NWN Corporation has acquired InterVision Systems, a managed services provider known for its innovative IT solutions and a strong partnership with Amazon Web Services. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance NWN's offerings in customer experience, cybersecurity, and intelligent infrastructure, solidifying its position in the North American technology market. With the addition of 1,600 new accounts and approximately $470 million in sales, NWN is set to significantly improve its market presence and accelerate the digital transformation journeys of its clients. CEO Jim Sullivan emphasized that this move will allow NWN to provide a comprehensive suite of AI-managed services, positioning the company as a leader in the emerging AI-native platform MSP sector.Empath, a training and education platform for managed service providers, has successfully raised $2 million in funding backed entirely by industry insiders. This initiative aims to deepen community engagement and give MSPs a stake in the platform's growth. Co-founder Wes Spencer highlighted the importance of having funding from within the MSP ecosystem, fostering loyalty and advocacy among investors who are also customers. While the funding model is innovative, concerns remain regarding its scalability and governance, particularly as future funding rounds may require traditional venture capital or private equity involvement. The podcast also discusses the introduction of AI agents by major tech companies like Microsoft, Snowflake, and Google, which are reshaping the managed service provider landscape. These AI tools are designed to enhance data analysis and automate workflows, allowing businesses to operate more efficiently. As AI agents become more integrated into everyday operations, MSPs must adapt their service offerings to meet the evolving needs of their clients, focusing on governance, data management, and workflow alignment. Finally, the episode touches on a collaborative effort among major tech firms to create a public glossary for state-sponsored hacking groups and cybercriminals. While this initiative aims to reduce confusion in the cybersecurity landscape, critics argue that it does not address the underlying challenges of attribution and operational defense. The podcast emphasizes the need for standardized threat intelligence delivery to help MSPs navigate the complexities of cybersecurity and build trust with their customers.  Four things to know today  00:00 NWN's $470M InterVision Deal Signals Strategic Shift Toward End-to-End AI-Managed Services04:18 Empath Raises $2M from MSPs, Blending Customer Ownership with Startup Capital07:09 AI Agents Go Mainstream: From MSP Operations to M365 and Edge, the Stack Is Shifting10:19 Glossary Effort Shows Progress on Language, Not Yet on Coordination Supported by:  https://getnerdio.com/nerdio-manager-for-msp/ All our Sponsors: https://businessof.tech/sponsors/ Do you want the show on your podcast app or the written versions of the stories? Send me a messageWelcome to a special edition of the Climate Confident Podcast. In this episode, I sit down with Jim Sullivan, Global Head of Product Management for Sustainability at SAP. With three decades of experience in sustainability and climate change—including roles at the EPA and in startups—Jim offers deep insights into the evolving corporate approach to climate action. We delve into the key takeaways from this year's Climate Week in New York. Jim highlights how the event has grown beyond climate discussions to encompass material transitions like the circular economy and hard-to-abate sectors such as aluminium and steel. He shares encouraging progress, noting that members of the CEO Climate Action Alliance have achieved a 10% absolute reduction in emissions over three years, even as their businesses have grown.A central theme of our conversation is the pivotal role of data and technology in accelerating sustainability initiatives. Jim explains that much of the necessary data for sustainability reporting already exists within companies but isn't effectively utilised. We explore how AI can act as a valuable colleague, handling tedious tasks like emissions factor mapping and freeing up human resources for strategic decision-making.We also discuss the importance of standardising data exchange to ensure consistent and comparable sustainability reporting. Jim emphasises that agreeing on standards is crucial for making meaningful progress and avoiding the pitfalls of fragmented efforts. Finally, we touch on the evolving role of the Chief Sustainability Officer and how sustainability is increasingly integrated into financial and operational planning. Jim offers advice to business leaders hesitant about committing to sustainability initiatives, stressing that while the best time to invest was a decade ago, the second-best time is now.I hope you'll find this episode insightful as we explore how technology, data, and collaborative efforts can drive meaningful progress in the fight against climate change.Check out SAP's Sustainability page for more.Support the showPodcast supportersI'd like to sincerely thank this podcast's amazing supporters: Lorcan Sheehan Jerry Sweeney Andreas Werner Stephen Carroll Roger Arnold And remember you too can Support the Podcast - it is really easy and hugely important as it will enable me to continue to create more excellent Climate Confident episodes like this one.ContactIf you have any comments/suggestions or questions for the podcast - get in touch via direct message on Twitter/LinkedIn. A Devil Went Down to Georgia: Race, Power, Privilege, and the Murder of Lita McClinton, written by Deb Miller Landau, is the story of the murder-for-hire of Lita McClinton Sullivan in 1987.     Lita was a beautiful, accomplished woman from a respected Atlanta family. Her interracial marriage to millionaire Jim Sullivan in 1970s Georgia was noteworthy in itself. Their differences fueled their deep attraction for each other in the beginning—she was a college-educated, Black debutante from the South. He was a white entrepreneur from working-class Boston, ten years her senior.     They fell in love and soon married.  But, before long, Lita found herself trapped in a marriage with a controlling man who treated her as a possession. When Lita filed for divorce from Jim Sullivan a decade later, it set off a series of events that ended in her violent death and subjected her family to a decades-long search for justice.    I spoke with Deb Miller Landau about this decades-old murder case detailed in her book, available now in your favorite bookstore or online retailer.    Links:  The author's website - www.debword.com and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/dml_author/   A Devil Went Down to Georgia: Race, Power, Privilege and the Murder of Lita McClinton, Deb Miller Landau, Pegasus Books, 2024. Podcast host, Charlie Uniman, and Jim cover the following in this episode:   How Jim's undergrad major in computer science and his graduation from law school took him from his first job as a lawyer doing document review to working for over a decade in e-discovery.    Eventually leaving e-discovery work to found his own company offering services outside the legal tech field, Jim nonetheless kept track of the immense benefits accruing to document review from the use of NLP and, eventually, GenAI solutions.    Jim realized how these GenAI-driven solutions could solve longstanding problems with less up-to-date e-discovery solutions. With this realization, Jim returned to the e-discovery field to start his own business, eDiscoveryAI (www.ediscoveryai.com), and bring the benefits of GenAI to e-discovery customers.   Jim explains how GenAI-driven e-discovery tools advance e-discovery far beyond the levels of accuracy achievable from the predictive coding tooling previously used in e-discovery - all at a lower cost and with faster time-to-value.   Jim explains how, by operating as a nimble startup with virtually no bureaucracy to get in the way, Jim and his colleagues at eDiscoveryAI can get closer to the customer and build customer-requested features more rapidly than his big-company competitors.

What could this mysterious being be? Next, they explore an eerie phenomenon in Ameca, Jalisco, Mexico, where numerous people went missing or drowned mysteriously between 2004 and 2007. Locals discovered that an upright-walking lizard man was allegedly responsible for these disappearances. After the break, Cam highlights some intriguing encounters between rock musicians and UFOs. Philip Taylor Kramer, the former bassist for Iron Butterfly, vanished on February 12, 1995. His remains were found in 1999 in a Malibu ravine, with authorities ruling his death a "probable suicide." However, Kramer's family disputed this, pointing to his claims of being threatened over his revolutionary technology. Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen lead singer, shares his extraterrestrial experiences in his book "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock." The conversation starts immediately when Brian asks Jim whether AI lawyers will replace real lawyers and Jim flat out says yes - that while AI is not going to replace all lawyers, it is going to replace certain positions. With that displacement, however, the discussion evolves into conversation about all of the new jobs and opportunities that will develop as a result of this new technology. Jim talks about many of the use cases where AI is being applied in the legal industry today including, in particular, in the classification of relevant documents in the production of discovery.Jim grew up in a small mining town in Minnesota called Hibbing. He went to school for computer science and math, but started looking at law school as an option after graduating from Minnesota State. After taking the practice LSATs and doing well, he decided to go to law school at Mitchell Hamline School of Law as a unique way to combine unique skill sets of law and computer science. Jim talks about his path to entrepreneurship and his willingness to take on more risk than most lawyers. Today, Jim's past experience as a tech expert and lawyer are now coming together in a unique way to take advantage of these new opportunities to leverage AI in the legal industry. This week, we pick up with the second episode exploring the very long road it takes to get justice for Lita McClinton Sullivan. It is a very short time period we focus into within this middle section. We begin in 1983, when Lita and her husband, Jim Sullivan begin their life in Palm Beach, planning a new, bright future. By August 1985, Lita is headed back to Atlanta, and by January 1987, everyone is eyeing Jim as the most likely suspect in her slaying. All sources can be found at doneanddunne.com. In this arc of our Done and Dunne investigation, we are returning to a few threads we have pulled in previous episodes, picking up a little bit of Palm Beach attached to an Atlanta true crime. These next episodes will investigate the 1987 murder of Lita McClinton Sullivan, and the long quest for justice her case takes. Included in this introduction, our main players - James Sullivan and his second wife Lita, her parents and friends too. This slice will take us to the couple moving to Palm Beach in 1983, acquiring the home that Jim Sullivan thinks will take him to the top of high society. All sources can be found at doneanddunne.com.
