When it comes to healing anxiety, should you choose therapy or coaching? Is one better than the other? This is a question I get asked all the time, and the answer isn't as simple as you might think. In this episode of The Ease Anxiety Podcast, I break down:✅ The key differences between therapy and coaching for anxiety✅ Why most people only address one part of anxiety (and why that's not enough)✅ What therapy does well—and where it falls short✅ What coaching can offer that therapy doesn't✅ The 3 parts of anxiety you must heal for lasting changeMost people don't realize that anxiety isn't just one thing—it has three distinct parts. And if you're only addressing one (or even two), you're not getting the full picture of what it takes to heal.
If you've been trying to think your way out of anxiety, it's time to flip the script. In this continuation from last week's episode, we dive deeper into the truth that anxiety isn't just in your mind—it lives in your body. And that's where real healing begins.Join me as we explore three practical, body-based frameworks to help you break the anxiety cycle by creating a sense of internal safety, reconnecting with your nervous system, and interrupting the alarm signals that keep anxiety looping.
Not all anxiety is the same. There's ordinary anxiety—the kind that comes and goes when you're facing challenges, big changes, or new experiences. And then there's stuck anxiety—the kind that lingers, loops, and makes you anxious about being anxious. In this episode of The Ease Anxiety Podcast, I'm breaking down the clear signs of stuck anxiety so you can recognize if you're caught in the cycle—and, more importantly, how to break free.Inside this episode, you'll discover:

Our focus is on the critical journey individuals must undertake to reconnect with their inner wisdom, highlighting the challenge many face when seeking external validation or guidance instead of looking within. As we explore this theme, we emphasize the importance of embracing one's own expertise in navigating personal needs and feelings. Dr. Letterman introduces the concept of the nine pillars, a framework designed to help individuals realign with their internal landscape. By identifying and nurturing these pillars—self-awareness, sleep, nutrition, activity, play, connection to family and friends, work and purpose, spirituality, and the natural world—we can cultivate a holistic sense of well-being. The discussion elaborates on how attending to these areas fosters resilience and joy, particularly when faced with life's inevitable challenges. #anxiety #selfcare #mentalhealth #wellness #mindfulness #emotionalregulation #stressmanagement #innerpeace #personalgrowth #healing #coaching #therapy #psychology #neuroscience #communication #relationships #parenting #children #education #health #lifestyle #happiness #joy #fulfillment #purpose #meaning #spirituality #nature #connection #community #support #resilience #hope #inspiration #motivation #transformation #growthmindset #selfcompassion #selfacceptance #bodypositivity #mindfulliving #holistichealth #integrativehealth #lifestylemedicine #functionalmedicine #nutrition #exercise #sleep #play #family #friends #worklifebalance #boundaries #compassion #empathy #nonviolentcommunication #mbsr #act #dbt #cbt #GinaRyan #ACP #AnxietyCoachesPodcast Learn more about your ad choices. Remembering what his dad told him that 'results matter' and because he was trained in engineering school to know how to engineer and invent solutions to complex problems, Daniel took a stand against the mental health industry and started his company Permanent Anxiety Solutions with the goal to see if it was possible to invent and reverse engineer a process that could solve anxiety permanently. To skip solo intro: @11:03 In this episode, we get to meet Megan Hawkins, one of the Co-Founders of BetterU Psychedelic Therapy. She joins us from her home in Los Angeles, where she and her partner Derek Du Chesne have been recently working on opening the first brick-and-mortar location for BetterU. Once an international model, Megan's life took a dramatic turn when she was shot at 19 yrs old. She entered the mental health system, was prescribed a mountain of medications, and like many, was overdiagnosed and overmedicated. Seeking solace from significant trauma, she left modeling for a career in mortgages and real estate, finding success but not fulfillment. Her battle with depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and PTSD persisted until 2021, when she discovered the life-changing potential of ketamine therapy. Now, she's a support and integration coach at Better U Psychedelic Therapy, using her journey to connect with and guide others on their path to recovery. The team at BetterU works with those suffering from PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression to strategically treat these disorders with a whole treatment plan that surrounds this substance known as ketamine. Ketamine is a psychedelic non-psychedelic that, when paired with the right set, setting, intention, and work - provides a very large percentage of its patients with positive results in their overall mental health.Perhaps you've never heard of this 'ketamine', or psychedelic therapy even, and you've never taken psilocybin - and you're wondering 'Magic mushrooms to heal my depression?' 'A horse tranquilizer for healing trauma?' 'LSD to relax?' 'Molly for my grandpa's night terrors?' 'Dude, what?' - Well, strap in because this one is for both the newcomers and the seasoned psychonauts. We're here to talk about making a diary entry, taking dissociative drugs, putting on a full blindfold, and laying on your back while headphones dance beautiful music through you - and just how the heck that could possibly heal depression.I gave Ketamine Therapy a try myself a few months back. I found this company called "BetterU" and went through the whole process of 8 at-home sessions. I loved the way this company set everything up so well that I sent an email to interview one of them. Luckily Megan was available, and she joins us here to share her wisdom and perspective. Megan started modeling when she was 15. Traveling internationally and ramping up her career, at 19 she found herself in a nightclub unknowingly sitting behind a well-known gangster, when there was an assassination attempt on that gangster from a shooter on the balcony above. Megan was struck by a stray bullet, and her life began to unfold quite differently from that night. She shares some of her personal journey and lays out how she's landed herself in the orbit of ketamine therapy and psychedelic healing many years later. Ketamine isn't just about the dose or the drug, 'Set' and 'Setting' are as important as the substance. BetterU gives you the playbook and structure for the most fruitful set and setting. The setup that's done prior to the trip changes the entire thing. I tried to shape this episode as informative to newcomers as a way of introducing Ketamine Therapy to those who haven't experienced ketamine, and emphasizing the difference between the use of Ketamine as a street drug/horse tranquilizer vs. in a therapeutic environment. We start this episode with info about BetterU and Ketamine. Megan talks about what led to BetterU and we talk about the importance of taking Ketamine and psychedelics seriously, and the value of care and quality. She lays out the process of taking ketamine therapeutically, how long we take the drug, how many sessions per week, she lays out some fantastic analogies and examples that are easy to grasp and I try to add my personal experience as it relates to what Megan is explaining about Ketamine. We covered if you can go to work after a ketamine therapy session, if you can drive, if it hurts your stomach, it's safety, she talks about the process of setting up a trip, taking it with stimulants and medications, and if SSRI's and ketamine can go together. We talk about fasting, diet and preparation, about having a trip monitor, the importance of journaling for healing and how it seems to work, we talk about the music that drives the session, things to expect and experience during the trip, using the breath as an anchor, 'going crazy' and the fear of bad trips, those who shouldn't do psychedelics, some of the screening process, fear of the loss of control, Megan shares her traumatic experience that altered the course of her life, her journey of healing and suffering after the initial trauma and how it's changed her, shifting and adjusting to new identities and versions of ourselves, and much much more. For more on BetterU checkout their social media pages @betterucare and https://www.betterucare.com/Some notable quotes from the episode:"We tend to focus on the big things that we're coming to this treatment for. 'I'm severely depressed, I have crippling anxiety, how do I get rid of these huge things?'. We want that magic pill to fix us and heal us. We want it to go away. But the way that this really works, is it starts off slow. It's the little things that start trickling in, they start compounding into the bigger things. Psychedelics, they tend to give us what we need, not necessarily what we want. A lot of the times we have to go through the things that we need in order to get to the things we want.""I think that in life it's about 10 percent of what happens to you and 90 percent how you react or respond to things. Things are just going to happen. You could not have prepared for it, there's absolutely nothing you could've done to avoid it or change it. That's the way of the world. The world, it's got a mind of it's own, it's going to keep on spinning, so why get out and push?""You worked so hard to have this armor, to put on this mask, that protects you from any external threat. Not knowing that sometimes the biggest threat is inside our armor, it's inside our minds." "It's not only just the physical set and setting that you're in, it's the MIND-set you're in going into it. If you're going into this feeling closed off, just like with any experience in life, the expectations or pre-conceived notions you go into any kind of experience with is more likely than not going to be the outcome." - "Yeah, you'll find ways to make that true.""I lost my professional purpose, then romantic, then my last sense of freedom since when I had initially moved away from home. So at that point, that's where I hit my real rock bottom.""Over the past 9 years I've been learning every step of the way. I'm never gonna not be learning, mental health is a journey not a destination. A lot of us don't tend to remember as often, we're like "I just wanna get here, then I'll be good!" but, it's like no, no, no - we're fluid creatures, we're constantly changing and evolving, always trying to be a better version of who we were yesterday. It's reminding people that it's so easy to be so hard on ourselves. "Why can't I just GET it together?" "Why can't I just be this?" "Why am I always doing this to myself?" - it's important to remember that the only way out, is through. You have to be patient with yourself, you have to give yourself grace. It is okay to not be okay.""I'm working with patients, I'm talking with them, when they are that rock bottom place in themself when they're first coming to this treatment for whatever the reason is, whatever they've gone through, whatever pain or trauma - everybody has a different and unique experience. I will never pretend I know exactly what it is that you're going through, what your experience is. It's always going to be unique and individual to yourself. But what I do know - is that the ways in which us as human beings react and respond and try to deal with and process pain and trauma and suffering, there's a lot of overlap in the ways that we feel, and things we're trying to do."Here are a few more resources I liked that I found surrounding Ketamine Therapy: - How Does Ketamine Work Differently from Other Psychedelics?https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-lucid-mind/202105/how-does-ketamine-work-differently-other-psychedelics- Ketamine: Benefits and Risks for Depression, PTSD & Neuroplasticity | Huberman Lab Podcasthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxmv7rT9leo&t=1s - All Things Ketamine, The Most Comprehensive Podcast Episode Ever — Dr. John Krystalhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1igJRZlqy70Just a fun little thing I wrote -"Imagine this: You're laying on your back in a comfortable pile of blankets and pillows, you've just journaled for 45 minutes and the writing seemed to fall right out of you. You've just done some breathing exercises and even a short meditation. You've cleared the calendar, you've accomplished the family's daily checklist, and you have the rest of the day entirely to yourself. Now imagine in your comfortable horizontal setting that you're also wearing headphones, and a blindfold too.Inside the headphones play beautiful curated sounds that guide and drive you, like a passenger - through a mesmerizing and awe-inducing view of the universe. Your body is relaxed, the mind swallows you with comfort. The music tells a story and you seem to be the main character of that story. A story within a simply complicated universe where you feel intimately accepted, loved, and well - like a special piece of the cosmos itself. From what feels like the inside of the pitch-black blindfold, with your eyes open or closed - is a sea of symbols, shapes, colors, and patterns - patterns that dance and move through you. Through the blindfold and into your body and spirit. You feel held, and safe to let go into the experience. Your body dances and elegantly wriggles naturally as it pleases. You pay no toll to the thoughts of tomorrow, enticements from fear, or feelings related to control of the ride. You remain held by this experience for about a hundred and twenty minutes. The music slowly fades, you can hear the sound of that black fan in the corner of your room. The room that's in your loving home, the room attached to the bathroom, which your bladders whispers to you about. You wiggle your toes and find familiarity, you're firmly in the warmth and comfort of your own bed. You've just completed your first ketamine therapy session. What a ride. You feel both tired and energized while new perspectives and experiences flood through you. You are held and you are free. Tomorrow brings a cleaner windshield for the journey ahead. You feel like tomorrow is okay, and maybe so are you. "

Episode Highlight: In this episode, I'm sharing with you my first experience with the sacred cactus medicine, Grandfather Peyote. This was a very special medicine sit for me, and was also a very unique, non-traditional sit with this medicine. I've always been fascinated with Peyote, and its primary compound mescaline, and when an opportunity came up to connect with this medicine and take this sacrament, I was honored. This episode provides you with an overview of Peyote, along with taking you through my first journey experience in working with this medicine. Again, it was certainly unique, and felt quite different than my other medicine experiences! So, if you're eager to learn more about the psychedelic medicine of Peyote, what a ceremonial experience could look like, the benefits it could offer, and what some blessings could unfold during this experience, then this episode is for you! As we focus today's Scripture Meditation of Psalm 103, we can turn our anxiety and trauma, pain, and fear, into praise and greatfulness. As we focus on the blessings God has already provided and who He is, we can speak truth and life into the core of our beings, orienting us in a healthy posture before the Lord who is capable of all good things and the giver of all good gifts.
I am having Leonora on to speak with us. She is with DTB horizons. And she's actually been on twice before. But it was at the end of the conversation on episode 86. Pause and pivot where she mentioned that she works through hypnosis with people on helping them heal from anxiety, pain and trauma that made me want to have her on again to speak further into this. In April, we were touching on anxiety. And I wanted to make sure that she was able to come on and speak with us on tips to help us through this. If any of you deal with trauma or pain, she can work with you. And this is not hypnosis like you might think of it. So she dives deeper into that as well to kind of explain how she can help you even online work through these past traumas and events that may be creating anxiety and pain in your life. Some of the questions we discuss:-What do you believe the underlying cause of anxiety is?-How do you help people with healing the Trauma in their life?-Do you feel everyone has some underlying trauma they could heal?-How does this trauma show up as anxiety in our lives?-If someone is nervous about hypnosis where could they begin with you?Learn more from Lenora:Lenora Edwards Speech Language Pathology Coaching and Professional Hypnosis - Lenora Edwards (wpengine.com)Grab her guide on: Stop Anxiety NowHead to www.raisinghealthyhumans. com to learn moreJoin our Free FB Community:Moms Raising Healthy HumansJoin our Community events:Healthy Mom CommunityLearn about our Movement Snack Podcast:5 Minute Mornings (buzzsprout.com)or follow me on IG or Tik Tokcourtney_formfitVoiceover Intro: SJ RockiEditing: SJ Rocki

Episode Summary After everything we've been through in the past few years, anxiety in our population is at an all-time high. You may have felt it yourself. Dr. Tâmara Castelo has seen this firsthand with her patients. After over 12 years in her career as a doctor, once the pandemic hit she had to shift her way of working. She needed to figure out the best ways to reduce anxiety in her patients to provide the best support through such a highly stressful time. As an expert in Chinese medicine, she has tons of experience helping others move out of a state of anxiety. And she helps patients understand how to become more attuned to their bodies. This helps reduce anxiousness, tension, stress, and discomfort. We often forget to connect with our body or really tap into what our body needs. So often, stress and anxiety can actually present physically in our bodies. Understanding what these physical manifestations mean can help us get to the real root of the problem. In this podcast, Dr. Castelo teaches us about how our body tries to speak to us when we're constantly experiencing things like anxiety and perceived stress, pain, or migraines. She'll also dive into the discussion of sleep, and how to prioritize it to help manage our physical and mental health. She'll explain to you the secret to the optimal amount of sleep you should get every night. If you've been dealing with anxiety, migraines, body aches, or stress– this podcast is for you. Dr. Castelo teaches us so much about looking into your body and recognizing what it needs. You can make these observations of your body through powerful rituals that Dr. Castelo explains further in this show. She goes deeper into this concept in her book The Power of Rituals: Small Habits, Big Changes for your Well-being and Health. But listen to this podcast now to immediately start implementing these simple and effective rituals to ease your anxiety and improve your life! Quotes “When we can understand our bodies, we can really learn how to heal.” “One of the things that I love so much, especially for women, is rituals that help them to reduce burnout, stress, and anxiety and overwhelm.” “People think that the overload is when you are going through [an anxiety attack], but it's not actually– it's the effect after that is the problem” “We've got to be more tuned in with our body and especially our physical body– and really connect into that deeper sense of ‘what is going on'. Because that's going to really support setting in the rituals and doing the things that are really going to support us.” Resources Mentioned Dr. Castelo's Book: THE POWER OF RITUALS: Small Habits, Big Changes for Your Well-Being and Health Dr. Tamara Castelo's Website Connect with Dr. Castelo: Instagram, Youtube Related Episodes #397: Start Getting Deep, Restful Sleep Tonight with These 5 Hacks #222: Approachable, Effective Strategies for Managing ANxiety Even During Difficult Times with Cameron Rogers #180: How to Overcome the Anxiety Pandemic by Managing Your Mindset with Dr. Joan Rosenberg #144: Using Breath to Heal Anxiety, Addiction, and Much, Much More with Samantha Skelly #99: Learn How to Not Just "Cope" or "Manage" Anxiety, but Truly Say Goodby to Anxiety for Good with Stephanie Dalfonzo

In today's episode, Gina discusses the importance of cultivating mindfulness in order to heal anxiety using a Blinkist of Jon Kabat-Zinn's Wherever You Go There You Are. Gina shares a number of methods for "being" in the moment rather than "doing" and thereby increasing your mindfulness and your ability to heal your anxiety. To learn more go to: http://www.theanxietycoachespodcast.com Join our Group Coaching Full or Mini Membership Program Learn more about our One-on-One Coaching What is anxiety? Quote: Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of the present-moment reality. It wakes u up to the fact that our lives unfold only in moments If we are not fully present for many of those moments, we may not only miss what is most valuable in our lives but also fail to realize the richness and the depth of our possibilities for growth and transformation. -Jon Kabat-Zinn Learn more about your ad choices.
