The Celtics lose a close one in Cleveland 115-111 behind a masterful 4th quarter performance from Donovan Mitchell. The Cavs snapped the Celtics' league-best 7-game winning streak shortly after Boston halted the Cavs' 17-0 start to the season. It was an exciting back-and-forth battle but the bad guys made the big shots down the stretch. The Celtics fought valiantly without Jaylen Brown and Derrick White but it wasn't enough. No Donovan Mitchell, no problem, right? Not exactly, but the Celtics are able to grind out a game 4 victory over the Cavs 109-102 and take a commanding 3-1 lead in their round 2 playoff series. Much like in game 3 it was the Jays and Jrue leading the way. Tatum had 33/11/5, Jaylen had 27/8, and Jrue added 16/7/5 with outstanding defense as usual. The Cavs fought valiantly without their best player, raining 3s in the first half and rallying behind a 30 ball from Garland. The series now heads back to Boston where the Celtics will look to close things out on Wednesday night and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Chuddy and Doug break down all the action and take a look around the NBA at every playoff series, break down a crazy NBA draft lottery, and talk potential repercussions of a new media rights deal for the league. As they always seem to do, the Celtics go on the road and respond with a 106-93 game 3 win over the Cavs. The C's now lead the second-round series 2-1. The Jays led the way as Jayston Tatum had 33 points and 13 rebounds while Jaylen Brown had 28 points on 13-17 shooting. The defense for Boston was a major story as well; they survived a hot shooting night from Donovan Mitchell and were able to limit the Cavs role players. The Celts will look to take a 3-1 stranglehold in the series on Monday. Chuddy and Doug break down all the action and take a look around the NBA at every playoff series. The Celtics seem to have found their footing. The have gotten right on offense against a mostly easy stretch in their schedule. There are reasons to feel encouraged about their play. What are they? The Cavaliers picked up a few wins prior to watching them this week. They are still a mess on defense. What observations did we have about their improvement on offense? The Timberwolves are officially in the post-Butler era. What does the new rotation look like? Will they play with confidence in close games? The Thunder are as good as any team in the NBA on defense but they are dead last in three-point shooting. Is that going to be good enough? All of this and more.Follow us on twitter: @presspodcast @willis_glen @LawtonWillis Follow Dane: @DaneMooreNBALearn more about your ad choices. Thomas stated to ESPN that his hip will be fine, but was mostly mum on the Celtics-Cavaliers overall trade. Boston was slated with a 56.5 over/under win total by Las Vegas.

The Cavaliers and Celtics made a trade that even three months ago would have been unthinkable. Who won the trade? OK we really don’t care. What’s important is this: how is this trade going to work out for each of the teams? The Celtics finally traded a draft asset, will Kyrie buy into what Brad Stevens will ask him to do on offense? Thomas received 94 voters for All-NBA team, Kyrie received just 14. Is Thomas really that much better than Kyrie? The Cavs have nicely set up for flexibility next summer when Lebron will have all the power. But have they improved themselves at all for a potential Finals match up with the Warriors? Are the Celtics better or worse than they were one year ago? How might Gordon Heyward and Al Horford feel about these changes? Zach Peloquin joins the show once again to breakdown the C's offense without Isaiah Thomas, and what needs to happen going forward to keep this series competitive against the NBA champs.
