The Rams made a few roster moves ahead of their bye week, inclusive of: waiving Brett Rypien, Dresser Winn, Myles Gaskin and signing former 2nd overall pick Carson Wentz. Wentz has had some insane success and some major downfalls in just 7 short seasons — with plenty of controversy tied to him. But nothing that should stop McVay from getting the best out of him. And because it's a bye week, we leaned in on Nick's Picks in hopes to make the fans some money this weekend.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rams are in unfamiliar territory: they're the favorite in back-to-back weeks with the Steelers headed to SoFi this weekend. It doesn't come without a price... the Rams lost Derion Kendrick to an arrest and Kyren Williams + Ronnie Rivers to injury. They turned that right around by signing Darrell Henderson and Myles Gaskin to fill the vacancy and stand by the comments of the offensive line (after Sunday's win). Aside of that, the Steelers are on a bit of a rollercoaster: winning 3 of 5 games but with a statistically "bad" defense, and an underwhelming offense (despite having plenty of skill players on paper). It's going to be an INTERESTING match-up: the first of McVay and Tomlin since 2019. Strap in!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On episode three of the Going Deep podcast, Brandon Angelo and Matt Waldman discuss the rise of Tyjae Spears, the fall of Trey Lance, a new setting for Matt Corral, preseason movers and shakers, and notable cuts and signings to NFL practice squads. The Minnesota Vikings have been making a number of interesting roster moves in the lead-up to the 2023 NFL season. Several notable players have been cut, while others have been signed to bolster the team's depth in key positions. One of the most surprising moves was the release of veteran cornerback Joejuan Williams, who had opened training camp as a member of the first team in the Vikings' nickel defense. However, rookie third-round pick Mekhi Blackmon replaced Williams in the nickel and made the most of his opportunity. Williams had his contract terminated on Tuesday, leaving many fans stunned. On the other hand, the Vikings made a smart move by signing former Miami Dolphins running back Myles Gaskin to bolster their running back room. Gaskin is a versatile player who can play on all three downs, and he had his best season under the guidance of his former head coach Brian Flores in 2021, racking up 946 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns. With Gaskin's addition, the Vikings now have four running backs on the roster, which is great news for the team's depth. The Vikings also signed veteran offensive tackle David Quessenberry to bolster their offensive line depth. This move comes as no surprise, given that the Vikings only kept eight offensive linemen on the initial 53-man roster. With Chris Reed staying on the non-football injury list, the Vikings needed to take action quickly. Quessenberry is a seasoned NFL player, having been drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He started all 17 games in 2021 with the Tennessee Titans, including a grade of 79.1 overall, which shows his experience and skill level. In addition to these signings, the Vikings have also made some cuts, including waiving wide receiver Jalen Reagor. While Reagor showed potential in the past, he struggled mightily in 2022, with four muffs on the year and trouble finishing routes. The Vikings tried to find a trade partner for Reagor but ultimately decided to waive him. The team reportedly didn't receive any offers that were worth what they felt was necessary to cover a likely increase from a 5th round pick owed to the Eagles to a 4th rounder if Reagor balled out and met the requirements of the trade contract when they acquired him. Finally, the Vikings signed 12 players to their practice squad and are reportedly looking at adding some veteran offensive linemen to the squad, including Hakeem Adeniji, Henry Byrd, and Tyrese Robinson. Byrd, who played left tackle at Princeton, impressed during the preseason and graded out well. With a few more signings on the horizon, it will be interesting to see how this squad comes together. Overall, the Vikings have been making some smart moves to bolster their roster depth and build a stronger and more reliable team. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season opener, which is now just 10 days away. What do we say? SKOL VIKINGS! Hosted by Dave Stefano @Luft_Krigare. Join the conversation! The roster cutdown day ended without a deal featuring the Miami Dolphins and Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. The Dolphins decided that Taylor was a bit too expensive — the same is true for a "mystery team" that was reportedly in the mix. Without Taylor, running back Chris Brooks was one of three undrafted free agents to make the team's 53-man roster. Robbie Chosen and Myles Gaskin were cut from the franchise while former first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene was traded to the Dallas Cowboys. It was a busy Tuesday but we have you covered! Caleb (@kdiggs74) and Derek (@derekrusinek) are here to go through the world of sports. This week it is all about NFL cuts as there were many surprising cuts as NFL teams are going down to 53 players and even have a few trades as well. Colt McCoy, Jeff Driskel, Trey Lance, Trevor Siemian, Nathan Peterman, Jonathan Taylor, Myles Gaskin, Boogie Basham, Isaiah Simmons, and Kickers are all discussed. Then the Brodies get their high fives and handshakes ready as they do the Brodie Bets for week 1 of the college football season with their favorite teams, picking favorites and underdogs, and then having a bonus pick which is their wildcard. The Miami Dolphins entered free agency with no running backs under contract but re-signed Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., Myles Gaskin, and Salvon Ahmed — last year's entire running back room — to new contracts during the offseason. The Dolphins also added rookie De'Von Achane in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Ignoring a possible Jonathan Taylor trade — who will join Mostert, Wilson, and Achane on Miami's 53-man roster? Ahmed shined with a handful of big runs throughout the preseason but Gaskin showcased a level of consistency any play-caller would like in the backfield. What about the hard-hitting undrafted rookie Chris Brooks? Another Dolphins Podcast is hosted by Joshua Houtz (@Houtz) and Jake Mendel (@JMendel94). The Miami Dolphins dropped the year's first preseason game to the Atlanta Falcons last week but hope to turn the page against the Houston Texans this weekend. Ahead of Saturday's game, the Dolphins and Texans gathered for two days of joint practices in Houston. Injuries are piling up for the Dolphins — when can we expect to see Kader Kohou and Cam Smith back on the field? Is it possible that Liam Eichenberg has lost his job at left guard with the emergence of Robert Jones and Lester Cotten? The second half of the show is focused on the biggest matchups in Saturday's game, where we should get some clarity on Miami's plan at wide receiver and running back before debating a big question — will Myles Gaskin or Robbie Chosen have a larger impact in 2023? The campaign to sign Dalvin Cook came to a close on Monday. The New York Jets added Dalvin Cook on a one-year $8 million deal to pair with Breece Hall in the backfield — what does that mean for the Miami Dolphins? Miami will lean on Jeff Wilson Jr. and Raheem Mostert throughout the 2023 season, but where does De'Von Achane come into play? How can Salvon Ahmed and Myles Gaskin get into the mix? De'Von Achane played 50 percent of Miami's offensive snaps against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night but fifth-year tailback Myles Gaskin stole the spotlight with 57 rushing yards on seven carries. It's clear that coach Mike McDaniel and Miami's offensive staff is working to carve out a role for Achane in his rookie season. That said, can a successful preseason from Gaskin shake up Miami's plans at the running back position — considering Salvon Ahmed played just five snaps? Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. will carry the workload in Miami's backfield but Gaskin looked like the perfect "flex seal" running back to help the team overcome the injuries that occur while playing a 17-game season. The Miami Dolphins struggled to score in Friday's 19-3 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. That said, we did get a better idea of what coach Mike McDaniel is looking to find in the 90-man roster. News broke that Cam Smith isn't expected to miss an extended period but may miss the start of the 2023 regular season. Jaylen Waddle and Robbie Chosen are also dealing with injuries but neither are expected to be serious. Miami gave rookie running back De'Von Achane a heavy workload and delivered in the passing game, what will coach McDaniel and the coaching staff expect from the first-year tailback? Myles Gaskin made an impact on limited plays while River Cracraft had a quiet night despite leading the team with 42 snaps played at wide receiver. Defensively, Brandon Pili and Jaylen Twyman made noise in the trenches while a new cornerback made his case with two passes defended in 31 snaps played. On today's DolphinsTalk.com Podcast Mike and Ian break down all of the latest news in the world of the Miami Dolphins. We talk about Byron Jones being on the reserved/PUP list and missing at least the first four games of the season. What does that mean for this Dolphins secondary? Who will step up? And should Miami go out and sign or trade for another "proven" CB to put on this team prior to Week 1? We talk about the surprising cut of Sony Michel and how Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed both made this roster. Then we talk about all of the rest of the cuts and who may be back on the practice squad should they clear waivers. We end the show talking about the loss of Jason Jenkins and what he meant to the Dolphins and South Florida. All of this and more on this episode of the DolphinsTalk.com Podcast.
The NFL depth charts are pretty set! The rookies have landing spots! We now have a decent idea how the fantasy landscape will look come July! So it's time to put a stake in the ground and make some rankings. On today's podcast we'll tackle the scarcest position: running back. Beyond the first several names, there simply aren't a lot of sure things, and we'll talk about why. We'll also talk some about tight end ranks and why our first inclination is to once again *not* pay to get one of the highly rated ones. Fantasy draft strategy formulations begin now!
