The NHL's Blocked Shots stat is completely bogus and does a disservice to men like Borje Salming and Harry Howell. Too bad about Trade Deadline Day being a complete dud on TV. Toronto Mike and I get into the Leafs and their chances to beat Tampa now that they've made several trades. We also talk about the speed of baseball Spring Training games and the missed moments of drama. Also, the Raptors can't afford to lose to teams below them in the standings, golf, tennis and my story of Dave Stieb trying to chase a spring no hitter in Bradenton, Florida. Hope you enjoy the show.

You may be full of Thanksgiving leftovers, but there's plenty of sports talk to feed the casual or passionate sports fan as I'm back on the scene to dissect it all. On deck: (3:20) It wasn't a sexy Sunday slate in the NFL, but there were some compelling games (i.e. BAL-JAX, ATL-WSH, LAC-ARZ, LV-SEA that came down to the wire to impact the AFC & NFC playoff picture. I'll get into my winner (i.e. Cincinnati) and loser (i.e. Tampa Bay) of the week. I'll get into the early positioning in both conferences as we start to take a look at how the postseason may shape up with six more weeks to go. (29:13) Michigan showed their rival Ohio State for the second year in a row, who is the boss of the Big Ten as they ran roughshod over the Buckeyes. Throw in a surprising loss to LSU which kicked them out of the running for the college football playoff. The four teams that would make it if the season ended today are Georgia, Michigan, TCU & USC. Does Ohio State still have a shot to sneak in? More importantly, is this the year for the Wolverines to make some noise to upend the defending champs in the Bulldogs? (40:53) After sharing some brief thoughts on Ben Simmons's return to Philadelphia, the Western Conference in the NBA has become a log jam with the top eleven teams separated by only four games. That's right! Then there are the Lakers, starting to creep up in the West standings as they've won five of six (even with Patrick Beverley's inexplicable cheap shot which led to a three game suspension. And Russell Westbrook taking a shot by the Spurs Zach Collins). I'll go through what's going on in the Association as we're just about a quarter into the season. (49:07) Hockey mourned the passing of Maple Leaf great, defenseman Borje Salming as he passed away at the age of 71. On the ice, things have been status quo (the Bruins and Devils continue to dominate). Is John Tortorella on the hot seat in Philadelphia? The Kraken have improved in their second year. And the Blues have turned their season around after losing eight in a row a few weeks back. (53:56) All is quiet on the MLB Hot Stove front. There have been a couple of signings (Carlos Santana to PIT, Mike Clevinger to CWS) a trade (Angels acquire Hunter Renfroe from Milwaukee). As for the top free agents, including Aaron Judge, despite some rumors coming out of San Francisco about their meeting being positive, to me, it's much ado about nothing. (58:21) There were a few upsets this past week in the World Cup (Argentina, Germany and Belgium lost), but the USA has a huge game vs. Iran to see if they can advance in the tournament as I keep you abreast of what's going on in Qatar as week two commences. I may be a day late, but the fire and passion comes through loud and clear as I deliver all that's happening in the world of sports. On deck: (4:43) The second version of the "Field of Dreams" Game takes place in Iowa as the Cubs & Reds meet up. Did baseball drop the ball on promoting it? As for the latest pennant races, the Baltimore Orioles have really played well as they're putting pressure on Tampa Bay and Toronto. The Guardians have taken over first place in the AL Central. The Astros currently have the best record in the AL overtaking the Yankees. How important is it for the Bronx Bombers to reclaim their stake with the best record come October? The Mets have an interesting stretch of games upcoming. The Cardinals are in first place with the Brewers coming to town to battle it out for the NL Central lead. And Juan Soto will make his return to DC as the Padres will play the Nationals over the weekend. (21:18) Deshaun Watson is scheduled to start in the first preseason game in Jacksonville. Will the league extend his suspension from the current six games that was handed down to him before his takes his first snap? The Jets suffer a huge injury to their offensive line as Mekhi Becton is done for the year. (26:43) Kevin Durant has thrown down the gauntlet to Nets ownership, saying it's 'my way or the highway". Owner Joe Tsai is backing up his GM & coach (Sean Marks and Steve Nash) as was reported. Is KD out of line for such an ultimatum? Was this unexpected coming from a guy who just wants to play ball and not get wrapped up in this type of drama? Also, the league will honor Bill Russell by retiring the #6 across the NBA. Was this distinction warranted? Contrived? (35:58) Some NHL news has come down the pike with a few signings (Jonathan Huberdeau's eight year contract in Calgary, and teammate Andrew Mangiapane. Boston's Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci). Sad news as Hall of Famer, Borje Salming announced he has ALS and the Islanders are thinking of the possibility of trading young star, Mathew Barzal so they can sign free agent, Nazem Kadri? (40:55) Serena Williams is getting close to her "evolution" as the US Open is a little more than two weeks away. I'll discuss if she has an Open run in her as she begins to say goodbye on an illustrious career. (43:52) It's been reported that Cam Smith, #2 golfer in the world and winner of The Open at St. Andrews last month, is the latest to transition over to the LIV Golf League. Did he? Or didn't he?
