After 15 years, Tamice went on to found Sub: Culture Incorporated, a nonprofit that provides holistic support and crisis relief for Black College Students. In addition to their Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Copywriting (Virginia Commonwealth University), Tamice has a Masters of Arts in Contextual Leadership and a Masters of Arts in Theology. Over the years, Tamice has been a change-maker and pioneer for young people in her community. Throughout their life, Tamice has connected, supported, and ministered to countless young adults. Her friendly and down-to-earth approach to public speaking and teaching, as well as their dedication to theological study, has helped empower and inspire people in her community and beyond. Tamice lives in Richmond with their spouse Ellison, her daughter Harlym and their puppy Beacon Rey. Baxley was ordained to gospel ministry in 1993 at his home church of First Baptist Church on Fifth in Winston-Salem, N.C. Baxley and his wife, Jennifer, a licensed physical therapist, have four children: Olivia (age 17), Maria (age 11) and twins Caroline and Matthew (ages 8). Baxley has also held a variety of leadership roles with CBF partner organizations including the Board of Visitors of Mercer University's McAfee School of Theology (member, 2012-2018 and chair, 2015-2016); Board of Directors of the Baptist House of Studies of Duke Divinity School (member, 2006-2012; chair, 2009-2010); and the Board of Directors of the Center for Congregational Health (member, 2004-2010; chair, 2009). In 2012, Baxley gave the Lawrence Hoover Lectures at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and delivered a sermon titled “Preaching as Participation” at the Mercer Preaching Consultation.Mark Snipes is the Coordinator for CBF of Virginia. Mark was born and raised in the small town of Rockmart, Georgia in the North Georgia mountains. A graduate of the McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia, Mark worked in local church ministry for seven years before becoming Missions Coordinator for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia in October 2013. In 2017, Mark's position was broadened and his title was changed to Associate Coordinator. Professor Rah and I have the opportunity to discuss. Bio:Rev. Dr. Soong-Chan Rah is Milton B. Engebretson Associate Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL and the author of The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural Captivity (IVP Books, 2009).Rah is formerly the founding Senior Pastor of the Cambridge Community Fellowship Church (CCFC), a multi-ethnic, urban ministry-focused church committed to living out the values of racial reconciliation and social justice in the urban context. Soong-Chan has previously been part of a church planting team in the Washington DC area, worked for a number of years with IVCF in Boston (specifically at MIT), and had mobilized CCFC to plant two additional churches.He currently serves on the board of Catalyst Leadership Center and Sojourners/Call to Renewal. He has been an active member of the Boston Ten-Point Coalition (an urban ministry working with at-risk youth) and is a founding member of the Boston Fellowship of Asian-American Ministers. He has extensive experience in cross-cultural preaching as well as on numerous college campuses. She earned her bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Duke University with a double-major in Russian and Middle Eastern Studies. During her time at Harvard, she was selected, as a grant recipient through the Ramez and Tiziana Sousou Fund, to join a group of 13 students from across Harvard's graduate schools to travel to Jordan and embark on an assessment of the dilemmas facing humanitarian actors responding to the war in Syria. She was also the recipient of the best thesis prize for her department. Suzie is a published author and has over a decade of experience living and working overseas, most recently having spent five years in Lebanon managing relief and development projects for refugee and internally displaced populations in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.Sy Hoekstra is a former attorney who worked as a public defender in the child welfare system in New York City. Before that, he was a Staff Attorney at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Sy graduated cum laude from New York University School of Law in 2014. During law school, he worked in the fields of criminal justice and disability rights. In 2010, he earned his bachelor's degree in History and German literature from Columbia University. After graduating from Columbia, he spent a year organizing college students for political advocacy in Washington, DC with International Justice Mission. Sy was born in North Dakota, grew up in the Midwest and Northeast, lived for several years as a teenager in Zurich, Switzerland, and now lives in New York City with his wife.Jonathan Walton is a Senior Resource Specialist with InterVarsity's Multi-Ethnic Initiatives Department. He leads InterVarsity's Experiential Discipleship Team which exists to develop and commission leaders with the character and capacity to partner with God to change the world.
