It's finally the spooky season once again, and as is tradition Stuart and Jacob will be bringing the horror this October. They've already touched on two Universal monsters in the past, so why not bring in who is arguably the most famous of them all? I mean, a comedy pseudo-sequel just came out earlier this year, so what better time to mirror the Frankenstein/Young Frankenstein episode than this pick? Also in this episode is Stuart's disenfranchisement with Starfield, the loveable ham that is Nicholas Cage, more of The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, and what background character would Stuart and Jacob give their own movie? All this and more on They Remade It! Plot Synopsis Timestamps: 29:47 - 41:25 ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter theyremadeit@gmail.com

This week I look at the classic Larry Blamire film, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra from 2001. This delightful comedy is a parody of 1950s-style science fiction B films.  Written and directed by Larry, it stars Fay Masterson, Andrew Parks, Susan McConnell, Brian Howe, and Jennifer Blaire. You don't know the Lost Skeleton but you will! “This horrible mutilation has a whole lot of people on a whole lot of edges.”

Why did it take nearly two whole seasons to get to this very special, near and dear to Emily's heart? No one can know. There's just a lot of weirdness in the universe. Also you should stop right now and go watch this movie with zero context before listening because Emily and Ky are spoiling absolutely everything. Not just the movie: also the truth about artificial gravity, the fourth dimension, and nearly the address of where they work. If there's aliens involved, you know they gotta go to the space corner! You can also learn how directions work in Venice, and get a sneak preview of Emily and Ky's new children's book. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wineweedweird/message

It's the last week of our birthday series, and we're wrapping up with a household comfort movie: Larry Blamire's indie b-movie parody, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra from 2001!This movie (and its sequels) stand apart from other bad-on-purpose parodies, and we're here to talk about how it achieves that through its dialogue, structure, music, and yes, love. We're campaigning to bring back free coffin giveaways at the cinema, and Charles Bronson pops up where you least expect him.Anyway, next week we're ringing in Labour Day with Michael Mann's Thief (1981)!

To celebrate our move to Thursdays, and April Fools, we're doing a theme month. Every episode featuring a different film that imitates the style and tropes of an earlier decade, Pastiche films in other words. For our first episode this month we're talking about The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001) a loving sendup of low budget 50s sci-fi and horror films. This film has it all. Aliens! Mutants! Psychic Skeletons! Science! Amish Terrariums! Made in some of the same locations as films like Robot Monster, Larry Blamire and company make a pitch perfect black and white film that would blend right in with anything on MST3K or Rifftrax. We break down all the things they got right, and a few missteps along the way before answering the most important question in film: Is it entertaining? So join host Wyndham Jennings for another look at a forgotten cinematic classic on Celluloid Fever Dreams, where the films you haven't heard of get turned into your new favorites. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/celluloidfeverdreams/support

I briefly discuss the scene in this episode, so if you find these things upsetting or triggering, then feel free to skip this week. We'll be talking about Lost Skeleton of Cadavra next week. She Beast (1966) is this weeks film. The story of a woman possessed by a 200 year old witch. Her husband and a witch hunter must stop the witche's rampage through the Transylvanian countryside without the authorities finding out, and without hurting the witch, since that would kill the possessed woman. They must exorcise the witch before the anniversary of her death passes, or risk losing the innocent woman forever. One of only three films by Michael Reeve, we break down what works in this horror-comedy, and what hasn't held up over the years. The core story is very interesting, but do they manage to pull it off? All this and more will be revealed in this week's Celluloid Fever Dreams! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/celluloidfeverdreams/support

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 61st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Watching Terrible Movies," I open with reflections on the recent passing of Terry Jones, and celebrate some of his iconic work with Monty Python's Flying Circus. In my "Friday Night Feature," I talk about "Fata Morgana," a first-season episode of "Sanctuary" on Syfy, and chat about some of the strengths and weaknesses of the show at this stage of its production. I trace Cross Connections to the show, as well as Terry Jones' work, and appearances by Nicholas Brendan and Marc Vann in "Criminal Minds." In my Classic Collection, I talk about Monty Python sketches I was cataloging as I learned of Jones' passing. Also, David Alan Grier's Comedy Central production "Chocolate News," and some Daily Show and Colbert Report's interstitial tomfoolery called "Who's the Toss?" In my Current Collection, I talk about the animated reproduction of an original series fourth season serial of "Doctor Who" from the Patrick Troughton era, "The Macra Terror," then trace some of those themes through some more recent episodes, along with comments on "Fugitive of the Judoon." I then chat about "Supernatural," "Superstore" and "The Magicians," and explore a few thoughts about the series finale of "The Good Place" -- just ... wow. In "VideoFuzzy at the Movies," I chat with Jesse Zimmerman of "The Average Movie Nerd" blog in the title reference for this episode, to wit: Watching Terrible Movies. We got together and watched "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" (2001) "Hail Caesar" (1994), "Rockula" (1990) and "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (2008) and then ... discussed them. Finally, in Upcoming Shows, a look ahead at the return of "Miracle Workers: The Dark Ages" on TBS, "Better Call Saul" on AMC and "The Sinner" on USA, premieres of "Briarpatch" on USA and "Indebted" on NBC, plus "Birds of Prey" opens in theaters, looks like a fun romp. Enjoy!

Spielberg's shooting style, that was paramount to me, one of them practically Xeroxed her rolodex, anything I could do - I did, Tony Scott, laying the groundwork, a cast of small town lunatics, Larry Moss, Summer stock theater in the Poconos, Fay Masterson, striking up the band, David Mamet, Trish Geiger, one big scene with Denzel, working in tandem, Kevin Spacey, Spy Hard, America's most beloved action figure, the quiet scary moments, Jim Carrey, State and Main, the bloom is off the rose, it was tremendous fun... blood all over the place, Frank Darabont, The Conjuring Universe, hours were long... temperatures were torturous, it was like the biggest most lumbering independent film I'd ever been involved with, when a casting director goes the extra mile, Kerry O'Malley, fly wrangler, that's how we got our revenge for his, rather indelicate criticism... of our work, a benevolent madman, K-Pax, snow in Pasadena, straight and kind of silly or full absurd, messing with Gabriele Muccino, a sustained level of dread, had to have a fake car to pick him up, one thing, with persistence, does actually lead to another, Will Smith, a state of trust, houses can have bad mojo, Clint Eastwood, my favorite... boy I'm making a Hollywood movie moment, Jeff Bridges, shooting for a dollar and a bucket of chicken, gettin' the laughs and singin' the songs, self-consuming hybrids and Tom Hanks goes mad.
