Social media isn't social at all. A better name would be, "Antisocial Media" since the anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide rates have skyrocketed since the supposed social media started with MySpace in 2003 and Facebook in 2004. Listen to the stats and you'll have no choice but to agree...social media is hurting our kids, especially our tweens and teens
In this episode of "Breathwork, Business, and Happiness," host Chris Erthel interviews Jordan Lejuwaan, creator of the viral "50 Life Secrets and Tips" and founder of High Existence. Jordan Lejuwaan is the founder of the museum Zerospace, the blog High Existence, the app Slash, the company Futurism, the fashion startup Rave Nectar, and the company Internet Game. "Competition between the Morally Unfit and the Mentally Unfit." That was Bret Stephens' take on the U.S. presidential race. We spoke of the race and of immigration, including what Stephens described as "legitimate criticism" of the Biden administration as well as Stephens' own family history and realizing the American dream. He also spoke of the need for control of U.S. borders and a wall and the need to bring people in in a regularized way to apply for visas in a way that does not overwhelm. "We need immigrants," Stephens said and from there we went to reproductive rights which Stephens believes won't have the impact it did in the last election. Our conversation went on to Jews and Zionism and Anti-Zionism as the new Anti-Semitism and parallels of the present to the Second World War and Stephens' views that "Ukraine will change the nature of warfare" and Europe's turn to the Right and the present as "a Dreyfus and Herzl moment." Social media, Stephens said, should be called Anti-Social Media because it allows fanatics to find one another. He made his position clear in condemning students who support Hamas and made clear, too, that he blames the professors even more as well as outside money supporting encampments. Stephens then addressed how democracy allowed technologies to be born and take root in the U.S. Who, he asked, would buy Russian and he stated, "China will never overtake the United States" and he said the biggest threat from China is their decline. We went back to discussing immigration and the need for assimilatory capacity and the presidential race and the need there for a system that produces better candidates. We concluded comparing Mozart and Beethoven and The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
It's getting extremely difficult to differentiate between feelings in the cyber world and the real world. I mean, how do you know the true intention of someone who communicates with smiley faces blowing heart kisses, or gushes copious amounts of tears when they find something to be funny, yet won't return your phone call for four days? Come to think about it, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard I cried. I wish it happened more often. I think I'm starting to get it, though. These icons represent a version of what that person is intending to feel, so it is our job to know this and just go with it. It is a sentiment they wish they were truly able to experience, but so extreme that actualizing it is unrealistic. However, so long as we all know what the intended emotion is, than that makes them an amazing person who understands the gravity of the moment, which quantifies them as incredibly thoughtful, interesting, and intuitive. Even though they are not interesting at all. You see, what I find in real life is that if you're caught crying, or laughing too hard, you're perceived as weird and awkward, and therefore avoided. Like someone might not feel comfortable looking you directly into the eyes with piercing meaning and giving you a hard hug, so they'll cheer you up by texting you an eyeball, a heart, and a female sheep. But to actually say “I love you” is on a level that is far too personal. Which makes things weird and awkward, and therefore avoided. What we've become is a society bent on connecting through emojis. I'm pretty sure they mastered that craft thousands of years ago in Egypt when it was called Cuneiform. Now we have something called evolved language, but nonetheless have resorted back to hieroglyphics. Sometimes I wish these people's minds would literally blow. Or is that the emoji for when you puff the world's most amazing bong hit? I can't fucking tell anymore.

Self elevation leads to shame and abasement, which is exactly what social media is based on. Humbling yourself will lead to being exalted in the eyes of the Lord. He glorifies those things which are secret and sacred, while social media is constantly disclosing those secrets. There's No Business Like... Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav now admits that striking writers were correct in their demands for sweeping changes in how creatives are compensated in Hollywood. Dana Carvey, a comedian and actor best known for his time as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” has announced that he will be taking a break from work and social media after the death of his son. Dex Carvey died of an accidental drug overdose at his L.A. County home on Wednesday, his family confirmed to People Magazine. He was 32 years old. Anti-Social Media. A score of Jewish celebrities are criticizing TikTok following a surge of antisemitic rhetoric going viral on the social media app following Hamas‘ Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel, which has culminated in some young people supporting 9/11 terror leader Osama bin Laden. Over the past few years, we've borne witness to a series of pivotal global events, from the COVID pandemic to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as well as many natural disasters. Just when it seemed that things could not get worse, Hamas launched an attack on Israel. With so many tragedies following so closely after one another, some of us may be finding that as much as we want to engage with what's going on, we have no more sympathy left to give and would rather switch off from what's going on around us. If you've been feeling this way, just know it doesn't mean you lack sympathy for others. Rather, it may be a sign that you have “compassion fatigue”.

In the latest episode of Wildly Successful Law Firm, law firm expert Nermin Jasani shares some valuable insights on how to market your law firm beyond social media. Here are three key takeaways:- Have a "kill switch" in place for social media investments if certain goals are not met.- Know who your target audience is and create good content.- Don't waste time trying to get clients off social media.Social media is not necessary to get clients, only a small number of law firms are successful with Instagram and templates for social media do not bring in clients. Jasani encourages law firms to think critically about their marketing strategies and invest time in reaching out to past clients personally for referrals and building relationships with them. Stay tuned for next week's episode! #lawfirmmarketing #socialmedia #targetaudience #clientrelationships

What would the Founders think of social media's unlimited and instant communication across the country and around the world? Would they try to regulate it? From what authority could the Founders and subsequent government actually regulate social media? What are the main differences between social media entities and TV or radio which use public spectrum to broadcast? These are questions worth pondering as we discuss the government's role in social media in today's chat. We are honored to welcome our guest, Carl Szabo, Vice President and General Counsel of NetChoice and Adjunct Professor of Internet Law at George Mason Antonin Scalia School of Law and our student panel for this informative and lively chat.

Many of us have been sucked into the abyss of social media over the past decade with the expectation of keeping up with friends, connecting with people from our past, and spying on our ex's. The benefits of this interaction are at the core of why so many people choose to participate. However, when the service is free, sometimes that means that YOU are the product, and these social media platforms have used their customers to generate vast amounts of data that is being sold to the highest bidder. This information is used to target advertising specifically to suit the needs of the individual user in hopes that they will buy the product or service being offered. The dark side to all of this is that sometimes that information is used for more nefarious purposes and ends up in the hands of social engineers that seek to control humanity. Has social media made society less social, and what are the ramifications of this transformation on humanity?
