Andrés Gomez Emilsson is the director of the San Francisco–based Qualia Research Institute (QRI), a nonprofit developing formal models of consciousness and emotional valence. QRI's research aims to untangle the harmonic, computational, and symmetry-driven mechanisms underlying phenomenological experience. They approach the optimization of subjective experience through two powerful psychotechnologies — psychedelics and meditation — using them to explore the state-space of mind and map the structure of qualia. In this conversation, we discuss the phenomenology of enlightenment, the non-local field effects of consciousness, and one of Andrés' side projects: how perfumes and smells modulate perception and emotional geometry. (1) fill your emotional tank, even if you fill it yourself, (2) hold the space for your partner to be okay with having a bad day, and (3) table the conversation if it's clearly not a good time for it. That list sounds simple, and it is, but during this podcast Dr. Shaw illustrates and illuminates each of those three building blocks of a relationship with emotional well-being.

If you've ever felt like your body is falling apart and no doctor can tell you why—this episode is for you. I'm joined by Dr. Jaban Moore, a functional medicine chiropractor who's made it his mission to help people heal from the real root causes of chronic illness—especially the ones most doctors overlook. We get into two things that are finally getting the attention they deserve: nervous system dysregulation and autoimmune overwhelm—specifically Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and histamine intolerance. These are major reasons so many people are struggling with fatigue, food sensitivities, inflammation, reactivated viruses, and mystery symptoms that get dismissed as “just anxiety.” Dr. Jaban shares his own health journey and breaks down: The difference between histamine intolerance and MCAS Why your anxiety, pain, or fatigue might be coming from emotional trauma or nervous system chaos How foundational habits (sunlight, sleep, slowing down) matter more than any supplement Whether elimination diets and food sensitivity tests are healing or just bandaids If you'll ever be able to eat an avocado or tomato again (hint: yes, but not overnight) How to know if you're actually herxing… or just making things worse If you've been told your symptoms are “all in your head,” this conversation will feel like a breath of fresh air. You're not crazy. You're not broken. And yes—healing is possible. We all experience moments when emotions overwhelm us, especially if we have trapped emotions that build up over time. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel overloaded with anxiety, stress, and negative news. How can we find balance and set boundaries to protect our well-being? In this episode, I sit down with Vanessa Shippy, an expert in energy work and emotional healing. Vanessa is dedicated to helping individuals release trapped emotions, cultivate self-awareness, and create a more balanced life. Through her work at Dawning Hope, she guides clients on their healing journeys by integrating energy healing, mindset shifts, and self-care practices. We discuss how emotional buildup affects our nervous system, why setting energetic boundaries is essential, and how self-compassion plays a key role in emotional well-being. Vanessa shares real-life experiences from her clients, practical tips on processing emotions, and ways to stay grounded despite life's challenges. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, or emotional overload, this conversation will provide actionable insights to help you regain balance. Tune in for an enlightening discussion! --- Listen to the podcast here: Finding Balance and Emotional Well-Being with Vanessa Shippy Welcome to Action's Antidotes, your antidote to the mindset that keeps you settling for less. Today, I want to talk to you about a common situation where we have some trapped emotions, and what I mean by that is you want to get some stuff done, you have an important meeting maybe or even just a list of tasks that you would really like to accomplish and do well, yet something someone said or something someone did just kind of stays tracked in your mind, like it triggered you in a way, and you don't even oftentimes know why do I keep thinking about that but you just can't stop thinking about it. Why was her tone of voice like that? Why did he slam the door? Etc. So, today, I want to talk to you about how we can possibly get past some of these and other energetic and balanced situations by introducing to you my guest, Vanessa Shippy, and she is the founder of Dawning Hope. --- Vanessa, welcome to the program. Hi, thank you for having me. Thank you and welcome to Action's Antidotes. First of all, tell us a little bit about Dawning Hope. Yeah, so Dawning Hope is my business. I'm honored to serve in a way. I get to offer intuitive energy reading, clearing, balancing, and channeling sessions, and I'm actually also currently putting together resources and a guide to help people come into touch with their own energy and body. I typically will encourage this through like nervous system regulation and emotional processing, like through gaining knowledge and restoring balance to the mind, body, and spirit as a whole. I myself went from bedridden to feeling better than I ever have. My vision for my business is to let others know that even after the darkest night, the sun always rises and the dawn brings new hope. With my initial statement, am I even thinking about it properly? Because I guess I was thinking about a situation where, okay, this person said something like this, this person was in a bad mood and it's weighing in my mind, but is that even the situation or is it about something way more than what happened yesterday, what happened this morning that I just can't stop ruminating on? Yeah, so that can be more of the effects of what maybe actually happened. Typically, some of our deepest, you could say, traumas or trapped energies will occur in childhood. I personally have a theory that children are so open and, in openness, it's a gift but it can also be a vulnerability, and so, oftentimes, the way that they perceive the world is rather deep and they can internalize it more than adults might just because they don't have the same understanding or experience as adults. Say, if someone said something to you this morning and you're ...
This talk continues our Bhagavad-gita Wisdom Series with the topic: “Beyond Happiness & Distress – A Guide to Emotional Well-Being.”We explore two fundamental perspectives:• The materialistic view, which identifies the self with the body and mind.• The spiritual perspective, which sees the self as an eternal spiritual being temporarily residing in a body and struggling with the mind.According to yogic teachings, emotions arise from mental processes and are not intrinsic to the soul. These teachings emphasize the importance of tolerating desires and emotions rather than being controlled by them. This state of inner steadiness is likened to an ocean—remaining calm despite the many rivers that flow into it.The ancient wisdom of yoga introduces the concept of becoming an Atmarama—one who is self-satisfied—finding lasting spiritual happiness within rather than seeking temporary fulfillment in external sources.Meditation is a key practice for self-realization, accessible to everyone. The transformative power of meditating on transcendental sound can be compared to the sunrise dispelling fog, bringing clarity and insight. As yoga wisdom deepens, it reshapes one's perspective on life and relationships, leading to genuine peace and fulfillment. The verses which I quote from the Bhagavad-gītā: Some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all. Bhagavad-gītā 2.29 O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.14O best among men [Arjuna], the person who is not disturbed by happiness and distress and is steady in both is certainly eligible for liberation. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.15That happiness which is derived from contact of the senses with their objects and which appears like nectar at first but poison at the end is said to be of the nature of passion. - Bhagavad-gītā 18.38That which in the beginning may be just like poison but at the end is just like nectar and which awakens one to self-realization is said to be happiness in the mode of goodness. - Bhagavad-gītā 18.37A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires—that enter like rivers into the ocean which is ever being filled but is always still—can alone achieve peace, and not the person who strives to satisfy such desires. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.70Be steadfast in yoga, O Arjuna. Perform your duty and abandon all attachment to success or failure. Such evenness of mind is called yoga. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.48These are some additional verses which you might benefit from:One who is not envious but who is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor, who is free from false ego and equal both in happiness and distress, who is always satisfied and engaged in (loving)devotional service with determination and whose mind and intelligence are in agreement with Me-he is very dear to Me. - Bhagavad-gītā 12.13-14One who is free from illusion, false prestige, and false association, who understands the eternal, who is done with material lust and is freed from the duality of happiness and distress, and who knows how to surrender unto the Supreme Person, attains to that eternal kingdom. - Bhagavad-gītā 15.5One who is not disturbed in spite of the threefold miseries, who is not elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind. - Bhagavad-gītā 2.56For one who has conquered the mind, the Super Soul is already reached, for they have attained tranquillity. To such a man happiness and distress, heat and cold, honor and dishonor are all the same. - Bhagavad-gītā 6.7

Welcome to the Triple P Life Podcast! In this episode, Dr. Jay LaGuardia welcomes Dr. Bradley Nelson, the author of the bestselling books "The Emotion Code" and "The Body Code," to discuss the often-overlooked emotional component of overall well-being. Dr. Nelson explains how unresolved emotions can become trapped in the body, leading to physical ailments, emotional distress, and hindering the healing process. They explore the concept of trapped emotions, the "emotional loop," and how the Emotion Code can help individuals identify and release this emotional baggage to improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Episode Takeaways: Emotional well-being is a crucial element of overall health, alongside physical and spiritual aspects. You cannot be truly well if you neglect your emotional state. Unresolved emotions can become "trapped" in the body as energy, potentially manifesting as physical pain, disease, or emotional issues like anxiety and depression. The "emotional loop" describes the normal processing of emotions, but sometimes this loop gets stuck open, leading to trapped emotions. The Emotion Code is a method developed by Dr. Nelson to identify and release these trapped emotional energies using muscle testing and intention. Releasing trapped emotions can lead to significant improvements in physical symptoms, emotional well-being, and even the ability to forgive and move on from past hurts. Dr. Nelson has found that a vast majority of physical pain and disease processes have an emotional component. The Body Code is a more comprehensive system that addresses six categories of imbalances affecting health: energies (including trapped emotions), pathogens, circuits and systems, misalignments, toxins, and nutrition and lifestyle. The subconscious mind acts like a powerful computer that can be accessed through muscle testing to identify underlying imbalances. Dr. Nelson is releasing a new book called "The Heart Code" focusing specifically on "heart walls," which are emotional energies trapped around the heart that can hinder connection and well-being. 00:00 - Introduction to Emotional Well-being 02:14 - Introducing Dr. Bradley Nelson 04:38 - The Computer, Prayer, and Chiropractic 07:12 - The Emotional Loop Explained 09:51 - Releasing Trapped Emotions with Magnets 12:15 - *Emotion Code*: A Deeper Dive 14:40 - Consciousness, Awareness, and Trauma 17:22 - Deleting Emotional Energy 19:45 - Emotional Baggage in Animals 21:58 - Emotional vs. Physical Issues 24:10 - Training Practitioners in the *Emotion Code* 26:35 - Limitations of Western Medicine 29:01 - The Body Code System 31:18 - Symptoms and Imbalances 33:33 - Common Conditions and Open Loops 35:50 - Vibrational Tone Scale and Emotions 38:14 - The Hot Air Balloon Analogy 40:37 - *Emotion Code* vs. *Body Code* 42:50 - The Heart Wall and the Heart Code 45:18 - The Six Imbalance Categories 47:30 - Wrap Up and Contact Information Find all things Triple P Life by visiting the website. Can we talk about women masking at work? I spend a lot of time in conversation with women who are the only woman or one of very few women in the room at work. There is a fatigue and malaise that comes from being in this position long term - even if you enjoy and respect many of the men you're sitting beside. When a person is notably different from the majority of the people around them, they mask themselves to fit in, be taken seriously, gain a competitive advantage, and maintain safety. Here are some of the ways many women routinely mask in male-dominated workplaces: Altering vocal pitch and language Modifying speech patterns to avoid feminine speech markers and amplify masculine ones Dressing to look “good” but also professional, well kept, not too showy, not too sharp Having hair and makeup done in a way that suits the room vs suiting comfort Suppressing natural emotional reactions Avoiding vulnerability Maintaining a calm and demure demeanor no matter how heated others are getting Controlling facial expressions Laughing at jokes even if uncomfortable Participating in meaningless conversations (sports, tech, male-dominated hobbies) Dismissing or hiding personal interests and hobbies Avoiding or downplaying family situations Positioning self as “one of the guys” Avoiding asking questions or seeking help Many women are so conditioned to masking that they don't know they are doing it until they are in an environment where they no longer have to do it. One of the reasons I have built so many group coaching programs for women over the last decade is because of how deeply impactful it is when women come together and drop their masks. In this enlightening podcast episode, I engage in a profound conversation with Professor Norman Rosenthal, a renowned psychiatrist and author, known for his groundbreaking work in diagnosing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and exploring the therapeutic use of light. Join us as we delve into the intersection of psychiatry, personal narrative, and unconventional therapies that have the power to transform lives. What You'll Learn: Understanding Seasonal Affective Disorder: Professor Rosenthal reflects on his time at the National Institute of Mental Health, where he led research that culminated in defining and describing SAD. Initially met with scepticism, his work with light therapy to treat SAD was a revolutionary concept that gained widespread acceptance after successful replication across the globe. This therapy isn't just for SAD but has diverse applications, such as adjusting to new time zones during international travel. The Concept of Adversity: Another significant topic in this episode is Rosenthal's perspective on adversity, inspired by his book "The Gift of Adversity." He explores how challenges can serve as critical opportunities for personal growth. Paul’s mention of stoic philosophers like Seneca and Epictetus aligns with Rosenthal’s ideas, emphasizing that overcoming adversity is not only about surviving but also about gleaning insight and growth from the experience. The Power of Positive Contributions: Rosenthal speaks fondly of his contributions to psychiatry through his studies on light and SAD, recounting the inspiring moments when he realized he was on the cusp of a major discovery. The conversation highlights the profound satisfaction derived from scientific exploration and the impact it continues to have on improving mental health treatment. Alternative Therapies and the Poetry Connection: In his diverse therapeutic practices, Rosenthal incorporates unconventional methods, including poetry, as tools for emotional and psychological healing. His book "Poetry Rx" exemplifies how literary arts can resonate with individuals facing emotional difficulties, offering insights and comfort through the beauty of words. Emotional Well-being Through Curiosity and Engagement: Curiosity, according to Rosenthal, plays a pivotal role in maintaining good mental health. It's linked to the psychological trait of hardiness and helps in overcoming adversity. By encouraging curiosity, individuals can approach life's challenges with a more investigative and resilient mindset. Meditation and Transcendental Exploration: Rosenthal also dedicates time to exploring consciousness through transcendental meditation, believing that mindfulness can profoundly affect one's perception and quality of life. His books on the subject reflect an ongoing exploration of the mind's potential to transcend conventional boundaries. Key Takeaways: Seasonal Affective Disorder and Light Therapy: Understand how bright light became a recognized treatment for SAD and how it can improve various aspects of well-being. Adversity as a Teacher: Learn how personal trials can lead to profound personal growth and resilience. Integrative Therapies: Discover how poetry, philosophy, and meditation contribute to emotional healing and mental health. Curiosity as a Trait: See why maintaining a curious and engaged outlook is vital for mental well-being.
