My steroid dose for my adrenal insufficiency has changed a lot in the 14 years. Unknown reason for sever dehydration sent me to the ER yesterday. It was chronic illness showing me how things can change quickly. Doctor's and nurses were great listening to me. However it was tough communicating as I was delusional and scared. Being prepared was helpful as we grabbed my hospital bag knowing we had everything we needed. Today this pickle turns 49 and I cannot be more excited to be on the verge of 50!! Seriously I am I excited about turning 50 next year!! And I have a new perspective to share with you. I was diagnosed with ADDISON'S DISEASE, a rare life threatening disease on March 14, 2011. I remember the overwhelming feeling of doom and death taking over my body. I remember telling my doctor I knew my kids were going to wake up one day and find me dead if we don't figure this out. I was 35 years old. Without that diagnosis I probably wouldn't have made it to 36. Without my steroids I take everyday I wouldn't make it to tomorrow. Everyday I am on LIFE SUPPORT. My steroids are my life support. Without them I do not exist. Without them I die. Everyday is a gift to me. Everyday is a BONUS DAY I wasn't suppose to have. I have BIG plans for turning 50 physically and emotionally. My steroid dose for my adrenal insufficiency is not standard. My current dose is high and is from years of careful alternations to my dose with my health care team using clinical findings and my perceived quality of life. Although HIGH and NOT TYPICAL my doctor feels this is the IDEAL dose for me. I have no signs of excess steroids and maintain a high quality of life. Last week I attempted to google the author to make contact with no luck. Today I dug a little deeper to find a Facebook page.
