Investment manager and former Fox News commentator Ed Butowsky revealed the source for his assertion that DNC staffer Seth Rich, who was murdered in July of 2016, sold DNC emails to Wikileaks.Butowsky claimed on The Rick Ungar Show that the information came from former Fox News Analyst and Talk Media News DC Bureau Chief Ellen Ratner.“A lady that you and I both know, Ellen Ratner,” Butowsky told radio host Rick Ungar, “met with [Wikileaks founder] Julian Assange because her brother was Julian Assange's attorney.” Michael Ratner, who passed away in 2016, was a civil liberties attorney who worked with both Assange and terrorism suspects at detained at Guantánamo Bay.“Ellen Ratner met with [Assange] in the fall of 2016,” said Butowsky. “When she came back, she asked me to share something with [Seth Rich's parents] Joel and Mary Rich, that Julian Assange wanted them to know. And that was that Seth and [his brother] Aaron Rich were the ones who sold the [DNC] emails to Wikileaks. That's how I got involved.” Ellen Ratner could not be reached for comment.Rich's parents sued Butowsky for intentional infliction of emotional distress in 2018, citing his role in tracking them down to offer to pay for a private detective, Rod Wheeler, to investigate the death of their son. The suit was later dismissed.Julian Assange lived in London inside the Ecuadorian embassy for seven years after being granted asylum while fleeing extradition to Sweden over sexual assault accusations.
