Sailing the winds in your sky pirate ship, you and your crew land on a different island each day, looking for treasure, adventure and glory. You need to be fast though, because you're not alone. Other ships in the fleet have followed the same course and they want their share of the varied loot. If the crew member you send to the island is too slow, they will not come back with valuable treasure, but with a terrible curse or worse, they will not return at all. Only the best pirate will make it in Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest by Paolo Mori from Stonemaier Games. Welcome, and welcome back to our usual format, with episode #45 of The Last Standee podcast! In the catch-up, the team talks about upcoming fulfillments, events and small in-house disaster, then the rattiest rat-based episode begins! First, Audrey talks us about A War of Whispers, a great area influence game where hidden powers manipulate forces at war on the map, in a game of shifting loyalties and compelling decisions which lasts about an hour (!). Then it's Alessio's turn talking about Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest, the 2022 remake of the classic game by Paolo Mori - a perfect mix of medium brain-burning and intense backstabbing mayhem (in a few weird words, the "furry sky pirates" game)! Finally, we go back at the good ol' times of the Great Plague with Villagers, and it's Fen's turn to introduce us to this light-hearted, addictive village-building, profession-spanning game!
Cultisit! Se il DBC fosse un super villain, quale sarebbe il suo scopo ultimo? Ricoprire il mondo con l'oscurità e il disagio? Accogliere tutti nel voluttuoso abbraccio dell'empietà? Dico io… perché no? Boom. La tua mente è NOSTRA. Paolo Mori special, Ducaconte, Kickstarer fichissimo, bluff e ruoli nascosti. Enjoy. Buon ascolto e come sempre… Ci vediamo dall'altra parte!

Feliç 2019 a tots i totes!

Sometimes, dear listeners, the news does matter, and in such instances our hosts feel under-equipped to address them properly. Such is the nature of crippling incompetence. We here at SVWAG take acronyms very seriously, but sometimes get carried away with such abbreviations. As a public service announcement, allow me to remind all of you that TI:4 stands for Twilight Imperium 4th Edition. It's been a confusing week, to say nothing of the mess.Games Played Last Week:-Quantum 1m00s (Eric Zimmerman, Funforge, 2013)-Spheres of Influence 2m23s (Josh Lamont, Little Nuke Games, 2016)-Lords of Hellas 3m37s (Adam Kwapinski, Awaken Realms, 2018)-Core Worlds 4m24s (Andrew Parks, Stronghold Games, 2011)-Ethnos 7m03s (Paolo Mori, CMON, 2017)-Sakura Arms 11m41s (BakaFire, AEG, 2017)-Empires: Age of Discovery 13m28s (Glenn Drover, Eagle-Gryphon Games, 2015)-Too Many Bones 16m33s (Adam Carlson & Josh Carlson, Chip Theory Games, 2017)News (and why it doesn't matter)-Jettisoning Arcadia Quest into space 19m33s-More Clank, more space 21m02s-Cosmic Encounter is the answer to life, the universe, and everything 21m21s-Giant Azul 25m40s-Last contest reminder 26m55sFeature Game: Bag-Building Bonanza 27m30sHyperborea (Andrea Chiarvesio & Pierluca Zizzi, Asterion, 2014)Orleans (Reiner Stockhausen, dlp Games, 2014)Altiplano (Reiner Stockhausen, dlp Games, 2017)Topic: Rating Systems 55m27s

Walker acts on his firm conviction that sympathy is for the weak, and the internet seems to endorse this position. Fueled by Mark's misery, the pair utter a great deal of words on the topic of Rising Sun, which has had a firm grip on their gaming time of late. They then decide to move on to matters of history and politics, which are always safe topics. Nothing could possibly go wrong.Games Played Last Week:-Arcane Academy 3m49s (Eric Lang & Kevin Wilson, IDW Games, 2016)-Dogs of War 5m26s (Paolo Mori, CMON, 2014)News (and why it doesn't matter):-Deep in deep trouble 11m04s-Star Trek Ascendancies yet further 16m19sFeature Game: Rising Sun 18m12s (Eric Lang, CMON, 2018)Topic: Inappropriate Themes 53m22s

It is a well-known fact, observed by Infinity: the Game, Across the Spider-Verse, and Undaunted: Battle of Britain, that a Sikh man in uniform is always a good look. So here's to pilot Singh in his Hurricane! Not to mention Sergeant Singh in his power armour, and Captain Singh in his Spider-Man movie (in my heart, it is his film).Games Played Last Week:01:01 -The Defence of Procyon III (Dávid Turczi, PSC Games, 2021)11:02 -That's Not a Hat (Kasper Lapp, Ravensburger, 2023)14:49 -Beyond the Sun: Leaders of a New Dawn (Dennis K. We get introspective this week, or at least as much as the editorial gibbons allow. If we get too deep they get nervous, and as every podcaster will tell you, nervous gibbons are bad for the show. Walker, Mark alleges, is a masochist who sacrifices himself on the altar of speed, which may or may not mean game flow; Walker counters that Mark abuses the takesies-backsies. 01:50 AYURIS: Imperium: Classics and Imperium: Legends (Nigel Buckle & Dávid Turczi, Osprey Games, 2021)Games Played Last Week:06:13 -XenoShyft: Dreadmire (Michael Shinall, CMON, 2017)11:24 -Raccoon Tycoon (Glenn Drover, Forbidden Games, 2018)16:01 -Dwellings of Eldervale (Luke Laurie, Breaking Games, 2020)20:37 -Code of Nine (BakaFire, Z-Man Games, 2012)22:47 -Akropolis (Jules Messaud, Gigamic, 2022)25:47 -Ortus Regni (Jon Sudbury, Jon Sudbury Games, 2014)29:11 -Rallyman: DIRT (Jean-Christophe Bouvier, Holy Grail Games, 2023)38:21 -Resist! As employers, we gamers are a strange lot. We are expected to feed our workers, house them, give them their raw materials; we tell them where to go, when to work,a nd for how long; we subject them to fires, predation, starvation... and on top of all this, in some games we appear to confiscate all their wages! At least in Food Chain Magnate we occasionally allow them to go to the beach. Under strict supervision. Until we permit them the sweet release of death. I mean, until they "retire." Yeah, that sounds better.Games Played Last Week:01:24 -Air, Land, & Sea: Spies, Lies, & Supplies (Jon Perry, Arcane Wonders, 2022)02:59 -Tinners' Trail (Martin Wallace, Alley Cat Games, 2021)06:09 -Skytear Horde (Giacomo Neri and Riccardo Neri, Skytear Games, 2023)11:31 -Great Western Trail: Argentina (Alexander Pfister, eggertspiele, 2022)16:57 -The Stygian Society (Kevin Wilson, APE Games, 2020)21:56 -Company of Heroes (Bryan Kromley, Bad Crow Games, 2021)29:05 -Voyages (Matthew Dunstan and Rory Muldoon, Postmark Games, 2021)31:53 -Woodcraft (Ross Arnold and Vladimír Suchý, Delicious Games, 2022)News (and why it doesn't matter):33:58 Potential SVWAG-Con poll! https://forms.gle/R7pDHNnx5EQXgSUh834:40 Support content creators that you like! Is there a difference between a fruit salad and a fruit cup? I mean, the first question is whether a fruit cup contains a fruit salad, or if the contents are some other substance; then one can query whether the cup and its contents are a gestalt whole. Let us not forget the prospect of a fruit cup of Theseus, whereby each fruit piece is removed and replaced with an equivalent fruit (I would ask what an equivalent fruit is, but that's getting sidetracked)--is it the same fruit cup? Heraclitus would say you can't take a bite of the same fruit salad twice. There's the somewhat absurd possibility of a fruit cup of Damocles--presumably the fruits therein would have been prepared by Procrustes. What I'm getting at is melon is gross.Games Played Last Week:00:53 -Just One (Ludovic Roudy & Bruno Sautter, Repos Production, 2018)01:04 -So Clover!
