draw blank on where that cities, located I got home keep gone. It is a. Pyramid that you are building on the tape are on the board with these almost like Mahjong tiles. There's some really interesting ways in which you're placing than this disgorge you points based on some, some character designs that are on top of them as you build upwards to this pyramid. And in order to do that, you are taking your workers which are dice and moving them around the board collecting resources and researching new technologies and. Building some decorations all different ways in which you're ultimately scoring points. The thing that really intrigues me about this game is the way in which your workers are placed on all your all of your workers or on the board at the start of the game. And as you move them around the board, you will actually age them starting at a one, and then moving to a two three four five and then ultimately allowing them to ascend to the heavens, as they become elderly and old, and then come back to bring you some positive points or rewards, a few age them out. So there's some really, really interesting choices and ways in which to play a game I had a blast with this one. This is the spiritual successor to Zolkin, which is. By the same designer his initial game. Also, based in that mindset, lose -ation, right? And so just really quick Teotihuacan. The real thing is a vast mic Mexican as you were right...

In Episode 12, we take a behind-the-scenes look at board-game development with Charlie Bink, former creative director at Eagle-Gryphon Games and owner of Bink Ink Games. We talk about how, as an artist, he got into game design, how he created Trekking the National Parks (12:37), and what he learned from Kickstarter and how he's now helping publishers use amazon to distribute their own games (49:52). We also talk about what we played recently (22:42), and why Charlie loves HQ Trivia (1:04:40).

We post new episodes every other Thursday, with each episode being about 45 minutes long. Vox Republica is proudly supported by our Patreon. Consider contributing today! DESCRIPTION: Gaming can sometimes be seen from the outside as a childish or selfish pastime. Contrary to that thought, however, the hobby is actually known for charitable acts both large and small. On the heels of one such event, this week Erin and Ryan discuss Extra Life and a few other board game charity events that take place this time of year. For donation links, please check down below! GUESTS: None RECENTLY PLAYED GAMES - (01:35): Lisboa by Eagle-Gryphon Games (BGG Link) Flamme Rouge by Stronghold Games (BGG Link) Downforce by Restoration Games (BGG Link) That's A Question by Czech Games Edition (BGG Link) QUICK TOPICS - (20:37): We recap our annual Extra Life charity marathon held at CR headquarters! Anthony is taking over this week with three big, heavy games! In an all-brain-burning, all-puzzle-euro special, Anthony takes a look at three big games he's been playing lately, including the behemoths of Vinhos Deluxe and The Gallerist from Vital Lacerda and Eagle Gryphon Games, and the smaller, yet wonderfully innovative Tramways from Alban Viard. Anthony will walk through what he likes and doesn't like about each of the three games and their solo variants, while Jason asks questions and wonders at theming, questionable components, and play time. If you're a fan of big heavy euros and like to play them solo, or have been wondering how the solo modes pan out in some of the biggest games released in the last couple of years, this episode is for you.
You probably already know that Brent and Nathan love deckbuilders while Ryan is pretty particular on the subject. The Meeple Nation hosts sit down and discuss three small box deck builders. Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Kings: Afterlife, and Valley of the Kings: Last Rites are all standalone (with interchangeable parts) games from Tom Cleaver and AEG. Playable in under an hour for 2-4 players. Players gain points by obtaining then entombing item cards. Best played with three (maybe four), this game requires you to entomb (place in a scoring pile) the powerful cards you had previously bought. Dale of Merchants is a cute little game from Sami Laakso and Snowdale Design. Each of the two games, Dale of Merchants and Dale of Merchants 2 comes with six animal sets, allowing each game to be different as different animal sets are combined. It is playable in under an hour for 2-4 players. Xenon Profiteer is a game from T.C. Petty, III and Eagle-Gryphon Games. It is also playable by 2-4 players in under an hour. Most turns players will add air to their hands then try to remove the unwanted elements while fulfilling contracts and upgrading their distillery.
Sorry it's been a while, had some personal issues to deal with lately! But let's talk about happy stuff. . . . mostly. Today it's not all about Xmas, it's instead about Eagle Gryphon Games, where I give you two brand new reviews of some Essen releases from this publisher. Morocco and Continental Divide, one I like, one I hate, have a guess which ones! 01:03 - Introduction (long wait, game room, future video prospects) 09:08 - Morocco Review 16:56 - Continental Divide Review 28:37 - Conclusion
In this episode of Quick Looks from The Long View, Elhannan Lloyd Keller and I investigate two new titles. First up is Kraftwagen V6 edition from Stronghold Games. Does this game deserve shelf space along other games of similar theme like Automobile, or is it just more of the same? Listen to hear out impressions and thoughts of this new edition. Finally, we end by discussing the newest title from designers Ben Pinchback and Matt Riddle, Morocco. Is this game a worthy successor to the awesomeness of Fleet, or does it fall flat? Listen to hear our opinions about this new title from Eagle-Gryphon Games. Thanks, as always, to my sponsor www.gamesurplus.com, your first and best choice for online purchases and hard to find import games. #gamesurplusimports4u! Episode 108: 2016 Predictions Length: 35:39 Show Links: RSS | iTunes | Stitcher | Download Episode Welcome back to Vox Republica, the Cardboard Republic Podcast! We post new episodes every other Thursday, with each episode being about 30 - 40 minutes long. DESCRIPTION: It's a brand new year! This week, Erin and Ryan look back at some of their gaming predictions of 2015 to see how close they came (or not) to guessing gaming trends of the year, and then make some new predictions for 2016. GUEST: None RECENTLY PLAYED GAMES: None. No, really. Not a single one. We are super sad. Silly holidays and togetherness and whatnot. QUICK TOPICS: We give a brief recap of the recent Asmodee announcement regarding their consolidation of their business side of the US side of Asmodee, Fantasy Flight Games, and Days of Wonder into Asmodee North America. We briefly explain what their changes to logistics and distribution means for consumers, if any. It appears the years-long feud over the rights to Brass between designer Martin Wallace and Eagle-Gryphon Games has come to a conclusion. FEATURED TOPIC: It's 2016, which means it's time for all sorts of 2016 predictions. Are they wild guesses or educated methodical extrapolations of notable trends in the industry. We'll see! But we dive into what some of those may be. We also recap our 2015 predictions (see Vox episode 67 for the full rundown) to see how close we came to seeing how the year panned out. PLUGS: If you were curious on the Brass/Lunarchitects parallels article, you can find it here. The CR has hit three years! Keep an eye on all manner of changes to the site over the first few months of 2016! As always, Cardboard Republic YouTube videos and the BGG Guild are still ongoing. In Episode 36, Craig celebrates the first year of the show and discusses three games that keep hitting his table. First up is Steampunk Rally, a Dice-placement, card-drafting, engine-building racing game of a time, published by Roxley Games. Next up, is Loop, Inc. the game of time-travel-for-profit, released by Eagle Gryphon Games. Lastly, he digs in to a spoiler-free run through of how Pandemic Legacy works, and why you should own it. Right. Now. Also feel free to stick around after the outro for a spoiler HEAVY recap of the first four months of Craig's campaign with his family! In episode 35, Craig pairs up two Word/Deck Building games in a comparison of mechanics and gameplay. First he talks about Paperback from Tim Fowers, the Dominion/Scrabble hybrid, and then he discusses Dexicon from Andrew Rowse and Eagle-Gryphon Games and the new concepts it adds to the almost stale deckbuilding genre. Lastly, Craig digs into Seven7s from Jason Tagmire and Eagle-Gryphon games, discussing its simple deck complexity. Also note, Craig is aware he is terrible at his job. Show Notes: Paperback (Tim Fowers): 8:30 Dexicon (Eagle-Gryphon): 20:30 Seven7s (Eagle-Gryphon): 38:04

In our first episode from SaltCON 2015 we talk with Rick and Joanne Soued about their history, creation of Funagain Games, aquisition of Eagle Games, and creation of Gryphon Games. Rick spends much of the interview telling us about many of the current games available through their company including Tumblin-Dice, Through the Ages, Baseball Highlights 2045, and many more. We greatly enjoyed the time we spent with Rick and Joanne and hope to spend more time playing Eagle-Gryphon Games.
In this episode of The Long View, I am pleased to be joined once again by Damian Gatortuba as we discuss the venerable classic, Axis and Allies. What is the place of this game in the hobby? Does it still have gaming goodness to offer us? Is mass market distribution the only reason for its success? Find the answers to these questions and more in this episode. As a bonus, I review two new titles: Tiny Epic Defenders from Gamelyn Games, the new cooperative hotness from the Tiny Epic world, and Baseball Highlights: 2045, the new face of baseball from designer Mike Fitzgerald and published by Eagle-Gryphon Games. The Tiny Epic Defenders review can be found at the 1:19:30 mark of the episode, and the review for Baseball Highlights can be found at the 1:33:30 mark of the episode. Thanks, as always, to my sponsor www.gamesurplus.com for their continued support of the show, thanks to The Dice Tower and thanks, of course to YOU for listening! The mighty weremoose is a solitary creature, peaceable until roused to anger. Its only known predator is the American military deciding to once again invade Canada for reasons. When threatened, the weremoose rises to its full bipedal height of 6 meters, whereupon its sheer Chad-esque magnificence causes other creatures of the forest to quail and flee. Soldiers in the presence of this manifestation of the weremoose have been known to spontaneously reconsider their enlistment and retire on the spot.Games Played Last Week:01:45 -Cysmic (Jason Blake, Star Reach Games, 2023)12:26 -Summoner Wars (Second Edition) (Colby Dauch, Plaid Hat Games, 2021)16:21 -Weather Machine (Vital Lacerda, Eagle-Gryphon Games, 2022)18:02 -Skytear Horde (Giacomo Neri and Riccardo Neri, Skytear Games, 2023)21:04 -League of the Lexicon (Stavros Damos and Steven Noble, Two Brothers Games, 2021)26:02 -Turncoats (Matilda Simonsson, Milda Matilda Games, 2021)28:20 -Tribes of the Wind (Joachim Thôme, La Boîte de Jeu, 2022)News (and why it doesn't matter):33:01 Three Ring Circus by Fabio Lopiano and 33:54 Silver Bayonets by Joseph McCullough gets the Canada expansion by Ash Barker34:58 Mantic wins best title award: Dungeon Saga: Origins Legenday Edition35:19 Gatefall Monsters on Gamefound36:00 Allies have to do a better job making gaming spaces inclusive, especially at tournaments39:53 Feature Game: The Wolves (Ashwain Kamath and Clarence Simpson, Pandasaurus Games, 2022)Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We are very proud of our strict editorial standards here at SVWAG. Among them is our firm stance on Monty Python references, which are very firmly circumscribed. Philosophers are mentioned all the time, but never the song; and similarly we discuss Mozart here (in two different media!) without any kind of passing gesture to his decomposition. People have tried to smuggle in other references to the show, but those responsible have been sacked.Games Played Last Week:01:34 -Dice Hospital: ER--Emergency Roll (Matthew Dunstan and Brett J.
