POPULARITY
Mirell Høyer-Berntsen er optimistisk på vegne av SV. Men i denne episoden av Udjus&Blågis er hun også frustrert over at partiet ikke får kred for de politiske gjennomslagene partiet har fått.
Tommy Berntsen er stand-up komiker. Programleder: Sivert MoeSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/anger.

A former senior undercover CIA operative named Gary Berntsen has released a video in which he asserts, based apparently on first-hand knowledge, that machines widely used in elections across the United States are unreliable. The charges are not new. They include claims that Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez developed them to steal one of his own elections. And then, with help from others in Europe and China, the software and hardware were refined to engineer undetected desired electoral outcomes worldwide. What is new news is that Mr. Berntsen reportedly has not only personal insights into how we got here. He claims to have witnesses able and willing to confirm his allegations. If true, we obviously cannot have such compromised machines used in this fall's critically important elections. We must, instead, hand-count paper ballots cast in person by voters with valid government-issued IDs. This is Frank Gaffney.

Storytelling is not just a tool for entertainment; it is a powerful medium for communicating complex ideas in a relatable and impactful manner. In this episode of Beyond the Thesis with Papa PhD, Dr. Leslie Berntsen highlights why leveraging science communication is important, as a PhD, and how embedding your results within personal stories makes science more accessible and engaging to the general public. Adding this human touch to how we talk about science allows us to bridge the gap between the scientific community and non-academic audiences. Dr. Leslie Berntsen is a social scientist, once-and-former college professor, and the current Director of Education and Research at The Story Collider. She specializes in inclusive pedagogy, teaching social issues, and popular science communication and is the recipient of four national teaching awards from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology and the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues over a seven year period. (She tries to remain as chill about this as a person possibly can.) Leslie's writing has been featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Science, and The Huffington Post, and you can also find the earliest drafts of her forthcoming op-eds on Twitter – which she will stubbornly continue to use until the very last server crashes. Her high school debate team once named her “Most Likely to Color-Code Her Plans to Grassroots Resistance” and she has – with no effort required – been living up to it ever since. What we covered in the interview: The Human Side of Science: Through her work with Story Collider, Leslie aims to highlight the human side of science by tying it to personal experiences and real-life scenarios.Career Development through Storytelling: Leslie sheds light on the value of introspection and self-awareness in developing character and career skills. Whether it is for job interviews, academic presentations, or grant applications, storytelling can be a powerful arrow in a young researcher's quiver.Story Fellows Programs: Story Collider fosters initiatives that encourage university students to use storytelling for public scholarship and science communication. These programs involve workshops where participants craft and present their science-related stories on stage.
SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter
This episode of SANDCAST: Beach Volleyball with Tri Bourne and Travis Mewhirter, features two of Norway's Beach Volley Vikings: Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen. Hendrik and Berntsen are enjoying a normal learning curve and path to success, a several-years buildup that seems almost flat when compared to the rocket ship that has been Anders Mol and Christian Sorum. If the Olympics were to happen today, for the first time ever, Norway would have two teams in the Games. That's how good Hendrik and Berntsen – cousins – have become. We chat all about that, as well as: How Mathias Berntsen and Anders Mol predicted Norway would win gold at the Tokyo Olympics – in 2015, when they were still in high school Hendrik Mol's life of adversity, nearly going blind while playing for the University of Hawaii How Norway lost four sponsorships after winning gold at the Olympics, and why the Olympics may be taking too big of a role in beach volleyball What it's been like to be a part of the rise of Anders Mol and Christian Sorum and their meteoric rise And, as always, so much more. Neal Berntsen joined the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra trumpet section in March 1997, having been appointed at the invitation of Music Director Lorin Maazel in 1996. He is a native of Tacoma, Washington. He began his musical studies at age five playing the violin under the tutelage of his mother. By age eight he advanced to the trumpet and ultimately received a B.M. from the University of Puget Sound and a M.M. from Northwestern University. A former member of the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra and the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, Neal has also performed as Principal trumpet for the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra and the Bamberg Sinfoniker in Germany. Other orchestral performances have included the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Houston Symphony Orchestra. Active as a chamber musician, Neal is a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass whose recordings, “BACH: THE ART OF FUGUE” (1998), “A CHRISTMAS CONCERT” (2000), “THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS” (2003) and “A SONG OF CHRISTMAS” (2008) were described as “...Awhirl with color and rhythmic vitality – quite irresistible on every count.” by the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette. The recordings contain numerous arrangements by Neal Berntsen. Mr. Berntsen is also a founding member of the award-winning Asbury Brass Quintet, about which Fanfare magazine stated, “Not only expert but musical...undeniable virtuosity.” The ABQ's recording with Adolph Herseth is widely regarded as an all time classic. Mr. Berntsen has toured Japan with members of the Chicago Symphony brass section as the Chicago Brass Soloists. In 2017 Mr. Berntsen gave the Pittsburgh premier of James MacMillan's concerto for trumpet, Seraph performing with the Resonance Works Orchestra with the composer in attendance. In the summer of 2015 Mr. Berntsen premiered and recorded THE ANCIENT CALL for micro-tonal trumpet and orchestra written by Iranian-American composer Reza Vali under the baton of Keith Lockhart. Mr. Berntsen performed the piece on a specially modified trumpet, which enabled him to execute the Persian quarter tone scale. In 2018 his recording of THE ANCIENT CALL was named album of the year in Iran by Noise Magazine. Mr. Berntsen's solo recording TRUMPET VOICES was released in Nov. 2005. Critics describe the recording as, “Electric... An indispensable recording for anyone who appreciates great trumpet playing.” As an educator, Mr. Berntsen is Chair of the Brass Division in the School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University. Mr. Berntsen also serves on the Faculty of Roosevelt University in Chicago. Mr. Berntsen has presented master classes and recitals around the world. No really, a secret to success is cake. While NAV is early days in building out their data platform for data mesh, they are taking an interesting approach: work with the developers to set data product expectations and then see how the developers would go about creating those data products. Then, the data platform team will build the platform out to make developer workflows much easier. While Gøran, with a background as a data person, feels the pull to make the self-serve platform as data-centric as possible, he understands the need to make it developer friendly from his time building the application platform with those from a developer background like Audun. They both talked about reducing friction, including via sensible defaults, as a big part of their path forward. Stop trying to make developers come up with everything themselves. While they are still early days on developing those defaults, they are comfortable in their process to get there. And working with developers along the way is key. To start, NAV's definition of a data product is a single table or view. It will probably evolve to be more of a data set focus but they don't see a need to prematurely optimize or overcomplicate. Gøran emphasized the need to have empathy for data producers, to build that into the platform. Teams, whatever the strategic direction, can choose where they focus their time. Don't try to force them to spend it on data, spend the time to really work with them. As Brian McMillan said: find the opportunistic data folks. NAV tried to put analytics or data engineers into the domains but saw them sitting next to the team, not as part of the team. So they decided to rethink. Those data product developers were likely to become overly crucial to serving the data and thus were a likely single point of failure if they moved on. Okay, the most important aspect: Cake! For each team that puts a data product onto the mesh, they give that team cake. As in, an actual cake. It might seem silly but it really does work. It makes it feel less daunting to publish a data product and a bit like you are just having fun. It also means the team can show off a bit when they get their picture out there with their cake in the company Slack. And then people can use that cake picture as a jumping off point for learning more about the data product they just shared. It really is a fun community-building hack. This is a must-listen for anyone involved in building a self-serve platform for the application developers/data product developers. By Joshua Berntsen I'm a stay-at-home dad that homeschools my 3 children. I've always been a heavy kid/guy. I'm 6'5”. I peaked a 436 lbs and ended up having 2 weight-loss surgeries (lap band and then the gastric sleeve). My weight got all the way down to 259 lbs and then rebounded to about 315 lbs. At that point I began a health program (and became a health coach) and lost a bunch of weight. I got down to about 270 lbs, but then again the weight crept back up. I got up to 330 lbs when I began IF back in November of 2020. Since then, I've lost about 30 lbs. I just returned from Spring Break where I was able to pretty much maintain. I'm loving the intrmittent fasting lifestyle. News My book The Fasting Highway is available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle.
