The guys have a WHOPPER of a guest this week! Chris Carosa, author of "Hamburger Dreams: How Classic Crime Solving Techniques Helped Crack the Case of America’s Greatest Culinary Mystery," came to the Lounge and certainly didn't "wimp" out! Chris was great at having a response to WHATEVER the guys threw his way! Wanna talk stock trading? He has EXCELLENT advice (he DID have a nationally top-rated mutual fund)! Thinking about writing a play or something along those lines? Yeah, he's got experience with that too! How about advice on those carnival games everyone likes to play? Chris tells the "behind-the-scenes" truth about the prizes! With Chris being from Buffalo, Sam HAD to bring up the Bills and their former kicker, and Chris was fabulous in his conversation about the NFL too! AMAZING CONVERSATION with the person that Richey says is, "the smartest man I know!" We won't argue! Chris told about the lessons he learned while working in his grandparents' pizza stand at the county fair, and how that actually deepened his love for business (he started his business career before he hit 13)! How in the world did he discover this hidden passion for the hamburger? The answer is GREAT! The amount of work he put into finding the answers is amazing! ALSO, what do Pete Rose, helping a friend clean out a basement & Joe Montana have to do in a piece of advice about stock trading? You'll have to listen because it's a great connection! Chris was a fantastic guest, and he is our FIRST IVY LEAGUER! Chris graduated from Yale University, and tells a great story about getting a girl's phone number by telling her that he did the radio broadcast of their hockey games! OH, and we forgot to mention, he was a top-rated AM radio DJ, when the AM side still played music! This guy was fantastic, and HE WILL BE BACK! It's not often we run into a guy who puts an exciting spin to EVERYTHING he talks about, and we think he will be a LOYAL LOUNGER! If you want to learn something better and faster, there is a little trick that seems to work. We begin this episode by revealing some research from John Hopkins School of Medicine that says a slight change in the way you learn any new skill can make all the difference in the world. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/want_to_learn_a_new_skill_faster_change_up_your_practice_sessionsNothing is more American than the hamburger. We eat a lot of them. So where did the hamburger originate? Who came up with the idea? How has it evolved over the years? Award-winning writer Chris Carosa, author of the book Hamburger Dreams:How Classic Crime Solving Techniques Helped Crack the Case of America’s Greatest Culinary (https://amzn.to/2Hevorp) did some good old fashioned detective work to uncover the real story of the hamburger. He joins me to discuss what he found. Your life is full of risks. Almost everything you do has some risk in it- from what you buy in the store to investments to simply driving down the street. Alison Schrager, an economist and journalist joins me to help us all understand how risks work and offers advice on how we can handle risk better. Alison is the author of the book An Economist Walks Into a Brothel: And Other Unexpected Places to Understand Risk (https://amzn.to/2VUkjDZ).It seems most people are put off by the sound of someone slurping their food.
