Want to share your feedback? Send us a message!Catherine Theys, Ph.D., Professor at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, joins host Sara MacIntyre, M.A., CCC-SLP, to discuss acquired stuttering, including both neurogenic stuttering and functional stuttering. Drawing on her clinical and research expertise, Dr. Theys provides an overview of acquired stuttering, different subtypes, and how it differs from developmental stuttering in terms of etiology, presentation, and experiences. The conversation explores assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment considerations, including the unique challenges faced by individuals who develop stuttering later in life. Dr. Theys also shares insights from the research literature, highlighting the need for more systematic investigation in this area and discussing projects her lab is pursuing to advance our understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying acquired stuttering and improve clinical assessment and intervention. Throughout the episode, listeners gain practical guidance for evaluating and supporting individuals with acquired stuttering while developing a deeper understanding of this less frequently discussed area of stuttering research and clinical practice.Resources for further learning:Theys & Fairbairn (in press). The Houston Texans have been busy in free agency — making 16 moves in just a few days. From the David Montgomery trade to major offensive line additions and key defensive extensions, Nick Caserio has been aggressive reshaping this roster. In this video, I break down every single Texans free agency move so far, explain what each one means for the roster, and give it a mid-term grade. Some of these moves look great on paper… a couple might be a little riskier than people realize. Moves discussed include: • RB David Montgomery trade• OT Braden Smith signing• OG Ed Ingram re-signing• DE Danielle Hunter extension• TE Dalton Schultz extension• OT Trent Brown return• S Reed Blankenship signing• DL Sheldon Rankins return• TE Foster Moreau signing• LB E.J. Speed return• DL Naquan Jones return• DE Logan Hall signing• S M.J. Stewart return• K Ka'imi Fairbairn extension• P Kai Kroeger trade By the end of the video, I'll give the Texans an overall free agency grade so far — and explain what Nick Caserio still needs to do before the offseason is over. What do YOU think of the Texans' moves so far?Drop your grade in the comments. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Seth and Sean discuss the Texans signing OT Braden Smith, if that takes them out of the running to potentially trade for Trent Williams, and the Texans extending K Ka'imi Fairbairn.
Seth and Sean talk about the Maxx Crosby trade essentially being canceled after he failed his physical, the Texans agreeing to terms with OT Braden Smith, if bringing Smith in means their dream of trading for Trent Williams is dead, the Texans extending K Ka'imi Fairbairn, and go through the day's Headlines.

Braden Smith signs from the Colts and Ka'imi Fairbairn gets extended as the Texans' free agency haul takes shape. Marc and John go live on new league year eve. Marc Vandermeer and John Harris go live from the Sports Radio 610 studios on the eve of the new league year, reacting to Day 2 of legal tampering and a free agency haul that's taking clear shape. The headline signing: Braden Smith, the former Colts right tackle, joins the Texans on a two-year deal worth up to $25 million. John provides the scouting deep dive — Smith was a guard at Auburn (90-plus percent of his college snaps), drafted 37th overall in the same class as Quentin Nelson, and only moved to tackle because a Colts staffer suggested trying him there during OTAs. The hosts leave the guard-vs-tackle decision open, noting it's March 10th with six months until kickoff, and emphasize that Smith's mentality fits the swarm culture regardless of position. John also highlights Jonathan Alexander's article on Smith's openness about mental health and anxiety, calling it impactful for the Houston community. Ka'imi Fairbairn receives a contract extension, cementing the kicker's status as one of the most important players on the roster — Marc spotlights his clutch 51-yard field goal against Pittsburgh in the playoff opener that pushed the lead to 10-6 and effectively changed the complexion of the game. The Texans also officially announced the signings of Ed Ingram, Trent Brown, Dalton Schultz, E.J. Speed, MJ Stewart, and Danielle Hunter's extension, plus added special teamer Jake Hummel and defensive end Dominique Robinson. The offensive line discussion dominates the show, with the hosts mapping out the current group — Aireontae Ersery, Jared Patterson/Braden Smith, Jake Andrews/Eli Cox, Ed Ingram, Trent Brown/Blake Fisher — and making the case that the draft's interior linemen (guards especially) are the sweet spot for picks 28, 38, 58, and 68. John draws an extended parallel between Ersery's development trajectory and Duane Brown's, noting Brown told him it took three or four years to truly master the position, and argues Ersery's year-two leap could be significant. Marc delivers the show's signature math: David Montgomery (two years, $6-7 million) plus Reed Blankenship (three years, $24 million) cost roughly what Kenneth Walker alone commanded (three years, $45 million) — and you get a complete running back plus a starting safety for the price of a first-and-second-down-only runner.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
ITL continues the conversation around NFL free agency and asks the big question: what approach should the Texans take going forward now that the early wave of signings has passed? ITL debates whether Houston should stay patient, start making more aggressive moves, or focus on value signings that continue building around C.J. Stroud. The hour then takes a turn as Lopez brings up Bigfoot and whether the legendary creature is somehow becoming a thing again, sparking a conversation about viral stories and modern-day myths. The hour wraps with BREAKING NEWS as the Texans extend kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn to a two year, 13 million dollar deal and ITL reacts to what the move means for the Texans moving forward.
ITL opens the show, continuing the conversation around NFL free agency and whether Texans fans should remain calm despite the team not making some of the splash moves many expected. ITL breaks down Nick Caserio's approach and debates whether Houston's strategy is calculated patience or a missed opportunity early in the market while continuing to build around C.J. Stroud. The show also reacts to the Texans signing Reed Blankenship and discusses what the move says about Houston's defensive priorities moving forward. Around The NFL, ITL reacts to Lamar Jackson calling out an ESPN analyst, Dak Prescott reportedly calling off his wedding, and other headlines across the league before going around the AFC South to break down what division rivals are doing during free agency and how those moves impact the Texans. ITL then debates what the Texans' approach should be going forward in free agency as the market continues to unfold. The hour also features a lighter moment when Lopez brings up Bigfoot and whether the legendary creature is somehow becoming a thing again, sparking conversation about viral myths and internet culture. BREAKING NEWS hits as the Texans extend kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn to a two year, 13 million dollar deal and ITL reacts to what that move could signal about how the team views the offensive side of the ball and overall roster strategy. Later in the show, BREAKING NEWS as the Texans sign offensive tackle Braden Smith and ITL reacts to what the move means for Houston's offensive line and the continued effort to protect C.J. Stroud, before closing things out with Figgy's Mixtape featuring Figgy sharing a small world story about why he tries to be kind to people on social media, reaction to Marc Vandermeer speaking his mind about the Texans, and more stories making the rounds in sports and culture.

Steve sits down with State Representative Parker Fairbairn, who serves Michigan's 107th House District, to discuss the growing push to declassify wolves and why federal control over wildlife management has become a major issue for rural communities. Fairbairn explains how Washington mandates often ignore local realities, impact farmers, hunters, and families, and why Michigan should have a stronger voice in managing its own wildlife populations. It's a common-sense conversation about local control, conservation, and protecting both people and property, not politics driven from afar.
This week I had the chance to sit down with two fascinating guests who are at the forefront of bridging the worlds of digital performance marketing and traditional television advertising. Nick Fairbairn, VP of Growth Marketing at Chime, and Andy Schonfeld, CRO at Tatari, walked me through how they've transformed Chime from a pure digital-first, DTC neobank brand built on social and search into a sophisticated advertiser that runs television campaigns with the same performance mindset they apply to Meta and Google. Their partnership has evolved from small linear TV tests six years ago to a comprehensive full-funnel TV strategy that blends brand building with direct response metrics.Nick and Andy shared incredible insights into the evolution of performance TV, from navigating the COVID-era inventory opportunities to understanding why linear TV still matters even as streaming dominates the conversation. They explained how Chime approaches television with a portfolio strategy, balancing premium reach moments like live sports with more targeted direct response placements, and why creative and media planning have become the "new targeting" in a world where precise one-to-one identification remains expensive and imperfect. We also dove into the challenges of measuring TV in a fragmented landscape, the role of AI-driven creative, and whether shoppable TV will actually move the needle or remain a marginal innovation. Key HighlightsHere's a shorter version:

How does the Nicene Creed unite believers from East and West? This episode of The Missions Podcast—in collaboration with Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church's Captivate & Conform podcast—features Dr. Don Fairbairn, a theologian and former missionary to Soviet Georgia. The conversation explores the intersection of missions, theology, and church history, particularly how the Nicene Creed and patristic theology offer transcultural insight for modern missiology. Dr. Fairbairn shares his journey from seminary to the mission field and how his time in Eastern Europe reshaped his academic focus on Eastern Orthodoxy and early church thought. He emphasizes that the early church's theology was already multilingual and multicultural, forged by African and Asian theologians rather than Europeans—a reminder that Christianity's foundations are inherently global. Fairbairn advocates for retrieving the transcultural truths of the Nicene Creed and a deeper understanding of the relational nature of salvation. Key Topics: The transcultural and multilingual origins of the Nicene Creed Differences between Eastern Orthodox and Western (Protestant) theology The concept of divine acceptance vs. human striving for God How patristic theology informs modern missiology The importance of understanding the Trinity in global missions Do you love The Missions Podcast?
